Fantasy Branch A Magic School

"I'm no match or you, no matter what I do. I'm no where near as strong." she admitted. "I'd use my lightning, but I'd probably kill you."

"I have no problem knocking you out, I'm worried I'd kill you. But, I'll give that a shot. Mind if I were to just practise it a few times, rather than outright attacking you?" she asked as she prepared her stance for a trial attempt.

((this is the point when she'll realise she needs a CAD. xD ))

Emily just ran to avoid the strikes. "THAT'S NOT WHAT I MEANT!" she dolphin dived to avoid one that was actually going to hit her, but... She seemed to vanish. Absorbed by something. She was spat out from behind Stephanie, and she ended up crash get in to her. In no way was this an intentional event. Even Emily looked baffled by what happened.

((she can be electricity. She went through power sockets in the walls.))

Emily was in quite a daze as she rolled off of Stephanie. ".... What.... Just.... Happened...?" she asked slowly.

Emily looked at her hand. I crackled with electricity. "I think I can be electricity..." she muttered. She also stood. "okay, need to work on honing this. Would you mind providing me with a substitute sparing partner I can beat the heck out of without risk of killing? Maybe and iron golem?" she asked.

Emily threw her arms out in the 'flame on' manner, causing her arms to crackle with power. Emily seemed to be extremely focused. The lightning that sparked around her arms tightened down and bunched at her balled fists Emily then punched at the golem, though not close enough to actually make contact. A bolt of lightning reached out at the golem.... And curved to the right, arcing to a power socket. The light all exploded and fire broke out around where the bolt had hit the wall socket.

Emily was dazed yet again. She moaned, and brought her hand up to rub her new bruise. The wall socket was still on fire. The teacher took a fire extinguisher and put it out. Glass from the light bulbs had showered the entire room, and the power was out across the school. "sorry.." was all Emily could really manage at the time.

((Narration post. @lbmsRP feel free to tell me if I'm overstepping my bounds with this/recon it.))

The power surge blasted the lights in the classroom. Glass rained down, but somehow never landed. Through the door, one could see that the lights in the hallways had flickered out, showing that the school's power grid had been damaged.

The teacher sighed, setting the extinguisher down and pulling out their phone. "Repairs needed in freshman class 1."

A few seconds passed before a large magic circle appeared on the classroom floor. Symbols swirled in the circle as the lightbulbs repaired themselves, the burns around the socket faded, and the lights outside the classroom flickered back on. Once all the bulbs in the classroom were whole once more, they too flickered to life.

The teacher noticed the many dumbfounded looks on students' faces, and addressed them: "It takes more than a spell gone wrong to cause lasting damage here at the premier school for magic."

Having flipped to a new page to begin working on his next masterpiece, Emil remained withdrawn from the chaotic events surrounding him. They were no real concern of his. What did surprise him, however, was the fact that teacher had left him alone for this time. Perhaps his victory had a few witnesses after all? To him, that wouldn't be the worst situation to be found in. No point in even bothering with something such as this if there was no glory to be had.

Raising his head toward the ceiling as the lights abruptly went out from Emily and Stephanie's confrontation, Emil blinked and let out a light sigh before looking down to his notebook.

'Right. It's been long enough.'

Flipping back to the initial page of the book from earlier, Emil pressed his pen onto the outline of the student who so foolishly challenged him, tearing it. In an instant the student's shadow had returned in the same position as earlier, and his body shot out from it, rising a few inches into the air before landing back onto the cold, tile floor.

"So, how was it? The void?" Emil whispered, his eyes lighting up with a child-like glee. Reaching over to his ankle he casually swatted at the disembodied hand that was still grasping onto its target, only for it to fade away in a gray smoke. The boy, still disoriented over the experience, raised his eyes toward the artist and immediately felt a paralyzing fear overcome him.

"The...how did you...what?"

Clapping his hands together, Emil grinned from ear to ear as he stared down at his sparring partner.

"I"m so proud of you. You're the first to make it back as you were before entering. Most don't! Others are missing an arm or two. Then there's the ones that somehow come back with extra." Emil stated, a hint of amusement to his tone. Stumbling backward on his palms, the boy hastily jumped to his feet and ran toward the exit, brushing past several others in the room on his way out.

'Now round two is mine as well.' Emil thought, feeling proud that everything had worked out so well. Everything he had just stated to him was completely fabricated. Absolutely untrue. There was never any real threat posed to him. The denizens of the dark would bend to his will, he wouldn't accept it any other way. Now that he was gone, however, the number of students remaining was uneven. Everyone else had already chosen somebody else for this session, so now the rest of the period was his to do with as he wished.

