Realistic or Modern Boundless (Always Open)

Ever since the barrier had risen, cutting off the city from the people, locations, and amenities that lay outside of its border, Seto had immediately despised the sudden lack of the ambient noise of cars, conversations, and the cool breeze as it blew past his ears. However, at this moment, he couldn't be more thankful for its leave. It would've been near impossible to hear the lone straggler had these common noise polluters still been present.

The man, after rising from a pile of rubble caused by god knows what (A lie- Seto knew, of course, it had to be the work of yet another rampaging Meta) spoke to the previously empty street. Seto, turning his head and his attention in the direction of said man, watched cautiously as the stranger approached the alleyway below.

(He won't have much luck,) Seto thought, (Those walls don't look like he's gonna be getting by them anytime soon. wait, Does... does he have a gun?)

Briefly, The man perched on the rooftop considered letting the stranger walk right into (figuratively, of course- It looked damn near impossible to enter the location unless you were to jump from the roof) whatever mess was playing out in the back alley. After all, it technically wasn't his problem, and maybe he should leave the gun-toting mystery man alone just for the sake of his own self preservation, but... That super-strong asshole-metta was still around the corner. And the alley the stranger approached was probably way too close for comfort to the killing machine that was probably already bored and stalking for a new plaything. And really, who knows what those that took up the alley itself were capable of, either.

Despite Seto's overwhelming feelings of general bad, He rose his arms, stared directly at the stranger, and waved like a madman.

The two debated the boy for a bit longer, though it ceased when Artemis opened his mouth. Porter's lips twitched up a bit, a slight smile at the previously shy stranger. "You're soooo cooolll Arttyyyy." Astrid fawned, slamming a fist to the kitchen table. It rattled loudly and the dogs perked from their slumber, though not for long, as they were used to the girl's antics by then. "We'll help you!" She cried, taking Artemis's hand into hers and giving the boy a dramatic look of awe and approval. Porter snorted and stood up, swooping about the table and collecting the dishes. He wasn't so impressed.
"Did your wits tell you to survive without a weapon and follow a stray dog?" He asked the boy as he rinsed the plates and began stacking the dishwasher. Having water and power was easy enough for Porter to rig up. He looked back over to his sister, and though she'd released Artemis from her grip, she was still gazing at him, star struck. Porter closed his eyes and took a breath through his nose, wondering about his judgements. Saving Artemis was right, but saving the city? Well he'd not been too keen on the idea since the outbreak.
Artemis Fletcher

Artemis was taken aback at the girls sudden outburst, his face turning red as she took his hand in hers, he met her eyes for a moment and then quickly glanced over at Porter. He gave the man a questioning look. wondering if this girl was playing some sort of trick on him. Surely, it can't be this easy. Taking a second to regain his composure, he would glance over at Astrid out of the corner of his eye, wincing as he noticed the look she was giving him. Just how far am I willing to take this? The girl seemed ready and willing to follow him to the ends of the earth, but her brother, it was obvious he was the deciding factor in all of this. Or maybe he isn't, maybe this girl calls the shots and he just tags along. Hmmm.

"You know, in my opinion dogs are more trustworthy then your average human; and given the nature of the situation I was in, I had little time to bring a weapon with me when I made my escape." he replied, placing his trembling hands underneath the table where nobody could see them. It was hard feigning confidence, when deep down inside, he was no different from the nervous wreck he had been when they had first met. "And what does that have to do with saving the city? There are people out their who could use our help. Civilians who are now, as we idly sit here enjoying a warm meal, lost and afraid. Probably hiding in some dank basement waiting to be rescued. But I think you and I both know that its not going to be that simple, and by the time help finally does arrive...they'll probably all be dead. What this city needs, the answer to the root of the problem, is a cure. And what if I told you, that I have a way of making such a cure? Would you consider helping me then?" he said, not bothering to look over at Astrid. He already knew what her reaction would be. So his eyes were focused on Porter, studying his face intently as he waited for a response.

