Active [Caelia Barony - Ryke] Be it Welcome or Unwelcome

Rev IX

Skull Man from the Shimazu Clan
What to expect out of character:
Weekly at its slowest would be appreciated, but twice a week would be the ideal pace. How long it will take to finish is still not set in my head, but I'll try to not overly prolong it. Depending on interaction between characters and NPCs, it could be just a social RP. It could potentially also become combat oriented, but the former takes precedence. It is mostly geared to contribute to the creation of a Barony Complex Asset (Through a favorability/safety Asset. And others depending on how the story progresses). Elvario might help me run this, so he can use NPCs or other plot devices to keep things going. Just in case.

What to expect in character:
A small festival is taking place in Stonewall, with unfortunate circumstances requiring the celebrations to halt and make an emergency visit to Yemaya.

When joining, please let me know the following things in your first post:
1 ) Any specific achievements/goals your character would have within the overall goal of the RP, such as trying to increase standing with a certain faction or obtaining a certain item/asset. So long as it doesn't diverge too much, I'll see what I can do to include it.
2 ) Any point boosters the character might have. (Attentive Student, Mentor, Devour, Narrative Booster, etc.).
3 ) Any [Wanted] or criminal titles your character might have. (Note, some city or guild-related settings will make entry for criminals considerably more difficult and would need discussion pre-joining.)
4 ) Any Buddy Skills, Masterwork Skills or Complex Assets your character might have.

Stonewall

From: Here

The walled town was in a joyous mood. The most recent harvest was a resounding success, with all the settlements of the Caelia Barony sharing the same fortune. The townsfolk decided to throw a celebration festival. Since it was mostly organized by the common folk, it is small in scale. Making it something akin to a party in the town square.

Delicious aromas of various foods permeated the air, with the noise of enthusiastic cheers and toasts heard from all over the place. The tavern had taken its business outside, offering ale and similar beverages, as well as serving the resident chef's unique specialties. Even to those who weren't loudly voicing their enthusiasm or dancing to the beat of live music played by a few locals, the festive mindset was contagious.

All of the people of the Barony who wished to attend this party had already made their way into the town square... With a couple of exceptions.

ttWC7yD.jpeg

"We are almost there, young lady." A well dressed man, driving a wagon led by two horses, told his only passenger. The man's name was Donald, he was a blacksmith from a village called Liemann on northern Ryke. That's about the extent of what he told his passenger about himself, not wanting to bother the young lady he met on his way to Stonewall with potentially unneeded small talk.

After the lady left to attend her own business, Donald noticed a local or two giving him strange looks, but he didn't think much of it. After ensuring his cargo was safe, he wandered into more crowded areas, where he started asking around for the whereabouts of a certain person. "Do you know someone here who goes by Ryan? about this tall, green eye, red hair, eyepatch..."

The last month had been a whirlwind of progress for Anastasia. Upon leaving Stonewall, she returned to the capital with a renewed focus and determination. Her printing business, once merely a budding concept, had fully taken root. She managed to secure contracts for producing pamphlets, instructional manuals, and even serialized fiction—a move that catered to the capital's literate elite and growing middle class. Profits had begun to roll in steadily, enough to reinvest and expand her operations.

At the same time, her venture into Azon was proving fruitful. She had partnered with traders to refine and market the product, creating a supply chain that stretched through the capital. While it required careful oversight, the income it generated was worth the effort, adding a steady flow of gold to her coffers.

Her focus wasn’t just on building wealth but also on establishing a network of operations that would interconnect seamlessly. With the cocoa business in Kirkwall nearing operational readiness, her next step became clear: transportation. If her businesses were to thrive across regions, they needed a reliable freight company to ensure goods moved swiftly and safely. Stonewall, with its central location in the Caelia Barony and strong connection to trade routes, was the perfect place to start.

Now, as the carriage rolled along the dirt path toward the walled town of Stonewall, Anastasia allowed herself a brief moment of satisfaction. The air was crisp, the skies clear, and the rhythmic clatter of the horses' hooves on the ground was almost soothing. She had hitched a ride with Donald, a blacksmith she had met along the way. While his conversation was sparse, Anastasia didn’t mind; it gave her time to reflect.

The distant sound of music and cheers floated toward them, carried by the wind. A warm, festive aroma—a mix of roasted meats, baked goods, and ale—grew stronger with every passing moment. Stonewall was alive with celebration, its joy palpable even before the gates came into view.

With Donald announcing their near arrival, Anastasia nodded politely, glancing out the window of the wagon. The sight of the walled town came into view, its gates wide open, a colorful bustle of people filling the square just beyond. Though she had work to do, the atmosphere was infectious.

She allowed a small smile to tug at her lips. The last time she was here, she hadn't much time to sightsee, but given her Grandfather was away on business of his own, she had a few extra days to kill before suspicions of her whereabouts would likely take root.

With that in mind, she disembarked the carriage, offered her thanks to the driver and made her way inside the walled town to explore what it had to offer.

Today was a day of mixed feelings straight from the get-go. This celebration in particular, was pulling her both ways. She genuinely enjoyed seeing her people have fun and was happy to try some of the foods offered to her. On the other hand, sometimes the attention got a bit much and she realised she might be too approachable at times. As a baroness, it surely wasn't expected to spent half an hour shaking hands or listening about how the kids were doing in school? At least, she did learn that they were finally teaching proper mathematics in her barony. Though perhaps an even better education would be another plan for the future... It was thoughts and deliberations like that, that kept her on edge.

