Futuristic Brain Burger

"Yeah, will do, man." He replied simply, but went back to sitting by the edge of the roof with Conner. ".. If you don't mind me askin', did you ever have... Any family, before all this? Like... A family of your own, I mean." He asked hesitantly, looking at him for a moment before looking across off of the roof. (@Beowulf)

Conner sat there for a bit, shocked at the sudden question. After composing himself, he says "Well, I had a go at it. I got married to a little spitfire and trust me, I tried my hardest to get a family going. But it just didn't work out. Where she wanted us to go to church, I could have cared less. Where I wanted to play a game of paint ball, she wanted to be at the library. We just conflicted to much, we got annoyed at each other for the smallest reasons. We were just to different. Don't get me wrong, I beleive that is a big part of a successful relationship. I dated a few girls that were just like me. It was like lookin' in one of those carnival mirrors. Only it gave you a rack and whacked off your junk. But as I said, it just didn't work out. She got the rings, her cats, and even my fire bird, I loved that car. But I kept the house and some other things." At the end of that, he realized he might have revealed a lot more about himself then what he originally intended.

Nathan frowned but then laughed at his way of describing anything sexual. ".. I'm sorry to hear that it didn't all work out... I mean, there was this one girl I liked in fifth grade, but I was only ten then, so... It didn't really mean much, but it was somethin'." He shrugged and smiled. "With all this goin' on... It makes me think about life before all this, like... Friends I had, other family members I had, school, teachers - Hell, even the old woman who worked behind the counter at the candy store. It's sad to think about, Conner... But usually, to be sad about somethin' you had to be happy about it in the first place. I remember I read somethin' that... I think it was Doctor Seuss that said it. 'Don't cry because it's over, smile because it happened' - I mean, that's how you have to think about everythin' we had before and when people weren't a bunch of corpses - Sure, it's sad it's gone, but at least we had it - at least the world wasn't always the way it is now." He rambled on, not really realizing how meaningful he was actually getting. He just smiled and shrugged at the end of his little 'speech'. (@Beowulf)

"Guess your right again, Nathan." The kid was getting all philosophical on him, and quoting the good old Dr. Sues. "You got a good head on your shoulders. Bet you when all this starts to clear up and civilization gets back together, you won't have the slightest trouble finding you a nice girl to go out with." he continued. For all Conner knew, he could be that kinda creepy guy in the group. But he liked to veiw himself as a sort of uncle for the kids.

"Heh, you never know... Personally, I think it's gonna' be a long while before things clear up, but somethin' to get up and work for, eh?" He smiles. "Seein' as you told me so much about you, I guess it won't hurt to say somethin' about myself. I'm not sure if you knew, but... My dad died a month after I was born. I found out recently that it was a drink-drivin' accident, but aside from that, Norman was pretty much my dad when I was growin' up - I don't tell many people, but if it wasn't for me, he woulda' passed school the first time he went through his finals." He chuckled softly and glanced around, taking a deep breath. "My mom... She was very... I don't know--.. Don't say anythin' to Norman, but she hit him a lot. He let that happen to protect me - He always hid me away and went out there to 'face the demon'." He shrugged it off with a light-hearted laugh. (@Beowulf)

"Well your mom seems like a class a bitch, no offense. And I'm sorry to hear about your dad, he was probably a good man. But that is in the past, and your brother raised you right. Your mom had no right to hit either of you. As it was, it's illegal. But hey, it's over now. Now we got the walking dead to worry about, much easier." Conner said, returning the small laugh. "Hey, go grab my Enfield from my room. We can pop some zeds with it. It should be just inside the door to the left."

"Heh, I think we should use somethin' silenced so we don't wake everyone up." He said softly as he rose to his feet. "We don't want to panic anyone, either." He shrugged and looked at him for a moment. "She WAS a class-A bitch." He smiled. "She's probably a bit more skeletal now, though." He stated, chuckling to himself for a moment. "My dad mighta' been a good man, I don't know - He drank a lot, but I'm reckoning he was good before all that." He nodded at Conner and wandered off inside; he got a silenced and scoped rifle from inside - it was a sniper, of which he brought a couple of clips of ammo with; he handed it to Conner and sat beside him.

"Give that a try, we ain't wakin' anyone up with that." He said with a confident nod. (@Beowulf)

"Alrighty then. See the zed that looks like a Mr. Bill Murry? Bet you a can of corn I can hit him. I get two if it's the head." Conner says as he sights in on a zed a good distance out. Taking a breath in, breath out, breath in, hold it, and he fired. He managed to hit it on the left shoulder, spinning it around. "I believe that's a can of corn for me."

Meanwhile, Noah was coming back down from the roof. It was one of his moments where he didn't want to be around anyone and just smoked like a cheminee. It was his habit and the one he temporarily stopped but finding a pack of cigarettes at the store just gave him this impulse. He didn't want to restart since he did need all of his stamina but after Skylar getting the flu just made him anxious honestly. She would always say it was ok, getting better but she wasn't. The fever was continuously going high and he could see her skin flushed and her eyes red. She barely could sleep and was completely drained from all energy.

