The half-construct was rather confused when Kane decided to suddenly entertain a 'wholesome friends' moment in the midst of the battles and chaos. Perhaps a bit unsure how to reply to that, she'd just keep it at “I guess some good things do come in small sizes.”

The 'Rotten Noble' faction was odd. “Sounds like you'd much rather hunt down the ones you're working for? You sure you're not just sent to silence anyone calling them out?” She had little to no clue about Rotian politics, but that sounded like a chore. “Makes me wonder how the shorty detective and you even met up.” A detective and a corrupted hunting dog sounded like a weird combination.

The next bit did make her chuckle. “Dangerous in different ways, but dangerous nonetheless.” She figured she'd give him one hint. “Though it's more about what you take there than where you are.”

Kane's counter against the second pirate went pretty well. They weren't the strongest, after all. Sadly enough, his attempt to get in a defensive position and figure out where the assassin was located at didn't seem to do much. His senses weren't fine-tuned enough to spot them. Worse, he'd feel a weird draft go right past him, directly towards Victorique...

… The shorty might be weak, but she wasn't defenceless. Using Spoiler she was quick to see exactly how the enemy would pierce her heart the and there. Or well, would try to. That was a future she'd rather [Halfling Parkour] out of. As she moved away from Kane to get behind Morana, she'd call out to her. “Your 10 'o clock, now!” That was where she'd seen the assassin come from when her precognition caught herself being stabbed.

Spoiler – Precognition E, Mind Shield E, Energised E – Character looks into the future, whilst guarding their mind against tampering. - Grade Ee - 1 Post Cooldown
Halfling Parkour - Fast C, Jump C, Special Movements [Light-footed, Wall-bouncing, Wall-crawling, Speedburst x5], Water Speed C, Acrobatics C, Energised C - Grade Ce - 2 Post Cooldown

“Sure thing shorty.” She'd reply, as she'd activate her claw, acid and poison starting to cover it as she slashed where Victorique pointed her too. Despite not seeing a thing, she could feel some resistance... then they would see. The corpse of the assassin laid before her. For how stealthy they'd been, they were surprisingly weak.

Victorique breathed out in relief. “Whew... that was close.” She'd look at Morana, kind-off wondering what to say. Then she remembered. “Right, ehm. Thanks.”

Morana just chuckled. “Sure thing shorty. Just doing my job.”

The topic of jobs reminded Victorique. “Right, I've almost wrapped up mine. I've figured out what happened, I got a fair few pieces of evidence. The only thing I wish I had was some more concrete evidence and details on the mercenaries' involvement. I take it they all fled?” She looked a tad annoyed. “We might have to chase them down if we want the story to add up in full, but I don't think we'd want to waste time doing so either.” A tough choice.

Just as she was deliberating it, she spotted something wrong with the house. Cracks were forming in its foundations, its wooden boards started to look rotten... “EVERYONE, GET OUT OF THE HOUSE!!!” She'd warn them, as another [Precognition] use told her exactly what would happen if they didn't. She herself made sure to create some more distance between herself and the house.

The captain let out a laugh as Simi got back in. Pleasantly surprised that his plan worked so well. There was only one thing he hadn't accounted for. Well, perhaps two things. The first was that most of his skeleton crew was no longer following him. The second was that Simi didn't decide to try divide and conquer by sending her Sea Gels after his minions as well, but tasked all of them with going after himself.

Whilst the captain was able to block the wet headbutt that was coming his way, he was not able to deal with the Sea Gel's whipping limbs as well. Catching him off-guard, he would soon enough be opened up to a follow-up attack by Simi. One strong enough to deal a devastating blow to him. That, in turn, allowed them to finish him off.

It didn't come without a cost though. Focussing exclusively on the captain meant that the Sea Gels weren't able to defend themselves against the two crew members, which meant that two of them got stabbed enough for their jelly form to eventually puddle away into death. Only when the captain was dead were Simi and the remaining two Sea Gels able to take down the two crew members as well. It was a costly victory, but a victory still.

That said, one thing definitely stood out. The captain had been surprisingly weak. There was a fair chance this wasn't the big shot she thought he was, but just a wannabe that was hired by said big-shot.

To make matters worse, she would start to notice something. The house was starting to crumble. As if it was rotting at its foundations. She could hear the other shorty shout from outside. “EVERYONE, GET OUT OF THE HOUSE!!!” Which seemed to confirm that something was amiss.