She also made sure to spent her money carefully. Stimulating the economy in her barony was a worthwhile endeavour, but being seen as frivolous and wasteful would be horrible. In the end, she was mostly just buying gifts for others. “Any foods you like?” She'd ask Nightshade, wanting to buy her something to eat. “What about you, Teuihua?” Knowing he could 'taste' as well, she might as well extend the offer to her trusty guard. On the topic of trusty guard. “Has either of you seen Aria? We haven't had a proper talk in ages, but I thought she'd try make it here today. I can't wait to see her again.” The latter was true as it got, as it felt like it'd been years since she'd properly talked with the girl she'd considered as a sister to her.

Wait, someone else was missing. “Come to think of it, I haven't seen Retili yet either. He was going to be in Stonewall at least, if I recall, no?” She started second guessing herself. Was he planning to stick on Sootspire or to be here?

Nightshade

“Truthfully, I believe you should be the one to try the corn, milady. Simple as it is, it seems the latest harvest has gotten even juicier and tastier results. They have it roasted whole on the cob, it seems.” She'd state, tail swaying gently from left to right. Her main reason for tagging along was to get some time with the baroness, though she did wish to check on how the business was doing during this event. Sometimes, combing business and pleasure was the best way to keep going in life. For now, she'd not noticed Anastasia (though for Anastasia to notice her at some point was likely, as Nightshade and the baroness she was with were attracting a decent amount of attention). “Also, if memory serves, mister Loxinofican was indeed planning to visit these festivities.”

It had felt like ages since she stood before Stonewall. Having arrived the night before she hadn't thought to mention anything to Regula. She wanted to recapture the sight, the smell, the memories in her mind. Her quarters as impeccable as her aim with the sword. She'd go through her wardrobe, finding a dress the marshall would have one day attend a date with her beloved. A moment that never came to be.
A runaway tear would give away her broken heart, revealed only to the empty room before her. Once lit aflame with laughter and passion. Now, cold, lonely and empty save for the work left unfiled on her desk. The moon lit room was melancholy, but the marshall had slept the best she could, as anyone with a broken heart could really. Her last conversation with Amanda echoed in her head, perhaps a snippet said it all, "Perhaps in another life, this love story is writing us apart."

The following day, she wore the dress she prepared the previous evening. Deciding not to draw too much attention she diligently entered the kitchen and offered her services. She'd get double takes but no one thought to mention she was the marshall and what on earth was she doing serving the populace. Aria would take the plates as they came out of the kitchen and brought them outside, bowing briefly at any thanks or lack thereof and returning to any duties brought to her.

“If it isn’t too much trouble I would appreciate something sweet.” Teuihua replied warmly, staying nearby Regula on guard as a [Sentry] tended too.

“Hm..I cannot say I have seen Aria in quite some time myself, I do hope that she is alright, last I heard of her was when she was with you on your business with religious figures of the Ryke Church..while i was assisting Gunhild on the island for the first time.”

“It would certainly be nice to see her again.”
He’d add in with a nod.

“It’s been sometime since I’ve properly seen Retili as well, I do hope he can join us then.” He’d also add in, after hearing Nightshade mention he should be there.

“Corn hm..Zeouli appreciates and favors corn, it is one of the signature crops of Qeotl for harvests, that..and squash and beans if i recall..”

Teuihua continued to look around for anyone or anything of interest to make sure those he cared about were safe. Overall he was feeling pretty optimistic about the safety of those there, but there was still a caution which Teuihua tended to hold onto, by the nature of his very design, that it always paid to be vigilant regardless to some extent, utilizing his [360 Degree Vision] to do so.

Anastasia would be welcomed by a sight that definitely matched the sounds and aromas that reached her from afar. While the mood was festive and people were excited, the noble woman from Ryke wouldn't be pushed around or yelled at to catch her attention. But some Caelians with different kinds of successful produce did invite her to indulge in some dishes made from them. With a few eagle eyed merchants picking up on her noble demeanor and inviting her to examine their goods for a chance at earning top ryke.

From behind her, she would hear a voice, followed by another, and some more after that, greeting Regula. Which was also beckoned to try the goods in the stalls near her and her entourage. One such person, be it due to Nightshade's work, or mere excessive enthusiasm, offered each of them one cob of roasted corn "It's on me, Lady Caelia. Please enjoy, all of you!" then she happily went back to her stand.

Aria, in the meantime, caught up in a pessimistic spiral, almost crashed into an unfamiliar figure. But he caught her by the shoulders before it could happen. "Ope. Easy there." He offered a wide grin "Good day, young lady. I'm looking for a kid. About this tall, green eye, red hai..." The big man stopped himself, as he noticed something was wrong "What's the matter young lady? You look way less festive than the rest of the town" Donald asked, seeming undoubtedly concerned.

1000000655.png

Aria had fondly remembered her time at the tavern. It truly felt long ago in the Marshalls mind, yet the muscle memory; and the routine was recalled rather quickly.

Delicious plates continued to pour out of the kitchens, pulled pork, roasted chicken, steaks, all with their respective sides beautifully presented with garnishes. However, soon she would be told to take over beverages, which being a former barmaid was very easy.

Aria would mix the drinks, sometimes having to ask another waiter exactly what mixtures we're expected. It was common for a tavern to have their own versions of popular drinks, after all.

The stares would continue however, she'd spot people whispering and pointing at her, shrugging with confused faces as Aria went about her tasks. It was here that she was then asked to take the baronesses order. She had nearly forgotten about the fact that she was in Stonewall, perhaps it was the predictability of her task in a reality that was all too unpredictable. She'd not say a word and bowed lightly at her temporary taskmaster.

As she would then begin to approach Regulas location however, Aria wondered what she woils say, how would she explain she'd been gone so lomg without notice or word? Deep in her thoughts and her eyes fixed upon the group of familiar faces she'd accidentally tripped.

"Hm!"