-----

Skylar was getting tired of this room. She hated it and tried standing up with difficulty. She managed to walk towards the door with a cover over her shoulders. She was coughing a lot because of the dryness. She opened the door of her room when a headache and dizziness hit. She stumbled down on the ground hitting her head knocking her unconscious on the ground.

"Seein' as we share everythin' I don't think the bet's very risky," Nathan said with a smirk. "We need somethin' more interestin' than a can of corn. Somethin' involvin' the snow, maybe..." He said with a chuckle as he looked off towards the walker that he'd hit. He reached out and took the rifle from him, crouching down and grinning. ".. Make somethin' up - If we mess it up, we suffer for it. I bet I can take this guy down, one shot." He said with a curt nod. (@Beowulf)

"Alright then, you don't drop him and I'll dump snow down your back." Conner said, squinting at the distant zed. He had a point, one he hadn't really thought of.

"Heh, you've got it." He said as he crouched down and aimed the rifle off at the walker; he took a few steady deep breaths and then took a shot. The bullet struck it in the face and struck its frozen jaw and shattered it entirely. The walker stumbled back but then looked back up, standing perfectly still. "Damn it!" Nathan exclaimed. (@Beowulf
Chandler went upstairs from the bathroom and went into the main hallway before seeing her passed out on the floor. He gave a sudden panicked gasp as he ran over to her and crouched down, shaking her shoulder softly with one hand. ".. Miss? Can you hear me?" He called out to her. (@32sillylight32)

Skylar slowly opened her eyelid, feeling dizzy and seeing blurry. '' No...No...'' she struggled to say as she pushed the boy again but all she ended up doing is cough up blood. Tears started forming in her eyes. '' Move away,'' she said not wanting to get the new boy sick.

He slowly moved away from her and slightly held his hands up in front of him, sighing softly. ".. Okay, okay... I--.. Do you need me to help you? Do you want me to get you a drink, or something...?" He asks hesitantly, quietly gulping in anxiousness. (@32sillylight32

Skylar coughed up more blood before losing consciousness again. Many complications with her diabetes and at that point, she was sicker and needed medical treatment at the hospital. But there was none left his this world.

"Oh, Christ..." He muttered to himself as he quickly glanced around. He'd only been briefly introduced to most people, and he tried to recall the name of the man that was a relative of Skylar. He thought and thought, clicking his fingers frantically and tapping his foot on the ground. Then it came to him. "Noah! Need you here, man!" He called out as soon as he remembered his name - he was hoping he was nearby so he could get here quickly. (@32sillylight32)

"You didn't drop him, time to pay up." As he said this, he gathered up a handful of snow, ready to dump it down Nathan's back. Course he'd take a shot to show how it was done, but that was after this.

"Aw... Come on, look - I shot his bottom jaw clean off - that's gotta' count for somethin'... Still a headshot." He muttered, shrugging as he tensed his muscles and closed his eyes tight. ".. Get it over with." He said, a very faint grin on his face. He was awaiting that wet and freezing substance to get put down the back of his coat and shirt. (@Beowulf)

"On three. One... Three!" Then he shoved the snow down the boys back. "Now give me that rifle, let me show you how it's done." And suiting his own words, he takes the rifle and scopes in on the poor bugger. Breath in, breath out, in, hold, and fired. He hit the thing square in the chest, causing it to stagger. Holding his breath, he waits for the thing to fall, but it doesn't. "What a load of bull s**t."

"Jesus!" He hops around for a moment and grips the top of his head with his hands, gasping for air while he shook his body to get all the snow out of his clothing. He shivered for a moment and then looked at how Conner hadn't manage to kill it yet either. ".. That was worse than me, man." He said with a smirk as he leaned over and scooped up some snow with one hand. "Your turn." He said quietly. (@Beowulf)

"Fine, just do it." Conner replied, gritting his teeth and readying himself for the cold. That SOB should have dropped by now, especially with all the shots it's getting hit with. "If we can't drop it, I'm surprised this little group of ours is still alive." he said after the snow was dumped down his back and he shook as much out as possible.

Nathan laughed as he dropped it down his back and took the rifle from him - it was time for a new approach. He went down into a prone position and rested the rifle on the edge of the roof, looking down the scope at the center of the walker's forehead. He took a few deep breaths as his grip on the rifle tightened; it was strange. Ever since he'd shot the jaw off it'd just stopped moving entirely. It just stood there in an idle position. Why? Who knew. He breathed in slightly and held his breath to steady his aim while gently squeezing the trigger of the rifle.

Click. The bullet travelled and before they knew it chunks of frozen bone and flesh flew out the back of the zed's head. It slowly slumped to the ground and Nathan quickly jumped up, grinning to himself. "Got him." He whispered softly as he removed one hand from the rifle and held it up with an open palm for Conner, clearly asking for a high-five. (@Beowulf)

Stewart walks up to the roof to see what all the shooting is about,

"And what's going on up here?" He says as he walks over to the two kids, cup of coffee in hand.

(@DrTrollinski @Beowulf)

Conner did give Nathan a high five, and even offered to help him up. "Ya, just seeing how far out a zombie can get before we can't pop it. Nothing special."
