John nodded his head as he admired the piece of junk he had reduced the robot into. Glancing around the battlefield, he’d witness the newcomer taking down multiple bots at one go. Really, just who was he, and where did he even come from? He didn’t have to wait long for an answer, as Ceylan thanked him as a ‘sir’ for his services. In that case, he was probably a bodyguard of some sort. Ceylan seemed pretty relieved about the situation though. “It’s not over yet… It might be too soon to start underestimating this manager being.” John warned him.

A loud crash far off in the distance alerted the group, with Demeter reminding them that Kiercey was not with them and could potentially be in trouble right now. She was the first to rush off by herself, doing it with style as she vaulted over the conveyor belts. John shrugged his shoulders, mostly unfazed. “Geez, why the hurry? I’m sure he’s fine, having a nice tea session with those fellow mechanical constructs. Heck, he might even be best buddies with them now!" After all, that robot from earlier seemed to like Kiercey pretty well, although John still thinks it was a risky plan.

Going into a slow jog, he caught up with the others ahead of him. Seeing Kiercey, he scowled at the little slacker, who he assumed had been hiding away here the entire time. “Would you look at that. He’s as good as new! Hey, what are YOU doing slacking off over here -” Just as John was about to finish his sentence, a loud bang came from the dented door behind Kiercey. Looks like John was mistaken about him slacking off. From what the others were saying, the boiler room entity was right behind there, and they were simply waiting for the door to get busted down from it. That was no fun, though.

“Huh… If it wants to come through so badly, let’s just give it a hand, shall we?” Standing in front of the others, John threw a ranged punch for the dent in the door.

Upon seeing that a many enemies had been defeated, and it looking like her allies were relatively unharmed as well as hearing the discourse and potential enemies at the boiler room and people heading there Shael Knew that it would be best for decisive action in this moment. Seeing that the way had finally been cleared Shael would get her bow ready, and listen to relevant information for the next encounter after moving toward the boiler room.
"Very well, I'll try to provide ranged support from the back as I have been." She would reaffirm. Ideally out of range from whatever construct which Keircy was describing.

This fight continued to remind Shael that it'd be really good if she could get some multi-target options for her skillset, which she knew were quite possible if hse put her mind too it, whether by magic or bow or perhaps some combination there of. Nevertheless she was ready to support from the back and engage to the best of her ability, now that they understood the situation better. Yikes, hopefully John Knew what he was doing at that, with the door getting struck in such a cavalier manner

Action 1: Move to boiler room, get ready to engage enemy based on information provided.

Patrick, The Blade of Justice
Patrick.png

“Only doing my duty, Bishop Ceylan.” Patrick would answer the canine-beastkin, tipping his fedora towards him, calling him by name. With a spring on his step, the plump archangel would trail beside Ceylan, following the group towards through the corridor and towards the boiler room.

As the group arrived in front of the door leading to the boiler, banging against the door had never stopped, metal hitting against metal tirelessly. And, with each hit, the shape of it would deform even more, bulging outwards in the direction of the corridor. It was only a matter of time until it was destroyed.

“I am Patrick, The Blade of Justice.” The man was quick to answer Keircey’s question, positioning himself squarely in front of the banging door, unsheathing his katana and holding it with both hands. And, by his stance, flexing knees, he appeared to be getting ready for something. “From the sound of it, this machine can be a problem even for me.” His next words were directed at Ceylan, but Patrick’s eyes never left the door, which was being banged against with relentless fury.

John’s [Basic attack] appeared to be the straw that broke the camel’s back. As the air-pressure from the punch hit against the metallic door, a dent was made in the opposite direction, towards the inside of the boiler room. With the last bit of the resistance from the material being shaved off, the next loud bang from the inside of the room made the twist, right in the center, outwardly towards the group.

Luckily, the two halves of the door weren’t sent flying, but instead bent in its totality, like a can of sardines, being still held in place by a sliver of material. And, the sight which was revealed, was one that Keircey had already seen: the boiler construct’s torso spinning, in right velocity, shovel extended, held by both mechanic arms. A deadly blade with enough centrifugal force to blow wind in the same direction it spun.

Patrick was the first one who met the spinning shovel, metal clashing against metal in rapid succession, intervals so short that the noise was continuous. Sparks flew everywhere, a bright and incandescent pyrotechnical show. The archangel gritted his teeth, the force of incessant and merciless assault enough to make his form begin to slowly slide backwards, being unable to keep his footing still.

“If we can overwhelm it… I can reflect its attack!” Patrick grunted through his clenched jaw, his efforts clearly not enough to stop the spinning attack.

The lower-limbs of the boiler room construct began to let out steam, pneumatic force began to charge, like a coiled spring. If the group was unable to overwhelm the attack, it was pretty probable that the construct would run over them, until it smashed against the opposite wall.

