Whitney's hands felt so soft and warm on his jaw that it didn't even really matter to him that a few tears had broken free. They forged a trail to her hands, but he hastily wiped them away before they could reach her soft skin. Where was her little thing? Had he killed it?
Assuming the worst, Julian was reluctant to try again but as soon as he realised what had been done, he decided to try. She'd essentially stripped his power from him, so surely he could thank her. "Mer-CAAAW!" This time his voice was louder, echoing off of the buildings as a high, shrill scream, far more grotesque than his previous cry. A few students that had been attracted by the electric barrier clapped their hands over their now-bleeding ears, unable to make a sound. They were using their advanced hearing to eavesdrop, not expecting the sudden attack.


Now angry at himself, the boy tore himself away from his queen, stepping backwards towards the barrier. It shocked him slightly, but he didn't care. Deciding that she deserved an apology, he tried to choke one out but it only happened once more."DésQUAWWWK!" It frustrated him to no end, being fenced in with people he cared about but had hurt. And he had no way to apologise. Turning his back on her, he began to inspect the barrier, wondering if he could fly over it to escape. He took a few steps back so that he get a running launch, which would increase his chances of getting over in one piece. Julian refused to hurt his friends like that again.
