"I guess we shall hold that thought." Hazel turned her gaze from Midas over to Delta. "Mortality Reversion...." She muttered whilr joining the forming line up. Weren't they already mortal? Hushed tones were spoken around her. Hazel herself was very confused. Trying go brush off all the events of the last day or too as an adventurous journey was starting to fail her optimistic integrity.

She straightened up her posture nonetheless. There was a burning desire for answers in her. Since the moment this started, if she was honest, she wanted to be like the others: angry, upset, questioning, snooping, resisting, breaking, and so many more emotions, but everyone else was already feeling such ways. Its didn't stop her from feeling so...but she couldn't act direclty from what she felt were these nasty feelings inside. Instead Hazel smiled. "Miss Delta," she said out loud. " Is there anything you can tell us about what's going on?"Her tone was polite and calm. She didn't want to make a fuss and would not speak if her questions were ignored. Hazel just wanted to sate the terribleness building in her with a question or two. " At the least, could we know how Eshne is doing? Is she alright?" With that small indulgence over with she closed her mouth and waited. If not now, answers should come later. They had to.

Cranea turned her around to see Delta. She told everyone to stand in a line. This whole scenario was just mind boggling to her. First not even being able to start class with Delta before being dismissed back to the room. Obviously she was worried something had happened , Not worried but scared , the Wyrmlords wanted all of them to train right away , What could of happened that was so bad it required for everyone to go into the there resting quarters. She didn't even know who to ask or talk to she sat down with her head in her hands her palms covering her eyes as her mind was not processing quick enough the severity of the situation that was going on around her .

Delta was talking about a mortality reversion , and also among everything that was going on there was talking about Eshne. Putting both of them together obviously something really bad had happened to her , did one of the wyrmchildren slap the immortality out of Eshne? Or was there something more sinister going on, Ever since she got here she has blindly put her safety and life in the hands of Nox who obviously hated them even breathing here , or just in general, it made cranea upset and this was just another reason why she was so withdrawn with the group who where "blessed" with this power , but obviously it was too late to just walk up and leave . And with the franticness of all the gods and every wyrmchilden being almost quarantined! something was not right , no one was prepared for what was going on . Cranea was fairly certain that she was not the only one without answers and having more questions than they'd like. She got into a line looking around her , Hazel asking a question that Cranea had in mind also , but obviously these beings who loved there secrecy she doubted that anyone them would be told anything unless they where forced.

Cranea did not like this , this whole journey was fun and all but clearly Nox and the other are snot telling everyone the whole truth or being truthful to begin with. Cranea crossed her arms consumed in her own thoughts as she scoffed. "Damn it all..." she said aggravated , betraying her usual calm and quiet demeanor.

Sadly, the magic lesson never went anywhere. Lorella had asked a good question, she felt. One that would finally win her the respect and approval from Delta that she sought so eagerly. Before Delta had a chance to respond to her question and, Lorella believed, compliment her on her question, Nox entered the doorway to the library, causing Delta to dismiss everyone.

Disappointed, Lorella followed the others back to the room. She had been legitimately excited to learn magic. What was so important that it caused them to delay the class? Delta had seemed not just surprised but worried. What had happened?

As Darrene spoke to the woman, Katarina, Lorella could feel those desires for revenge resurfacing, a payback for being slighted in the room when they first arrived when Katarina ignored her.. It would be so easy to tell the gods, particularly Nox, about the relationship. Watching the god yell at the woman would be worth it.

No. Lorella shook her head. Was this to be who she was? Was she to be the same person she was? Or was she committed to this change? Was she to become someone brand new? Was there a new path to travel? All her life has been a battle: a battle against tritons, a battle against humans. All of this for simply being a siren, something she had no choice over.

Now, though, there was another. A group of gods who caller wyrmchilde and a group of wyrmchilde who would call her sister. They claimed her for a higher purpose, a war against the dragon Lucian. Could it be now that she was the fight for the world, a world that had always hated her?

Her life had been lived for by a simple tennant. Take an eye for an eye. Turn your heart into stone. Kill or be killed. It was all she had ever lived for. It was all she had known.

Yet, if Nox and the others were to be believed, she had a soul. All it could have taken is a single word from Delta or Nox, and she would have been back as a siren fighting for her life from her now fellow wyrmchildes. Her new shape, all of this, had been an offering of freedom. A chance for her to escape the past, to escape the life that awaited her as a siren: a new path to travel.

Yes. She had to escape from her past self. From the world of Lorella the Siren. The siren is nothing now. Another had to take its place. Lorella the....triton. The triton wyrmchilde. This was who she was.