Just as John was throwing his punch, he overheard the newcomer, aka the so called ‘blade of justice’ Patrick, mention that even this big guy would pose as a challenge for him. Uhhh… Did he just hear that correctly? Time seemed to slow down as John’s fist sailed through the air before reaching its end, the boy’s eyes widening and his mouth forming an O as he felt the air being pushed aside by his fists.

Too late! The gust of wind generated from his punch had already swirled into motion, smashing right into the dented door and inverting the dent to the other side. All it took was another bang from the construct for the door to tear apart, revealing the monstrosity behind it. Well, John had to admit it did look pretty silly spinning around with a shovel, but it didn’t seem so funny when he was right about to get smacked in the face by it. And if even Patrick the robo slayer was afraid of this guy, it probably packed a heavy punch!

Hold on… But could they even blame John for his actions though? They were supposed to beat it up sooner or later right? At most John just prevented them from wasting time waiting for the big guy to come through. That’s right! John was innocent! He did nothing wrong!

“Hah! Seems like this metal head’s only good at spinning around in circles. Great work holding him off Patrick, now leave it to us!” John scoffed, as he grinned nervously to himself while a single drop of sweat trickled down his forehead. Without a moment to waste, the boy threw out 3 punches of his own, with an audible "HOOOCHAAAA!". At this range, he didn’t need to worry too much about his punches falling short, and thank god for having ranged punches in his arsenal because no way in hell was he gonna step up to the construct and punch it head on! Hopefully the others would launch attacks of their own though… Seriously, it would be real embarrasing if he said ‘leave it to us’ in such a cool manner, only for the others to turn tail and leave him to fend for himself alone!

Keircey was terrified, but at least if he got destroyed he wouldn’t have to worry about Diago. With that being said, as the door was broken down, Keircey held up his left hand.Sparks coming from his heart-shaped ring. As he murmured his incantation he aimed his spell towards the things head, unfortunately he lacked the ability to find weakness all he knew was what those brothers mentioned if he recalled it was the head….or was it the chest? He nodded at Keircey's explanation, glad to know what to expect. “Of course.” He added, when he got thanked for any help he might have. That'd not be the biggest problem. “If we turn off this.. 'grid' wouldn't it go Dark? I can see fairly well in the dark, but I'm not sure about the rest of you.” He asked, wondering if he understood things well or not. As for who Sir Patrick was, he just nodded in the direction of the Archangel.

As for John's warning, he nodded once again. “Of course.” A good thing to keep in mind. “Now that he knows we arrived, he might use this time to prepare more as well.” He realised, as they did take more time going to boiler room first.

On the topic of Patrick, he'd nod yet again, though this time his tail was also wagging along, as Patrick told him he was just doing his duty. He'd Fetched a really good one with this summon, it seemed. Ceylan would've stopped further away from the door than indicated (C21) as he had no reason to get close the moment he'd first hear the banging from it. His talents were definitely not at their best when close to the front-lines, after all, as he'd only be getting in the way there.

Patrick's words weren't encouraging, but luckily enough, he wasn't alone. Together they could beat it, for sure. Or so Ceylan prayed. When they met, they seemed evenly matched, which was great, as it meant the other numbers would bend the situation to their favour. That said, Ceylan's first course of action was to re-establish Patrick's link to their realm, using [Summon Celestial] whilst using a [Ritual Circle] again to keep the Archangel around. “Oh realms of the divine, keep open your doors towards our plane. Let remain here, those that would seek to keep aiding me upon my plea.”

His next course of action was to selectively shower the incoming machine in [Divine Light] D. “May the light of heaven rain down upon this place. To blind and burn all that evil is and to illuminate all that is good. So that the brightest light makes fade the darkest shadows!”

The doors to the boiler room swung open violently.

Demeter froze like a deer in headlights. She wasn't surprised by the sight of a large robot on the other side, but she was taken aback by its movement. Had it not been for Burke Brothers' earlier description, she might not've been able to identify just what that machine had in its hands as its top half spun like a propeller. Archangel Patrick rushed forward and intercepted the construct's wild attack and called the others into action. A part of her- an extremely large part of her- wanted to evacuate the immediate area before this train on legs her through.

But an even greater part of her didn't want to lose the team's most reliable machine slayer before the mission was completed.

So after a brief moment's hesitation, the dryad decided to hold her ground, joined in and cast [Root Eruption].
It was the first time that the entire party had focused their combined efforts upon a single target. Roots erupted from the floor not beneath the Boiler Bot, but a few feet ahead of it. They would rise into the air alongside Kiercey's lightning and Ceylan's light. They would level out with the floor as they rocketed forward, weave around her companions, and strike the machine head-on.

Then, she'd launch two more
[Root Burst]s towards the constructs legs- one each- to disrupt its balance and halt its advance.

Worst comes to worst, maybe Rowan's forcefields could keep them alive.

