Brother & Sister -Ken x Rinne-

Damaged
December 10th, it was nearing the holiday season and the world celebrated all over. The town had been lit up in Christmas fashion, and the glow from the lights made the town appear more relaxing than normal. The glare from the the window drew the attention of Nishio to the outside, he gazed out at the softly falling snow. It was a little after school had let out, he could see his younger sister walking up the street now to home. He let out a small sigh and pulled his shades closed, he looked over to the door to his room which was left cracked open, he could hear his sister enter the house. Nishio was too lazy to go close it, he took a seat at the edge of his bed and looked over at his TV; he had some footage of a new game that he was excited about playing. He sat on the bed frame and grabbed the controller to his system, wondering what to do with himself.

School was over for the day. Sayaka chatted idly with her group of friends as students swarmed out of the gate, calling out goodbyes. They were talking about what to get their boyfriends for Christmas--a hot topic these days now that it the streets were lit with bright lights. Miyu was opting to knit a scarf and mittens, while Risa was thinking about a watch. The young girl threw out ideas here and there for her friends, seeming equally excited, though the person she was choosing gifts for wasn't a boyfriend. No, it was her brother. Not that her friends knew him very well, seeing that he never left the house anymore.

The three girls hit the corner of the neighborhood and all went their separate ways, waving amiably. Sayaka smiled brightly until her friends were out of view, her smile fading away once they were gone. Heaving a quiet sigh, she shouldered her school bag and began to walk. Snow was falling from the sky, drifting down and catching in her pale hair and eyelashes. Her school wanted to do a festival near Christmas time, and wanted the orchestra to play in an event. That of course meant they had asked her to play the violin. The music sheet they had handed her felt heavy in her bag. How was she going to play in front of a crowd when she couldn't even bring herself to touch the violin in her own room?

"I'm home," she called out as she opened the door and pulled her shoes off. No answer. She walked into the kitchen to find a note stuck to the table. It seemed her mother wasn't going to be back until later. She did that more often nowadays, it felt...

The girl climbed the stairs, her gaze sliding over the door that always seemed to be shut. Today, it wasn't. Taking a deep breath, she peered into the room, gently pushing the door open further. "Nii-chan...?" she called tentatively. He was sitting on the bed, a game controller in his usual. She smiled, her former morose expression wiped away with a mischievous grin. "What'chu doing?" she let herself in, carelessly dropping her school bag and plopping herself down on the bed next to him.

Nishio didn't feel like calling out to Sayaka today, he wasn't really feeling like himself lately. The holidays usually brought feelings of melancholy and past feelings of regret, he felt like a loser sometimes. The sound of the stairs creaking rang through his ears and he let out a small sigh to himself, he wasn't sure how his sister felt about him, or anyone really. Nishio had a hard time trusting people, but he wasn't always this way and he knew that. He paused the video on the console and looked over to his doorway where Sayaka now was and calling for her brother. "H-Hey Sayaka.. How was your day?" and then before he knew it she was waltzing into his room, he wasn't sure how comfortable he felt he sometimes had things out in his room that he didn't want his family seeing.

He stiffened up a little bit from his slouched position earlier and looked next to himself down at her, she decided to sit next him. He gave her a small smile and turned his attention back to his tv. "I was watching a trailer for this game thats coming out next week.. It's like a classic RPG that was remastered" He mumbled, he never really spoke loud when he actually did speak.
