Eshne couldn’t hide a small smile as Kit stepped forward to accept her challenge. But, she did something much different this time than with Hazel. The woman didn’t move. No, instead she allowed Kit to land every single blow on her until she was lying on the stone floor of the common area, what could’ve been blood pouring from her nose as she blinked a few times as if in a daze. “Huh…” She’d mutter, struggling to get herself up off the floor.

Delta nodded as Darrene and Ishnai stepped forward, but her eyes were quick to land on Radfor as he mumbled to himself. "Well, I suppose I could let you tear yourself apart being unable to control the sheer amount of magical energy coursing through you.-" She would walk towards him, looking him in the eye despite being shorter than the orc. "And when that painful experience of your being tearing itself into pieces if finally finished, I can ask my father to briefly rip your soul from whatever hellish afterlife awaits mortals so I can get one last look at your pitiful conscious."

Ki'Tavi hadn't expected to land more than maybe a single strike in that barrage. That didn't mean, however, that he held back or that he let up anywhere during the duration. When he spun back to his feet after that final kick, he was a touch surprised to see Eshne laying sprawled out on the ground.

Perhaps she had underestimated how much force he could put behind his attacks. She had smiled at him just before he had begun. Maybe she'd let herself get overconfident. Kit still suspected that, if she went all out, she'd be formidable just by how she dealt with Hazel moments before. She should have been able to block those attacks, at least most of them, but she didn't even make an attempt.

Fighting is, as hard as it is for some to believe, as much mental as it is physical. If you can get inside of your opponents head, you can basically make them do whatever you want with the right amount of prodding. So, at this point Kit had, really, three options. He could pounce on her now, he could stand where he is, or he could disengage.

If he chose to pounce, a feeling in his gut told him it would not go well for him. It was a common tactic to feign weakness or injury to lure a target in close for the kill. Hell, it was a tactic Kit had used often enough to get opponents to drop their guard. That was why, even now, he had a bend in his knees, ready for her to suddenly spring to an attack.

He could just stand his ground and wait. Though, he never really liked standing over wounded opponents like that. It also gave them time to think or time for reinforcements to arrive, if they were playing for time. Even if Kit doubted she'd have backup swooping in any time soon, old habits meant he didn't like this course of action.

That left the disengage option. Given he didn't want to go towards her, and he didn't want to stand there waiting, it was the most viable option. Many people, particularly overly cocky people, would just turn their back and walk normally. Those types of people usually wound up knifed in the back by the formerly downed opponent. No, instead Ki'Tavi walked backwards, letting his feet slide across the floor so that, should she attack, he would be ready to attempt a counter without getting caught midstep.

He made sure he had a comfortable distance from her before he spoke, his eyes never leaving her fallen form. "You didn't even attempt to defend yourself..." Kit stated. He wasn't so foolish to think he had just bested the Goddess of War. No, something was off. She hadn't tried to defend herself at all. Whatever this was....

It smelled like a trap....

Eshne
Unknown || Female || Wyrmlord || Fire and War
Unlike Kit had assumed, Eshne didn’t move to strike him. Instead it appeared as if she were genuinely having difficulty getting to her feet, although still having a smile on her lips despite the pain she appeared to be in. “Lower your guard, I’m not that cheap.” She chuckled, though regretting it as she put her weight all on her good leg, hissing as she finished speaking. “I wanted to test something... it wasn’t the smartest method, but it proved a point. You all have no idea how to judge your newfound strength, as a mortal wouldn't have the strength to break my ribs, leg and so on. I haven’t actually been this wounded since...” she trailed off, giving her head a brief shake. “Never mind that. But even though I am a Wyrmlord, I can’t Just will myself to heal, that isn’t how it works...”

As the woman trailed off, her casual expression shattered as she slowly sunk to the floor, her face having paled. “S-someone go find Vis...” she eventually mumbled. “This isn’t right...”

Veth fought against the urge to yawn, her eyes still watering from the effort to keep herself from openly doing so. She blinked a few times and it was as if it never happened. She really needed a decent night's sleep. "Whatever you do, do not try and touch her buttocks again if you want to keep your hand, just a friendly suggestion," she said as Kit stepped forward to challenge Eshne. She honestly had another reason behind trying to be suggestive of him going before her in this lesson, to gauge how capable he was when it came to fighting.

"You may not have a choice in this lesson," she replied to Midas' comment about not fighting, "I'm at a disadvantage as well. I can hold my own decently without a weapon, but it wouldn't be enough." Her eyes never left Kit's form as he approached Eshne, what was he going to do? He didn't hesitate in a direct charge and released an onslaught on attacks upon Eshne... who wasn't even trying to block or dodge anything. Veth took a step forward, wondering what the woman was planning to allow herself to be injured.

Eshne let herself be beaten to the point of falling onto the floor, she didn't appear to be faking her injuries as she struggled to get up after being attacked by Kit. If she had been in the scenario, Veth would have stopped the moment she realized Eshne wasn't going to attempted to defend. Eshne brushed off the comments and said she wanted to test something, was being harmed really worth it? Just to test something? If she really did have the injuries she was listing off, this was not good. When Eshne requested someone to fetch Vis, she turned and rushed out of the commons area without a word. She opened random doors, calling out for Vis since she didn't know where he was.