Actions (3/3):
1) Cast [Root Eruption] +2 on the Boiler Room Construct.
2 & 3) Cast [Root Burst] twice on the machine to disrupt its balance.
Root Eruption- Magic E, Energized E, Magic School F, Deflect (1) F, Indirect F, Blight [Bludgeoning] F, Continuous F, Incurable F, Magic AOE F, Selective Magic F, Magic Range [Metamagic] F- Demeter summons roots spikes from a solid surface to impale foes. These spikes can be summoned from the earth, walls, ceilings or even her own body. Each root is coated in a poison that simultaneously acts as a blood thinner and anti-coagulant; effectively causing a target to hemorrhage an unnatural amount of blood from any wounds taken from this move if not properly treated.- 1 action- 30ft Range- 15ft A.O.E.- 1 post duration- Grade E- 0 post cooldown.

Root Burst- Magic F, Energized F, Magic School F, Deflect (1) F, Indirect F, Blight [Bludgeoning] F, Continuous F, Incurable F, Magic Range [Metamagic] F- A weaker variant of Root Eruption lacking area of effect that Demeter can cast up to thrice in rapid succession. Often used in combination with Root Eruption.- 1 action- 30ft Range- 1 post duration- Grade F- 0 post cooldown.

The moment the door broke down, and the giant furious construct made it's way to barge through them all, Kuro didn't care much about how tired she felt then. She'd have to act now, or else the rest of them would be nothing but paste on this ugly factory floor. In a panic, she hurriedly shouted out "Halt, foul robot! Beware my curse!" she was amazed at herself for being able to think of something so cool to say in the heat of the moment, surely that ought to earn her points for style.
With a hand held up, she decided to unleash her earlier attack which was the large rush of magic that effected multiple enemies surrounding her. Earlier, it did nothing to stop the constructs precisions, but it'd done quite the number on them anyways so it wasn't a useless skill.
She hoped with their added efforts that this was enough to stop the iron beast from mowing them all down, otherwise nobody would be receiving payment from the Burke Brothers. It would be just my luck to die on my first day on the job...Kuro had to admit, however, that this was certainly the most exciting thing her bad luck had led her towards. She'd wanted something to do while she was here in Clockhaven. Well, she got her wish tenfold it seemed. If anything, she'd have quite the story to tell her Uncle. If she survived, that is.

Motor Head II - BlazBlue

To John’s benefit, it was certain that the door would only really hold off the enraged construct for a few moments longer, before it had been destroyed exactly as it did. And, to his bold words of being able to leave the construct to him and the group, Patrick nodded his head briefly, the swordsman’s eyes never leaving the form of the raging construct, keeping his katana until raised and being able to bear the brunt of the vicious attack for now.

Soon enough came the counter-assault from the party. Ceylan renewed the call for assistance from Patrick, guaranteeing the Blade of Justice permanence for longer. Next, the canine-beastkin’s chant echoed, as if competing with the sounds of metal grinding and clashing violently against one another, the [Divine Light D] creating a blinding light that even managed to impose itself against the artificial lighting that permeated the inside of the factory. And, while the construct’s photoreceptors, all too well-equipped and used to peering directly into the burning flames, suffered no malfunctions from it, the intensity of the spell had been enough to reduce the strength of the incoming attack.

With a cry of battle, the all too unassuming John would join next. As his closed fists travelled through the air thrice, as he comboed his [Basic attack], followed by two [Other basic attack], the wind pressure shifted towards the mechanical opponent. And, as the pressured gusts hit against the construct, loud ‘thunks’ echoed from it, thankfully hitting near the mechanoid’s limbs which firmly grasped the shovel. The triple attack had further weakened the spinning move, Patrick visibly being able to hold his ground slightly better than before.

Following the ‘thunks’, there was an equally loud buzzing noise, as the crackling of electricity left Keircey as he used his [Quintuple Electric Shocks E]. The five burst of electricity buzzed through the air, as if following an unseen electrical conduit, searching the form of the boiler construct. Hitting different parts of its armored form, they would permeate across its plating, the plasma-like phenomena with its azure hue spilling over towards the ground. The spell allowed for the defending swordsman to shift the grip on his katana, the hitting of the spinning shovel, which started to slow-down.

And, from where a few sparks of lightning had hit the ground, closer to the group, sharp and pointy roots erupted from it as Demeter used her [Root Eruption E]. Jagged thorns and roots burst from the lifeless floor, weaving their way meticulously around the dryad’s comrades, launching against the berserking mechanoid. Wood clashed against metal, the loud sound of friction between both material, as they hit the construct’s spinning torso. The following dual [Root Burst F], creating two further spiked roots which were launched towards the construct’s lower limbs. With the triple attack, the furious speed that the machine once presented having vanished, it appeared that both it and Patrick now were in a stand-still.

