Endearing Misanthrope
- Miguel O'Hara - Mewnisse
"Can, and most certainly will do it again for as long as he's allowed to," Miguel responded to Cynthia grimly, taking careful movements every step of the way. Given that he didn't exactly have Spider-Sense the same way the others like him did, he had to be even more careful than them. Damn, I guess that's one way Parker has me beat, the masked hero thought to himself dryly. At least Reiley and Stacy were here, if nothing else. Not that Miguel intended to be outshone by either of them. A spider's gotta pull their fair share after all.
There was truly no understating how dangerous Carnage was, even from the point of view as Miguel himself who had even had to admit his own Venom didn't come close to the sheer psychotic nature of Cassidy, the same way someone from the early 21st century would look back upon the likes of Dahmer or Gacy. In any case, it didn't bear need to repeat anything, so Miguel only gave a silent nod and continued following along with Reiley and the rest of the group.
The sooner they could track down this psycho, the better.
Thepotatogod Phantom Thief of Hearts Count Gensokyo Bixir - Rin Tohsaka and Saber - Library
"Fate...?!" Rin blinked as the doctor's calm and collected demeanor quickly turned to agitation as he seemed to sense the coming presence of Klarion itself. Just as Artoria did in that moment, Rin tensed up as a natural reaction to the sorcerer's sense of alert, and as he just as abruptly ventured off to track down Klarion, not even Saber could fathom the speeds at which he moved. It truly felt like he was in a completely different league than the rest of them, which only made Rin all the more apprehensive about their chances against the enemy, but Saber -- staunch as ever like the valiant knight she was -- remained steadfast and vigilant, never wavering for a second.
The void that Fate left in his wake however was quickly filled up once more as another figure seemed to appear right in his stead. Certainly, Rin and Saber were taken aback by the violent tremors in the room that caused the sensitive artifacts to shudder, some of them practically quivering in fear while the weapons began flying toward them. Without missing a beat, clutching her sword still sheathed in Invisible Air, Saber let out a fierce battle cry before easily swinging at whatever weapons came flying toward her and the others, deflecting or even cutting through them with the skill that one would come to expect from a seasoned swordsman like herself, before...
"Saber, behind you!" Rin cried out suddenly as she noticed the armor stirred to life. Not that she had much need to, given Saber's Intuition skill. Just as briskly as she'd taken care of the flying weapons, the Servant spun around and swung her sword to catch the armor's coming strike.
Though the design of the armor meant nothing to Rin in that moment, it didn't take long at all for Artoria to identify what it was supposed to be. A swell of fire boiled in her body as Artoria gazed upon the armor that, without question, belonged to Mordred, the Knight of Treachery. She paused just for a moment to gaze upon the armor that has haunted the final moments of her life, but such a moment felt like an eternity to the King of Knights. A flurry of emotions hit her all at once, but that moment of pause gave her all the clarity she needed. It gave her enough time to realize that inside was not the Mordred she knew. There was nothing inside. A lingering will of something else entirely. It assuaged Saber's fears slightly, but the mere sight of the armor was still more than enough to stir emotions within her that even the likes of Gilgamesh was never able to.
"G-Ggngh...! You...!" Artoria said to the empty armor through tightly gritted teeth as she fended off the entity's attacks, wildly swinging her invisible sword at staggering speeds to fend off the armor. This armor that had haunted her dreams for so long. This armor that symbolized her fears, her failures. The sum of her hubris. There was a time for guilt, for quiet, pensive reflection, but now was not that time. In this heated moment, those memories only stirred anger in her. The presence and animation of this armor was like a pointed taunt, like someone was mocking her, and the king, adorned with the pride of a lion, would not stand for that if it was the last thing she'd do.
"I've had... enough of you!" The Saber-class exclaimed, the calm in her making way for the coming storm as she feinted left, before bringing her sword back to deliver a wide and powerful right swing toward the armor in an attempt to put it down!