Then a pair of large hands grasped her shoulders which kept her from falling. Then before her eyes a wide grin, to which Aria couldn't help but look away from once inquired. "I.. do I?" She stuttered as her grayish green orbs returned the gaze, searching her mind for words to explain her melancholy nature. "I just.. didn't sleep very well.. I.. I've been anxious about work today." She was clearly not telling the whole truth but it was the best she could do.

Yet, curiosity got the best of her once she regained her footing. "Thank you." She bowed her head briefly as her hands then entwined in front of her, then, asking politely. "Who are you?"

She couldn't help then to glance at Regulas table, then towards her taskmaster before returning her gaze to the man who saved her from an embarrassing blunder. Regulas table was close, and it seemed the man before her was quite the jolly one from demeanor alone.

Something sweet? Regula would nod at Teuihua's reply and look around. She'd spot and buy a type of candy she vaguely recalled having had as a kid, buying it and handing it over to Teuihua. Though not before trying one herself. “Wow, these bring back up some memories.” She'd chuckle, handing one to Nightshade as well. It was slightly sweet, mostly tasting like honey.

“Squash?” That sounded unfamiliar to her. A type of produce she'd not heard about in either her past or in this life. Or perhaps something she'd justk known by another name.

Before Regula could refuse the free corn, the woman had already left again. She'd chuckle. “It sort-off feels bad being among the wealthiest and having things for free.” She'd admit. “Nightshade, would you do me a favour and buy some from here to bring to the guards later?”

Nightshade
Pb4BXTo.jpg

“Of course, milady.” She'd state, tail still wagging after having been given the candy earlier. She'd been silently enjoying herself, though she was quick to make a note to do so. As she looked back up, however, she did notice a somewhat familiar face. Was that Anastasia? The fact that she was given some more room yet was still drawing attention, the silver hair and red with black clothing. Yep. She'd wave. “Milady, I believe the noblewoman whom I reported starting up a farm in Kirkwall is present as well, should you wish to meet her.”

Regula, looking in the direction, would be down to meet her. Yet she also recalled something Retili had tried hammering home. The higher ranked nobles shouldn't be the ones to approach first, right? Resisting the urge to just walk up, she'd instead, look around a bit more. Perhaps her fellow noble would introduce herself first instead?

That said, her staring around had her gaze meet a familiar visage. “Wait... Aria?” She asked, confused. Seeing Aria waiting tables with someone that made her think of an older version of Ryan was not something she expected. “W... what are you doing?” She asked, utterly confused. Rather than coming to greet her, be it as sister or as Marshall, or reporting or just... letting her know she was back, Aria was... waiting tables? She wasn't sure whether to be sad, disappointed, angry or annoyed. For now she was just confused.

The town square was alive with color and movement, filled with stalls offering delicacies crafted from the Barony's successful harvest. The townsfolk were friendly, their enthusiasm evident but not overwhelming. Instead of being jostled or swarmed, she was met with polite invitations. She responded with gracious smiles, sampling a few offerings here and there. The flavors were robust, the local produce shining in each dish. It was clear the harvest had been exceptional, and the pride of the townsfolk was well-placed. As she continued through the square, a group of merchants, keen-eyed and opportunistic, approached her. They clearly recognized the telltale signs of wealth and status.

Anastasia entertained their offers with polite interest but kept her focus on observing the celebration. This was a chance to learn about the people, their livelihoods, and their personalities—valuable information for anyone hoping to establish a business in Stonewall.

From behind her, the sound of voices caught her attention. More greetings followed, and Anastasia turned her head slightly, curious. It seemed someone familiar—or at least prominent—was arriving as well. It wasn’t unusual for nobles or influential figures to make appearances at such events, especially when spirits were high. However, spotting the woman's wing's and hearing her name aloud quickly gave the woman's identity away, nightshade or not.

Indeed the woman being approached so earnestly by the people was none other than the very Baroness who ruled this land. Baroness Caelia, the daughter of a whore who had quickly risen to prominence after the cult fiasco. Rumours surrounding the woman were all the rage in the capital but they were just that, rumours. Looking to Nightshade, Anastasia approached the woman with a smile and offered her hand, stopping just short of the large golem clearly meant to guard the two women "Nightshade, how nice to see you. Are you enjoying the festivities?"

"Thank you my lady." Teuihua responded with a warm tone upon receiving the candy. He took it in his extended hand and 'ate' it, the candy burning up and sort of just turning into a very fine bit of ash.

"I can see why you liked this." Teuihua found it pleasant.

Teuihua likely could see the corn distributor coming with his [360 Degree Vision] feature, but he did pay attention to them closely just the same.

If Teuihua had received some free corn he'd 'eat' that too, burning it up. "Thank you kindly." He'd enjoy the sweet natural taste. "Yes..I understand why Zeouli says that Qeotl would enjoy such an offering."

"That is quite considerate of you to think that way, but there is a joy which you are providing to those who wish to give you gifts just the same, I think of it as thanks for you hard work, ensuring that the barony is in good working order, prosperous, and safe which you put a great deal of effort into."

"I think you solution is the best of both worlds, you give the gift of letting them give, and give them coin for their work so that you may partake too in gift giving to your guards."

Teuihua gave a friendly wave to Anastasia upon hearing Nightshade give context, using his more dexterous arm.

He'd give Anastasia an appraising gaze after she approached even if it wouldn't be obvious given his face's considerable lack of obvious mobility, instead standing by and listening, keeping guard of Regula, but what appeared to be off was how Regula was looking over at..ah yes, Teuihua saw her too that was Aria wasn't it? Even Teuihua as a construct (whose emotional intelligence was quite human level to be fair) could understand that this would bring out complex emotions, given the circumstances, however he'd give a wave Aria's way too even so.

