Nation Building BeckonCall's Fantasy Nation-building RPG thread

If you feel like you're late for the party, you could see if you can convince the Attolians to press the attack with you... but I hope you guys would have clear objectives and strategies for your involvement. :D

Well, it might be an AMBITIOUS plan (assuming that you got Attolian support) you would have: Maeder, 1 Heavy Cavalry, 10 countrymen, and 5 Attolian Soldiers -- to fight through an unfamiliar wood, to (which settlement? The gnolls? The Mask folk?) and provided you fought through the wood successfully, with those troops destroy one (or both?) of the settlements?

You've got full agency, just make sure I know what the goals are so I can do a fair job of processing! xD

I'm sure you can think of something brilliant, or just embrace that the terrain did not favor a frontal assualt. If you didn't have a missile weapon, you were likely a loser in this fight -- ask Orm, or ask the Gnolls. xD

Combined arms is a tried and true doctrine of warfare -- if you have different types, or more versatile troops, you will doubtless have more to do in different situations. If the Gnolls had charged the bridge, there is little doubt your countrymen would have conducted themselves admirably.

When I try to process a battle, I will generally have a plan in mind for the enemy, and consider that against the plan and/or placement of the players units -- as I imagine them probably if not otherwise explicitly stated by the player. Your units were part of the tapestry, even if in your estimation they did not particularly shine... xD

Your troops scent is still masked by the elves, if that tips any scales... discretion might be the better part of valor though!

they might want to ask someone what the hell is going on. I don't know if they got a good look or if your guys have even seen gnolls before depnding on their lore.

@Beckoncall I already edited in the added wealth and casualties into my sheet.

And yeah while we're on that... You! You can't just go around here giving people feels over freshly named NPCs! I even dared to get my hopes up with this guy I thought "Well he's got some of the best healers helping him right now, plus he's tough. Look at Rahg, he practically got eviscerated on the trip over here and he's doing better than ever."

And if he'd died all bloodily I could have handled it, I was expecting it. But then he goes and has a sweet peaceful death and some touching last words to his kids!

Those are some serious feels to wake up to on a working day!

Attention to detail is a sticky wicket, sir...

To give you a glimpse into my psyche, I was thinking about dosages of sleep poison after Belanor's elf was knocked right out, and it got me thinking of how much sleep poison it would take to register to a Minotaur... especially an angry one in a high state of arousal. Mirgirak was a victim of his own constitution -- a lesser being would have been napping in the grass before they got shot that many times... After a bit of playful maths I blanched, considering even if a Tyren could be expected to need 5 (or more) times the amount of anesthetic to sleep a human, he had received a multiple of that.

If it is of any consolation, I had my hopes for a high roll when making his saving throw... though now that I see the impact story-wise I really probably shouldn't have. xD

Best wishes on a productive day, "Great Chief."

Not trying to rush you or anything but just wondering when you'll have a reaction up for the Winterborn?

@Leusis

I'm VERY glad you asked... I was wondering if you were expecting a give-and-take with your advisors, but there was also much inspirational speech -- so I was not sure how much of that discussion was in-house, or to what extent I was called upon to put forward their solicited advice -- AS SUCH, I think it's a REALLY GOOD MECHANISM that we have in play already that if there is an action you specifically are seeking process (I'll likely jump and process stuff anyway) but if your intention is to trigger my posting -- as has been done in lot of other posts put a "SUMMARY" ie:

"Belanor Holds a council of the Winterborn, to hear their views on the threat the Gnolls pose and how best to proceed.

or

Belanor holds a council of the Winterborn to remind them that the gnolls are complete bastards, and if they have anything to say about that."

Edit the post with ANY actions you want processed and I'll be all over it. I have some backstage stuff to see about on-ramping a high elf player... after which the next person to on-board (and likely the last unless somebody drops out, god forbid) being your brother... I told myself I would only add another player after the high elves if they had a kickass concept as were obviously sharp as a tack. Your brother's concept is cool, and he made an impression. Since I'm not SUFFERING with the pace so far (Though if @General Deth Glitch and @The Elusive Shadow were posting as much as I'd expect maybe I would be) We might just be able to get away with it. Worst case scenario, you guys will have to team up on endeavors you are collectively interested in so I don't have to write posts for 5 different areas each turn... (the war on the river was a great example of this though, I think, or at least the direction it could go in.)

Again, Just clarify explicitly what you'd like processed in the summary, then I can make sure the pertinent info reflected in the post will be used, and I can be sure I'm posting a representative reaction to a move or dialogue you instigate. <3

When you put it in a command summary, I know that you expect something to happen and have a distinct objective in mind!

I will GENERALLY process actions in the order they are posted, unless continuity dictates otherwise, so YEAH -- if you ever think I blazed past a declared action of yours, CITE ME! I'll get on it! xD

EDIT: I read and re-read the post... but I'm not certain exactly what kind of reaction you were trying to elicit, or question you asked of them.

Also, I do believe it was indicated that your advisors might be a bit more tight-lipped, especially if their counsel was not directly solicited.

I'm also revamping the map to add more recent discoveries... I think I'll post a new map at the start of each season... so when fall begins the map will be updated, and so on...

I was wanting their reaction to what was said to them. Considering half of them were against war I kind of expected some kind of "No that's still not a good idea" or a "Alright fine, we agree" type of thing. I don't know if that would be necessary or not.

You sir were able to actually light a fire in my stomach with that post, and I'm just playing a character. I'm starting to understand why a lot of races think elves are assholes lol.