Renewed with confidence, Lorella escaped from her mind as she reacquainted herself with the conversations in the room. She heard the catman speak of the combat training. Eshne had been seriously injured, by him, no less. Was it simply the strength of their new powers? Could they truly damage gods? Perhaps this was some foreshadowing of the strength they would use to defeat Lucian.

As Delta entered the room, Lorella quitely did as she asked. Mortal reversion? It reminded Lorella of that thing Delta had said: Do not take it [the new form] for granted. Now Eshne was no longer a wyrmlord? Had Delta known this was coming? Had she caused it? Was this why she had mentioned such a thing to Lorella? No. That wasn’t who Delta was. She seemed wise, yes, but she certainly seemed like the second alpha around her besides Nox. “Do not take it for granted,” Lorella stated to Delta. “It seems your wisdom is more relevant than ever now, Mother, for both wyrmlords and wyrmchildes.”

It seemed that Ki'Tavi really was off the hook. As Delta entered and mentioned Mortality reversion, several things started to make sense, her eyes, the way she had suddenly been so helpless. If they knew the cause, then that likely meant Ki'Tavi wasn't in any danger of retribution for his actions. T'was a good sign. Slipping the smaller throwing daggers in his sleeve and tucking the bigger, curved-guard fighting daggers into their sheaths on his back, he made his way to the line, feeling a clap on his shoulder from the other feline as he passed.

He just nodded his head, giving a bit of a smile as if her words reassured him.

Even if he was off the hook for breaking the goddess of war, though, there were other issues to consider. What had made her mortal again? He'd never taken his eyes off of her between the sparring matches. So when had it happened? Had he somehow missed some crucial detail or was it something that even his keen gaze could not detect. Something like that, something so dangerous and invisible was truly a threat not to be taken lightly.

His ears turned as the others asked about Eshne's wellbeing. He didn't need to ask to know she was likely in a world of hurt. He hadn't pulled any punches, and he'd quite deliberately attacked the body's weak points. It was a tactic more often seen by smaller fighters. Rather than win with brute strength, they would strike the weakest points, disrupt the opponent's balance, and destroy the opponent that way. However, he was not a small fighter. Those strikes had weight behind them, and that final kick to the head...

Kit wondered if Eshne would even remember the fight later... For his own sake, he was probably better off if she didn't....

Midas gave a grumble as hazel spoke to him, giving a glance. What could he say? She had helped him before, and he was greatful for that...he didnt want to upset her. He didnt get the chance to say anything, as these gods were back.

Asked to line up, Midas gave a grumble. Mortality reversion? The hell did that even mean..? Pushing himself up, he followed hazel over, and got in line. Even with the rather irritablw look, he sighed, giving hazel a nudge"Im...Im fine. Just...still got alot on my mind. Dont worry..." he looked over he gods with curiousity, listening to hazel's question, along wih the others. He chuckled"Dont bother. They just want us to follow blindly. They dont care if we want to or not. Why would they tell us?" His worda were more toward the others, not the gods. Why waste their breath? No use getting thier hopes up...

"Thanks... Glad to know I don't look like a total bastard..." Aellai nodded happy that she could provide some comfort, no matter how little. Kit appeared to be set at ease or at the very least the edge was off him. She turned as she heard the gruff voice of the orc man who she hadn't yet been able to speak to. She honestly hadn't paid the man much attention other than her initial intake at the variety of different races here in the castle. It was still a wonder to her how they all came together. He inquired as to the events that occurred and Aellai quieted, allowing kit to explain more fully.

He seemed to tense again and she peered at the orc curiously wondering if he would be angry. She felt that the beast-man wasn't at fault but maybe he was right in thinking that others wouldn't be as inclined to think like she did. Her thoughts and the brief silence was cut short by the water wyrmlord walking into the communal room. She instructed them to line up and to be hasty about it. Aellai fluttered into position at the front of the room with the others, flashing a quick return smile to Ishnai, enjoying the acknowledgment. Ishnai was the first to question Delta about the instruction. "Mortality reversion?Does this mean Eshne.... all of them... even Vis... could... die?"

Aellai glanced to her but shook her head, setting her eyes on Delta nervously. Hushed tones floated around and as the others returned Hazel spoke up more firmly, inquiring Delta to address the situation. Aellai added, "Is this Mortality reversion what occurred to the Wyrmlord Eshne? Who would do that to the Wyrmlord?"

”Take the fronds and lay them on her skin. Even though she was used to following orders, she didn’t want to see someone so close to her in pain anymore.