(Speed A = 6, vs Strength E, Weapon F, 1 combo = 4) Phoebe was able to dodge without too much issue. The first batch of Magic bullets wasn't entirely enough to bring both skeletons down, but Dayle was able to come in and back her up a bit later. That said, as Phoebe's destructive magic bullets flew through the house, it seemed that it was getting a bit more destroyed than it reasonably should. In fact... it started to be crumbling and rotting surprisingly rapidly altogether.

Their suspicion was soon confirmed when Phoebe and Dayle heard a familiar voice shout from outside. “EVERYONE, GET OUT OF THE HOUSE!!!”

That said, they had a choice to make. The fallen mercenary leader was slumped against a wall besides them. It didn't look like he had the strength left to get up and move out on his own. They had no clue how much time they'd have left in this crumbling house, before the whole thing would come down, so even trying to drag him out might cost them some time she didn't have to save themselves.

Dayle, having backed up Phoebe, would have been cleaned enough from the acid by his men to no longer actively take damage from it, but it would still hurt like a bitch. Acid blisters having formed on the flesh most effected by it, making every move a lot more painful. The two men of him that were hit were in an equally painful situation, though they'd probably make it out alive.

As his men were ordered to go to the other side, they'd start moving around the house to do so.

"Ohhhh yeaaghhhh!!!!" Simi let out a relieved screamed and literally dance on his remains. The remaining sea gels were also celebrate the occasion... by slurping the deflated corpses of the dead gels like they're eating jellos. The celebration didn't last long though as the house started to rumble and Victorique yelled at them to get out.

"Retreat!!"

Simi and the gels jumped out of the windows and keep running away from the house so it wouldn't collapse on them.

Action:
1) GET OUT OF THE HOUSE

Kane Blackburne

Interactions: Elvario Elvario
It was pretty apparent Kane was pretty accepting of bringing a second death against their undead foes. As he did speak somewhat casually at points when he felt confident in his ability to defeat whoever he was fighting, even so he’d keep the next bit more brief himself.

Giving a brief nod at the small packages comment.

Then at wanting to hunt them down,

“Hah, they aren’t all bad I guess learned that from Eliza Talton, don’t know if you ever heard of that family."

“And don’t think so, I’ve seen examples with my dad and they’re pretty bad people usually but to be honest I gotta do some more jobs before I get tasked with catching the big ones.”

“Met her cause she had an investigation and I had a gig in same place.”

Between some of his dialogue he was presumably stay engaged with skeletal enemies, a grin on his face when he was overpowering them.

Kane smirked a bit when She mentioned why the places she liked was dangerous.

“If you like that kinda thing I might have something to share later.”

All of that casualness and confidence had gone went away pretty quickly however when his senses were not letting him do what he needed to keep victorique

“[Valcori damn it I won’t let you touch her!] he’d default into a Terran sounding defensive and charged, gripping his blade, looking around quickly, trying to figure out where they were.

Thankfully Victorique was not lost as she made her way beyond Kane and was able to instruct Morana what needed to be done., watching her claw strike the weak assassin as he let out a sigh of relief, seeing that while they were sneaky thankfully they weren’t that strong, definitely having nothing on that high grade executioner which Kane had seen. What he was striving to be infact, stealthy and deadly.

“Yeah, thanks Morana that was a close one, way closer than I like seeing..”

Even so Kane kept his focus on their surroundings on the off chance that another stealthy enemy was wanting to make an attempt too.

Upon hearing Victorique explain the situation so clearly after almost being killed Kane almost chuckled a bit, instead a bit of a grin returning.

Just like how he wasn’t bothered by having a bit of a chat during a fight, she was almost fatally stabbed and had no qualms about going right back to business after while others would be freaked out, it was part of her no nonsense attitude which he appreciated.

Before he could give his two cents on if it was worth hunting them down the second most alarming thing of the day happened, the house was trying to eat whoever was still in it.

Kane quickly leveraged his Zen walk special movement, Fast E, Energized E and acrobatics F to try to get out of the way of the house.

As the skeletons fell, Phoebe was able to ease up a bit, alllowing herself a second to take a bit of a breather that those same skeletons interrupted earlier. "Thanks for the help." She said as she turned to Dayle, then noticing the burns he got from the acid. Turning to look at the mercenary captain, he was in even worse shape.