Hopefully everything would work out, as for now he continued to be on standby.

Donald's smile diminished upon clearly noticing something was indeed wrong with the woman who almost crashed into him. "You are, yes." His tone growing mild and gentle, as Don's fatherly instinct kicked in. "That's okay, you don't need to give details. I hope your struggles are fleeting, or that you have someone to share your struggles with, at least. Talking works wonders for the heart." It felt incomplete, but this was better dealt by someone closer to her.

"I'm Donald Kylieth. Don, to my friends. My son Ryan lives here, but it looks like he's still quite the shut-in, people do recognize him, but don't know much about him, let alone where he is at the moment..." He stated, with the shine coming back to his face.

Donald picked up on Aria's eyes drifting to a particular spot. Following it, he saw a group, noticeably respected by those around them. It wasn't a long shot to think one of these was the boss around these parts.

"You should go and say hi." Don paused before slowly elaborating. "I don't know what's the extent of your problem, but they seem to be fond of you. Maybe talking with them will put you at ease..."

As introductions, greetings, and reunions occurred, the ambience of the celebration was still brimming with energy. Lending itself for some friendly chatter. That wouldn't last long, however. The erratic galloping of a speeding horse was drowned by celebration, until it was visible to the town square's gathering. "Baroness Caelia, help! Yemaya is taken over by bandits!" Ones able to hear, mimicked the concern shown by the pale rider of the frantic horse. Who looked abnormally disheveled for a simple full speed galloping from Yemaya, indicating that his shaky voice wasn't spouting lies.

“I am, thank you. Are they to your liking as well?” She'd ask, a slight wag of the tail backing up said sentiment. She didn't take Anastasia's hand though, as instead she took a slight step back. “Might I introduce you? Baroness Caelia, this is lady Von Arbin, lady Von Arbin, this is baroness Caelia.”

“It's a pleasure to meet you.” Regula would state, accepting Anastasia's hand instead of Nightshade in order to shake it. She was still a tad distracted by having seen Aria in such a peculiar situation, but she was quick to push it aside. “I'm hoping your return visit indicates you've taken a liking to our barony?” She'd ask, perhaps already giving some things about herself by 'our' in that sentence bloody communist as she felt like its current welfare was the effort of a great many coming together.

On the topic of that, she'd introduce Teuihua as well. “This is my friend and guard, Teuihua.” She'd state, wanting to make sure he'd not be treated as a lesser being due to being a Construct by calling him a friend first and foremost. Teuihua's reasoning sounded a tad bit like overthinking, but might not be wrong. Besides, she might be the pot calling the kettle black in that scenario. “Then I shall be honoured that I found myself in a position where people gifting me something is enough to bring them joy.” She'd smile. Truthfully, especially in this situation, she was glad it was clearly a spur-of-the-moment thing. Otherwise she might have to start getting worried about being poisoned. Not that her healing wouldn't be able to fix most of that, if not all.

Right. Overthinking. She should stop that. “Perhaps, if the corn remains this high of a quality, we can ask chef Todo if he can make more dishes with it. I don't know why, but perhaps with some good quality melted butter on top...” She'd imagine that would somehow go really well with it. Creamy butter. Fresh, yet creamy corn.

Before Aria had a chance to come over and talk, someone called out. “Please, calm yourself.” She'd command (Baroness Word) as she wasn't happy about someone barging in and disturbing the festivities. The last thing they needed was for the festivities to be ruined by sudden panic. Assuming the man calmed down, she'd give Teuihua the knowing look of 'make sure there's no prying ears' around.

She'd call over one of her guards (Minions – The Regulators). “Give the messenger some water to drink and go put his horse in the stables where you can give it some feed and water as well. Instruct the first other guard come across to go find and gather up the rest of my personal guards at the training grounds. We might need to be ready head for Yemaya with haste.” She'd command the guard, who'd presumably follow suit on the orders.

Seeing how Anastasia already heard, removing her or backing away would probably make things worse. So being where they were, she'd she'd ask the messenger. “Yemaya's home to many adventurers exploring the dungeons and the village has a competent mayor. Even with the relatively low amount of people still living there and the equally limited guard count, I cannot see it taken over by bandits so easily and in such a short time. Someone would have to be bluffing or had an insider. Either way, I would like to know the details. And keep your voice down.”

Looking at the rest, she wondered. “How good are you all with being in total darkness for a while? Depending on the urgency of this nature, I might ask everyone to gather together and use my magic and Boots of Swiftness to get you all there in the quickest way I can imagine.” She was indeed debating to use her Pocket Dimension to gather them up and then use the Fast B on her boots to reach Yemaya faster than even the fastest horse ever could.

She recalled Anastasia still being around. “Right, my apologies for getting you caught up in this mess and having to be off immediately after our meeting. Assuming you don't want to get into the barony's troubles and that you'd wish to enjoy the festivities instead, please continue and disregard what just happened. We'll have this taken care of in no time.” She'd reply with a confident, charming (Baroness' Charm), smile.

Arias vision grew visibly melancholy as Donald spoke, part of her simply felt guilty about being gone from a community that looked after one another. The marshall, in her white dress nodded.
When Donald introduced himself, Aria remembered the last name. Yes, it was that of Ryan as well. "Your.. son?" Aria repeated with silent surprise. "I didn't know he had relatives, admittedly, I've been gone for some time."

It was Donald's following advice that assured the heartbroken marshall. He was right, talking, and expressing oneself would be the best way. Yet, Aria, being kuudere was rather unable or partly incapable of nauch expression. Would she attempt it? Perhaps if Regula didn't hate her for not reporting sooner.

"Y-yes.. I.. I'll try that." Aria replied looking towards Regula and the other familiar faces.