As people began to mutter among themselves, Delta frowned. “You want to know what is going on? Fine then. Lucian is now trying to curse everyone single one of us to keep us from finding and defeating him. Regardless of this fact, we are not going to chase after someone when he don’t even know their location nor are we going to send the all of you like lambs to the slaughter. Should you chose to not want to obey and remain here, please step forward so we can arrange other plans for you.” The woman’s glare cut across the group sharply, her intentions should they wish to disobey clear.

“And you.” She would turn towards Lorella. “Let me say that Eshne is more than lucky to have her godhood stripped from her.”

Surprise crossed his face as midas looked toward the goddess. They were actually talking? Answering them?...lucian...who was lucian again? He knew that name...right, Nox's brother...ah shit...

Pinching the bridge of his nose, Midas took a breath, before shaking his head." Ok...look. Ive been pretty vocal about all this...I dont like it. I dont like how some of this went..."with a shaky sigh, he shrugged. "I Havent been the most...understanding person, but please, Check what you gotta check. Least i can do..."

Veth watched at first as Katrina grabbed the fronds and began to place them on Eshne's burnt flesh. She grabbed a few herself, carefully placing them as well. Though Eshne was not conscious, she didn't want to risk inflicting pain resulting in the woman waking. She didn't think this would be enough to heal her. She'd only ever seen one person who had survived severe burns before, skin scared permanently as though it had been melted and seemed to still be in pain long after they had healed. It wasn't a fate most deserved.

"You have still not answered the most pressing question," she said to Vis as she continued in her task, "Why is Eshne mortal? How did this come to happen? Based upon your surprise, surely it couldn't have been the result of your own work." Nox may have been responsible for Eshne's current suffering, but someone else was for making Eshne a mortal. If Nox had done it himself, there would have been no need for him to test her at all, not unless he did so with the purpose to be misleading. Could Nox have done that? She didn't know, but she was tired of having to speculate.

-Conspiracy.-

Their current predicament was less than pleasant to Darrene. Having one's hands tied and being unable to act against a foe that tried to use cheap tricks to get rid of them was somewhat insulting to the woman's belief in honor and chivalry.

"Are we just that for him? A nuisance he does intent to rid himself of with vile curses?" The already less than flattering image Darrene had of the Wyrmking of Light started to paint him more and more like the Infernal lords of treachery that reigned over the underworld of her faith.

Darrene had always been praised as being very collected and stoic leader that would not give into her temper, and yet she could not help herself but clench her fists at the thought of having to endure such an attempt on their lives. With no way to retaliate this act of aggression.

A sigh escaped the woman's lips as she brushed her gloved fingers through her dark hair, her fiery gaze coming to rest on the Wymlord as she tamed her emotions. Misdirected anger and outbursts of foolhardiness
had no place within these sturdy stone walls.

They had just been reborn as Dragons, and they were far from masters of their elements, not to mention tapping into the true might their draconic heritage. Preparations had to be made, training would take up most of their time and only then could they even dare to entertain the thought of facing Lucien.

Resting her hand on her chest, Darrene felt the fire in her heart grow less fierce, directing her passion towards more productive thoughts that would only strengthen her resolve.
"Lady Delta, I apologize for being so wroth. May I ask what our next step would be. It is clear Lucian has no intention of allowing us to prepare to face him in battle but rather prefers trying to stop us dead in our tracks already."

Ishnai's toothy, feline smile brightened upon having it returned by the harpy. Subsequently, her clap on Kit's shoulder, accompanied by encouraging words, brought a smile out of him, though she could still see much weariness in her eyes despite it. Wishing them both well within her mind, Ishnai then simply stood before Delta as asked, listening to all the whispered banter around her with a bit of disdain. They all seemed to doubt the gods so much when they deemed to teach thier Wyrmchildren how to use their abilities for the betterment of the world. It seemed selfish to her, who had been raised to revere dragons as the highest gods. It seemed rather odd to her: the others saw her culture was primitive, but it seemed clear to her that they had the right idea about religion now. In fact, it was another dragon who was causing such devastation to his kin, Delta then informed the group in response to their whispers. Only another Wyrmlord, and a very powerful one at that, could likely do such a thing anyway. It all seemed to make perfect sense to Ishnai... but it certainly did not make the situation seem any less dire.

These thoughts were then halted by words that one of the humans, the man named Midas, said that surprised Ishnai a bit, yet brought her some hope. He had been among the most stubborn to accept his truth as Wyrmchilde, yet now he was ready to allow what one of the Wyrmlords commanded should happen, to happen. This seemed to be a good omen to Ishnai, but she could only hope that all the others that still rebelled followed in his wake.

Then, words from Darrene seemed to cut a swath through the room. Another who had been very defiant at first, but now was simply asking what should be done about this sitatution. "I am wondering the same, goddess, though pardon my own bluntness. What is it we must do? We clearly cannot ignore this anymore."

