Fantasy Broadville High School

When Piper had begun her procedure, Enya's eyes fluttered closed, waiting in anticipation for what was to come next. She waited for what felt like an eternity of seconds pass by, anxious to see if anything were to occur. She shuddered as endless waves of chills radiated from her spine, she felt cold, but not anything of fear. Her mind cycled through endless emotions, anxiety, and an uncomfortable armada of intimidation. When all these seconds flew by she opened her eyes and felt nothing out of the ordinary. She was still happy to be here in Class A, and still happy to see Piper. But the fear never occurred. Enya furrowed her eyebrows in confusion and looked at Piper with a dubious expression.

" Are you sure you did it? " Enya looked down at her hands and around the room as if looking for some explanation as to what had happened, or if she was truly afraid yet. But it was the same old high school classroom with cream colored desks and the scent of raging hormones and teenage angst.

" I don't feel anything " Enya shrugged, waiting to see if it was just a misunderstanding

Castalia watched the pairs with envy as she continued to scrawl down anything she could make up- all she saw from the board were written notes, and then eventually it being removed and thrown away. She tried to make it sound professional, but secretly she just wished the class would be over. Here she felt more an enigma than ever before.

" Nature manipulation, that's wonderful!" Mizu exclaimed unable to hold his thoughts back. " there is so much you could do. Miss Ava-Joy you have a true gift." He gestured with his ands to the sky for no reason. A smile appeared on Mizu's face, as if out of nowhere " May I see?" he said.

Ava-Hoy blushed and smiled. "Sure. How 'bout I grow a..." She paused for a second, thinking," An oak tree." She stepped back, giving herself some room. She took a deep breath and her eyes opened into a soft gaze staring off into nothing. Her usual green eyes were now a light gold as she proceeded with her power. Quickly yet smoothly, a sapling grew from the grown and shot up into a full grown oak tree. Twisted bark and all. Her eyes faded back to her normal eye color. "I can also use it for combat," she added with a warm smile." Her eyes went back to gold and roots forced their way up to surface and slithered as fast as lightning over to Mizu. Two wrapped around his feet, holding him in place while the others untwined around his body. "When I do use them for combat... The opposer can either die from me suffocating them, impaling them, crushing them, or positioning them with toxic plants."

Her golden gaze turned sad as she looked down, knowing she had killed someone before and how horrible the ways to die from her sounded.

Mizu had a look of complete amazement as the oak tree shot up from the ground . ' wow, such an amazing power. It's so co…' before he could finish the thought he noticed something creeping up his feet, then his legs, and finally the rest of his body. As the roots invelped him the only word that he could say was. " WOW!!"

Piper's jaw hung open slightly in surprise. "I don't feel anything," Enya had said. The words stuck in Pipers head, filling her head with doubt about her power. There had never really been a situation where her ability didn't work - until now that is.

"R-really? Nothing?" She managed to say. Piper began thinking of the possibilities of why it didn't work. First, she thought about the chance that, because Enya had never felt fear, she didn't know that she really had felt it. She quickly debunked that idea because she thought that fear was such a strong emotion that you had to know you felt it. She couldn't really think of anything else until... "What if her power is interfering with mine?" She decided to voice this.

"What if... your power is interfering with mine?"

Ava-Joy's eyes faded back to her bright green eyes and the vines slowly loosened their grips on Mizu and slithered back into the holes from which they came. It made her heart flutter to know people actually were enthusiastic about her powers and not... afraid. Once the vines had retreated, Ava said," How about yours? Can I see?"

" my power really isn't anything to marvel at, but I suppose if you want to see." Mizu said as he pulled is book bag off of his back and set it on the ground. " I mean it's nothing like yours." He unzipped the bag and pulled out a plastic water bottle. "My power is almost like a stupid magic trick, it's not worth the time."

After Mizu had finished his rant he tossed the bottle into the air, and made a tight fist with his hand. As the bottle of water fell to the ground Mizu stuck his arm out infront of his body and opened his hand. As he did this the bottle exploded and fell to the ground.

But only the plastic bottle lay on the ground, the water had been suspended in the air.

Ava stared at the levitating water. "Whoa..." She awed as she reached up to topics it. It felt like formal water but it had a cool vibe to it considering it was floating. "So how much water can you levitate at once it can you do as much as you want?"

" I don't just levitate it, I have complete control over it." Mizu continued and yes I can control as much as I want, it just takes more effort." After Mizu finished his sentence he clasped his hands together and then slowly pulled them apart. As he did this the water stretched into small droplets. " it's cool, I guess." Mizu sputtered.

"Cool!? It's amazing!" Ava Joy complimented. Her heart could practically run away because it was beating so fast. For once in her life, others could accept her for her abilities and should learn about others just like her. "Hey... Mizu," she paused, blushing nervously," Can we be friends?"

" Friends… well of course we can be friends!" Mizu said excitedly. ' friends. I don't have many of those' he thought. A smile formed on Mizu's face when he turned to look at Ava-Joy. " so, now what do we do?" He asked.

"I think we should go back to class. They might be starting to wrap things up," she suggested.