Yet it seemed they had caught her already, so went her element of surprise. She'd bow her head to Donald. "I will give word of your presence to Ryan should I see him. And.." her head risen. "..thank you for your kind words."

It was here that a messenger would arrive, urgently delivering a message that shocked the crowd before them. Aria sighed. She'd grown too distracted by her internal turmoil that she'd failed to be ready. She'd quickly return to her chambers,1000000635.jpg

changed to a more appropriate attire, and returned to Regulas table just in time.

The marshall would salute, "M'lady Regula. Please excuse my detour, I will explain under not so pressing circumstances. I await your orders." A stern, dutiful expression in her face.

Anastasia Von Arbin

Anastasia's sharp eyes followed the erratic rider as he galloped into the town square, his disheveled state and panicked cries cutting through the joyous mood like a blade. A flicker of irritation crossed her composed face.

“Fool,” she muttered under her breath, her tone clipped and disdainful. “Announcing chaos in the middle of a crowd? Do they teach no decorum in these parts? Panic spreads faster than wildfire once sparked.”

Her assessment was clinical and cutting. The news was grave, yes, but this was no way to deliver it. Yemaya, with its cursed history and dark reputation, was a subject best handled discreetly. Even Anastasia, hailing from the capital, had heard the rumors—the cursed former capital of the barony, steeped in shadow and whispers. If any place in the barony could be bandit-infested, it was Yemaya. But such dire tidings deserved a far more measured approach.

Despite her internal critique, her expression remained poised, betraying none of her harsher thoughts as Regula addressed her. The baroness’s calm in the face of such disruption impressed Anastasia, especially as she maintained her composure and included a polite apology.

Anastasia inclined her head gracefully. “Your Excellency, there is no need for apologies. I am but a guest in your domain and understand that matters of state demand your attention, particularly in moments of urgency.” Her tone was measured and unflappable, exuding confidence. “Rest assured, I shall manage well enough on my own. I'm but a civilian with no combat experience, not only would volunteering to join you be uncouth but also a hindrance.”

With that, she gave a polite curtsy, turning to Nightshade once more. "Well then, I assume that leaves us to conduct business with one another yet again?"

He gave her a nod at the confirmation, also pleased to hear that she seemed agreeable to his point that giving gifts allowed people to feel good too at times. Kind and humble she was at many times.

"I imagine Zeouli would be pleased at that prospect, enjoying the bounty of harvest as a collective Is another way she'd approve of in showing appreciation for what Qeotl has provided, whether or not it's dedicated to her specifically.. and I imagine that would taste quite nice."

Teuihua pretty immediately upon hearing Regula go into a more commanding voice with the panicked new comer was immediately on high alert, standing close to her, up right and tall using his [360 Degree Vision] to look at their surroundings to ensure nobody threatening was going to show up, or that there wasn't anyone suspicious around who might have been listening in or anything else.

Upon hearing Aria, it seemed that they would be joining forces against a possible threat yet again, regardless of the awkwardness of what had transpired she was as ready to serve again as he was from the sounds of things, feeling like she was quite reliable. It sounded like there wasn't really a reason of the new face to come try to suppress whatever was going on if she wasn't skilled at combat, should the words of the messenger be truthful, Teuihua would be wary of any report until he saw it himself with the potential for foul play, what if someone was trying to lead Regula into a trap?

"Always ready my lady." Teuihua responded. He liked to think he was at least as he did his best to be. Darkness wasn't going to bother him, it was far from the first time he had traveled with her In more extravagant ways.

Donald's face showed a reassuring expression "Worry not. He's not much of a talker, so I'm not surprised, bahaha". His friendly smile remained as they continued chatting "Thank you for listening, young lady" He concluded. Nodding with a gentle smile to the favor Aria mentioned. Even if he was in no rush, it was appreciated.

As for the panicked Yemayan, Regula's words worked like a charm. The man still looked scared, but not beyond panicked. Her words also soothed the party-goers nearby, preventing the panic to completely take over. The citizens who picked up on it simply stood attentive to their leader's words. One of Regula's guards made herself present, heeding the commands given and acting on them immediately "Understood, Milady."

The rider waited for a chance to explain the situation more discreetly. "I'm sorry, baroness" he offered at the moment.

Following Regula's instructions, the ones tasked to aid settle this conundrum gathered on the training grounds, waiting on further instructions. The rider would take a moment to explain the situation to Regula. "Baroness. There were several skilled warriors that invaded during the night. Some tried to confront them, but they took hostages..." the Yemayan paused to not give into panic once again. "I managed to escape. But most others were locked in dungeons or gathered to, well, have more... Accessible meat shields."

Upon Aria's approach, she nodded. Aria awaited orders? There was one order that had to be given first. “Welcome back, do let me know about your arrival first thing, next time.” She'd state, as she went in for a hug. It couldn't be long now, as there were distressing businesses to deal with, but even so, it had to be done. Otherwise Regula felt like she'd just loose herself if she couldn't even give her sister a short greeting like this.

Onto more serious business, she'd step back and explain her plan. “I'll gather up the Regulators, then take them, along with you and Teuihua, into my Pocket Dimension. I'll use the enchantments on my boots, in combination with my Flight, to get us to Yemaya in record time. We'll discuss things further from there, depending on the situation on the ground.”

She'd nod to Anastasia. “Thank you for understanding. Should you remain in the barony once this is sorted, I would be delighted to have you visit the keep.” She'd extend a short invitation, then turned to Nightshade. “I'll be leaving things to you once more, it seems.”

