Royce Medellin

"Roy"

General Information
Date of Birth: 11/3/4001
Gender: Male
Blood Type: AB-
Appearance:
Height: 5'7"
Weight: 150 lbs.
Eyes: Blue
Hair Color/Style: Brown, Longer, messy
Body Build: Ectomorph (Light Build)
Skin: Caucasian
Tattoos/Marks/Scars: Two slashes from the claws of a bear, diagonal. One runs from the left collarbone down to the right rib-cage, and the other runs from the lower-left rib-cage to under the abdomen. There are also three scars on his face; one on each cheek, and one across his nose. He wears three bandages at all times to hide the scars on his face, because he considers them to be gross imperfections that make him hideous.
Champion Record
Rank: C (Kills: 100)
Kill Count: 112
Primary Power: Aura Manipulation
Limitations (W/O Nectar): 1) – The cool down period between aura switching is two posts (Ten minutes). 2) The time limit to use any aura is reduced to one post (Three minutes).
Limitations (W/ Nectar): 1) – Cool down period between aura switching is one post (Three minutes). 2) The time limit to use any aura is lengthened to two posts (Ten minutes).
Drawbacks: 1) Use of the line causes two things to happen to Royce’s body. The more he uses the line, the more it physically strains him during combat. In addition to this, usage of the line causes Royce to become physically sick immediately after use. 2) Due to the fact that he generally avoids using the line, his body overreacts to its effects for up to a day after use.
Armor/Suit: Royce uses an exoskeleton which is powered by a system of hydraulics, which primarily deliver energy to each one of his limbs. The use of the exoskeleton allows a significant boost in both strength and speed. The exoskeleton starts from a small piece of technology that appears to be a small backpack. Out of that, the technology molds to the frame of the human body, from the head to the feet. It is not a suit in the traditional sense; it does not cover the entirety of Royce’s body. Just the outer-part of his limbs. The whole front part of his body is untouched. When Royce puts on his headphones, it effectively blocks out all sound; allowing him to focus more on his powers and manifest them with more ease. This is more common practice by muscle memory rather than done for useful means. The headset also works as a way to communicate with his teammate(s).
Support Tech: N/A
Weapons: A sniper rifle and a sword. The sniper is holstered on his back, while his sword is sheathed by his left leg.

Side effects are generally moderate and may include but are not limited to: Side effects are generally moderate and may include but are not limited to: Hair turns white. Physical strain on the body to the point that he is physically sick afterwards, every time. No matter what Royce does, his body remains rather thin. He cannot eat to bulk up, or exercise to bulk up. Usage of the line has cursed him with a metabolism which will eventually eat him alive if he does not consume a certain amount of calories throughout any given day. Usage of the line also makes it extremely difficult for him to sleep, along with an increasing sense of permanent paranoia. Use of ‘the line’ is causing Royce to become an angry person, opposite of his natural persona. Royce is not noticing the severity of the impact in which using the line is causing him. Not only is over-usage of his power shortening his life slowly, but as the use of the drug continues, his personality grows slightly colder.
History
Royce was born to two parents, who were completely and utterly in love. Not married at the time, the two raised him out of wedlock for a number of years before getting enough money to tie the knot. Royce’s father was an inventor and his mother was disabled due to a car accident which had left her legs paralyzed, when Royce was only an infant. She was not able to work, so the family remained poor for quite some time. At birth, Royce was not expected to live past infancy. When he reached five years old, his parents were told he would not live past ten. At fifteen, he was a smaller stature than most his age; something that rang true his whole life. Rather than letting it keep him down, Royce used it to his advantage. At least he was quick, and he had quite a knack for technology. In the middle of his teenage years, Royce’s father gifted him an exoskeleton – and passed down a sword that his grandfather had used to slay monsters. The teen immediately began training with the suit, which was when he learned that he had powers. After prematurely engaging a monster with the exoskeleton and the sword he was gifted from his grandfather, anxiety and fear of death had saved him when it manifested in the form of an aura construct – yellow in color. Of course, it had only been discovered after his hyper-endurance power had been tested. The scars on Royce’s torso were from the fight with that same bear… Or, what once was a bear. The boy trained in Arcadia, grew in Arcadia, and fights for Arcadia at twenty years old. He is pretty popular, and his parents no longer have to worry about money.