The tie-breaker would be Kuro, as she conjured her [Lord Nekomata’s Curse E] upon their foe. The surrounding air would start to become heavy, to shift, darkening almost like miasma as it make its way towards the mechanoid. With the ethereal-like substance surrounding the construct, spreading like smoke around it, it would begin to peer through its armored gaps. While it wasn’t intimidated, its mechanical mind under the Manager’s control especially resistant to it, the spell was the last thing that was necessary to effectively stop the construct’s attack.

Thanks to the combined effort of the group, Patrick was able to quickly slash against it horizontally, fully reflecting the previous incoming attack. As katana clashed against the shovel one more time, in a powerful blow, the shovel was sent flying off from the construct’s metallic grasp, all the way to J9 and, without its makeshift armament, the construct’s combat abilities had severely been reduced. The attack had also exposed all the damage which the group had dealt during this joint operation, as sparks began to fly from its joints, its form began to twitch uncannily, being pushed backwards.

However, as it was pushed backwards, from the very top of the construct, at its exhaust pipe, a burning, flaming hot smoke would blow outside of it. The red colored smog would launch towards the party, spreading in all directions. Luckily, they were still under Rowan’s barrier, which was damaged instead of the party itself.

Now, from the new position of where the construct stood, the mechanoid appeared to be more preoccupied with retrieving its shovel than anything else. With unsteady steps and twitching, it began trying to walk backwards, one of its arms bending to the same direction, awkwardly thanks to its [Omniswivel], for when it reached the lost tool.

A loud clang of steel upon steel filled the room as Archangel Patrick's counter struck true.

The machine staggered back a few yards, it's weapon went sailing even further behind it, and the various magic effects that had supported Patricks slowly cleared the air. And yet, the construct still stood. It had been hurt, but not as much as Demeter would've liked for all the effort they'd put in just to defend against its opening strike. It returned fire; filling the area with thick inferno that might've killed a few of them right then and there were it not for defenses that Rowan had put up earlier.

When the smoke cleared, Demeter could finally assess the situation.

The unarmed boiler room construct was making a... less than hasty retreat to retrieve his impromptu weapon. Most of her companions were winded and needed to take a breather before they could use their best moves once again. And, though a part of her wanted to strike the machine in the back right then and there, she highly doubted that it would've killed the thing. Especially if their next attack was weaker than the last and the machine made any attempt to defend itself. But one thing was certain. It that machine wanted that stick back so badly that it was willing to turn its back on active hostiles...

...then it was probably bet not to let him get his hands on it.

"DON'T STOP ATTACKING!" Demeter shouted before doing the most hypocritical thing possible.

She took off in a full sprint from her position at J19, pushed past Kuro and the Great Archangel Patrick, cut a slight right from J16 to I15, then, continued in a straight line till she hit I13. From there she just kept sprinting, forward to I10m where she'd cut a slight left onto J9, grab the boiler bot's shovel, then continue forward another 10 feet and come to a stop J7.

If things went well, Demeter would have the machine's weapon in hand and her party would only have to take down an unarmed construct from here.

If things went perfectly, then her team would've already begun to lay into the machine from behind and provide her with some cover before the young fae even had a chance to turn around and meet eyes with it once more.

“Well he can prepare as much as he’d like, but we will be the ones making him one sorry piece of scrap by the end of this!” John encouraged Ceylan with a wide grin on his face.

Thankfully, everyone went along with John’s lead, launching an assortment of their own attacks upon the big guy. Kiercey had his electric blasters, Ceylan had his blinding light, Demeter had her roots that wove elegantly to strike their target, and the Neko lady had her curses. With their combined efforts, Patrick was finally free to take action, delivering a sick parry to the spinning monstrosity that dislodged its weapon from its grasp. “Boo yeah!” John cheered out loud.

Despite his goofy looks, this Patrick guy was a lot more capable than John made him out to be! Maybe he really did deserve to be called the Blade of Justice after all… John nodded his head in approval, although he wasn’t sure how did Ceylan obtain such a powerful bodyguard in the first place. Did all bishops had that? John could only wonder.

However it was far too soon for celebrations, as red smoke billowed from the machine coming straight for them! Right before it could reach the party, it stopped short. As it turned out, Rowan’s barriers actually came in clutch here. Now that was too close for comfort! Seeing the robo giant limp its way towards its shovel, Demeter leapt into action, shouting for them to “Don’t stop attacking”. John shot her a puzzled look, before realizing she was going for the shovel. In that case, he ought to distract the big man for as long as he could.

Taking in a deep breath of air, he felt the flow of oxygen seeping through his body, filling each and every muscle with strength. Then, he dashed towards the construct, slamming his shoulder right into it with a tackle. “Over here, ya big oaf!” He shouted. His attack may be weak, but he just wanted to draw its attention as much as possible.