Hazel listened to the answers from Delta. It truly surprised her honestly, she wasn't really expecting any information. She stayed in place. There was no telling if stepping forwards would lead to her demise or not and she wanted to see this whole thing through to what ever end it was. They just got these new forms and now apparently have untrained abilities in magic, there was now way she was going to leave now. Midas and Darrene spoke beside her. She listened to him sorta accept what was going on more so than before and her along with another asking for what they should do next.. Hazel herself stayed silent. Delta seemed on edge from the recent events, one answer may be all they'll get.

Lorella listened to the answers Delta provided. Lucky to be mortal? That was certainly an interesting expression for Delta to use. Did Delta and the other wyrmlords regret their likely immortality and responsibility? It opened a new can of worms that Lorella had never considered before. After all, what mortal wouldn’t want to be a god?

Lorella would have been all too eager to have an enlightening conversation with Delta about that train of thought, but there was a time and a place for everything. This time was certainly not it. There was more pressing matters to deal with.

As more of the group continued to ask questions, Lorella felt it necessary for the group to not forget the more pressing matter: had any of them lost their powers? “I know we’ve got a lot of questions and concerns, but for now let’s not ambush Delta and let her get the inspections she needs to do done.” Lorella nodded at Delta, hoping that her comment would allow Delta to move on with her task. Lorella was more than a little anxious to find out if she had been affected or not.

Not botherin to answer any more questions, she would begin with the person on the far left of the line was formed, it being Midas. “This is going to check to see if Lucian managed to curse you all as well, as he is now aware that Nox gathered you all here.” Without waiting for a response, she would grab hold of his arm, push up his sleeve should it be down, and drive a knife into his forearm, dragging it down a ways before removing the blade. While it was slightly painful, the wound would seal itself within moments, the Wyrmlord nodding and moving onto the next person.

Soon everyone had been checked, and thankfully no one had been cursed. Upon realizing this Delta would nod and return back to the center of the room, speaking again. “Now, if any of you have questions, speak now and I will answer them how I wish.”

This was a rare opportunity that most if not all of them would take.

Vis would take a moment to answer Veth’s questions, Katrina listening but remaining silent as he did. “Lucian placed a curse on her. Meaning her godhood was stripped until we either find a way to reverse it, or, Lucian releases his control of it. I am more hopeful for the former, but the latter might be her only option.”

Fable Fable

Darrene would watch in horror as Delta would plunge the blade into Midas' arm, dragging the dagger through his flesh, her eyes widening as she tried to protest...
But simply remained silent as she watched the wound heal within seconds, leaving not a single mark on the young man's skin.

The Wyrmlord would continue this procedure until it was finally Darrene's turn, the warrior gritting her teeth as her body was still very much trying to keep itself from harm. And the prospect of having a blade shoved into your forearm and potentially bleeding to death was not a pleasant thought.

Inhaling sharply the fiery-eyed woman would watch the blade pierce her flesh, the sting of metal followed by a dark stream of crimson running down Darrene's pale skin...
Only for the wound to heal almost instantly, embers flickering as flesh seemed to heat up and mend itself, leaving nothing but steam drifting skywards.

Examining her unscathed arm, Darrene would run her fingertips over the warm flesh, clenching her fist as she couldn't help but chuckle.
Raising her gaze to meet Delta, Darrene lowered her scale mail's sleeve, putting her gloves back on.

"Are we truly immortal? Or is there a way for us to truly be harmed? And why would Lucien strip Eshne off her godhood, isn't he your father, just like Nox?" The warrior would ask, crossing her arms in front of her chest as she leaned back, balancing her tall frame on her strong legs.
"And when are we going to be ready to face him?"

Lucian. She'd not heard the name of Nox's brother till she had come here. Nox and his children already shrouded themselves in mystery and secrecy. If Lucian had the power to make Eshne mortal, what was stopping him from doing it to all the other wyrmlords? Right now, she couldn't tell who was worse between the brothers. From her limited interaction with Nox and seeing his work upon Eshne... she did not like him at all. Lucian however, had made Eshne vulnerable as a mortal during the training. Had he known she was going to be injured as a result of his removal of her godhood?

Veth did not care for any of them, these 'gods.' They hadn't shown much that made them likeable. Their followers had this blind faith in them, these assumptions based on stories that could have been handed down for centuries that were warped over time. The only one among them that seemed to have any humanity was Vis, but was that really his true demeanor? Perhaps it wasn't humanity she saw within him, perhaps the smallest hint of compassion or sympathy. Maybe she was being too hopeful that at least one of them had some redeeming quality.