Aura Manipulation Explained
There are seven different auras, each with their own unique attributes and colors.
Red: Enhanced condition. Speed and strength at max efficiency achieved to the maximum point in which the body would allow it. Orange: Surfaces during moments of extreme emotion. It is a personal affliction more than anything else. Yellow: Aura generation (constructs), weapon infusion. Green: Healing. The bigger the problem, the longer it takes to heal. Massive trauma can result in the user going into a coma for an undetermined amount of time. Blue: Combat perception, enhanced intelligence. Indigo: Mental communication through touch. Violet: Aura reading, illusion awareness.
Kundalini is the trump card. All of the auras could be used at once, for an extremely limited amount of time (let's say, one post). It's triggered under moments of extreme trauma. Leaves the character in a coma, for two posts worth of time. Each time Kundalini is accessed, it causes extreme trauma to the body and significantly shortens the overall length of life. This would obviously only be used if escape seems impossible.
Hyper Endurance Explained
Overall, Royce takes a reduced amount of damage from normal actions which would usually hurt a person. He could still feel all the pain inflicted onto his body. When using the line, monsters actually hurt themselves when striking Royce with blunt force due to the increased density of his bones.

What about radiation? I mean it's related but it's not entirely the same correct? If not I could always change it to electrical currents for electricity. @Shura

Shura, this has a lot of potential and sci-fi appeals to me. However, i'm a bit hestiate about reserving a character as every RP i've been in(group wise) can be too quick for me to keep up. Will this be a fast paced RP or a roleplay that requires everyone to post and the pace is controlled by the GM?

@Shura , I fixed all the stuff on my character sheet that you wanted me to fix. ONE QUESTION THOUGH, what is the social traits thing about? if I can just get that down i'm finished with my character sheet.

@Phantom King radiation is free to choose

@TheRoleplayingDovah - I have no idea how fast the rp is going to be. By the shear size of people I have interested the post count will probably go up quickly. But in terms of how fast events with in the rp move it might not move quickly at all. The rp is built a little disjointed so not everyone has to be in a huge group doing the same thing. I guess the best way to put it is this turnin out to be a bit of a sand box where You can have your character doing stuff on their own or in a small team. There will be a few events that will effect everyone but those will be announced ahead of time.

@PixelScoreMC cool I'll check it out, if you click the link social traits are under the table social endowments

@Shura , in the first main post it said there will be a page that you'll enter all the character info into and it'll do the work for you. Are you releasing that when you release the RP?

The program is done but there are a few glitches with the coding. A small mi

Error that throws everything off. It will be made avaliable once it's fixed.

Look better pixl, just know that even a half dose will cause side infects an he should have some permanent effects after because of how much he yakes. So hallucinations will happen every so often and whatnot

History: Caleb had always enjoyed watching the champion battles with his father. They had to watch any battle they could they were both exciting and Caleb's uncle was a gladiator. Caleb's watched as his uncle's kill count increased at a steady rate and his fame had been quickly increasing per match. Eventually the effects of Nectar had effected his performance in battle and he was attacked from behind by a large creature which broke his spine leaving him paralyzed from the waist down.

This had shocked Caleb and devastated his father but it also meant his uncle could no longer participate and could regain his sanity. Caleb spent most of his time with his uncle who had endlessly ranted about the disappointment he was to his fans. This had left an idea in Caleb's young mind that if he could become a gladiator and join the S rank then he could help his uncle feel as if he had achieved it through Caleb.

Caleb tried his hardest on the tests and had even been in the top 5% of his class. He showed his mettle on his first hunt and passed with flying colors, though during the time spent using Nectar his mental stability has become in question and Caleb's once bright vibrant personality is rapidly chaining. His uncle died when Caleb was only 3 years into his career as a gladiator and it had snapped what little bit of Caleb had remained. His personality is now completely different from what it had once been.

Question

The more I have developed this RP the more complicated and amazing it seems. However I do have an idea I wanted to run by you guys before I put more thought into it. Due to the RP revolving around line, fighting and sanity I want to purpose a Sanity State System.

A simple system that would add and subtract point to your sanity meter in based on the events of the RP. As you loss your mental stability your character will have to deal with more and more side effects from the drug. On the other side there will be methods of regaining your sanity. The system wouldn't be complicated or hard to follow simple addition and subtraction. I know stats scare some people off which is why I'm asking.

Would you guys still be interested in this RP if I implemented this system?