Sadly enough, his light magic seemed to do little, other than to slow down the enemy a bit. Luckily enough, the others had more than sufficient ability to pile onto the enemy with their follow-up attacks.

Ceylan was rather shocked when Demeter ran into the room with the giant robot. He could see why, with her getting the weapon, but... He wondered if he should summon her out. Either it was his inner doggo wanting to fetch the closest thing to a stick in this entire metal city or his inner good boy wanting a friend not to risk harm.

Seeing how his light magic didn't do much against the enemy, he decided it might be much safer to put Demeter with him, behind their allies, and thus he'd 'call' her and the shovel she was holding over. “May the Gods bring closer those I seek. May they help me bridge the passage of time and space. So that those far can be brought closer by the will of the divine. May their path be unhindered and untempered by mortal restraints, so that they may appear as called upon.”

Shael felt fairly inspired to be fighting alongside these brave adventurers. Even though John looked unassuming he was strong, and then there was Demeter's bravery, Ceylan's assistance. Rowan's support to keep them unharmed and Kuro's support magic as well. Keircey had even gone ahead and gotten information for the group. Despite the fact they were dealing some serious damage. She had heard those words, that they needed to keep attacking, so keep attacking Shael would now that she was in a ranged position to which she could provide supportive fire, wanting to contribute to felling the fairly sizable construct foe, and reduce the chances of any allies getting hurt, as strong as Rowan's barrier was. Shael would Promptly aim her Lunen arrows at the target which was being bombarded and would let them fly, taking multiple shots are areas she thought would do more damage rather than less. This was the way to help her team, do what they were already doing and march forward on completing their objective.

The time was now, it seemed, and all Keircey could hope was that the boiler construct could only focus on one thing at a time. Demeter took its weapon, which he hoped it would go after and deal with the ongoing fire of his teammates. The lever he figured had to be important. It must’ve been so he took off as long as he could, he couldn’t cast a spell from where he had been standing and he didn’t have enough focus on the mana in his body to cast while moving. He hoped he would eventually. But there is only so much one can hope for and more for them to do. He ran 30ft (F12) and then took off to (F6) in an attempt to pull the lever. Everything already was a gamble at that point.

"This was not what I had in mind when I signed up for this!" Kuro shouted as she was already sick of this horrible Construct business. They'd narrowly avoided being steamrolled, but now this giant machine was headed straight for it's primary weapon. She'd need to rest a bit before using anymore of her magic, which meant she'd have to get her hands a little dirty with motor oil, so to speak.

Kuro ran up to the Construct and decided she'd do what cats do best: Pounce. With no other options but to actually jump and grab a hold of this thing with her claws, she aimed for the constructs arm that was reaching towards the shovel. Kuro clung onto the robot and with her sharp nails, would try her best to scratch and really dig her claws into it.

If she was able to hold on long enough, she could really do some damage if it didn't fling her right off.
Dammit! I really wish I had fangs to bite this thing, why'd I have to luck out in that department!? The claws will have to do for now. This is incredibly undignified! So uncool! There weren't many ways one could make mauling a robot to death look cool, especially considering Kuro wasn't all that large to begin with, so she couldn't over power this thing with brute strength alone.

Motor Head II - BlazBlue

Not missing a beat, the group pressed the advantage. The mechanoid would catch the verdant blur passing by the peripheral vision of its photoreceptor. However, before it could even process what was happening, Demeter already had the shovel in her hands and was summoned away from danger, thanks to Ceylan’s chant, now positioned behind the canine-beastkin.

The construct was not left to its own devices, however, as John used his [Breathe air], to increase his own [Strength] and attack the artificial being with a strong shoulder tackle, using his [Other basic attack]. With the slamming of the shoulder against metal, the loud sound echoing inside the Boiler Room, the attention of the construct fell upon the black-haired boy. The plating would significantly dent inwardly at the height of the torso, the material already having been weakened previously.

Before it could act to retaliate, a whistle broke the still air of the room. The arrow launched from Shael’s arrow zoomed with precision, hitting the dented plating. The arrowhead would sink into the metal, while the body of the arrow would remain exposed. Her next arrow would further damage the plating of the boiler construct, which now already had quite a bit of the circuitry in front of its torso exposed, sparks furiously flying everywhere.

And there was a loud, audible thumping sound, as Kuro dashed towards the construct and pounced on it, like a cat. The mechanoid would start flay around, spinning his torso while it moved around with unease steps. Despite the rough ride, the feline-beastkin would manage to keep her balance on top of it, claws digging into the metal around its head area, some oil spurting from it like an artery. Eventually, the construct would twist its arm enough to grab Kuro and throw her off it, but not before Patrick took the opportunity to move to L15 and swiftly deferred two quick slashes against the construct. Thankfully, Kuro fell on her feet instead of prone.

While all of that was happening, Keircey had dashed towards the lever inside the Boiler Room. As the performer reached F6, his fingertips could barely touch it. And, as he stretched his arm to the fullest, he would manage to grab a hold of the lever and pull it down.