Finally coming to a reluctant halt in front of the shadow wall, Nickolas let an almost inaudible sigh escape. He reached out at touched the incoming mass and, finding an almost velvet like texture with damn near no resistance, turned to see the same at the other end of the alley. 'Well fuck you too man.'

"Fine. What exactly did you want to 'chat' about then?" He asked, more annoyance than concession. He was already eyeing up the alley walls - they were probably rough enough to provide handholds he could use to climb to the roof two stories up. He didn't want to risk it if he didn't have to but he may not have a choice if this guy didn't want to play ball. If he was just a psycho out for blood Nickolas was going to have a tough time of it.
"To put it simply, I'm bored. So lets play a game shall we? If you can provide me with a few minutes of entertainment, without dying mind you, I'll let you go. How does that sound to you? Although honestly, you simply have no choice in the matter. Try to escape, and I'll off you here and now." the gut wrenching sound of the walls scraping against the concrete could still be heard, the distance between the two only lessening while the mysterious voice patiently waited for a reaction.

Maxwell saw someone wave. He stood a little beneath him, a jump sure to break bones again. He waved like he wanted something from Maxwell, so he decided to just go to him. Putting his gun back in his vest, he jumped down. A breaking noise was heard and a pain flew through Maxwell. He then just stood up and looked at the stranger. "What do you want?", he asked, not harsh but without accentuation.

@xandr

"Oh, shit- Um, well, you didn't have to jump that, man..." He said, startled and taking a few instinctual steps backwards from the stranger. "That sounded... like, Really damn painful. are you, you know. Okay?"

He asked, sounding incredibly unsure of himself
and nervous, to boot. It wasn't entirely obvious who he was nervous for, however- himself, or this... Weird, building-hopping, intimidating gentleman. He sent an anxious look to the street below, hoping to whatever was out there that nothing had heard the sounds of the mans fall- and, of course, the asphalt remained as empty as ever. Considering this, Seto figured he was just being paranoid. Or careful. Most likely, both.

His gaze fixed back on the man in front of him, waiting for his response.

@Ami the breadling

"Yeah I'm alright, I just broke my legs, nothing serious.", Maxwell said, stretching front to the stranger. "I jump higher distances for breakfast man. Anyway, you waved. What's up then? I mean you don't wave to anyone for no reason do you? To many raging metas running around to do so. Like, what if I intended to kill you?"

Seto tilted his head slightly at the other as he regarded his statement.

"Guess i'm just lucky you didn't." He retorted, crossing his arms just under where his camera hung from his neck. "besides, I can put up a fight..." He said, although with what resembled a pout and a tone nowhere near menacing in any way. He shook his head, though, getting his thoughts back on track.

"Right, yeah, ok- So obviously you're a Meta, considering you just broke your
legs and are, like, fine, so this warnings a little misguided, but..." He paused, looking towards a street branching left. "I just came from down that way," A quick nod in the direction as his eyes scanned the area "And it is crawling with killers. You know, the vaccinated ones. Stole my food. Anyway, There's some seriously deadly ones, you know?. Fire, strength, you name it. Not a fun time, and I suggest we get out of here- Just thought you might wanna know."

Wallace gazed at the restrained captive they had acquired for a moment. He realized it would take some time for her to regain consciousness. It was quite awkward in fact to just stand there and wait around.

"Would you like a drink? I have a lovely bottle of Cognac in the-"

"Now is not the time for small talk sir." Mia responded with a strict and firm tone. He cleared his throat but did not say a thing, rather putting his arms behind his back while he walked towards the doors to the balcony.

"I think I'll have a look outside. Call for me when she awakens." He stood in front of the doors and opened them.

"Understood." She reaffirmed, feeling for a seat. She grabbed one near the couch and pulled it in front of the girl, sitting down. She gave the captive a poke on the knee, slouching on a free arm and waited.

"Yeah, I ain't messin with the vaccinated ones. Thanks for the warning then. So, I didn't catch your name, what was it again?", Maxwell said. He waited for the stranger to choose a way he considered save.