Also I managed to finish this:

Nectar

AKA: Line

Highly Addictive Substance

Drug Information
Class: Antilimiting Stimulant
Dosage: 1 vial = 1 dose. A normal dose is 20mg with in a 1 5ml solution. Route: I.V.
Duration: Onset = 15 minutes, Effective Duration = 1 hr, Cool down= 30 mins
Effects: Provides a rush of various Neurotransmitter and hormones which cause enhancements in awareness, endurance, reflexes and strength. It can also cause a euphoric and hyperactive state of mind. This drug also has the ability to give the user a temporary state of nearly unrestricted use of their ability.
Side effects may include Physical : increased heart rate and blood pressure, heart arrhythmia, restlessness, twitching, dulled tactile sense, blurred vision, headaches, dizziness, nausea, faintness, seizures, slurred speech Psychological : Anxiety, decreased apatite, insomnia, delusions, false sense of well-being, hallucinations
Long Term Complications: Generalized anxiety disorder, panic disorder, increased metabolism, loss of memory, decreased coordination, hypertension, decreased attention span, permanent muscle twitches/ ticks, hallucination (auditory/ visual), manic depression, delusional disorder, schizophrenia
Overdose: In the event of an over dose the user will experienced extremely fast and irregular heartbeat, extremely high blood pressure, bleeding from ears, eyes and possibly an aneurism, muscle cramps, seizure, foaming at the mouth and inevitably death
Availability: Due to the sever effects of this drug it is only available for Champions. Champions are prescribed Nectar by an on site physician three days after a hunt. This is so the drugs effects can be closely monitored and managed. There are dealers who manage to get Nectar or create knock off's of the drug to sell to anyone for a much higher price. There is also rumors of something stronger than Nectar starting to circulate.
Antidote: Neibma (Sedative, hypnotic)

Lol I will I will I'm still working on the RP information. XP What do you think of implementing a mental stat system?

I think it's a great addition. Adding too many more things in addition to it could cause a bit of overcrowding however, so just be sure to find that nice balance... Just a thought!

Eh it woulsnt need anything on the character sheet. I figure it would be something monitored on a notes page or something.

Have you addressed Technology or shall I intelligently monitor my own technology limitations to prevent overpowering of my character and give you side notes for further limitations to keep things from getting out of hand?

I haven't quiet solved it yet. I'm still developing it. ATM I reasoned it would be irresponsible for someone suffering from mental instability to have access to super advance and destructive technology. So while the possibility might be there Champion are not allowed to use OP equipment it under the effects of the drug given how powerful they already are.

Appearance

Height:
6'9"

Weight: 210 pounds

Eyes: A very expressive Slate Grey color.

Hair Color/Style: His hair is a very dark sandy blonde, that almost looks brown, unless in direct sunlight. His hair is not spiky naturally, and requires Jekyl to gel it up each morning to keep up the hairstyle he thinks "defines" his current life. He also likes the way it looks.

Body Build: Ectomorph. His slight build and lanky appearance betrays developed muscles from fighting all the time. Has no obvious physical mutations, except the texture of his skin feels artificial and non-human.

Skin: Caucasian

Tattoos/Marks/Scars: No Tattoos, No Marks, however, he does have a multitude of scars on his chest and back from where he was cut, his ability not having an immunity to sharp weapons.

Champion Record

Experience:
3 Years

Kill Count: 169 Kills

Primary Power: Due to Jekyll's power, his body is permanently made up a substance scientists are only able to identify as Rubber. With this Rubber Physiology, Jekyll seems to rely on gaining momentum and velocity through grappling onto things around him, before using the momentum to deliver crushing blows to his offenders, a method with intensified success when coupled with his secondary power.

Jekyll has also developed a distinct immunity against blunt attacks, the attacks requiring much more force to make it past the natural defense his Rubber Body provides.

Limitations: (No line):

-Any drops in temperature can momentarily leave Jekyll completely defenseless, his entire body frozen as his malleable body tries to move the chilled appendages. This gives people with ice focused powers or temperature focused powers and advantage over him. He also has a severe disability in cold climates, and is useless in them.

-Without the use of line, Jekyll's body cannot stretch for long distances without pain, the farthest being around 3 feet for any one of his appendages. Assigned Scientists have theorized that forceful stretching of Jekyll without the presence of Nectar in his system would most likely tear off his limbs, the molecular bonds existing between the rubber particles not strong enough to support such extreme stimuli.

Limitations: (With Line):

-Drops in temperature, instead of completely disabling Jekyll, merely make him slower than usual, but still severely limit his ability to stretch safely. He is still quite useless in cold climates and environments and is advised to not send him out when blizzards are present.