A loud, sizzling sound would come from each one of the furnaces, including the one that Keircey was in front off. A chemical had been released into them, instantly putting out the fire which had been so vividly crackling in them. For a few moments, the machinery inside the factory continued to work, until there was silence, followed by the artificial lights turning off, leaving all those without [Darkvision] in complete darkness for an instant, before being turned back on.

From the end of the corridor, there was a metallic rumbling sound of something opening, as well as two other things closing.

It didn’t take long for the sound of the machinery working inside the factory to be replaced by a deafening, spinning sound of two drills that came from the north wall, around A20 - A24. (The Iron Golem will join the fight in 3 turns).

The Boiler Construct, despite being heavily damaged at this point, was still functional. Its twitching, sparking and oil-spurting form set on retrieving its shovel, that apparently being its primary objective at the moment.

He looked at the end of the corridor, as he heard something big approach after the lights went out. “We've attracted the other big one!” He warned the rest, in case they hadn't heard yet as they didn't all have heightened hearing.

Luckily enough, the damaged construct seemed to try focussing on going after the construct, which would make it easier for his allies to finish it off. As for Ceylan himself, there wasn't much of use he could do right now, other than prepare for what was next. He'd retreat back towards P20 so that he'd not be on the frontline when the next opponent was going arrive.

Seeing how the worst of the danger from the boiler room was gone, he'd undo the summoning on Demeter, which might end up sending her right back to where he'd got her from like a boomerang.

For the briefest of moments, Demeter was left to wonder just how dumb of a decision she'd just made.

The thought didn't come to her mind at first. Not when she first took off running. Not as she passed the Boiler Room Construct. Not even when her hands wrapped around the shovel and scooped it off of the floor. It came to her as soon as she caught sight of the machine looming over her from behind; hand outstretched in a desperate attempt to reclaim its precious tool.

The world became a blur before the machine could properly respond. The universe ceased to exist, then returned the cold floors beneath the young Dryad's feet before she could even process what in God's name had just happened. The machine's back in the distance was the first thing that caught her eye. Then Ceylan. Then, the others. A voice- gentle and protective- echoed through her mind. Not to dictate her actions, but to reassure her. And Demeter quickly realized just what it was that had just happened to her.

She tapped The Bishop on the arm and shot him a quick smile. It was the only gratitude that she could express amid a chaotic battle. Perhaps the machine would've caught her in his giant hands and destroyed her without his intervention. Perhaps not. But it was nice to know that someone was willing to do what they could to ensure her safety when she, herself, could not.

Or, you know, when the little green bean did something completely reckless and stupid.

But that moment of vulnerability would quickly pass. Perhaps one could say that the party had passed that weakness onto the disarmed machine. As another, mightier machine began to make its way towards the party, the defeat of the one standing before them became evermore paramount. As the construct turned to face them and retrieve its weapon, Demeter readied herself to rain down an onslaught of blows upon her weakened foe. But, before the battle could commence, the world- and her position- would shift once more.

But, this time, the translocation would not confuse Demeter.

In fact, her face practically lit up with a wide, toothy grin. Be it an intentional maneuver or a stroke of luck, Ceylan had presented the young fae with a wondrous opportunity. She stood at the machine's back as he searched the area for a weapon that could've warped to any location. Perhaps unknown to it. And while Demeter's magic paled in comparison to Ceylan's and Rowan's in scale, complexity and potency, she did have one unique advantage amongst the members of this party.

Her magic was innate.

There were no words that needed to be spoken to announce her presence to the machine's auditory sensors.

No excessive movements to invoke her craft.

No bright nor jangling catalysts to draw attention to herself.

None of the usual signs to give away a mage's presence.

In the shadow of the enemy construct Demeter would raise her right hand- palm facing downwards- as a patch of grass grew beneath her feet; roots slowly beginning to grow around them. Then, she would gently rotate her wrist and curl her fingers till her palm faced upwards. And the roots would erupt from below and follow the motion of her hand; twirling and tightening amongst one another until the semblance of a hardened drill was sent hurtling- accelerating- into the tank mounted upon her foes back.

Perhaps, if she could strike a disoriented foe and surprise it, she could deal critical damage with an attack that it had no idea it even needed to try defending against. And if not?

Well, she could still take advantage of the fact that it had to fight without the aid of its precious shovel.

1) Cast [Root Eruption] +2 on the Boiler Construct from behind in an attempt to deal damage to the machine while under the [Surprised] condition.
2&3) Cast
[Root Burst] twice to strengthen the attack against the machine.

Seeing Demeter grab the shovel before vanishing into thin air right behind the construct, John’s eyes widened in surprise. Huh… He didn’t know that plant lady here had teleportation capabilities. Maybe she was a lot more capable than he thought after all. And maybe he would have noticed that it was instead Ceylan who had casted the spell if he’d seen where she ended up behind him, but John had his eyes glued to the construct in front his eyes in the mean time.

