Ten Thousand Club
Frankly, Callie was stunned with the turn of events from the moment of her encounter with the new campers to the moment Capture the Flag teams were announced. Who knew the new girl would be another child of Poseidon? Who knew Zeus would one-up his brother by claiming his own daughter too? Who knew Aurelian would get so angry at Dreavyn Sullivan...scratch that: that one was totally believable. Either way there were two new campers sired by one of the Big Three and one of them was on her team. That was most important!
She noticed through the hustle and bustle that Percy from Athena cabin had already begun explaining his fully formed, colour coded game plan and she couldn't help but smile. Whilst he did that, she had her own impossible task to do; she would be able to catch up with the plan in no time. All she ever had to do was keep as hidden as possible and shoot the enemy...most of the time.
No, what she needed to do was head to the forge. This time she was sure she could persuade Laura to participate.
'Here goes nothing I guess...' she muttered to herself as she headed to her destination. Sure enough there was Laura, avoiding everyone. Callie approached with a certain caution mixed with congeniality. She was not in the mood to get chewed out by the girl. Nor did she want to come across as overly pushy, but what the daughter of Apollo wanted most was to win, and Laura Eldrige could help.
'Hi Laura. Cabin nine's on Blue Team. We'd love it if you join us for the game.' The blonde was sure her approach would be ignored so with resolve and a determined sparkle in her green eyes she added, 'And by "we'd love it" I mean, no excuses. I...I mean, we aim to win and you are an asset. So come on out. You have five minutes.'
Callie did not expect the apathetic daughter of Hephaestus to actually listen to her, but it was always worth a try. Besides she could hear the muffled sound of Clover McDowell's pre-recorded gambling ad, and she hoped the girl had bet on no one being able to persuade Laura to join in. Her hobby was totally distasteful.