Nightshade

“Of course madam.” She'd state. Nightshade would turn to Anastasia, tactically nodding for them to head elsewhere so that the baroness could continue debating the next steps regarding the trouble that'd arisen in private. She's settle on a spot near the Keg, where Anastasia would be able to take a seat, should she desire to do so. “Would you be here to merely enjoy the festivities, or are you, as I feel you might be, looking for your next business opportunity?”

Meanwhile, Regula took in the words from the messenger and frowned. “That is concerning.” She'd grit her teeth. Hostages? People locked in the dungeons? Neither was a good thing. “We'll have to learn the rest when arriving. Go inform guard captain Hayward and speak of this with no one else. Go rest afterwards. You've earned it.” She'd order, before turning to Teuihua and Aria.

“The Regulators should've gathered at the training grounds. Lets head their now.” She'd state, after which she'd do so. Assuming they were all there, or at least enough of them to bring along, she'd use [Take it All] to gather up them as well as Aria and Teuihua. Then she'd use her boot's [Power of Hermes] to rush towards Yemaya, with a combination of Fast, Speed Burst (x5), Jumping across walls and other hindrances along with her own [Flight] as well as crossing any small lakes or rivers with Water Speed and some special movements to make the terrain her own personal race track and getting in Yemaya at some utterly unmatched speeds.

Anastasia followed Nightshade’s lead, her stride measured, exuding calm control. Once by the Keg, she took a moment to adjust her gloves and survey the square, eyes scanning the vibrant festivities. She remained standing, giving the impression she was both at ease and ready to act should the situation call for it.

Nightshade’s question prompted a knowing smile to play on her lips. “Your intuition serves you well. I didn’t come all this way to simply bask in the revelry, though it’s quite charming,” Anastasia began, her tone warm but purposeful. “In truth, my visit has a dual purpose. I’m here to ensure my cocoa business is progressing as expected, but I also see an opportunity for growth.”

She turned slightly, her gaze momentarily shifting to the bustling activity of the town square before returning to Nightshade. “With my ventures in the capital now generating steady income—two businesses, to be precise—I find myself in a position to secure the resources needed to take my next steps. One of those steps involves ensuring the reliable transportation of goods. A freight company would not only bolster my own efforts but could also serve the broader community here in Stonewall.”

Anastasia’s voice dipped slightly, taking on a calculated weight as she pressed her point. “I’m not looking to lease or merely negotiate terms. I’m prepared to outright purchase the rights and infrastructure necessary to establish or acquire a freight company, should the opportunity present itself. I’d prefer something already operational, but I’m not opposed to building from the ground up if it comes to that.”

She paused, tilting her head slightly, as if considering. “Stonewall is thriving—its people, its connections, its untapped potential. This festival alone speaks volumes about the spirit of the town. With that in mind, I’d rather invest in what already exists here and ensure it prospers alongside my own interests.”

Anastasia gestured lightly toward the festivities. “But of course, I’m not entirely without sentiment. A part of me enjoys seeing firsthand what I’d be investing in, not to mention who. There’s a lot to appreciate here, even for someone who spends more time balancing ledgers than attending town celebrations.”

Anastasia’s poised demeanor remained intact as she spoke about her intentions regarding the freight company and the festivities, her voice steady and professional. However, as she reached the end of her statement, there was a subtle shift—her posture grew just slightly more rigid, and the air around her seemed to take on a peculiar tension.

Her gaze, which had been warm and calculating, now sharpened, her crimson eyes gleaming faintly like the glint of a predator's fangs in the moonlight. The corners of her lips curled into an enigmatic smile, not entirely unfriendly, but unmistakably unnerving.

“Of course, securing logistics is only part of the reason I’ve returned,” she said, her voice dipping to a smooth, almost serpentine tone. Her eyes locked onto Nightshade’s, a flicker of that crimson glow catching in the evening light. “There is... another matter I wish to discuss.”

She allowed the silence to linger for a moment, as if savoring the pause, much like a snake might savor the stillness before the strike. Her hands clasped gently before her, the gesture demure but laced with quiet control.

Anastasia’s tone remained pleasant, yet beneath it lurked an undercurrent of something far more potent. The smile never quite left her lips, but it was no longer a simple expression of polite interest—it was the smile of someone who had seen far more than she let on, and perhaps knew far more than she was willing to share just yet.

Teuihua was quick and diligent to listen to the situation, thankfully he had come prepared this time around with his widersian experiment styled heavy armor and his sizable steampunk like shield which he could use if it came down to it. He had also regained some abilities from prior which might get displayed today depending on the type of enemy which made itself known to them, presuming the informant had been truthful and this wasn't some sort of set up. He wished his appraisal function would come back online so to speak as that would make things easier..

He did however hear the situation, hostages getting taken into dungeons wasn't the most ideal for Teuihua only in that he was [Large] and having been in the dungeons of Yemaya before some of them could get narrow, hopefully there were some spaces which were more accessible.

He listened to the planning and when he was directly addressed he'd nod.

"Understood my lady."

"I'll do my utmost to assist in restoring order post haste." Teuihua stated as he followed along, ready by the point Regula was using [Take it all] to be taken

During all of this time Teuihua continued to be vigilant with his [360 Degree Vision]

throughout the speaking, organizing and moving process.

Aria had looked to Regula, dutifully at the mention of upcoming orders yet, what happened was unexpected. Perhaps it was the void she felt within that was simply difficult to even understand.
At the feel of her sisters touch Aria gasped and she'd hold her breath unable to react. Her eyes wide before moisture forming in them. Closing her eyes, she'd soon give in and hold Regula in return albeit briefly so as not to interrupt the mission before them.

Aria would nod at Regulas suggestion moving forward. "Yes, M'lady."