" What if your power is interfering with mine? "

The word repeated in Enya's head like a broken record. What IF my powers are the cause? She began to think back to the first and last time she had ever used her abilities, which only brought harm and despair to others.

" Well, I don't really know what I can do. I mean, I've used it ONCE, but never after that. Could be? " She left her statement as a question. Trailing off into her thoughts. I guess this class if for people like me then. Enya thought once more before she looked over at Piper and away from her forming thoughts. She leaned on the desk with her elbow, supporting her head's weight once more, smirking at Piper.

" I have no idea what I am capable of. "

" yeah, back to class we go!" Mizu with a smile as he gestured in the direction from which the pair had came.

"If she doesn't know what she's capable of, how did she end up here?" Piper wondered. It was a confusing thought - she still didn't know what Enya's power was, and neither did Enya really. If she had only used her abilities once, how did she know that her powers were definitely there? Piper thought about the complexities of what her power may be.

"I mean you could, you know, try it on me. Only if you'd like of course." She hesitated. "Is your power a mental or physical thing? I mean, I assume it's mental, or it wouldn't be conflicting with mine..." She rambled on.

Castalia closed her notebook and set her pencil down, leaning back in her seat. She pulled out Hamlet the 1918 edition from under her books and flipped to the middle of the book. She focused her energy on the words to prevent the future vision from taking over and began to read. Might as well do something worth my time while I wait for the next class, Castalia thought.

" I mean, you could, you know, try it on me.. "

Piper continued to ramble on and only when she finished did Enya raise her hand gently to put her at ease and not to further her spiel. Enya gave her new-found friend a defeated grin, before looking around at all the other class participants. She saw a boy with fluttering feathers, and the ability to fly, another with the unique ability to glow. All of these people, will all of these abilities for the betterment of themselves and the world around them, and all Enya could remember was her catatonic brother's face as he was wheeled off to the local hospital for evaluation. He may have forgiven her, but she never forgave herself. All she could remember was the feeling of acid pouring into her brain and eating away at everything, shrouding everything in her mind with a black cloud. Before she knew it her brother was on the ground, shaking violently, clutching his skull till his fingernails broke the skin there, and he screamed like she'd never heard before.

" Piper the last thing I want to do is hurt you. " Her face turned sullen and hard. " I may not know my capabilities, but I do know that what I can do is not for the better of things. "
( notifications are doing a swell job of not working )

Piper stared back into Enya's eyes, a serious look on her face. She now realized why Enya was so secretive about her power - because it was meant for harm, and not good. Piper thought that this was odd for a girl like Enya; such a nice and sweet girl, but with a power meant for none other than wrongdoing. She bit her lip, conflicted on the inside. "Oh," was all she could say.

Piper looked down at the ground, hoping that she hadn't made Enya feel insecure or embarrassed. "I'm sorry for pressuring you about it," she murmured.

When Enya saw Piper looking so defeated she giggled a little bit and smiled as big as she could.

"I'm sorry for pressuring you about it"

" Piper its going to take a lot more than that to make me feel insecure, or pressured. " She chuckled to herself at the end.

Enya's eyes trailed over to the clock, and she let out a 'hmph' noise in her defeat. 10 minutes left of the class.

" So.." Enya trailed on, " Since it IS still your first day. What do you think about this school we have here? " Enya opened her arms wide and leaned back, gesturing to the entire establishment.

"It's... interesting alright," Piper said. She looked around the room at all the different powers in action - one was flying, one had the power to control water, and yet another had shapeshifting abilities. She was looking forward to her year here at Broadville High, and she knew it was going to be quite an adventure. "I'm excited, yet very nervous."

Just as she finished speaking, Mr. Galloway whistled to attract the class' attention. "Good, good, I see most of you have a good handle on your abilities." He smiled, beaming at the new class and the great potential he could see in them. They seemed like a good bunch, most of them with great powers. "Would anyone like to volunteer to show the class your powers as an introduction?"

Enya nodded as Piper finished her statement, and soon after Mr. Galloway was whistling to the class.

" Would anyone like to volunteer to show the lass your powers as an introduction?" With that being said, Enya whipped her head around and beamed at Piper, gently nudging her arm to get the point across.

Enya leaned over and whispered to Piper, " You should volunteer you know. Your power is really cool and I'm pretty sure everyone would like to know you, new student and all. " Still beaming she continued, " You could show everybody what you can do on me, seeing as I've been through the ropes before. " She smirked.

Castalia slowly stood.

"I would like to introduce my power." Her heart pounded in her throat as she uttered the words quietly.

What are you thinking? So much for keeping your power discreet. No, I have to do this. I have to. It's the only way.

Enya's eyes trained over to the quiet voice that piped up over the crowd.

" I would like to introduce my power." A timid and reserved girl spoke.

Enya knows she had seen her face before, in the lunchroom prior to this period. She was more for faces rather than names, so it was no surprise that she didn't know her name. The girl had long thick brown hair that waves slightly coming down past her shoulders, curling ever-so-slightly. And her big brown eyes, as the rest of her face, were pulled into an emotionless expression as she offered to introduce her ability to the class.

Seeing my partner lose interest, I found the girl wanting to demonstrate her powers a lot more interesting. "What's your power? Do you need a volunteer?" I asked, going in front of her.