It didn’t take long for the breakfast to end. The group was split, and Lorella found herself in probably her least favorite of the groups. Probably the only bright spot was that Darrene was also there. Sure, she had been friendly, well more than friendly, with Civis, but her dreams hung in her mind like a constant reminder whenever she glanced his way. Today, if she could, she would tell him. In times like this, she needed someone she could trust like the triton, if he would ever forgive her. Regardless, her consciousness would not permit her to continue to lie.

It was a sign of how much she was changing, feeling obliged to tell Civis. Before she would have gladly lied to the triton for weeks, months even years if necessary. All to serve her own self-interests. Now, though, she was striving to be someone different, more aware of her past mistakes. Continuing to lie to Civis would put her whole new foundation at risk.

Of course, of all the wyrmlords to get stuck with, Lorella got paired in the group with Delta. After last night, Lorella realized she did want her goddess’ affection and to please her. That was why she had reacted so to the mortal. Lorella had believed that her actions would have pleased Delta. Instead, Delta reacted harshly and pushed her down. Lorella still wanted, still craved, Delta’s affection, though. That hadn’t gone away even in spite of her underlying anger towards her.

“Understood Mother, I will follow your lead,” Lorella responded as Delta asked the group for acknowledgement. Maybe, if she followed and did as Delta asked, she could make up just a bit to Delta for last night. Lorella winced, feeling sorry for the poor orc as Delta tore into her. It was nice, for once, to have someone else on the receiving end of Delta’s scorn, but she still felt sorry for the poor orc. They hadn’t even started training yet, and Delta was already in a pissed off mood. Lovely.

“If I may ask Mother, how does magic work? I have heard tales from sailors of monks who train their whole lives to light but a single wick of a candle. What enables us to access such magic? Where does it come from?” Lorella hoped that asking a scholarly question would help bring things back on track. She was genuinely curious to learn the details of magic.

-RADFOR BORA'URUG-
half_orc___dungeons_and_dragons_by_wandererfromys-d5hsrbz.jpg

Radfor's ears picked up the sound of high-pitched whispering going his way, and turned his head ever so slightly to see who it was. It was the feline woman, who's name he had yet to learn, telling him to basically not upset a god. He sighed, shaking his head a little as he whispered back to her in a low, gravely tone.
"Gods? No. They are mere Wyrms, same as us. Just older....by a great deal."
Radfor disliked speaking of family this way, even though his relation to Delta was distant. She was still a sibling to Vis, and that made her his aunt, but she was no Goddess in Radfor's eyes. Shartoth-gul, Orc Lord of Nature, was a God; but a great lizard such as himself and the woman in front of him? No, they were not. And if they thought they were, that would speak mountains of their own hubris....

However, as if reading his thoughts, Delta approached him, the crowd he was standing behind splitting apart to do so, and then went off on a tirade as to what would happen if the rules were not followed, making sure to include the part where his soul was devoured for good measure. Internally, Radfor flinched; this was a cold and calculated woman for certain. She was obviously used to being in control, and Radfor's little prayer to his gods must have set her off somehow. Radfor digested her words carefully, but was certain not to display any notion of fear towards the, almost humorously, smaller woman in front of him. He met her stare with a glare of his own.
"If fate would have me perish here in front of you....then so be it. My gods will welcome me with open arms. But my time here is not yet finished; I still have business to complete. So I'll be damned if any of your magick turns me to ash or splits me in two. I will live; I have to. So let's begin."

He crossed his arms, still staring her down, not daring to break eye contact. What he said was perhaps rather foolish in terms of perservereance, and he was indeed fearing for his life even now. But he was determined to live, determined to complete whatever drastic goal they wanted him to complete in order to return to his family again. She would not scare him into submission.
He still did not break eye contact even when another of the group spoke up with a rather large question. He continued to stare her down, waiting for her to move.

Hazel watched as the Goddes went down. She didn’t even block a single blow, just...let him hit her to the ground. As Eshne stood it was clear she wasn’t ok, especially since she was calling for vis and medical help. Before she blocked Hazel’s moves so perfectly? What happened? Kit was definitely stronger than Hazel but not stronger than a god surely?? His words snapped her out her thoughts.

"One of you. Go grab my pack from the room and bring it to me. Take anything from it and I'll hunt you down...."

“I’ll do it. I’ll be quick.” She said and quickly ran to thier room. Running past cot after cot till she saw the one that couldn’t be anyone else’s but his. It had a ton of dark fur all over it. Hazel chuckles and found the pack. Hmmm...maybe a quick peak inside wouldn’t hurt? Maybe not... She started to walk back but curiosity got the best of her. Her hands opened the bag and she quickly scanned through its contents.

The herbs were the most intriguing. Some for basic medicine. Healers herbs she remembers her mother calling them. Others...she recognized as a poisonous variety. In darker markets one could find plants such as this for sale. As how Hazel knew that, well, she skipped over that memory and focused on the items inside. Some coins, mortar and pestle? must be for the herbs. Hmmm... she pulled out a piece of leather with a strange symbol on it. She didn’t know what it was, but it looked very intruging. Later she should ask about it...or maybe just steal a closer look. After putting it back exactly how she found it the Woman stopped wasting time and ran swiftly back to Kit. “Here you go.” She handed him the bag.

Kit watched as Eshne struggled to stand and, after a few moments fell back to her knees. Either she was the world's greatest actress, or her injuries were very real. Kit stepped closer to her, his tail swishing cautiously behind him as he knelt down in front of her. Without so much as a word, he lifted her shirt just enough to see her ribs, his eyes narrowing.