When learning about the complexity of the situation that lay ahead she grew stern. She felt her synthetic metallic feet underneath her boots. She knew they could go faster than mortal ones, perhaps speed was what would be necessary. Perhaps, precision or agility? Perhaps all of the above. It wasn't unlike Aria to second guess herself and quite frankly she didn't know why. Did Amanda cast some sort of crippling spell upon her?

"A sound plan. Let's move out." Said the Marshall, and following up with the mentioned actions.

Regula's troops quickly obeyed her command and gathered up, battle gear at the ready. The following travel went without a hitch for the most part. It was highly likely the Baroness just set a record in the fastest travel between Stonewall and Yemaya, her grace and agility to ignore potential obstacles as if there were none.

A disheveled man with an iron mask was peering through a monocular, observing the road to Stonewall silently. He put it down after a while observing. "Can't see shit from here... Oi, Slinger! Is that broad on her way already? How many are wit'er?" A construct, peering down the same path as the one standing on the entrance to the ruins, but from the remains of a tower, responded. "Affirmative. She is approaching. Fast. However. She is coming alone." Another figure, leaning against what was left of a wall nearby, chimed in. "Bradley, do you really want us to take on that Baroness as we are? I'm sure those rumors we heard can't be all lies" Bradley turned to face the gladiator "Bah, don' be such a coward! Aren't ya supposed to be a fighter by profession?" A grim chuckle came from Bradley "But fine, I'll take'er on myself. Slinger! Send 'er a warning. Bitch must be up to somethin'"

The construct complied. Raising one of her guns, she fired a projectile to the sky. After a small flash of light, energy projectiles rained between Bradley and Regula. While waiting for the way in to clear, Bradley told the rest of his crew "A'ight! Boys, get ready!"

As the soldiers took their positions, the energy rain stopped. "Why 'ello! You must be Regula, no?" Bradley laughed to himself, as he readied what seemed like a broken sword. Once he held it proper, it buzzed to life, emitting a long, pale red blade. Which when Bradley rested on his shoulder, hissed. "How can we help ya?"

Along with the construct aiming her two guns at her, and the muscular man calmly stretching, Regula would also be able to see some soldiers behind Bradley, guarding the visible paths to the ruins and holding some strategic points in case someone managed to get past the trio closest to Regula.

Teuihua was quickly pocketed up. Aria was soon to follow. Having gathered up her troops and headed to Yemaya, she was surprised. The enemy spotted her before she did them? She hadn't expected them to be ready and laying in wait this early. Yet the warning shot told her otherwise. A flash of light shot up into the sky. Ranged weapons. A construct. She could counter that.

The sword held by the armoured man, however, was something unfamiliar to her. She wondered if it'd be a match to the Faeblade or not. Either way, it was an unknown, so it was a risk. She thought quickly. Right now, her tactical advantage was mostly gone. If she didn't let her allies out they'd not be able to post due to not doing much this round right now, her magic might be interrupted when trying to do it later. She figured she'd play her card early as a way to back up her next words. After all, the display of sudden forced flooding in should surely put a lot more impact behind the offer she was about to give them.

Letting out her guards, along with Aria and Teuihua form the [Pocket Dimension] she's speak up. “That is lady Caelia to you.” She'd correct the one who'd addressed her. “You'll find I'm rather displeased by your actions, but I am known to be [Well-Meaning], [Gregarious], [Earnest], a [Peacekeeper] and [Amiable], so know that I am serious when I say that I will give you a chance to explain yourselves and to get out of this.” She'd speak truthfully, though she'd speak equally truthfully in her next sentence. “Yet I am also speaking truthfully when I say that I cannot guarantee your lives will remain if you do not choose to do so right now. This will be your one and only opportunity to ensure your lives remain.” As she spoke to them, she'd use the full weight of her [Baroness' Word B]. Most, especially Humans, should bend under the weight of those words.

Keeping her voice down a bit, she'd instruct her forces. “Spread out and start to flank them from the sides. If combat ensues, try to cut them off from the tunnels behind them, but don't get too close and don't attack so long as I don't give the command and they don't attack first.” She'd command her troops. “Teuihua, please go with the group going right. Aria, please go with the one going left. If battle breaks out, I'll stick to the skies and deal with the ranged opponent first.” The most important for them right now was to move out so they wouldn't be sitting ducks in a cluster. It's why they'd spread out in two groups, one spreading out to the right, another to the left, creating distance between one another whilst going further to the sides so they could start to flank the enemy on command.

Truthfully, the fox woman was a tad disappointed to see how her short break with the baroness had turned into another 'job' so abruptly, but she figured that if she had to work, there were far worse customers. “I'm glad to hear that.” Charming might be a tad degenerating of a term, but in truth, it wasn't exactly a big or impressive festival, so the word was suitable enough.

“You own two business in the capital as well?” That was slightly surprising. It seemed Anastasia's endeavours were widespread and ambitious indeed, as her earlier words now seemed to be backed up a bit more. “A freight company?” That rang a bell. “How peculiar. A man by the name Cleo Rom has worked on renovating a warehouse in Yemaya for the same purpose, which was not that long ago.” She'd click her tongue. “Though there are many more options available in Yemaya and I don't doubt that the baroness will get the current... hassle... sorted in no-time. After which people will think twice before making the same mistake,” She'd use that word 'hassle' carefully, to avoid making it sound too big a deal.

Even so, trying to 'sell' an option in a city that was currently under the control of some bandits was far from ideal. That brought them to the next option; Stonewall itself. “As you can see, the town has little room left within its walls. We have lots of area to expand on outside of it, of course, though it might cost more time, money and effort, due to needing to sent out guards or building extra infrastructure to safeguard it.”