"If he can truly make her mortal, why hasn't he done it to all of you? Why only now if this was an option for him all this time?/color"

StoneWolf18 StoneWolf18
-Still not liking these 'gods'.-

Ishnai found herself straightening her posturing and ensuring that her maw was closed shut as Delta, without answering any of the questions asked of her, simply continued on with her business. Clearly, this was a matter of utmost importance, Ishnai figured, considering it seemed to be a matter of life and death for everyone in this room. Lucian was clearly quite the foe to be dealing with, if he can affect other wyrms so drastically, yet very indirectly from the sounds of things. Still, Ishnai hoped that Delta would grant them and audience soon.

When she unceremoniously revealed what would need to be done to check for the curse, Ishnai found herself freezing in place, the fur on the back of her neck beginning to stand on end as her eyes widened to quite the degree as she looked upon Midas’ slashed arm. For a moment, she felt a kind of fear for Delta that was not fit for keeping faithful of her as she believed she should. Delta seemed Callous in this moment as the Wyrmlord of water went down the line, yet it was clear she was not enjoying this; she was as tense as the rest of those in the room, fittingly. Realizing this made Ishnai take a deep breath, close her eyes for a moment and mentally prepare herself, as best she could anyway, for the coming pain and the possibility of great danger from it.

However, when Delta stood just to the side of her, checking the wyrmchilde closest to her from where Delta had begun her painful examination of sorts, she realized that all so far had seemed to heal. Thus, she reminded herself of this as she obediently held up her arm, Delta then standing right in front of her. In all honesty, Ishnai felt her faith wavering. Delta seemed cold, and Ishnai could not comprehend her being a sister of Vis as she had seen so far. Yet, thinking of Vis, Ishnai has able to hold out her arm without protest, only flinching slightly and hissing quietly for a moment, eyes closing shut before she took a rather frantic look at her arm once she’d felt the sting of Delta’s blade down the length of the appendage. She let out a deeply relieved sigh, slightly raspy due to her feline accent.

Ishnai then silently watched Delta go through her test with the rest of the Wyrmchildren in line on her other side. Throughout the process, she of course found herself paying extra attention to Aellei and Kit, making sure those two were alright. She felt an attraction to each of them above that of the others at the moment, and her father had always told her to stick by those one felt a kinship with right away. According to tribal legend, all those that one feels kinship with early on are there for a reason, whether to be a loyal friend or even a lover, an ally later on, or to teach one a lesson about life. This was why Ishnai made certain to try and keep tabs of those two.

Once Delta had finished, her next words came as a pleasant surprise. Ishnai found herself thinking carefully about what she wanted to ask, her cat’s curiosity brimming, nearly overflowing in fact. Thankfully for her, some very good questions were quickly taken by the human female, Darrene.

“What I think is most pressing to ask, if I may,” Ishnai said, speaking up proudly with her ears perked up and her tail waving slowly behind her, posture straight, “is what decisive action might be called for at this moment? I am aware it is likely Nox’s decision but, there is clearly something that needs to be done, fast, before Lucian can weaken us all. If nothing else, perhaps our training regimen would have to be intensified somehow. It would seem we might be forced to make our move on shorter time than we were hoping for, no?”

She tried not to let any pain show in her face as the knife plunged into her arm. Her other fist clenched as they watched the wound disappear and soon after the pain. Everyone else went rough the same process. It was amazing, hurt like hell, but a knife wound just healed in beofre her eyes. They were, at the least, somewhat immortal. The grace time of the situation at hand dampened the excitement of the miracle like feat.

Delta spoke of answering questions...how ever she wished? What if she wished not to answer? Their questions could just be met with more questions. Well...for what it’s worth she at least had to try to know something that would help if their lives were in danger.
“So what are we supposed to do about all this? It sounds like this guy has the upper hand. What do we have that he doeektnto turn the tides?”

Cranea couldn't help but almost panic when she saw the ones ahead of her getting stabbed in the arm. Not so much scared for herself but that her and the others had to be subjugated to. Seriously? They could not do something more sane? how about just a little cut not plunging a knife into someone arm. wouldn't that do the same thing? Delta gripped her arm and Cranea grimaced. She inhaled sharply as the knife plunged into her arm , obviously it hurt as much as it should of but her arm healed almost as soon as the knife left her skin.

She sighed and pulled her arm away rubbing it. Then she started thinking of that Lucian character. And also another threat on there lives. What was this? These beings who have been alive longer than anything cant gain a few mortals trust and instead have to result to threatening to kill them and take there souls. For gods and a creator that just made them seem so weak in her eyes. Cranea was quiet and still rubbing her arm looking at where the scar should of been. She wondered about Lucian, what made them think that they where on the good side , maybe she should just join his side. Who was she kidding , Nox and Lucian are both probably insane. Cranea chucked to herself, she felt like she was going mad as well.