That was not a normal color....

His paw touched the ribs about as lightly as he could. "Broken nothing.... those things are shattered.... fuck...." Kit grumbled under his breath as his ears pinned back on his head. Ki'Tavi had expected her to dodge, to block, to do something besides let him hit her with everything he had. Why hadn't she even tried to defend herself?!

"One of you. Go grab my pack from the room and bring it to me. Take anything from it and I'll hunt you down...." Kit called over his shoulder. He had already heard Veth leave to fetch Vis, but still, he didn't want to just sit here and do nothing. He'd broken the Goddess of War, and Nox didn't exactly seem like he'd be the kind to forgive something like that. Yeah, as far as Kit saw it, Nox would be coming for his soul any time now...

"Lay down. You aren't in any condition to be trying to move around" Kit ordered, guiding her shoulders so she'd lay down in case she tried to be stubborn, which, frankly, he expected her to be. Moments later, Hazel returned with his pack. "Thanks..." He murmured, setting it down next to himself as he dug out the mortar, pestle, and some of the herbs.

His tail swished behind him as he added the herbs to the mortar, using the pestle to grind it into a paste. Now, Kit was far from being anything remotely resembling a medic. He wasn't able to diagnose sickness, and he couldn't tell specifically what bone in her leg he'd broken. Hell, he didn't even know all that many types of herbs he could use. No, it was simply a matter of he knew a few useful combinations he'd picked up over the years. What he was making now was a special kind of topical painkiller. It was quite useful, but it had a consistency almost like slime, had a milky white coloring from the sap of one of the herbs used, and didn't smell all that pleasant. As for the more dangerous herbs, those were for a select few poisons Ki'Tavi occasionally used. In total, he knew maybe a dozen combinations of herbs for various uses, but that was it, just a bunch of general use combinations he'd picked up as a member of the Phantom Legion. He liked to keep such herbs around just in case he ever needed to treat his own injuries or poison someone at a moment's notice.

"This is a painkiller. It won't take all the pain away, but it'll take the edge off at the very least..." Kit explained as he added more of the herbs to increase the amount of salve he made. Given the extent of her injuries, she'd likely need more than a little of the remedy. Setting the pestle aside and the mortar bowl on the floor he dipped his fingertips into the mixture, using his free hand to lift her shirt to begin applying it in spite of any protests she could try to give him. The fact she had even been able to get back up after that kind of beating was a testament to her will power, but Kit didn't think that meant she wasn't feeling the pain...

Even still, all this would do was take away some of the pain... For any real treatment, she'd need to see a real doctor....

Eshne couldn’t even protest as Kit laid her down, her eyes distant as she struggled to remain awake. She was deathly silent as he began to mix the herbs into a painkiller, spreading it across her broke ribs. She winced at his touch, it causing more discomfort to flare up. The wounded wyrmlord would blink a few times, clearly trying to keep tears from spilling out, although if one were paying attention, they would notice that her eyes were no longer that of a dragon, but appearing as a human’s would with a dull rust-brown in color.

He would be rushing down the hallway as Veth called for him, gesturing for her to follow as he returned to the common room. “Back away.” He shouted at Kit, kneeling down beside his younger sister. Lifting her shirt and examining her wounds with wide, concerned eyes, he would mutter “This isn’t possible…” before looking towards Veth once more. “You are to bring all of them back to your room, all except you.” He would glance towards a confused Katrina. “Make haste.”

”Please tell me how far the faith in those stories gets you.” She would finish before stepping back to once again be in front of the group. As the siren turned triton asked her how magic words, she would open her mouth to begin lecturing when the door to the library opened, Nox giving the Wyrmlord a glare before turning to leave. “Umh- Class dismissed.” She quickly said. “Back to your room immediately.”

To say she was confused and worried was an understatement. Eshne had never gone down in a fight as such before, or at least when she had seen her spar with the others. She couldn’t help but force her way through the small group to get a better look as people began to try and help. Although this effort was halted when Vis entered, ordering everyone back to their room except her.

Once they had all left, she would rush up beside him as he stood. “Uncle Vis what is going on?” He would gaze into her eyes for a long moment before looking back towards Eshne. But before he could explain, the doors were thrown open, Nox storming in with Delta and Zephyr entering behind him. The way his glare tore across the room… this wasn’t good.

However, he didn’t go examine Eshne, who was still on the ground now surrounded by Delta and Zephyr, but towards her. Unable to keep a nervous expression from appearing on her face, she would look up towards the much taller Wyrmking as he looked her over for a moment before grasping her shoulder and angling her away from him before pressing a hand on her upper chest. “Cough.” He commanded, the woman frowning. “W-” “Cough.” He growled, she hesitating for a moment before so. An awful feeling tore through her throat, a mouthful of a black sludge landing on the floor and slowly beginning to sear through the stone. Waiting until the last of it had rid itself from her mouth, the substance having a foul taste, Katrina was even more concerned although Nox seemed pleased. “Good, he hasn’t gotten to you yet.” Her muttered before moving towards Eshne. “Bring her to my room.” He ordered, Zephyr moving to pick her up, she mumbling protests as her shattered bones shifted.

Kat couldn’t help herself, asking “Grandfather, what is happening?” Without facing her, he would respond in a dry tone. “Lucian has decided to level the playing field. All of the damned mortals here are at risk now, you included.” He continued to say before focusing on Delta. “Reinforce the ward around the stronghold and figure out how to keep him from getting to any of them.” With a nod she would quickly leave, moving back towards the door and most likely to the library.