Slamming his body right into the construct, he was able to catch the construct’s attention. Uh oh! Now what? He thought to himself, as the construct seemed like it was about to retaliate at him. Thankfully, his backup had arrived right in time as Shael sunk a couple of arrows into the construct, while Kuro the kitty leapt onto it for a good scratch. There was Patrick too, who slashed away at the guy, but it seemed like it was taking his slashes a lot better than the smaller fodder constructs.

While all this was happening, Kiercey proved his usefulness right then and there by sneaking past the commotion and flipping the lever they were gunning for in the first place. The group were immediately plunged into darkness, but luckily it was only for a brief moment. Perhaps John ought to advise him not to do that without warning next time... Things could be dangerous if your vision was taken away all of a sudden in the middle of a fight! That wasn’t the end of it though, as the sound of two drills echoed throughout the room.

“Oh geez… I don’t like the sound of that. Whatever it is, I don’t think its friendly. Let’s hurry and wrap this up fast!” Saying this, he threw 3 punches for the big guy in front of him. This time, he didn’t need to rely on ranged attacks, which may be inherently weaker since they were propelled by air.

“To far away! But I can try to cast a spell!”

Keircey relayed to John by yelling. Unsure if the human can hear him. Keircey made the choice to pull the lever again, figuring they would need to see he was unaware of a major ‘if’. It was unlikely any of them could see in the dark, and he definitely knew he was programmed with that feature despite the fact it could hypothetically be useful in a performance.

Then again, he wasn’t made to use magic either. But he learned.

Maybe one day.

But that day wasn’t today. He swished his arms and hands around, trying to keep a calm composure. They caught the attention of something and, if they were lucky, taking this thing out would make things immensely easier…of course, if that was an army or the manager instead they might have a harder time. He doubted he could lie his way through that one. And he doubted the others would let him try now at any rate. Bright sparks started coming off his heart-shaped ring as he attempted to blast it with [Quintuple Electric shocks] again. He hated using the same moves, but his range was longer then his AoE and he already felt like he was pushing that too much.

Shael would once again take another shot at this construct, hoping to finally bring it down, aiming for another vulnerable spot from where she struck. Hearing Ceylan's information was alarming, it looked like the others were on a similar page thankfully, from how they were attacking and working together.

"After this one falls lets regroup for the next encounter!" She'd call out, probably only after the volley of attacks so far, not wanting to alarm the construct which was failing about what the others were doing, nor her own attack.

"I'll get something more impressive going soon enough.." She'd mutter to herself as she readied another Lunen arrow, not having a ton else she could do to support at the moment other than continue to deal damage where she could from afar, aiming it and firing once more as well. Hopefully there'd be time for her to move into another position if need be after the fact, pleased to see that the other's attacks seemed to be doing well enough between Demeter's magic, Kuro's strikes, John, and Keircey who apparently had moves she had not exactly been anticipating but shouldn't have been as surprising as they were a construct themselves after all, meaning expelling energy out like that..actually seemed pretty fitting.

The sound of the drill kept getting louder and louder, furiously spinning, a clear symphony of disaster. With it, the wall where it came from began to shake, wobble. Red mist, the powder from the bricks that made out most of the factory structure, slowly drifting towards the floor after dancing through the air. (The Iron Golem will join the fight in 2 turns)

However, the battle still raged inside the boiler room. The boiler construct, unarmed and outnumbered, still tried to keep fighting, a task that it was never designed to perform. The mechanoid began to move, trying to go after the shovel. Yet, the first step it tried to take was intercepted by John, strong punches being dealt against its heavily damaged carcass, the exposed gears on its torso being thrown off-rhythm and making it stumble backwards.

Shael’s arrows flew against the construct once more, both of them piercing some sort of tank located at the very center of its chest. It would make a copious amount of oil, thick and viscous, spurt and leak from it towards the ground.

And what followed was Keircey’s electrical magic, sparks launching towards the boiler construct, curiously being conducted by the viscous liquid oozing from it. The electric current would hit against its very chest, further damaging its lower locomotive functions and burning its circuitry.

Overwhelmed by it, the mechanoid could do little to stop the sudden drill-like attack on its back, from Demeter. As the roots twirled and tightened, they would manage to pierce its back, impaling it from behind, the tip coming out slightly from the front.

The construct would begin flailing its arms, yet it was much slower and sluggish than before. The clicking of the gears of its chest also began slowing down. Patrick, bringing his katana above his head, was preparing to slash it vertically, when the boiler construct suddenly stopped. The crimson hue on its photoreceptor disappearing, the gears on its chest stopping to move. “Heh… I guess that did it.” The swordsman muttered, before sheathing his sword.