-While his stretching ability has a significant increase in capable distance, Jekyll's body still has limits that have yet to be found, but are currently being looked for under his own request (demand). At the moment, under very rigorous personal testing, we have come to the shaky conclusion that his limit is around Two Miles. This is still under watch, and will be reviewed once new information comes to fruition.

Drawbacks:

-We have learned that Jekyll's body does get relapses from long stretches, the leftover kinetic energy gained from the distance redirecting into his inner body, sometimes damaging important organs and bursting capillaries, prompting multiple warnings on going to too far with his ability.

-Due to the rather unorthodox material of his skin, and the rate at which he moves under the influence of Nectar, Jekyll has a tendency to come out of fights with self-inflicted friction marks from where his rubber skin has rubbed together and created too much friction. His body also has a tendency to need more food after using Nectar due to the significant increase of his Metabolism.

Secondary Power: At first subtle, and unknown, even to Jekyll, it was eventually discovered that Jekyll possessed a secondary power that had been amping up the impact of his attacks. Apparently, Jekyll is able to condense the portions of the rubber making up his body into something similar to the texture of a default human body, however these condensed portions are harder than steel and significantly increase the damage taken by the target.

Limitations: (No line): (List 2)

-Without the presence of Nectar, we have observed that it takes up to 5 minutes of preparation for Jekyll to get his rubber to condense into the desired finished product. This severely dampens the efficiency of such an ability.

-During one of our tests, one of the more physical variety, we found that Jekyll's condensed rubber does not possess the same impenetrable properties that it does when boosted by the effects of Nectar. Through the test we were able to gather that a well sharpened knife could penetrate the condensed rubber if applied with enough force and precision.

Limitations: (With Line):

-Even with the presence of Nectar, we have found that it still takes up to a minute for Jekyll to completely condense the selected portion of rubber, giving Jekyll a reliance on foresight on what he will need with a fight.

-While its properties are much more durable with Nectar, there is a new problem of the effects of keeping the separate rubber particles, bound together so strongly. The advanced process takes a lot of energy, and has side effects on Jekyll such as increased food consumption, and bouts of fatigue.

Drawbacks:

-If the condensed rubber happens to be damaged in some way, either with or without Nectar, the wound will be much more drastic than it usually would and even simple wounds can cause lasting damaged that takes increased amounts of time to heal.

Armor/Suit:

Wears a light malleable chest plate that is made from a special kevlar material.

Support Tech:

While we have suggested it strongly, Jekyll does not particularly use technology, however, we have gotten him rather hooked on using two specific types of grenades.

Weapons:

Jekyll has been known to forgo the use of more orthodox weapons, and instead use his bare hands along side the grenades in which he carries around.

Misc. Items:

The two variations of Grenades used by Jekyll.

-The first one was, at first, a prototype we had made for another Champion, but was given to Jekyll as a trial after the Champion it was made for became F level. Looking like a perfect small purple ball, no imperfections except the tiny pin on the top of it that you pull, the grenade, after being pulled, will detonate on impact with a sufficient source of force. After detonation, the grenade explodes and should release a small amount amount of a white soapy looking foam, that, while looking harmless, will quickly solidify into a very hard material that has the potential to incapacitate most small prey or slow them down.

-The second one was a more standard issue grenade, its type had the capability to cause a short electronic burst, that, while not causing enough to damage to be fatal, does cause problems with electronic devices, and has a tendency to slow down organisms affected by it. However, if someone is hit by multiple bursts of the energy, by way of multiple grenades, the resulting electricity can be enough to affect the organism in a more fatal manner, depending on the amount used, and what it is used on.

History:

Born to a Middle Class family in a rural area, Jekyll grew up with very caring parents, up until he hit the age of 5. Use to the life of an only child, enjoying the amount of privilege that with the solo job of being the son of two parents who loved him dearly, Jekyll was quite thrown when he was suddenly the Big Brother of a little girl named Hyden, pronounced “Hayden” his mother would always say, but Jekyll didn't care.

Hyden was a constant remembrance that his parents, whom he had gave his love to for his entire life, had betrayed him and split the love he had originally possessed, giving one portion of it to Hyden. Even as he grew up, reaching ages of 6 and 7, Jekyll was never able to love the snot nosed little brat that would constantly call him “Jey-Jey” because she couldn't fully say his name.

His parents found it cute, but Jekyll found it annoying, extremely so. As he got angrier and angrier at his parents, Jekyll began to push them away, leaving them no easy choice other than to just slowly forget about him. Jekyll spent many nights regretting what he had done, looking at what his ill mannered approach to the subject had caused. For a short time, he tried to be better, tried to be a good boy, however these attempts were in vain, as his parents were no too deeply invested in the life and “cuteness”.