Emily accepted the hand up. "are you kidding? You're not the one who screwed up just now." she said. Once she was on her feet, she wobbled a little. "I think I need one of those CAD thingies."

"I didn't think I needed one before. Now I know i do." she looked at the previously ruined classroom. "... I missed something else, didn't I." she said. She shook her head, disregarding the question. "I think something made out of metal would suffice. Teacher, can we be excused? I need a CAD so I don't kill anyone."

The teacher frowns slightly at Emily. "Didn't your family buy one for you before you came? Well, no matter - just grab one from the supplies room. It's on the second floor, right by the eastern stairs."

The teacher then approaches the sparring partner of the student who just fled the room. "What, pray tell, was that all about?"

-----

In response to the sudden power outage and the repair request, the assistance of a certain Disciplinary Duo had been requested. The two made their way down the hallway, having just exited the eastern stairwell.

"honestly, I only really know how to shape shift. I didn't know of I could do that Intel I did it just now. Thank you." Emily looked to Stephanie to see if she was going to follow, then made her way out to the hall.

Stephanie and Emily are stopped in the hallway outside their classroom by none other than Keith and Madi. Keith addresses the pair first.

"Ah, the girl from earlier. Why am I not surprised." Keith exaggerates false bewilderment, before continuing in a more earnest tone. "You aren't hurt, are you? Didn't hurt anyone else?"

"no one was hurt." Emily said simply. And, virtually to spite the man, she shape shifted into the cheetah girl form again. Her tail swished idly from side to side. "just a stray lightning bolt on my part, due to lack of a CAD. A mere accident." she said. She would acknowledge Stephanie's question once they were headed down the hall again.

Both Keith and Madi look at Emily as though she had just made pigs fly. Madi is the first to recover her composition. "Ya can do that wit'out a CAD ta keep the spell safe? Amazin'..."

Keith coughs slightly to regain his composure, and possibly to bring the others' attention back to himself. "Well, we don't want any more accidents like that. We don't want anyone getting hurt accidentally, after all, so be sure to use your CAD from now on. You do have a CAD, right?"

Emily looked passed the two to Stephanie, who was trying to rush them. "one moment, Steph." she said, then smirked at the pairs surprise to her abilities. "shape shifting is easy. And no. No CAD. That's why we are not on class. We're going to find me one so no one does get hurt. And I assure you, shape shifting without a CAD is perfectly safe. I've been doing it for years."

((edited. Proceed))

Madi and Keith shared a glance. "You DO know what a CAD does, right?"

"Come wit' us, we'll get ya one an' tell ya on da way."

The two upperclassmen began to lead Emily and Stephanie to the supply room. Keith began explaining the device's purpose, seemingly not caring whether the pair knew already or not.

"The CAD is like a book of spells. You focus magic into it, choose the spell, and it provides the incantation part almost instantly. It makes controlling magic much, much easier, and you can use spells created by others by adding the spell to the device. Really, I don't know why you would ever use magic without one."

Emily shrugged, having not known anything she was being told. "not having to rely on something that could be taken away?" she offered as an excuse. She did however have a question. "what can a CAD be?"

((I already have an idea for her CAD, which will actually be a series of items.))

Madi's face lit up. "My fav'rite is the one built into my cell phone, but it works slow, so I use dis when workin'." She drew what appeared to be a pistol with a very short barrel from beneath the veil of her hair. "Dey can also be jewelry and so much more!"

"I would personally recommend a bracelet so you can use it while transformed, but if you see something you like, don't let me stop you." Keith chimed in. "You should probably get a general use one, though. Specialized CADs aren't good for learning." Keith then turned to Stephanie. "I believe you mean tendency. Still, that's a genius solution. It must be hard to fix it when it breaks, though..."

Keith frowned at Stephanie. "Exaggeration is unbecoming. The stairs are right here, and the room we're going to is right at the top." He gestured at the open double doors before the group, through which the stairs were visible.

((Sorry guys, I need to sleep. Class at 2 tomorrow, and it's 4 AM.))

Emily was thinking deeply, and as they arrived, seemed to break from a trance. "ah, thank you." she headed down.

Emily wandered about, seeing what was there to choose from. She found the weapon section, and bypassed that entirely without a second thought. She arrived in the jewellery section. She collected a steel cuff and tried it on. ".... Nope, doesn't suit me." she returned it to its spot and took up another. "perfect..." she looked for Stephanie. "got one! I'm ready to go."

Emily raised her arm. Around her fuzzy wrist was a gleaming silver band. "I think of this one suits me." she said. She fiddled with it curiously. "how does it work again?" she asked. She didn't dare experiment in here, for risk of breaking something else.