Soon enough Kat was surprisingly left alone as the gods all went to go try and protect against whatever Lucian was trying to do. Seeing as she had nowhere else to go, she would go to the Wyrmchildren’s room, slipping inside and hoping she wouldn’t be attacked with an onslaught of questions she couldn’t answer.

When Vis responded to her calls and appeared, she quickly urged him to go the commons, explaining on the way what had happened to Eshne. When they returned to the commons area, she was hit with the scent of strong herbs. It appeared Kit had been busy while she had been searching for Vis. The reaction Vis had to Eshne's predicament didn't bode well. Veth moved in closer and examined Eshne wondering what is was that 'wasn't possible.' Then she noticed it, brown eyes with a rounded pupil. She wasn't sure what such a thing could mean, but one could assume Eshne was no longer as she was before.

Her attention was drawn away as Vis spoke her name, commanding her to lead their group back to the shared room. She went over to Kit to tug him up to his feet, "This is beyond any of our skills, you've done what you can." It wasn't said with any malice, just matter-of-fact blunt. She turned to the others and motioned for them to leave in the direction of the room, as much as Veth wished to stay herself to know what exactly had occurred, there was no chance they would leave a vulnerable Eshne in their presence.

"You have heard his directions, we are to leave, now." Veth was bothered by having to be ordered around in such a way. She'd spent the last three years free from having to do what others demanded of her. Now she had fallen back into that position of having to follow, rather than be free. Her fists clenched for a moment, but that was the only sign she was feeling something close to anger.

The Orc's whisperings back to her caused Ishnai's neck-fur to stand on end in irritation. They displayed, to her, a foolish ignorance that even stirred some pity for him deep inside of her, behind her frustration with his refusal to let go of his false religion when the Divine was placed right in front of him. Wyrms, by thier very definition, were immortal after all. "Another fallen prey to a false religion, like a field mouse to a wild cat..." she muttered more to herself this time, turning back towards Delta. With the rabbit-kin simply standing there at attention along with the human woman, and the fish-kin trying to avert her attention (likely to little or no avail, Ishnai felt, the animosity coming from Delta and aimed at the Orc feeling quite strong), Ishnai decided that it would be best to follow in the cunicular female's footsteps at the moment. She simply stood at attention, eyes moving back and forth between Delta and Radfor, the air between them tense.

Ishnai had a feeling that Delta had been about to do something rash. However, the Wyrmlord simply delivered a snarky line that likely stung the Orc quite a bit rgiht in the faith, before moving to answer the Triton's question. Before either her or Ishnai's own curiosity could be sated, however, Nox stepped briefly into the room, drawing ishnai's gaze along with likely all the other students' straight to him. The way he briefly glared towards Delta seemed... ominous. What could it mean? Delta's flustered, hurried response seemed to indicate that perhaps they'd find out soon enough, yet she wasn't sure she wanted to know. She had a feeling that it was a matter rather dire in nature. She had many questions, of course, but it didn't seem like her place to ask.

"As you wish, Delta... I remember the way back if you all wish to follow me." Ishnai tired as hard as she could to make her voice seem self-assured, yet confusion and fear seeped its way into her words regardless, making the statement that came out far more uneven and unsure than she'd intended. Still, she bowed in respect to Delta before beginning to make her way out of this vast, tall library, making sure to go at a pace that others could follow at comfortably. She found herself on guard after Delta hurriedly cut her class very short indeed. Something rather dire must be happening, considering how adamant the Wyrmlords were about having them all trained as soon as possible. When she reached the room, Ishnai Rgarded Katrina with a nod, but found no other words for her. It ws clear she was just as confused as she was. The catwoman sat upon her cot whilst she waited for others to gather, hoping someone would know what was happening, perhaps someone who'd been training with Eshne.

Their little lesson in the arcane was interrupted before they even started dabbling with the most basic concepts of magic, as Nox, the reason for all of them being gathered in the massive fortress, entered the library.
The man's expression being more grim than usual, though Darrene wondered how that was even possible. Yet, after seeing Nox for the first time with her new draconic gaze, there was an undeniable aura of power shrouding Katrina's protector in mystery.

The questions she had brought with her when embarking on the pilgrimage to the monolithic fortress still having gone unanswered. And now, after having been reborn in flame, her draconic heritage connecting her with all those present in the fortress, there were even more things she wanted to know.

But as quickly as he had appeared, Nox vanished again, deeper into the stone halls of the castle.
Delta ushering them out of the library as the Wyrmchildren were lead back to their quarters, every step she took making Darrene feel like something wasn't right.

It was blatantly obvious that something was amiss and it was still the same world outside of the massive walls carved from stone. A hostile place where evil still seemed to lurk behind every corner.
Her gloved hand came to massage the nape of her neck, feeling muscle that hadn't been there the day before growing tense.

Arriving at their quarters, Darrene's eyes came to rest on Katrina who had once again joined them.
Something other than questions burning in the warrior's chest as she took a few steps towards the raven-haired woman, making sure to not startle her.
"Katrina?" Darrene spoke, running her fingers through her thick hair, tamed and ending in a wolf tail,
"I wanted to ask you something..." She continued, a hundred ways to complete the sentence pouring into her mind like a powerful waterfall.

Questions.