She looked up into the ceiling sighing before muttering. ..What are we getting ourselves into..

-RADFOR BORA'URUG-
half_orc___dungeons_and_dragons_by_wandererfromys-d5hsrbz.jpg

What the cat said to him both confused and astounded Radfor. He....broke her? Did he mean that Eshne had actually been wounded? In the back of his mind, a small part of Radfor smiled in smug glee. So then, they weren't gods after all; anything that could be wounded could be killed. Still, worry filled Radfor's heart at the news. Just like Delta, Eshne was related to him, albeit very distantly, and he had not even spoken to her even once....but still, she was family. Argh, family....he debated within himself yet again as to if he should even be calling them that. They were centuries apart, split by generations of blood...and yet Radfor still wished to think of them this way. He couldn't quite finger as to why he wanted to....

Delta interrupted his thoughts as she burst into the room and ordered them all to stand in a line. Reluctantly, Radfor followed her orders, not looking her in the eye. Somehow, Eshne being wounded had made then less....commanding. Delta explained to them all that Lucian, the enemy they were apparently being trained to fight, had somehow cursed someone to...no longer be immortal? Hmm....is that why Eshne was wounded....? It was a likely theory, if this Lucian was as strong as they made him out to be. Delta then began to do something that Radfor would have never imagined; she began to cut them, and watch as the wounds rehealed. Radfor internally grimaced; he was used to pain, but that didn't mean he liked it. When Delta approached him, he held his arm back for a moment before grunting and holding it out for her. A quick slice and small wince of pain later and Radfor's arm was healing. Delta finished up her test and then asked if there was any questions to be had. Radfor definitely had a few, but he imagined then more to be along the lines of insulting, and so he kept quiet for now, waiting to see if anyone else had something to ask.

To say midas was pleased with the blade being dug in his arm...well, anyome would tell you they didnt. Midas nearly tore the knife away from her, but managed to still him self. "Son of a bitch..." he snarled, shaking his hand to make sure it was still functioning right. He already lost two fingers before, he didnt feel like losing more.

Watching the wound seal made him wonder though...how many times could they heal? Would a wound eventually stick? He couldnt tell if that thought was terrifying or incredible...or both.

He watched as she continued with the test, surprised no one said anything. When she actually offered to answer some questions, He nearly jumped at the chance...but his questions hadnt been answered yet. Would they really answer? He was so tired of asking questions.

Rubbing the back of his neck, Midas listened to the group pop off questions, and nodded. All were good...all were smart. What next, why this was, how...he still wondered...once more couldn't hurt...no. not now...let eshne heal. Maybe then...

Kit watched as Delta went down the line to cut each of them. He noticed some of their apprehension. Some were able to bear it better than others, but all of them got through it nonetheless. It seemed they had a rather tough group, for none to openly refuse to be cut.

When it came to Ki'Tavi's turn, he slipped his left sleeve up to offer his arm. Other than his tail shifting faster than normal, there was no change in his demeanor when the blade cut into his flesh. Just like the others, he watched as his injury recovered almost instantly once the blade was gone. So they were nearly immortal then. At the very least, they didn't need to worry about bleeding out.

His ears perked up as Delta opened things up for questions. The others, it seemed, had the same questions he did. In short, there was too many things going on and not enough answers. So Eshne was mortal now? Well, he could imagine she wouldn't want to be anywhere near him for awhile, given the beating he had given her...

Then again, with her godhood stripped, Eshne had been..... Basically defenseless... She had said she deliberately didn't block in order to show that they couldn't control their strength, but what if the truth was that she simply couldn't fight without her godhood? His tail flicked behind him as he considered that possibility. So, just as easily as these abilities were given, they could be lost... That was something he'd need to keep in mind..

”You? No. The severing of the head or extreme damage to any vital organ would be fatal. Copper is also a weakness to your kind, it weakening you when in the vicinity and not allowing wounds to regenerate as quickly when wounded by it. And Lucian cursed Eshne to be mortal simply to make the odds more in his favor. He knows you are all here and without us, you won’t stand a chance in facing him. If following what Nox had envisioned, then you all will simply delay him with your lives. Nothing more, nothing less. So if he decides to make this effort trivial, we will simply put Katrina to the use her creation was intended for.”

