Realistic or Modern Boarding School Hostage

Max climbed back to her feet and walked over to Jethro and tapped him on the shoulder. "Jethro? I'm sorry. I didn't mean to yell at you. It's just, I am very overwhelmed from... well... And I have trouble with anger sometimes and you were there to yell at." She looks down at the ground "I think it scared me more than anything that I couldn't answer the question, that I'm not actually in control of it myself."

Jethro looked at her for several long moments, an eyebrow raising.

"Don't apologize" He said simply before pacing the room again, this time he seemed to just be thinking.

@Phil

Max watched him confused and then followed him "why not? I wronged you and that is what you are supposed to do. It's societal protocol."

"Sorry, is what you tell your girlfriend when you finish too early. Now is not the time for apologies. Now is the time for thought. Besides, apologizing because societal protocol dictates that you do is not an apology at all. It's a lie."

Jethro replied in a very matter of fact way.

Lilith nodded as she examined the room. There were four bunk beds with three rows in one section of the cell. They seemed dirty and rough but would serve their purpose. Lilith picked a bottom bunk and sat down causing the bed springs to squeak. She looked at the group,"Hey. I think we should all get some rest. It has to be late and tomorrow may be harsh....so...I don't know." She was trying to sound reassuring but her voice came off more as sweet, scared, and reluctant. She wished that she had more to wear than the school uniform. She took off her vest, then her tie, and untucked her white blouse from the skirt before kicking off her shoes and stuffing her socks inside them. Afterwards she curled up under the blankets and sighed while watching the others.

(Uniform btw since I forgot to include it)

Max crosses her arms "now you're the one being rude." She glares at Jethro. "I think we should still be polite to each other. I mean what else have we got at this point?"

Gale takes his coat off, leaving him in his regular school uniform. He then slides down on the wall and puts his coat over him like a blanket.

"Exactly, what have we got? We have each other. " Jethro addressed everyone in the room at this point.

"I get it, we are all scared. Hell, I'm scared but I'm not letting it cloud my mind. We are the children of some of the most talented people on the planet in this room. We need to work together and if we do we may survive this. As I said, we are all scared but the difference between the Cowardly and the Courageous comes down to one thing. What they did when fear was present. These men did not bring us out here to kill us. We are too valuable for that. Ian is planning something else and I'm willing to bet it has to do with what our parents do. That much is obvious. No one knows where we are people. That means there is no help coming, we are as the military would say 'the man on the ground'. It is up to us to break free but we need to decide now is what we are, Cowardly or Courageous."

Lilith looked over at Gale while holding herself up with one arm,"Not going to use a bed?", she asked him curiously. The beds were not perfect but they had to be better than the floors. She then looked over at Jethro who gave his speech,"Don't you think acting out will only get you punished more? I get the whole courageous thing but do you really think they aren't listening to us right now? I like your attitude and skills but it's dangerous. I mean what do you expect from these kids? Most of them haven't seen actual violence until today." She looked genuinely worried about everyone when she spoke. This place had to be bugged.

Gale watches this. Jethro, the military kid, gave a decent speech. But nobody wants to die, few would join him. He decides to speak up. "There's enough students to possibly overrun the terrorists, but most, if not all of us, would die. You seem to be overlooking that. They're organized, they have weapons, they have armor, they know where we are. We have nothing but what's in our pockets. We don't even know where we are or what they have in store for us."

Gale then looks over at Lilith. "There are only eight beds. There are more than eight people in this room. I've slept in worse conditions than this. I figure let someone else use the bed I would use."

"I'm not asking you to charge down terrorists in some courageous final stand. I'm asking you to not give up on yourselves, do not give in to despair. When the school was first attacked, I had nothing. I used my head and outsmarted these men. They are not organized. Ian is organized, the rest of them are just mindless followers. I'm not saying this isn't going to take every ounce of skill and cunning we have. I just don't want to see any here give up because the odds look piss poor."

(There are twelve xD four rows of bunk beds and they're triple decker beds)

Lilith looked at Jethro more closely and sighed in defeat,"You're right, but chose your words here careful. They listen to us, I know it." She then sat up in bed again,"Hey Jethro...um if you don't mind me asking...what is Ian like? I can't read him and you've spent more time with him than anyone here...I want to know, is he capable of torture without caring? Is he as sadistic as Max seemed?" She had wanted to ask this for a while but only just felt okay enough to go ahead and ask.