Personal questions.

Questions about the reason for Nox having summoned all of them here.

Questions about what had happened between them the day before.

Questions on what threat they would have to inevitably face.

Settling on the most pressing one, Darrene's fiery eyes meet the vivid gold of Katrina's own, causing the usually stoic warrior's heart to beat faster.
"Do you know what's happening? Why have we been told to stay here for the time being? Are we in danger, if so I think we should face it instead of covering and hoping it'll blow over." Darrene's mind racing as she realized just how overwhelming the torrent of questions would be to Katrina.

"Pardon me, I should be master over my own emotions. It's just that..." Once again finding herself pondering on how to continue, Darrene could do nothing more than to glare down at Katrina with those reptilian eyes of hers.

Kit moved out of the way at Vis's request, not so much as flinching at the tone or showing any real change in his expression. Frankly, the only thing that shocked him was that he hadn't been attacked immediately once Vis saw the extent of Eshne's injuries. He listened as Vis examined Eshne. It wasn't possible? What did that mean? It wasn't supposed to be possible for him to harm her or..... was it something else?...

He was snapped out of his thoughts when Veth pulled him to his feet and spoke to him. She was right, he'd done all he was able to do at this point. He picked up his pack and what he had taken out, staying close to her with his ears pinned back on his head, showing the agitation that he managed to keep off his face.

Kit had seen Eshne's eyes.

As he was applying the painkiller, he'd kept glancing up at her eyes to be sure she stayed awake. Her draconian eyes seemed... less draconian now... What the hell could that even mean?! Too many questions, not enough answers.

He noticed Veth's hand clench as he followed her out. For someone that showed so little emotion, such an action spoke volumes. It seemed that he wasn't the only one agitated by the way things were going right now. As they returned to their room, he made sure to meet her gaze, saying without words that she could talk to him if need be. She'd been there for him once, the least he could do is repay that favor.

With that, he made his way to his cot, setting his bag down on the bed and producing a whetstone from within. Taking out his daggers, he proceeded to sharpen them one by one in order to occupy himself. You see, as much as he tried to hide it, he was anxious. Although her injuries didn't seem life-threatening to him, they were still pretty bad. Frankly, he was expecting some sort of punishment. Given what he had suffered through before, he could only imagine the kind of torture he'd endure for something like this.

Then again, they might just outright kill him for this offense....

If such was the case, he wasn't about to let himself be killed easily. Did he stand a chance? No. Not even a snowball's chance in hell. Even still, he couldn't just let himself go softly into that final goodnight. Kit hoped it wouldn't come to that, but given the temper Nox had displayed thus far, Kit wasn't at all assured that he would live to see the next day.

At this point, his lifetime as a mercenary seemed incredibly safe compared to what he was dealing with in this castle..

Veth was losing her patience. Too many questions, no answers. Nothing! Orders! Demands! Had any of them asked to be put in this position? There were a few that were pleased with their so-called relation to the 'gods' of their world. Veth had tried to wait to see what would be revealed, but there was nothing to show her anything as verifiable truth. She caught Kit's gaze at one point, but there was nothing she wanted to discuss with him. She averted her eyes and walked away to linger at the door of their room.

"To Nether with this, if I am going to risk myself, I am not going to do so blindly," she thought to herself. This was probably a death sentence, but she could no longer sit idly by and wait. She left the room. She didn't know where they were, but she was going to find one of them; Vis, Delta, Zephyr, or even Nox himself. She took a step forward and began to open doors, searching for the dragons. Veth knew this was probably one of her most irrational ideas, a foolish way to die, but they all deserved to know what was going on. Veth could only hope that she'd survive whatever encounter she was walking into. If she did survive, Midas was going to give her so much shit for this too.

But sure enough, she would be approached by Darrene, the woman looking down into her eyes with an intense glare, Katrina having to avert her gaze. “I-I’m sorry…” She would force out. “I don’t know.” Truthfully she knew part of what was going on, but half truths weren’t as good as full lies, and the last thing she wanted to do was start some rumors.

Before she could continue to speak to the human woman, Veth would slip out the door behind her. Eyes wide she would quickly turn and follow, knowing that there would be consequences if she were caught outside the room. “Veth!” She cried, following behind her. But, Kat unfortunately wasn’t able to get her attention fast enough when she came upon the massive door to Nox’s room, it already being ajar. Unable to take the terrified look from her face, she would enter as well, about to whisper her name when a horrid sight filled her gaze.

The room was nearly pitch black, the ceiling reaching impossible heights. But still visible not too far into the room was Eshne apparently alone, lying on the stone floor. However she was without clothing and her entire body covered in severe burns, her form unmoving.

After a moment's chat with Ishnai, they were called to their respective training sessions. Aellai had expected it though and went with the flow, excitedly preparing for the combat session. She wanted to see what all the otherkin had up their sleeves or in their fur. The sparring was exciting. After a few bouts Eshne quickly proved that her reputation was no lie. She was ferocious and strategic in battle and it made Aellai bounce from foot to foot with nervous energy.

Soon, Kit stepped forward but the tide of battle turned quickly. Eshne didn't even different herself and it was as if her light had faded. Her eyes were dull and Aellai could not spot the dragon's iris. Veth ran to search for Vis and in the meantime Kit leaned down to treat the wyrmlord after his bag had been retrieved. Aellai watched the proceedings, her energy becoming muted with some worry. Suddenly, Vis entered with Veth and ushered everyone away from his fellow wyrmlord.