Giving up the act, Jekyll resorted to hide in the shadow of his sister's greatness, concealing his good grades and other achievements under the mattress of his bed. Yet, in this shadow, jealousy grew deep within Jekyll as he observed the way his parents gifted Hyden with the same stuff he had bee gifted with at her age. In envious rage, one night Jekyll went downstairs and stole one of Hyden's toys, hiding under all of his in the chest of his closet. Resisting the urge to wilt under interrogation from his parents, Jekyll had been surprised at how good he felt when he had successfully stolen her toy. Over the years, he continued to steal her toys, developing a habit of doing even without noticing.

When he hit the age of 10, Hyden being 5, he had had enough of his parent's devotion when it came to his little sister. Getting sick and tired of the favoritism and neglect, Jekyll packed his bags, bringing warm clothes, and headed off into the streets, unknowing of how his parents took notice of his absence. At first, Jekyll had found himself quite at a disadvantage in the streets, but he made up with this lack of experience in social ability. Able to endear himself to others easily, Jekyll was filled with a constant envy towards the possessions of those above him, sometimes only in monetary value, others in a more literal manner.

Taking to thievery, Jekyll stole many small things in his time on the street, including small gadgets, money, and even food from some of the rare open air market stalls that littered the downtown during festivals and early mornings. Over time, a group of street urchins gathered around Jekyll's prosperity and silver tongue, becoming a band that slowly grew in power, until Jekyll realized there was no one to rival on his small part of the town.

Feeling confident, Jekyll began planning something different then what his usual plans were. Instead of a small misdemeanor or crime, Jekyll , along with his crew, attempted to rob a store with guns they had gathered over the years. However, even with his careful planning, Jekyll did not succeed and was arrested by the cops. Luckily, since he was only twelve by that point, Jekyll was placed in a correctional facility, where they posted a plethora of propaganda of how becoming a Champion was the best way to serve Arcadia.

Emboldened by the Brainwash-like way the Facility planted the propaganda, Jekyll made it his dream to become one of the best Champions out there. Working hard for the next year, Jekyll ran into a problem when he came in as the second runner up for the top spot in the small academical system the Correctional Facility was running. Only the top student would be allowed the chance to go and sign up for the Champion Academy, and there was only one test left in the year.

Filled with desperation, and feeling that his rightful privilege was once again going to be taken away, Jekyll sneaked into the Wardens Office in the middle of the night and stole the answers to the test. Instead of reading it himself, Jekyll stuck it into the top student's room in a very obvious spot, before returning to his own room. Jekyll was a shoo in for the spot after the answers were found, incriminating the Top Student and giving him an automatic 0%.

Successfully getting into the Champion Academy, Jekyll quickly rose through the social and official ranks of his age group. Over the years in the Academy, Jekyll's jealousy had declined a bit, his mind at peace with the knowledge of just being a Champion one day. However, this peace wore off the day Jekyll was introduced to the enhancing aspects of Nectar. From the start, the drug had made his mind have a feeling of acuteness and paranoia, increasing the amount of time in which how would look at people.

With this observation, Jekyll began to see how the people around him had such great objects that didn't belong to him, like jewelry, and games, and books. He began to want them all merely for the fact that he didn't have them. So, for the rest of his time at the Champion Academy, he began stealing things, small at first and rather rare, but as his comfort grew, so did the time between each thievery decrease. He had become the epitome of kleptomaniac without even noticing.

Sounds reasonable. To a point. I'll have to discuss it with you in further detail tonight.

@Shura I had an idea for a character, but I'm not sure if this would be acceptable. Basically, he will have been a heavy user of Line since he was a child, developing a split personality due to his schizophrenia. When under the effects of Line, this personality becomes dominant, but he is otherwise somewhat sane. The reasoning behind this would be that he has not been using the drug for a long time, but the effects still linger.

I don't think that will work quite as well. You can have a family history of Schizophrenia and Dissociative Identity Disorder. So the risk for mental illness is there. He could have lied about his mental history when applying to become a Champion and when he started using Line during training it caused his mental disorders to surface. The trigger for his D.I.D. could be the use of line where his more manic side takes over. Otherwise he suffers from less intense side effects like mild hallucinations, twitching, high heart rate, etc.

That's what I had in mind, except for the family history bit. I'm really bad when it comes to explaining things like this...