The next bit brought a smile to Nightshade's face and a wag to her tail. “I am sure those are the type of investors that the baroness, and me along with her, are more than pleased to welcome back in support of mutually beneficial endeavours.” The ones that cared to come enjoy what they'd build up were the ones least likely to just abandon or abuse it, after all. Those were they ones they could build a future with.

The last sentence, however, turned the wag into a droop and the smile into confusion. She'd turn more guarded, fearing she might not like the next bit. Was it blackmail? A threat? Something borderline illegal? The way it'd been brought up suggested something along those lines. “Do speak.” She'd state, wanting to get the reveal, so that she'd at least know what she was dealing with here.

Teuihua when being let out the pocket, assessed the situation quickly, really wishing that his appraisal could pop off with greater range like he remembered but that part still didn't seem to be entirely working.

Teuihua stood tall as he could leveraging some of that [Sentry]ness. He'd keep using his [360 degree vision] feature while awaiting for further instruction, while it would be nice if violence could be avoided, with Regula once again showing much more mercy than she was truly required too in this instance, only reaffirming her benevolence as far as Teuihua was concerned, by the time that she got to instructing him, as much as he wanted to stay by her side he knew that the best option was to do as she said, as it was true that Regula was quite strong and capable In her own right, Teuihua had seen her fight on multiple occasions now and bring great fire powers, but for all they knew these new enemies were extremely powerful.

He'd nod. "Understood." Teuihua would then quickly go off toward the group going toward the right after hearing what the plan was, getting ready to engage with enemies if need be, logically it'd make sense for him to be toward the front of the group as a sort of big block like he usually was with the meleers so that was in fact where he positioned himself, so that he could try to tank some things if necessary. He hoped that this could be resolved without there being a need for bloodshed, but in the worst case scenario even, Teuihua knew that the Barony did have ways to bring people back even from the worst circumstances as long as there was at least some body left to work with in a tangible form...either way he just really hoped it wouldn't get to that point.

Anastasia’s demeanor shifted almost instantly at the mention of Cleo Rom. The warm, calculating charm she exuded moments prior cooled into something far more severe. Her crimson eyes locked onto Nightshade’s, unblinking and unwavering, with the sharp intensity of a snake zeroing in on its prey. The casual ease with which she carried herself moments earlier was gone, replaced by an aura of quiet authority and an unyielding resolve.

“Cleo Rom, you say?” Her tone was measured, yet carried an unmistakable edge of ice. She straightened slightly, hands clasping together in a gesture that was both composed and deliberate. “I am familiar with the man by reputation. A name whispered in circles that do not inspire confidence. Though it seems by mentioning this man you have beaten me to the punch.”

Her gaze bore into the fox woman’s own, and her voice took on a sharper tone. “Rumors from the capital suggest that Cleo Rom’s dealings with this barony—specifically with Count Light—are far from aboveboard. A nearly exclusive trading agreement? If those rumours hold even a grain of truth, then it seems this Cleo Rom has secured a stranglehold on commerce in this region at the expense of anyone else daring to enter the market.”

Anastasia paused for a moment, allowing the weight of her words to settle. Her voice dropped lower, with a calm yet unwavering intensity. “Let me make myself perfectly clear: I will not allow the goods I produce, transport, or sell to be subject to any arrangement entered into without my consent. Whatever deals Cleo Rom has struck with the former baron or indeed the current are not my concern, nor are they binding upon me.”

She took a deliberate step forward, her presence commanding despite her measured demeanor. “Under no circumstances will I permit my ventures to be jeopardized by some ridiculous and likely dubious trade agreement that undermines the laws of fair commerce and competition. If Cleo Rom believes he can enforce such terms, he will find himself in for a rude awakening.”

Her lips curled into a faint smile, though the expression held no warmth. “I trust you understand my position, Miss Nightshade. Should this Cleo Rom wish to test his influence, he is welcome to do so. But I assure you, the outcome will not be in his favor. That sentiment extends twofold to anyone who may wish to stand behind him in support.”

Her eyes narrowed slightly, her crimson gaze still locked firmly onto Nightshade’s. “Now, I do hope you’ll clarify the extent of Cleo Rom’s dealings here. I would hate to think that this barony’s promising future is being shackled by agreements that benefit only a select few at the expense of its prosperity.”

Bradley laughed mockingly once Regula revealed her troops. "Of course! You wouldn't dare come alone." His words held a confusing and apparently unwarranted amount of vitriol. Leos, and a few other rogues behind him looked confused. The former gladiator was less than eager to challenge Regula and her forces. Let alone taunt them, as Bradley was so arrogantly doing.

When Regula spoke up again, most of the faces hearing her went from attempting to hide their relief, to paralyzed in fear. Leos narrowed his eyes, and scanned the area. "That's enough, Bradley! Let's ta-" "SHUT... YER TRAP!" Bradley vociferated. "Weak. Puny. Worthless. All'a ya." his voice had gone from a furious roar, to a shaky whisper. Leos readied his claws, but a ray of energy landed between him and Bradley. "Atta girl." Slinger kept one of her barrels on Leos and the other on Regula.

"Since all of you cowards can't fight to save yer skins, I'll do it myself." Bradley took a couple steps towards Regula and brandished his red energy blade. "You'll fight me Regula. If ya refuse, or someone from yer side moves a lil' too close, Slinger is blowin' up all dem dear citizens o' yers sky high" Another unhinged laugh followed "DID I MADE MESELF CLEAR!?"

The order spread from the front soldiers backwards, Leos shook his head at a few soldiers trying to make sense of what just happened "That damn crystal has finally made Bradley completely lose his mind" The gladiator turned to Regula and company, gesturing an "I'm sorry" with his mouth, not daring to do much else to prompt the ever loyal construct to act on the command given to her by her master.

All eyes were on the baroness now.