Their little respite didn't last for longer than a few seconds before the sounds of the house and Victorique's yell from outside gave them another thing to worry about. Phoebe immediately went over to where the mercenary leader was and grabbed one of his arms. "Dayle, give me a hand here! We can't just leave him here! I'll patch you both up outside!"

“Non-Rotten nobles sound as few as there are shires in Widersia.” She'd mumble, thinking about the few decent-ish nature bits left in their country. “Something to share? Count me curious.” She'd reply. She'd shrug off his word of thanks. “Those are just some small fry so long as you know where they are.”

They too, managed to get away from the house in time. Assuming Kane didn't forget to give her the notebook he'd gotten from the vice-captain, she'd thank him with a big smile, as that was the final piece to the puzzle she needed.

Whilst Dayle himself hadn't responded to Phoebe, Dayle's men did. Helping Phoebe with dragging out both the mercenary captain and Dayle himself. “Thanks.” The mercenary captain would say, though still sounding in a fair bit of pain.

As the house started to crumble down more and more behind them, the group was able to gather near the gate.

Victorique Sopheana

Giving a deep sigh, she brushed off some of the dust from her dress. Only now noticing it'd been ripped where the assassins' blade had narrowly missed her. “Huh... seems that was an even closer call than I thought.” She mumbled, observing her torn dress. Either way...

“Well, that's a job well done. It seems there were some final safeguards in place that'd make the houses crumble the moment all other traps had failed. By killing the last of the undead giants and undead pumpkins, we likely triggered it. Either way, it doesn't matter. I've learned enough and gathered up enough evidence in my Pocket Dimension.”

She looked at Dayle and Simi. “I'm sorry for your losses.” She'd state, noting a lot of Dayles men and some Sea Gels were no longer with them. She felt pretty guilty to see people having died for her. If only she knew resurrection magic to make up for it. “I'll owe you, should you ever need an investigator to help you out.” She'd add, as that was the only way she knew how she could pay them back in some way, shape or form.

Either way, now wasn't the time. “If you could all accompany me to the courtroom, that would be appreciated. I think I'd be safe to wait for the trial to start once I'm there, but I'd rather not taking any risks whilst going there. Of course, should you want, you're allowed to listen in on my conclusions during the sessions later.”

That reminded her. “Right, before I forget. It seems my next mission is also made clear. Once I've explained all my findings to the court, I'll be visiting the Spirit King himself. If anyone is interested and reckless enough to come meet a living deity with me, feel free to keep tagging along.” She'd extend the offer.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

A few hours of (luckily safe) travel later, they'd arrive at the court building. Another few hours alter, the court was already in session. It seemed most of the assigned members of Parliament and the other parties involved were all eager to learn some answers. Enough so to make this sitting a priority meeting.

As she stood in the courtroom, it was almost like she'd grown a few sizes. Her [Ultimate Argument] carrying her throughout all of her explanations and being particularly convincing to those of a fellow Fae nature.

She'd start by putting various items on a table in front of her. “Through a combination of investigation, peering into the past with post-cognition, hearing testimony and having written testimony, I have been able to come to the following conclusions on this case.” She'd open her the traditional scene of the detective wrapping up a case they solved.

“The suspect, Klyios, is indeed guilty. His background is relatively unremarkable, right up until the point he first met a certain 'Iztok' about three years ago. The latter has been proven to be an East Empire spy. One of the main reasons we know this, is the notebook kept by one of the mercenaries that we encountered in the house. However, these documents...” She'd point at some scrolls she'd taken from the vault in the house. “...along with these artefacts...” she'd point to some of the items she'd gathered in the warehouse. ... can all be traced back to this Iztok as well.”

“The reason for Iztok to approach Klyios was simple. Iztok is an East Empire Spymaster whom wished to obtain a pawn in Widersia. Klyios was someone he believed suitable to use for such a purpose. Their deal was simple. Iztok would provide Klyios with some means and methods to grow in power, which Klyios would use for his own good whilst feeding information to Iztok.”

She'd show some documents. “Yet their relation was fragile from the start, as it seems that Klyios kept copies of most reports he sent to Iztok. Perhaps he was planning to sent these to other factions as well.” She'd pull out a hand-written list. “It seems he even listed some factions in the West Empire as potential buyers for his information. Yet I have not managed to obtain any evidence that confirms or denies whether he ever actually did so.”

