Fandom Beast Boy and Raven (Closed)

Garfield put his arms on the table folded over each other and laid his face on them, covering everything from the upper lip down. He knew what he said was unfair to Starfire but just wanted his friends to be together again. Something inside of him felt off when he first heard about what was said from Rachel. An anger that was incorrectly placed in sadness’s stead.

His attention was drawn to the floating green crayon Rachel had taken from the box he was using. Black magic surrounded the waxy writing utensil as it went towards her face, transferring color from the crayon to her skin. He couldn’t help but smile into his arms before putting his head down. He did have her and that much he was grateful for.

Garfield sat up and reached forward, using his index finger to wipe off some green from her cheek. “I totally like you the way you are so no green necessary..” He said with a soft smile. The gesture alone was enough to make his heart melt a little but a small twang in the back of his mind told him that it was unnecessary and Starfire needed to be confronted. He ignored that voice for the time being and sighed simply to clear his mind.

“You know I think you’re right. We gotta chill out and give Star some time. Maybe once she sees us then maybe she’ll come back.” Garfield said with a great deal of optimism infiltrating his tone. Just after Rachel had responded The waited came back holding two mugs and a plate. She sat down the hot chocolate and gave Rachel her plate of French Toast. “Here you go and uhm sir…” Jody turned back to the kitchen and then to Garfield. “Your food will take some time to complete but we’ll have it ready in a few minutes.”

Garfield frowned at first but nodded his head. “It’s cool smells awesome from here though…” He stated trying not to stare a hole through Rachel’s food.

Rachel was touched at the gesture of wiping off some of the mess she put on her face. It was shortly replaced by embarrassment as Jody brought out her food and must have noticed her newly-shaded green face. She wiped off the rest with her napkin while Jody explained Gar’s food will take a few more minutes.

“Yeah, maybe this wasn’t the brightest idea,” she said as her napkin turned green. Deciding to give up for now, not knowing whether she got it all or not, she turned to her food and realized Gar had none.

“Shouldn’t they bring a table’s food all out at once?” She questioned with a frown. It would be rude to dig in while Gar had nothing. Rachel pushed her plate out to the center of the table.

“Here. You have some of mine, and I’ll have some of yours,” she said, taking a knife and fork to her side of the French toast.

Jody gave a polite smile and shook her head. “Since his would take slightly longer to cook it would either be your food colder or your food first. I’m terribly sorry, I’ll be sure to give you a discount on your bill.” She said before turning around heading off to another table.

Garfield chuckled and shook his head. “No its cool when you do cute stuff like that Rae.” He explained as he watched her plate moves towards the middle. He fidgeted in his seat momentarily before looking at the kitchen. “Are you sure? I wanna let you eat too.”

It wasn’t often he turned down food but Rachel in her own right must’ve been hungry after fighting a literal demon just an hour prior to their outing. Garfield unraveled his napkin and took out the fork, using the side of it like a shovel and cutting off a chunk of a slice of French Toast. He dipped it in syrup before shoving it into his mouth, humming with satisfaction.

“Man, maybe I shoulda got some French toast too!” Garfield said as he took a sip of his hot chocolate, enjoying the mix of the flavors so well. Did Rachel intentionally order these together? Something told him that she had a great palate for taste rather than what would fill her up.

“I’m sure adding one one more meal won’t overwhelm them at all,” Rachel said sarcastically, taking a small sip of her hot chocolate.

Her thoughts drifted off to Starfire again and her plight. Gar seemed upset about it, but really Rachel understood not wanting to be a hero anymore, or rather she didn’t think she could anymore. The fear of making a monumental mistake again was always prevalent. All that put aside, Starfire was still here.

“She still wants to be our friend, you know,” Rachel said. “Kory may not want to fight, but that doesn’t mean she’s gone from our lives. She’s setting up our town house paperwork as we speak. Which reminds me…” Rachel realized then that they didn’t actually talk about the house after visiting it, having been distracted by their demon issue.

“What did you think about it? I really liked the layout, and it’s conveniently placed. Do you want to go for it?”

Garfield decided to control himself when eating on Rachel’s plate and only eat one piece of French toast. Good thing he had decided on stopping because the mention of Starfire made him lose his appetite…. Metaphorically speaking of course.

He tapped his fork on the plate and stared at the syrupy strings falling from the prongs onto the plate. He wasn’t quite in the mood to talk about that situation at the moment but not talking about it wouldn’t help anything. “Maybe but I’m not calling her Kory. It’s like…weird.” Luckily in Rachel’s case he could still call her Rae with the occasional Rach.