"Oh- Right, yeah, names." He rolled his eyes at himself. It probably would've been a good idea to start off with introductions, instead of letting the information linger.

"Seto Siyu," He reached his hand out, inviting the other into a handshake. "At your service. Sort of."

He realized it was... probably not a good idea to give his full name out, but hell- Considering their surroundings, they were basically mid-apocalypse. It probably couldn't hurt to know surnames. Not anymore than the things already trying to kill them, anyways. He just hoped the other reciprocated... Or at least give him a nickname, just as something to call the other.

@Ami the breadling

Maxwell took the hand. "Maxwell. My name is Maxwell. But do not, I repeat, not call me Max. For your own good.", Maxwell said. He hated that shortened form of his name. The last one who used it now laid dead in some dumpster. But after the "apocalypse" no one dared to use it.

He did not tell his name usually, but this guy seemed ok. After all he helped Maxwell, so he earned the name. "So, where do we go then? Any suggestions?"

Seto nodded, pulling out of the handshake and surveying the few buildings around them. He squinted as the sun beamed down onto the two, reflecting off of the odd force-feild keeping them trapped in the deadly, miserably decaying city. It was really quite unpleasant, and Seto was glad to be able to avert his eyes after judging their location.

"...If we go a few blocks upwards- or, that way," He gestured to the patch of buildings to his back. "We should end up pretty close to my apartment. Food, water, all that good stuff. Maybe just until things die down, you know, as a precaution?" He offered.

"We shouldn't run into anything unpleasant if we're careful, but no promises." He shrugged as he said this, sighing and peered out at the crumbling city surrounding them. "But I guess that goes for just about anywhere around here, now."

"Sounds like a plan. Also, thanks for that I guess. Appreciate it." Maxwell pulled out his bayonet. "Take that. You'll need a weapon. But if that somehow touches me with its blade, I will kill you. Okey?" He said, while following Seth on the way he described and lit himself a cigarette.

"Uhm- I don't really know how to use this but, uhm. Thanks." Seto said, a measure of uncertainty to his voice as he carefully took the knife from Maxwell. He placed it, sheath and all, into the bag that still remained over his shoulder. At least this one hadn't fallen, he reflected, as he would've hated loosing his personal belongings much more than the food he'd looted. "And no, I'm not gonna cut you with it, or try anything, or whatever. Not that I've had the experience, but trying to kill someone with their own knife seems like the worst thing you could do to a guy."

They reached the edge of the roof they were walking across, and in front of them was a building a fair amount taller than the one they were currently peering off of. However, a rusted, but otherwise intact ladder hung from the side. A fair distance away, but probably a feasible jump, without considering the variable as to whether or not they'd be able to even catch on to the thing after hurling themselves towards it. Seto huffed as he looked over at the man next to him, not quite frowning but certainly displeased.

"Only way down. I mean, I think so- I didn't see anything else before, besides this." He gestured to the unstable looking mess of a ladder, a look of unease in his eyes. "Think it'll hold us...?"

@Ami the breadling

"Only one way to find out.", Maxwell said as he took a step back and jumped towards the ladder, grabbing it and sliding it down. It burned his hands but I accepted that. As long as he had no serious injury's he would always he fine. "It's save, at least it was for me. If you fall I catch you...", he called and whispered "or not, belongs to how I feel."

"ah, shit..." Seto muttered under his breath, scanning the ladder and scowling at the loose bots, cracked metal, and rusted exterior. He really didn't want to risk this, but... Hell, what choice did he have? It's not as if staying on the rooftop was an option, and otherwise he'd have to play his chances 50/50 and leap-of-faith the whole 10-Story complex.

Considering that neither of those sounded like a good idea, he steeled himself and took a few (semi)calming breaths. Seto climbed the small concrete ledge, anxiety blooming within him as he gazed down at the drop he faced. Just more incentive to not screw this up, he figured, as his fingertips left the stability of the ground and he rose to his feet. Just jump, right? easy. Super easy. The easiest.

Seto huffed, braced himself, and pushed himself away from the safety of the building and into open air.