She'd pull out the artefacts. Some weird bones, some catalyst-like items, some blood-covered torture-like devices, some strange seeds... “One of the main ways that Iztok provided Klyios with ways to gain power was through these. These are devices to summon and make pacts with monsters. Summoning, necromancy, possession. It seems they spared no expenses when it came to providing him with the shadiest of means. Perhaps they trusted him too much, however, as some of these seem tempered with. In fact, I'm convinced that if you were to have magical researcher look into them further, you would find evidence of Klyios tempering with them in an attempt to remove certain limiters.”

That brought her to her next point. “The latter is where things seemed to go wrong between Iztok and Klyios.” She'd pace back and forth as she explained. “Between Klyios looking for others to strike deals with, his tempering with the tools he'd been given and his corruption starting to come to light, it was clear to Iztok that his pawn was becoming more of a risk than a boon. As such, he seems to have been wanting to take care of the evidence. That's when the Lion Company, the group of mercenaries we encountered, was hired.”

She sighed. “Yet the scene they arrived at was a bit too problematic to clean up. After all, Widersia had already sent two of its own investigators and Klyios had already set traps to capture them and get rid of them. Whilst the mercenaries, whom were informed about what to expect, were able to survive the encounters where the investigators did not. Even so, the mercenaries weren't able to deal with them.”

The corpse of a werewolf was brought in, having been dragged out of the rubble. “Whilst I cannot confirm it, I have evidence pointing at this werewolf being the first of the two investigators that was sent there before me. Klyios managed to use this” she pointed at a shady artefact, some type of tooth shaped into a blade, with odd runes carved into it “to turn him into a werewolf. A curse that couldn't be undone, which forced the mercenaries to try lock him up whilst figuring out a way to deal with him or kill him after Klyios' retreated.”

“Next, they realised the fate of the second investigator and the guards he'd been sent in with.” She pointed at the pumpkin seeds. “As innocent as these look, these were locked up in the safe as they are rather dangerous tools. When 'planted' into the brain of a corpse, the seeds will resurrect them as some sort of pumpkin monstrosity. We've had to deal with a fair few of them, suggesting Klyios made more victims than just the investigator.”

“Sadly enough, the corpses were too altered to try figure out whom they were. Either they were political rivals or people that were unlucky enough to get close. Whichever it was, the Lion Company started to realise how messed up the situation had gotten and realised that attempting to wipe away all evidence would not be feasible. It's why we managed to convince them to retreat, though we did spring one last trap planted by Klyios' and had to deal with both the pumpkin-type undead as well as some giant undead monstrosities. It seems a spell was placed onto the house to have it crumble and rot away the moment those two traps failed as well.”

The of what she had uncovered was the most concerning bit. “I believe the main reason for the falling-out between Iztok and Klyios were the last few creatures made. It seems those creatures were shabbily made, as they would cover ally and enemy alike in dangerous acid upon death. Something too unsophisticated for the methods Klyios was supplied with. I believe he used the information gained to make these himself in an attempted to become independent and likely to prepare for a betrayal. Yet it never got to that point, as both the council and the East Empire had gotten suspicious of him before he could finish. The only concern is how much he did end up dealing with third parties that we might yet be unaware of. I found evidence to suggest it possible, but none to confirm it.”

The last bit was a bit more hypothetical. “It seems that Klyios' had lost some of his sanity, or perhaps even free will, as he attempted to make a pact with some demonic entity. Sadly enough, due to the house crumbling to dust at the end of our investigation, we were not able to fully confirm the latter's involvement. All we know is that a lot of trouble was narrowly avoided by this deal falling apart before it could be finalised. I personally deem it likely a more powerful and independent [monster] entity may have gotten involved in the later stages, but I am afraid I cannot fully confirm so.”

That was all she'd uncovered. “So, in short. Klyios was paid to become an East Empire spy in Widersia's council. They helped him gain power and influence, using connections to monsters and dangerous magic in the process. He started doing experiments of his own and was looking for other sponsors, likely trying to betray them or to start earning from multiple sources. As the council grew suspicious and sent the first two investigators, the East Empire learned their plans were being uncovered as well and sent in the Lion Company to go clean up. Yet before they could, we arrived and convinced them to abandon their mission. The evidence here is enough to support the use of monsters, as well as the ties to the East Empire.”

That was all. Though there would be some follow-up questions, the details would be shared thanks to her [Eidetic Memory] and her overall performance, thanks to her [Ultimate Argument] was rather convincing. Especially to the Fae members in the council.