Katrina
28 || Female || Wyrmspawn || Nox
Vis would sigh as Veth asked, Katrina appearing to be absorbed in the task of laying the aloe on Eshne but still paying enough attention to listen as he spoke. “He’s either warning or playing with us, I cannot tell which. Lucian is much more… playful than his brother, if I had to describe him. Nox’s idea of gathering you all here was a horrible idea… and unfortunately it wasn’t his first.” Kat had paused when he said this, glancing in the Wyrmlord’s direction as he cleared his throat. “I do apologize for whatever he has in store, truly, I am.”
6 Months Later
Within the six months that followed, Katrina was offered a choice from Vis. She could train alongside the wyrmchildren if she decided what it was that she wanted to learn. Clearly having no experience in combat and seeing her dragon form as a great tool that needn’t be abused, she was more than eager to practice using her magical abilities as it was one way she could truly be of some use.

The learning was a bit faster than most, seeing as her close relation to Nox was assisting with this. She managed to get ahold of the basics rather quickly, progressing onto a general spell casting and even alchemy when she had the chance, it all being more than fascinating to her. Something she had always been capable of but never allowed to use.

She supposed it was because her mere existence was to be a tool to use against Lucian. Whenever she saw her grandfather he didn’t waste a chance to remind her of this, even going out of his way to make this known publically to the group of Wyrmchildren. His hatred for her was nothing new, but that didn’t mean it didn’t linger. However, getting to know Darrene more throughout the six months they were together was changing that. Filling the void where love from her father should’ve came. It took her a bit longer to grow accustomed to the idea, but before long her and the human woman were clearly in a relationship, even if it were behind Nox’s back.

Now with winter having arrived, a blizzard blowing in from the north, it would be rather early in the evening, Kat sat around the table in the commons with the rest, an oddly silent meal occuring. It could’ve been that the Wyrmlords hadn’t been seen for the past few days, or just the weather was getting to them in ways that one would expect, regardless, it was still strange to say the least.

The silence only broken by the occasional sound of a utensil hitting a plate, or someone reaching for a glass, she could force a small smile onto her face, hoping to make conversation somehow. “How… is everyone tonight?”

Alright, timeskip complete! Now, this isn’t just going to be a summary of what happened in those 6 months, no. Remember what you did in the discord? I want a logical in-character rational for their decision to focus on what area. If you are writing and find that you assigned it based on what you wanted and not your character, let me know and you can change it.

Oh, and Merry Christmas everyone!

Six months were far from enough time to prepare oneself for a task such as the one Nox had summoned them for but Darrene would not waste a single thought on the odds not exactly being in their favor. For there was far more important things at hand than to dwell on the possibility of imminent failure or the prospect of glorious victory.

Having felt the flame inside her ache to be released every now and then, demanding to once again envelop her very being and become one with her, Darrene would set her draconic self free. Soaring through the skies as she would come to find her lacking the front legs the other Wyrmchildren had compensated with a greater wingspan, allowing the Dragon Darrene to fly even higher and to maneuver as swiftly as a swallow…and as deadly as an eagle as she would come to uncover the true power of the flame that beat in her heart in form of a fiery inferno she could unleash, as one would expect from a descendant of fire and war itself.

In the following days Darrene would have tried getting in touch with the primal reserves of magic inside of her, yet every attempt at drawing forth focused arcane energy would result in torrential flames surging forth from her body, rendering oh so many sets of clothing and furniture to nothing but gleaming embers. Heaps of ash not exactly being the intended outcome the human warrior would focus more on what she was already well versed in; the art of combat.
Countless hours would be spent on imbuing her own fighting style with what strength her new draconic heritage provided her with, pushing herself to the limit as she could feel Eshne’s gift to her allow her to focus more of the fire within her into her blows.

What little magical affinity she had would dwarf compared to the physical prowess her newfound powers would provide her with, drawing on the fire that burned deep inside her chest as the once basic human style of hers became more suited for the obstacles that were yet to come. Honing her skill with her poleaxe and sword, Darrene would pass on some of her basic knowledge to Katrina, whom she had formed a strong bond with, finding comfort and a new reason to fight for in the relationship the two of them had. A secret that Nox should never uncover.

Days turned into weeks and those would slowly become months, Darrene would find herself grow ever so closer with those whose fate she would come to share. Feeling a deep connection form between her and the others as the once hardened heart of hers would grow to accept love and friendship again.

And as the first winter’s snow would come to adorn the towers on which she had trained and where she had spent oh so many tender moments with Katrina, Darrene would find herself letting her fiery amber eyes wander over the white land spanning towards the horizon. Her breath sending hazy mist into the cold winter air as she’d pull her cloak closer around her toned form. Retrieving one of the crimson scales she had chipped off when scraping a cliff, the human warrior would examine it closer, its edges having been smoothed with her fiery breath and shaped into a stylized heart, yet she had not yet found the courage to give it to Kat.