Jethro sighed,

"I'm not going to lie to you. Yes, Max was cold hearted and intelligent. When you compare the two, Ian is much worse. He's cunning, intelligent and organized. He is military, former Special Forces. Based on that assualt rifle he carries, I'd have to say Russian. Which means the Spetnaz. Is he against torture, probably not. However, he is also not one to waste energy. He won't torture us unless there is something to be gained from it. Right now, I don't see what they could gain from it. I fought Ian, he is tough, very tough. However, not impenetrable."

Max sighs and sits back down, pulling her watch face back out of her pocket. She rolls it around in her hand, half listening to everyone babble on at this point. To Max it felt like information was just getting repeated and it didn't change anything. She examined the watch in her hand again feeling comfort in it's familiarity.

Lilith smiled softly,"In an odd way that's comforting. Thank you, I may actually sleep now," she told him before snuggling up under the rough blanket. She shut her eyes and began to drift off. There was some relief in knowing that she wouldn't be dragged out of her bed in her sleep. Max had seemed vicious, like he enjoyed the thought of picking apart a person. If what Jethro said was true, then this Ian guy would not be one to harm just for the fun of it. As long as he stayed in control, she would not have a worry about it. The men working for him, on the other hand, could be dangerous out of control. She just hoped that Ian kept tight control over them, after all, there were a lot of vulnerable people here. She fell asleep calmly, dropping her guard comfortably as she slept. Her breath was even and she looked at peace.

Anna listened to Jethro’s speech, hugging her knees in the corner. She wished she at least had her katana. It may not have been the most useful weapon, but with it she felt protected, safe. Now she was jet scared. The police would not know they were there, nor would their parents. They would likely assume that all of them were dead, and if they did work out that they weren’t, possibly through their bodies not being found, there would be absolutely no way to guess, or work out their location. She wanted to cry, but she kept up her neutral expression.

(I changed my post cause I dislike the first one)

Sage stayed in the corner next to Anna silently and brought his knees to his chest as he glanced around the room and thought of ways to torture Ian and Max brutally if he ever got the chance. He was secretly afraid of what both of them would do to him in the back of his mind but he locked it away. He knew they wouldn't kill him unless they wanted multiple kingdoms on their tail , but there was a chance they could be bold enough to do it.

He hugged his knees tighter at the thought and gritted his teeth. He wanted to get out of there so badly , he could take it. As the fear began to surface , he shuddered violently as he realised just how afraid he was. He just wanted to get home and never leave again. He couldn't lock away the fear that he was hiding all along anymore.

"Get some rest guys. We will talk about this later." Jethro said, he himself was not ready for bed so he just sat, leaning against a wall. His mind raced with the day's events as he thought over each and every detail. So, Ian was the one really in charge. He had allowed Max to think he was in charge right up until he killed Max in cold blood.

Anna chose the top bunk, closest to the left wall. She didn’t bother to get changed, and even if she wanted to she had no more clothes. She missed her music, which she always listened to while sleeping, and Alaska’s comforting warmth on the end of the bed. She was probably dead now, killed by their kidnappers. She allowed a sob to escape her, but covered her mouth with her hand to muffle the sound. She didn’t want to be seen as weak. She knew that if her mother was watching over her, and she saw her crying, she would be ashamed.

Sage truged over to the closest bed near him and plopped down on. He pulled the covers over him and curled up into a ball. He kept trembling as a tear rolled down his cheek.

Max climbed to her feet and walked over to Jethro once again. She sat down next to him. "I take it you want to lead our band of spoiled misfits." She continues to stare at her watch as she rolls it around in her hand "Do you really think we have a chance? and please don't lie to me because you think I'm fragile or will break. Do you really, honestly see us making it through this? Being strong enough to deal with whatever they throw at us and make it out?" She looks up from her hands to him waiting for his answer. Her expression calm, but there was a hint of fear behind her eyes.

"I don't see myself as the leader at all. As far as making it out of here, well I think our chances are completely up to us. I mean, our chances are slim to none if we all just give up and let them win. Remember, that at one point, our parents were just like us. Mere teenagers trying to find their way in the world. The difference between them and us is that they chose to act. They chose to become something more and they all did. We have power, we have potential. I guess what matters is how we use it." Jethro replied, not quite looking at Max, his eyes fixed on the opposite wall, as if he were looking through it at something beyond.

@Phil

Max sighs and follows Jethro's gaze "yea, well. I'm not like my mom and I hope I never am." She looks at the wall and examines it trying to figure out what he is seeing. She gives up when she notices it was probably something in his head and turns back to him. "I was never planning on giving up."
