Fantasy Broadville High School

Castalia puts her chin up. I can't back down now.

"I can see the future," She continued. "I can perform my power on objects and living organisms, but most people... aren't comfortable with the last bit." She put her head down as she remembered how people reacted to her power last time.

Holding her head higher and biting her lip, she said, "So if you're comfortable with knowing how you die... Usually my power isn't popular among people for that reason."

He thought for a second, then he nodded his head. "I'm totally up for that. Always wanted to know that." I said, standing in front of you. "So what do I do? Do you need to read my pal or something?" He asks.

Castalia took a shaky breath.

"I only need to look at you. The problem is, I can see all the possible futures, but I can't distinguish which one will actually happen. After all, it is your choices that determine what happens to you. But if you want to know... I can give you at least 5 endings. I can't guarantee they'll be pretty - ready to start?" She looked at him with no expression, but inside was a swirling tornado of fear.

"Oh yeah." He said excitedly. He wanted to know what will happen to him, not to change it, just for the sake of knowing it. "Do it." He said.

Castalia looked deep into his face, wearing down every little wrinkle on his skin into his future.

A distant and foreign look spread across her face as she plunged deep into an intense, vivid image. Her eyes were cloudy and mysterious. Castalia could only see far beyond reality now...

"In a corner you fall. You clutch your heart. You are dead." Castalia said firmly.

"You are sitting in a rocking chair, surrounded by friends and family. You close your eyes. You are dead."

"Crossing paved ground, you hear a loud honk. You are stricken and fall. You are dead."

"You are lying on the sand. Breath runs out of your lungs as desperate bystanders attempt to save you. You are dead."

"Standing outside of a prestigious campus, you are..." Castalia stopped. "You are..." Furrowing her brow, she examined the picture. "This one's unfinished. It shows nothing of your death, only your life," Castalia smiled broadly. "you have become a successful student at a university... you are using your power to help people."

Castalia's head cleared as she blinked the image away. "We can only hope you enjoy your life enough for that future. See, when you focus on your life and how wonderful you are living, your death is unclear, because you would be satisfied even when you die." She said warmly. Smiling gently, the first time she had felt happy about her power, Castalia sat in her seat once more.

Turning to him, Castalia finished, "I hope I helped. I can only pray that my power can be put to use like yours might be."

He stared at her, not in fear but in admiration. "Wow, you are amazing." He just said, his eyes twinkling in excitement. "I wonder what's happening in the last one, can you find out more?" He asks, gently holding her hand.

Castalia's eyes widened, taken aback. No one had ever looked at her that way, the way you look at a hero. I... I'm amazing? She thought to herself. Giving a small smile and looking up at the boy, Castalia carefully brushed her long, wavy brown hair behind her ear, blushing.

"I can try. Maybe we can meet up in the cafeteria tomorrow." She responded in a kind tone. Slipping her hand away and facing the teacher again, she looked at the boy in the corner of her eye. The last person that looked at me like I was some kind of hero... Castalia shut her eyes nimbly. No, that man was too much to think about. She was just a girl when it... nevermind. After all, her father was too nefarious and impregnable to worry about.

"Castalia." She smiled under her hair. "It was nice reading your future." She could feel the gleam of his smile and quickly looked back up at the teacher.

"So, what's next?"