Summary of the Roleplay (Briefly summarize the events and main storyline of the roleplay.)
The halfling investigator, Victorique Sopheana, has been hired to investigate the mansion of a certain 'mister Klyios'. The man was relatively unheard of, yet suddenly stormed the scene. Within a few years time, he gained an extraordinarily large amount of wealth and popularity and he's now planning to run for an important position in Parliament. Victorique is joined by Phoebe, Dayle, Simi, Kane and Orchid, who come to protect her during this mission.

As they arrive at Klyios' estate, it is immediately clear that a lot of things are 'wrong' there. They manage to negotiate with a mercenary company that took over the building, but not before some undead monsters started popping up after some sort of trap is triggered.

The group ends up dealing with the undead and with some other threats, whilst Victorique investigates. She finds out that Klyios has been hired by an East Empire spymaster, Iztok, but Klyios was trying to betray them after making increasingly dangerous and shady deals with the various monsters he'd been utilising to gain power.

She finally presents all her findings to a special council in order for the involved parties to be judged. Showing the East Empire's involvement and Klyios' many shady dealings in full.

Goal Achievement (Indicate whether the goal of the roleplay was accomplished. Note that this affects grading, as failed roleplays typically receive lesser rewards.)
Victorique's goal of gathering evidence and providing it to the council was achieved. Seeing how she is still alive, the goal of protecting her whilst she was doing was also achieved. Simi also managed to survive those that [Wanted] her.

Criminal Acts Perpetrated (List any criminal acts committed during the roleplay, with links to the specific posts where they occurred.)
None occurred.

Lore to Establish (Detail any new lore you'd like to introduce, including brief descriptions for lore moderators, links to the posts where the lore was established, nation of origin associated with the lore.)
Pumpkin Undead – When a corrupted pumpkin seed is planted into the brain of a corpse, it can resurrect the corpse into a Pumpkin Undead. They can hide in the soil and will resemble an unsuspecting pumpkin field. However, when triggered, they will use their sharp claws (natural weapons) and their ability to spit pumpkin seeds that [Tangle] those hit by them to try hunt down their targets. Whilst weak individually, they often come in large enough numbers to be a considerable threat. It is unclear how many of the seeds that create them float around in the black market, but it is presumed that there are enough of them floating around to be a considerable risk.

Undead Giants – Slow creatures, yet sturdy and strong. They turn into a dangerous acidic explosion upon near-death. It's said that some incarnations were made by resurrecting an amalgamation of various corpses.

Iztok – (Appearance unknown.) - An East Empire Spymaster known to be involved in various missions in Widersia. One of the biggest of which being the failed attempt to use the influential Klyios as a puppet in the Widersian Parliament. He is also said to be behind the forces supplying Widersians with illegal and dangerous monster-related items in order to destabalize the nation.

Klyios – (Appearance unknown.) - A former influential figure on his way to become a high ranking member of the Parliament in Widersia whom lost his power and influence after having been revealed to be working with monsters and the East Empire. He is currently found guilty in trial and might end up with a death sentence, unless another party wishes to intervene and save him from this fate.

Aftermath and Potential Lore Updates (Describe any potential aftermath or consequences based on the events of the roleplay. Suggest any updates that might be needed for the lore.)
The Parliament in Widersia had more than enough reason to not only block Klyios from joining their ranks, but also to have him arrested and put on trial. Whilst the East Empire Spymaster was nowhere to be found, a warrant would be put out for this 'Iztok's' arrest and future investigation into the latter's other operations would be requested.

Tensions between the East Empire and Widersia would rise again, as it was clear that ending of the war between the See and the East Empire had given the latter some time to start looking at Widersia again. To make matters worse, Victorique's investigations also uncovered that some dangerous undead-creating Pumpkin seeds had entered Widersia, which might still be out there on the black market.

Klyios' fate would likely be a death sentence, unless another party (like someone wishing to RP freeing a corrupt Widersian man of influence) were to interfere.

Narrator Bonuses (Recommend any bonuses you'd like to award to narrators based on their performance.)
See the asset/titles list. I'd like to allow them more than a single rank in one of those three factions.

Additional Notes (Include any other observations or points you'd like feedback on or that require further commentary.)
Are multilevel maps just a nightmare by default, the moment the party goes on different floors and interacts with stuff on lower floors as well, or did I go about it wrong? I think I'll stick to denying the existence of upper floors and lower floors the next few times I use combat maps. We are all 2 dimensional now.