Letting go of a sigh, Darrene turned towards the stone stairwell leading down from the fortress’ highest tower, armored boots heralding her descent with a metal clang as the woman would soon arrive at the commons. Entering the great hall with a growing hunger in her stomach, and a pleasant warmth in her chest as she’d come to sit next to Katrina, a bright smile adorning her face. A vivid red accenting her cheeks, be it from the biting cold or something else, Darrene would slip out of her scale-mail coat, rubbing the nape of her neck before starting to enjoy a warm meal and pleasant company. Leaning over to Katrina as she’d press her lips against the woman’s cheek.

“Well, I, for once, cannot complain.” Darrene would answer to Katrina’s attempt at striking up a conversation with the other Wyrmchildren as she’d let her gaze wander over the others.

“Though not everyone’s a descendant of fire and thus does not have to worry about catching a cold.” Darrene would joke as she’d playfully exhume a small cloud of dark smoke, little embers flickering inside her breath.

Veth Denrilith

21 | Elf | Zephyr
Over the course of six months, after Veth’s limited conversation of Vis as she assisted him with Eshne, she spent her time training. Her suspicion and dislike of Nox didn’t waver even during this time, and she even began to feel wary around Delta whose body language just bothered her. It was that intuition one felt perhaps, or simply a building prejudice towards the woman. Whatever the reason, Veth couldn’t shake off this feeling. She didn’t let this prevent her from learning what she could during this time.

Veth still viewed herself as what she had always been, and even now with the option to turn into a dragon, her dislike and distrust of Nox made her less than willing to be associated with him. She felt that transforming fully into a dragon was somehow accepting of Nox, and the idea burned within her that instead of fully transforming, she’d only use aspects of her dragonself to aid her.

Learning how to only change various aspects of herself to benefit from having the ability to change into a dragon was a difficult task and left her little time to spread regarding her other training; combat and magic. She had gotten along fine her whole life without magic and preferred to try and simply enhance what she already knew and combine it with dragon aspects. Thus Veth spent the least amount of time learning any magic. She could complete the most basic of spells, but that was it.

Veth spent most of her time focusing on being able to half-shift and the other time training in applying this transformation to aid in combat. As much as there were benefits to transforming into a full dragon, Veth did not wish to do so. There were only a few times she fully transformed and that was because she wanted to learn to fly. She experimented a bit with her dragon breath as well, though compared to the others, she regarded her own aspect fairly weak.

It was also during these six months that Veth had developed some friendships. Hazel was pretty much friendly with everyone and with Hazel came Midas. Midas and Veth hadn’t started off great, and while they weren’t friends per se, they were sociable. Veth and Cranae had become friendly, perhaps due to some similarities in their perceptions. Then there was her friendship with the feline Kit. She knew well enough he liked to save face, seemingly easy going for the most part. There were a few tells that gave him away though and he caught on to a few of hers as well. It was an odd friendship where one could easily mistake their banter as argumental at times, with some playful violence tossed into the mixture.

This wasn’t the only strange development regarding Veth’s relationships regarding others in the stronghold. While she hadn’t really seen Eshne since the night Nox had nearly cooked her in lava, and she preferred to not interact with Delta, that left Zephyr and Vis. Zephyr had screamed of hedonistic tendencies when they had their first encounter. It wasn’t anything new, there were a few individuals she had encountered since she left home. Any time Zephyr approached to flirt, she’d do one of two things; tease and flirt back as a joke, or just pester him about things he wouldn’t want to answer.

This back and forth game between them went on for a while. Whether fortunate or unfortunate, Veth overheard a conversation between Vis and Zephyr, mostly of Vix reprimanding Zephyr over his pursuit of Veth and how it was just like Zephyr’s previous lover. Veth… wasn’t sure what to think about that information. All she could do was pretend she hadn’t heard what was meant to be said in private, but it bothered her. She had been playing him with him in this little game without really any consideration towards Zephyr. She had viewed him as a seducer with no good intentions.

It was hard to stop viewing him as a little more… complicated than she had first considered him. All she had to go off of was his flirtations and a few moments of humility and an accidental eavesdrop. Now whenever he approached her, there was a nervousness that wasn’t there before. She should have just stopped playing the game, feeling as though she had been leading him on by participating.

Now it was winter and she was seated silently in the commons area, wordlessly eating a few small bites here and there. Veth was completely unsure on how to handle this situation or why she should even feel nervous around Zephyr. Shameful, yes. Guilt, yes. As much as she’d like the argue Zephyr was incapable of feeling anything but lust, it wasn’t true. Even as Kat spoke to try and break this spell of silence, this wasn’t a matter to discuss with others. However, it meant others would begin conversing and hopefully distract her temporarily.