He surprised himself as he caught onto the ladder with some semblance of ease, his hands becoming hot as hell with the friction as he slid towards the ground. It was going great, comparative to the gruesome scene he was imagining, and he allowed himself a smile of victory as his feet came in contact with solid, non-painful ground.

@Ami the breadling

"See? Easy. Very easy. So, on we go, Seto.", Maxwell said, dropping his now finished cigarette and stamping on it. He then went on to go the described way. "Just a human, are you not?"

Seto walked to Maxwell's left, lightly rubbing his hands on his jeans and frowning at the unpleasant feeling left by the friction. He paused at the mans question, briefly considering bluffing about his abilities, but... What was the point? It was no longer something shunned upon, now that most humans were known as those who had low chances of survival down here. He straightened out his shoulders, reminding himself not to slouch as he let his hands clasp around the strap of his bag. He shook his head as he started his response.

"No, actually. I mean, I get it, I don't really look like a Meta. But yeah, If I was a human there's absolutely
no chance I'd be here. That's practically a guarantee."

@Ami the breadling

"Wrong. Sunnyboy made it as well. Oh, you got to know, sunnyboy is a human I found. He was named Artemis. He was obviously scared from me, I don't even know why. I enjoyed myself, chasing him a bit. He must still be there somewhere.", Maxwell laughed as he thought of Artemis. "So what's your ability then? My one is enhanced cell production obviously."

Seto stopped to consider this question. In all honesty, he didn't really have a name for what he did-- He knew it was electricity-based, in a way, but that wasn't much to go off of.

"uhm- It's like... This electricity-type stuff, sort of. Comes from my hands. Pretty useful, so far, when it comes to propulsion. Also packs a punch when I manage to actually hit something with it. I made a big, weird force-feild, barricade thingy from it one time, too. Haven't been able to do it since, though, cause I think it only really kicks in if I know I'm in a whole mess of danger."

@Ami the breadling

Seto shrugged, mindlessly rubbing at his sore shoulder. The whole left side of his body hurt from the failed tuck-and-roll earlier, and he made a mental note to check himself over for any substantial injuries one they reached his apartment.

"It works. I'm awful at using it, still. I never really got a chance to, until, you know." He gestured to the desolate city around them, eyeing a particularly caved-in movie theater across the street. "This."

@Ami the breadling ((okay, goodnight.))

"Yeah, I get it. Well, I got to use mine before. So Seto, do you have any family or something?", Maxwell asked, while still going his way to Setos apartment.

Astrid's beaming smile remained unwavering as she watched Artemis turn pink. She giggled and tipped her bright eyes at her brother, lashes batting. Porter had long grown immune to her persuasions, as she relied all too much on the idea that her charm could convince anyone to agree with her. "I find it strange that you couldn't possibly see what my question has to do with saving the city. If you're not prepared to save yourself, how will you manage an entire city?" He raised a brow at Artemis and toyed with the boy's speech in his head. A cure? There was no cure for the darkness in all people. Even if Artemis could manage to cure the metas, wouldn't something else simply fill the cured void? Fill the need for humans to hate and destroy one another?

He watched the boy fidget under his gaze, hands slipping out of view. He could only know these nervous habits due to his experience with the human mind. Many a mind he'd overpowered and many a mind he'd dissected. "And what needs curing?" He asked curtly, finding his way back to the kitchen table. Astrid frowned dramatically at her brother and over at Artemis. "Yeah Arty, what's your plan to cure people? Get rid of the metas altogether?" Her voice was high and curious as she drummed fingers against the table top. "Cause metas aren't bad, you know. People are." She told him with a nod.

Seto shook his head, kicking a stray rock on the street as they walked.

"Not in the city, or anything. My parents, they're in San Fran right now, thankfully. Moved away a few years ago. Other than that, the rest are in Korea." He replied to the man's question. "What about you?"

@Ami the breadling

"I'm alone. Let's not talk about my past, can we? Gets me into a bad mood and that's the least we want.", Maxwell said, frustratedly kicking a rock as well. He threw away his cigarette, even though it was only half used.