With the boiler construct being destroyed, there was no current danger upon the group. They could choose to either wait for the Iron Golem to arrive or move back into the intersection of the corridor. If the last option was chosen, they would find the door leading to the 2nd floor office (1) wide-open, the stairs leading to it waiting for them. Curiously enough, from the intersection, they also notice a few things: the path to the Assembly Line #2 (2) would be closed-shut; the one to the Assembly Line #1 (3) would still be open; the door of the entrance of the factory (4) being wide-open, the vehicle which they came from having been moved to obscure the view from the outside to the inside of the factory.

The Construct had finally fallen, but the noise coming from the blocked door was growing more alarming the longer they all stood there. "Yes, yes that's all very fine now, let's get out of here already! That thing's going to break the door down and gut us if we don't leave!" Kuro said looking back at the way they came. "We came here to just get rid of one of these metal robots, so let's find that one and get rid of him already!" This whole ordeal had been far more hectic then Kuro had previously thought.

She was of the idea that all she'd have to do is just dismantle an angry machine, not get thrown off the shoulder of one like some alley cat! Kuro decided she wasn't going to stick around to see this giant drill bot break down the door to reach them, and so she left for the exit immediately. If the others were wise, they'd follow behind her soon enough instead of waiting around and chatting with one another.

Kuro spotted the stairwell immediately, and grinned. Finally this whole job can be over with! The last robot can't be that difficult to deal with...At least not in comparison to what they've already faced. She took the stairs and went to the second story.

Without its precious weapon, the Boiler Bot seemed a bit lost.

It failed to prevent John's fists from denting in its armor. It failed to keep Shael's arrows from piercing a fuel tank. Kiercey's lightning all-but neutralized its ability to move, and it was left open to being run-through from behind by a tight coil of roots. Kuro was in a hurry but the young fae wanted to take a moment to appreciate a successful hunt. Demeter slowly came waltzing out from behind with a shovel resting over her shoulder and shot everyone in the group a hearty thumb's up.

She glanced up at the broken machine, spike jutting out from the front of its chest, then smacked one of its legs twice with the flat of the shovel.

"Hehehehehehe"

A celebration short lived. Demeter felt the floor quake beneath her feet as the Iron Golem continued to draw near; the sound of drills growing ever-louder. It quickly reminded her that the party had yet to even locate the one machine that they'd been sent here to eradicate in the first place. Her proud smile faded, and her focus returned to a mission not yet completed.

"Yeah, we should probably get moving."

Demeter took off after Kuro, shovel in hand. She'd follow her out of the boiler room and up the stairs. As far as she was concerned, the plan was the same as it had always been. Stick together. Fight as a unit. Find the Manager. Overwhelm him before somebody got hurt. All she could hope was that the manager's strength paled in comparison to the Boiler Bot and, especially, the Iron Golem.

Well, that and the fact that the party would actually find him in the office upstairs.

Actions (2/3)
1). Exit the Boiler Room.
2). Follow Kuro into the office upstairs.

“Go ahead! Give it your best shot!” John shouted back at Keircey after the friendly construct told John of his plans. It probably went without saying that he ought to give the big guy his best shot, but maybe John’s words of encouragement would give Mr RoboHead a small boost. Who knows?

In the end, the numerous attacks on the big bad construct slowly but surely eroded away at its defenses, until at last the light from its photoreceptor eyes faded out into nothingness. Patrick was about to steal the show once again with his finisher move, but stopped as soon as he noticed it was over. With the construct mini boss finally taken down, the group had some time to spare before their next encounter with yet another Big Friendly Robot. According to the pictures, this upcoming driller robot may be even stronger, bigger and sturdier than the one they fought in the boiler room.

In that case, couldn’t John just make a run for the entrance right now? After all, big scary robot was big and scary! But that would mean leaving his friends behind, and he didn’t want to do that… He already did that the last time he was out on an adventure! This time he had to be stronger, learnin from his mistakes and all. That’s what they call character development, or something… wasn't it? John nodded to himself, having come to a decision on what to do next.

Shael instructed the gang to regroup before the next fight. John thought that was a good idea, although a couple of the others had a different idea in mind. Starting with the neko girl who seemed a lil bit impatient, she decided to rush into the next unexplored area on the upper floors by herself. Next up was the plant lady who followed suit with shovel in hand. John was still kinda terrified with her, especially after she had smacked the dead robot body with the shovel for good measure and let out one hell of a creepy laugh afterwards.

Still though, following the others upstairs may be their best bet right now. If they could take out the manager himself before the driller robot could reach them, maybe they could avoid the fight with it completely! With that said, John followed along the others up the stairwell without any questions asked. “Be careful, we don’t know what’s lying in wait for us and this could be a trap set by the manager.” He warned the others regardless. No way was he going to lower his guard in enemy territory.

Actions:
1. Leave area
2. Go up stairwell