She watched Veth lead a stricken Kit away and everyone proceeded to make a hastened exit. Aellai slowly followed. In the past few days, all of the new events had kept her busy as a bee. Her mouth scrunched up into a grimace, she entered the communal room and paused just on the inside, looking at the rest of the wyrmchildren. Ishnai sat on her cot. Veth turned and walked back out looking like a harpy on the hunt. Kit had found a seat on his cot and looked rather under the weather. She watched him sharpen his daggers. In all the time she'd been here at the castle she hadn't been her usual chirpy self. She'd been quieter, more the observer than the actor. Perhaps it was time to get back to her usual pace.

Aellai approached the beast-man gingerly. She called to him, "Kit. I wish to say something." She slowly reached forward to touch his shoulder, keeping an eye on his dagger. She wasn't sure if this was appropriate in his culture but the harpyiai were big on touch as a means to comfort and show affection. Preening each other's loved ones was common. "I don't think the wyrmlords are angry at you. What happened in there.." She paused searching for the words before moving forward. "It was definitely not you. You saw how Eshne fought, she's strong. Something must have happened. Her eyes were different. You fought well and you stopped when you saw something was wrong. It was honorable." She smiled softly, hoping she wasn't overstepping her boundaries.

-RADFOR BORA'URUG-
half_orc___dungeons_and_dragons_by_wandererfromys-d5hsrbz.jpg
Radfor seethed in silent anger as the dark skinned woman berated his beliefs. How dare she disparage the gods he held so highly in respect!? The hubris of these Wyrms was indeed larger than he expected. But his belief in his gods was almost half the reason he kept going; they were watching over him, he was certain. How else would he have befriended those giant eastern spiders without the aid of the gods themselves? Delta would not shake his faith, and he was confident that the Orcish Lords would continue to help carve his path. Delta walked back to the middle of the room and turned, obviously ready to get on with the lesson now, and Radfor let out a slow sigh as she did. He was never that good at staring contests, and it was a wonder he survived as long as he did without blinking.

However, before Delta could even get another word out concerning the lesson, the doors opened behind them and.....Nox appeared. Fear settled in Radfor's chest as he tried to get a good look at the black cloaked man. Nox's stare was boring straight into Delta, and unlike Radfor's, he could tell that this stare immediately unsettled her. Hurriedly, she dismissed the class and told them to return to their rooms as she left with Nox, leaving a whole room of confused Wyrmchildren behind. Radfor raised an eyebrow at their antics, but he dared not follow them. Slowly, like the others around him, he began to make his way back to their chambers.

The cat woman who had whispered to him led the way, evidently because she actually knew where she was going, which Radfor was grateful for. He was a great tracker, but he had found himself confused by the very halls of the fortress they were in. He made a mental note to remember the way back as they walked. They eventually made their way back to the chambers, the odd looking elf woman slinking by them as they arrived. She was either a fool or much braver than Radfor was....for now, he could not say. He entered the room and returned to his cot, sitting down for a moment and picking up his longsword. He drew it from its scabbard and observed it for a moment before returning it and rubbing his right shoulder with his left hand. His scar was acting up again....like it usually did in stressful situations. He was surprised it hadnt been acting up the entire time he had been here. He sighed, unsure of what to do next. Perhaps some of the others knew what was happening....? He glanced around the room, and a certain pair caught his attention; the cat warrior he has tried to challenge last night, and a Harpy that, strangely enough, he hadn't noticed before. He made a mental note to try and take roll of all who was here at one point. With the cat warrior being the only person around he had even spoken to, he stood and made his way over to him and the Harpy, trying to look as un-intimidating as possible. Despite what was going on, he was still trying to make some friends. Once he reached them, he crossed his arms over his chest before adressing them with a concerned look.
"Greetings. Do you either of you two know as to what's happening? Did something happen in the combat group?"

Veth only noticed Katrina following after finding a door slightly opened, an unpleasant scent wafting from the room. She didn't spare the girl a glance as she pushed open the door to reveal a darkened room, stepping inside without invitation. There was no turning back, she'd already left the safety of the shared room. She'd defied the orders and had now trespassed into this room. She ventured in further, keeping her steps as light as possible, she easily spotted the body of Eshne; nude and with worse injuries than what she had endured after Kit's assault.

She calmly walked over to Eshne, unsure if the woman was even still alive. Once Veth was within reach of the injured woman, she held the back of her hand up to her nose as the scent of burnt flesh overpowered her sense of smell. She knelt down, pausing to glance at Katrina before looking back down at Eshne. What had they done to her? Shouldn't they have treated her for her wounds from earlier? Why was she now covered in burns? "I know I have no right to ask this of you Lady Katrina, but we cannot leave her in such a state. I do not wish to cause her discomfort... if she still lives, so moving her currently isn't an option. I've no training in medicine, but earlier she had called for Vis. Does he have an ability to soothe these injuries?"

Veth didn't ask Katrina if she knew who was responsible for this act, but based upon the horror in the girl's eyes, she didn't seem to know this had been done to Eshne. To ask such questions of Katrina would be pointless, but Veth was going to find out what had happened here, but she worried that the truth was far more disturbing that she could imagine. There had been no others within the castle that she took notice of. Vis had been concerned, so then why would Eshne have been allowed to suffer injuries such as these? Where were Delta, Zephyr, Vis, and Nox? Surely they would have been interested in healing their kin, not abandon her in this dark room, alone and vulnerable. Part of her felt terrified at the possibility that this was done by one of them, but who else could have committed such an act? If they were supposed to be gods, shouldn't they easily be able to protect themselves and others? They could also just as easily harm each other.

She inhaled deeply through her mouth, leaning down to try and see if Eshne was still breathing. She needed to focus on this right now. "Lady Katrina, if you know of any way or person to help Eshne, I suggest you hurry."

The fight ended in a complete twist, Leaving midas to stare. What had just happened? He took another bite of bread, resting against the wall as he watched everything unfold

To say he was pleased to see this was wrong. He hated it. He saw the goddess in pain. Saw her struggle. She was probably going to prove a point, But when the Cat laid her out in such a way...it wasnt right. When she was bleeding and unable to stand, it was clear this had gone wrong. As the elf had vanished from the room to get the others, as hazel ran to get the cat's bag, as He began to do his best to help the fallen goddess, midas only watched, staying silent.

He watched as Vis entered, and checked over the woman, before ordering them all to return to the room. Again, he remained silent, watching everything play out before him. Normally he would have something to say by now, make a statement, express how something was very wrong with all this, but it had became clear nobody cared for his ramblings.

"Fuckin idiots." He grumbled, making his way back to his cot. Laying himself out,he closed his eyes. Had they pushed, asked questions, hell, had these "gods", a title he was quickly losing faith in, told them the truth, explained everything, maybe just maybe, they could help...

"All of them...bunch of fuckin idiots..."

"Kit. I wish to say something."

Ki'Tavi was snapped from his thoughts as a voice spoke to him. He had been trying to make sense of things. He wanted to know why Eshne's eyes had changed, and why she hadn't bothered to defend herself. Maybe this was some kind of sick payback for the ass slap to get Nox to kill him. Fuck if he knew anymore. This place made less and less sense the longer he was here.

The Harpy continued, trying to reassure him that the dragons weren't going to be mad at him. So it seemed he wasn't the only one that thought there was something definitely off about Eshne when he fought her. That was good. He'd be seriously concerned if the woman was that vindictive that she'd let such injuries happen just to get back at him. Still though, that left more questions as to what the hell had changed between when she fought Hazel and when she fought Kit.

He barely kept his blank expression when she mentioned that him stopping himself was honorable. Honor had nothing to do with it. He had stopped because he smelled a trap, that was it. Hell, the only reason he even bothered to administer a painkiller was to save his own ass. When the other dragons found out what happened, it'd look better on him if he'd done something to give her aid instead of just sitting back and watching her squirm. That would, he hoped, be enough to keep him off the chop block for breaking her in the first place. About this time, he noticed Veth slink out, likely to go searching for answers. Honestly, that seemed to him like a stupid thing to do, but it's not like he could stop her. So he focused back on the current conversation.

"Thanks... Glad to know I don't look like a total bastard..." He chuckled a little bit. Honestly, it was a touch reassuring that, even to those looking on, it didn't look like he'd crossed any lines. Even still, until this situation resolved, he'd be on edge wondering if Nox was coming for his soul.

Then along came the orc. Kit really wasn't in any mood to get sucked into another fight.

"Greetings. Do you either of you two know as to what's happening? Did something happen in the combat group?"

"Something happened, but I'm not sure what. Eshne had us spar her one at a time. Her reputation seemed well earned. When I fought her though, something changed that I can't rightly explain. Now she's got shattered ribs and a broken leg" He said, keeping an eye on the orc in case he took that explanation and tried to twist it into a challenge. He purposely omitted the part about her eyes because that would only trigger more rumors. Instead, he stuck to the facts. He'd fought her, and he'd broken her. How anyone chose to interpret that was on them.

Kit just really wasn't looking for a fight right now...

Located: Wyrmchildren Room; A victim of her cheery attitude has been chosen again

Hazel did as the Gods told, went right back to where she just ran from. There was some chatter about as she walked across the room. Some were questioning what had just happened. A few were notably missing, Well his two from what Hazel could tell. The Elf woman, Beth? Veth?, Anyways She and another...the odd dragon out from before. Kat? Or Katrina? Names seem to float about all the time in these chambers. Hazel would get them all right eventually. All she remembered was once observing the Elf giving a hard time to Kit, which was amusing, and Miss Kat getting along well with Darlene. Though Hazel wasn't sure if she had a regular conversation with either, but she did indeed failed to spot them in this room. Maybe they were in a corner of the room the dancer just couldn’t see.

Wha she could see was Kit being questioned by a pretty Harpy woman and a curios orc along with Midas mumbling under his breath at his cot. Hazel chucked and decided to sit on the cot beside Midas. “Found another reason to be pissed at the world?” She rested her head into her hands. She had no idea if the cot she was sitting in belonged to someone else’s but nonetheless she say and made conversation. Maybe some one else would join her in ruining the brooding parade Midas seemed To be constantly running.

Katrina hear Veth, about to move when another presence was felt behind her. Turning around she would see Vis, the Wyrmlord sighed as he moved past her and then past the elf, kneeling beside his sister. She was alive… although that was quite a stretch. “Nox wanted to… check to see if she was indeed cursed to be mortal. Despite my protests he still set her in a pool of molten rock. You’re lucky he is so consumed with himself right now, as this-” he would gesture to the room around them. “Is his dwelling. Now let us go before his emotions get the better of him.”

He would usher the two women out, carrying Eshne as he followed after thew. But they didn’t go to the wyrmchildren’s room but up the stairs to the main level of the stronghold, entering a room they hadn’t before. “Since you were so curious as to leave the room and search for answers.” Vis began while entering. “You can help me tend to her.”

He would cause the bed to be coated in a thick layer of flora, the scent of aloe beginning to potently waft about Eshne’s bedroom. Lying her down on the surface, he would summon a large pile of the fronds on the end of the bed, taking one and beginning to gently lay it across her wounds.

Sitting cross-legged upon her cot, she watched others stream in. She was debating speaking to Kat, though she was afraid of Nox's wrath should she cavort with her as it was clear from earlier that he did not want the Wyrmchildren doing so. Then, Darrene entered the room, the woman who, evidenced by earlier, had decided to fly in the face of those consequences regardless. Now was clearly no expectation for her, and as Darrene approached and questioned her, Ishnai's keen ears overheard, and she sighed. If Nox's daughter had no idea, did anyone? When the others streamed in, Ishnai waved to a few of them such as Kit and Aellai, but they seemed preoccupied with trying to figure out what was going on, or in Kit's case, sulking for some reason. As was her usual, Ishnai shifted her attention to observing them then, taking in every weord of thier conversation and after listening to a large amount of it, Kit's recount especially, she began to feel a deep sense of dread. Eshne... a Wyrmlord, and the goddess of war herself, injured by one who is both a Lesser Wyrm and newly one at that? Something very foul was ongoing.... to keep herself from panicking or wavering, Ishnai thoughti t best to simply close her eyes as she was and meditate as best she can despite the noise in the room, repeating a Feline mantra of Vis that calmed her spirit. It did work to keep her calm, and then finally, Delta arrived in the room once more, her presence and words offering comfort in a way, even though her very presence was imposing and her words demanding.

Hopping up from her cot, Ishnai would approach the front of the room again, beginning to line up with the others, her posture straight, her pace quikc and the feline likely one of the first to the front. She'd been given an order by a Wyrmlorde and must follow it. That was the only reliable certainty and comfort she had at the moment, so her heart latched onto it like the paw of a cub unto her mother's. She would nod at each other Wyrmchilde she had passed, reserving a smile (albeit forced, considering the situation) for Aellai, and a clap on the shoulder for Kit whenever she passed him. "It is not your doing," she whispered as she passed the male feline.

Holding her tongue and deciding not to question Delta despite the lump forming in her throat in response to how very dire the situation seemed to be getting, Ishna stood at attention and allowed the others to gather beside her, lowering her head. "Mortalility reversion?" She found herself muttering regardless out of disbelief, likely loudly enough for most close to her to hear. "Does this mean Eshne.... all of them... even Vis... could... die?" She was expecting no answer, but Delta was likely to overhear her.

Letting go of a sigh, Darrene would run a gloved hand through her tamed dark hair, raising an eyebrow at Katrina as she seemed to be just as clueless as the rest of them.
"I am sorry for bothering you, I..." But before the human warrior could continue, Nox's protege had slipped past her and left the chambers, leaving Darrene standing there with a worried expression on her face.

Something was not right, and being left in the dark was the worst possible feeling Darrene knew. Unable to lend her aid or to change the outcome of the events that were unfolding without her knowing.
It was tearing at her and she almost gave in to her desire to simply follow Katrina and see what the commotion was really about.

What were Nox and his children so afraid of.
What had happened to Eshne...
Nothing seemed to make sense and Darrene couldn't shake off the feeling of something vile lurking behind the scenes, waiting to pounce on the unsuspecting Wyrmchildren.

Delta's appearance only seemed to affirm her suspicions that something was very wrong, but without wasting a second, Darrene stepped forward, feeling her broad shoulders tense up as the Wyrmlord spoke of something the warrior could not quite make sense of.
Ishnai's words made Darrene's fiery eyes wander over to the feline, raising an eyebrow at her.
"But how could something like this happen? This doesn't make any sense, there's foul play somewhere. Why are we being gathered here like sheep to the slaughter instead of finding who's responsible?" The warrior spoke in hushed whispers, feeling her heart beat stronger as the fiery inside her surged, directing the bottled-up frustration over their current predicament towards an unknown foe.

Veth's attention was drawn away from Eshne when Vis approached. Her body tensed, not sure what to expect from the green-eyed man. It was hard to trust anyone here, least of all these wyrmlords themselves. She remained where she was though, kneeling next to Eshne's body. When he spoke about Nox placing Eshne in molten lava to check for mortality, a cold hatred rushed through her. Veth was beginning to believe Nox was a heartless, selfish god. She hadn't interacted with his children enough to determine if they, like Nox, so easily harmed others without consideration.

When Vis pointed out that they were currently lingering in Nox's room, she didn't argue against the advice that they should leave before he returned. If he was willing to do this to his own daughter, if Veth was found here, she would probably suffer a worse fate. She silently followed Vis with Katrina into a different area of the castle. Vis summoned forth magical plants for Eshne to lay upon, stating that since Veth had been daring enough to leave the room, she should help tend to Eshne.

Eshne may have seemed harsh and cocky, but she didn't seem cruel, nor deserving of what had been done to her. "Very well, just direct me in how I may assist, though I must ask how this has come to happen. How did Lady Eshne become mortal?"