Garfield nodded finally meeting his partner’s gaze. “It was actually pretty sweet. I like the smooth looking kitchen and they already have stuff inside? They do that?” He asked with a change in tone when they moved topics. “Do you like it too?” He asked.

Since a few minutes had passed while Tunney talked, the waitress returned with with an armful of plates for Garfield. He sat back as she laid the food in front of him. “Thanks!” He said as the waitress merely turned away with a. “Mmhmm.” Seemingly upset since Rachel previous comment.

Rachel pulled her plate back towards her side of the table as the multitude of plates Gar ordered filled up the other side. Rachel was about to thank the waitress as well, but she had already move away in a huff. Rachel shrugged and went back to her food.

"Kory said the furniture stays with the house so long as we want it," Rachel said. "I think it's everything we need, so yeah, I do like it. I told Kory to get everything set up for us, so we just need to fill out the paperwork and move in." She remembered that Gar still had a whole bunch of stuff till at his old apartment. It had been only a few days since they'd been there making a getaway from a genius gorilla, but still Rachel felt it was months ago.

"You'll be glad to have all your stuff back, I bet. We should probably go collect the rest of your things soon," She said.

Garfield was a bit more focused on his food than he wanted to admit while Rachel was still talking. He put his spoon into the mac and cheese nodding asking with her words before pulling a huge glob out of the bowl, looking as if it would topple over before stuffing it into his mouth. “Wow free stuff. This is gonna be awesome.” He said with a mouthful.

Garfield raised a brow and swallowed before tossing in another spoonful. “I dunno, maybe I should just get new stuff? I didn’t leave nothing important.” He was worried that Brain would be able to find them once again if he went back to his old apartment. That would be the worst considering the dynamic duo are just starting to get things together.

In one last spoon‘s worth Garfield devoured the large Mac and cheese without hesitation and moved in for the PB&J next. “What if we just get new stuff? I don’t care about anything I left there anyways…” He wanted to say since I got you but he paused before letting out a burp worthy of his top ten ever. “ ‘Scuse me.” He said before the PB&J was no more.

“You don’t want to collect your things?” Rachel asked, not even phased by the pace in which Gar ate his food. In a way, it was better Rachel got hers first, gave her a head start so she may be finished around the same time as him.

The loud and obnoxious burp may have ended the conversation but Rachel could sense it wasn’t just that he didn’t care about his things. “I doubt he’s putting time and effort in watching your place anymore,” she said quietly. “And even if he were, we’ll face him anyway at some point if we’re really going back to doing what we used to to do.”

She thought back to her dream from a few days ago, the part before she did whatever she did. Not all is well and fine in the Brotherhood of Evil. Luthor took over and seemingly will be capable of casting Brain out in time. Brain may no longer have the support he usually has around him, and without support, he really is just an immovable organ, incapable of doing anything except think.

“We’re more capable now of facing him. I’m not worried, and you shouldn’t be either, although I understand why you are.” She took her final bite of French toast and wipes her mouth clean. Grabbing her mug of hot chocolate, she took another sip. “But there’s no rush. We’ll wait until you’re ready. In the meantime, we’ll get our new place all settled.”

Garfield was certainly not thrilled when he understood Rachel could simply tell what he was feeling just because he was feeling it. It was pretty unfair if you asked him, like a button masher in a fighting game. You didn’t understand how it worked but it worked, even against the most skilled gamers.

The mention of Brain unnerved the green young man as he shoved a triangle of grilled cheese into his maw. “Eah aybe or ight.” Gar chewed for several moments before speaking more clearly. “Yeah maybe you’re right. We’re gonna hafta beat him up sooner or later. Smash his stupid jar.” He smiled as he shoved another triangle into his face hole.

It was nice to see that Rachel believed in their skills even if he didn’t. Well that wasn’t entirely true, he just didn’t wanna face off against Brain ever again. It made him never want to hear of the organ again in fact. “You know I don’t rush Rae.” He said only to shove the third of four grilled cheese triangles into his mouth.

It didn’t take too long before he finished all of his food only to gulp down his hot chocolate, which now was more like chocolate milk, and exhale in relief. It had felt like weeks since he last ate a full meal when it had only been three days. “You all done? I could go for a nap right about now.” Garfield said with a yawn, stretching his arms out.

Rachel rolled her eyes at him saying he doesn’t rush as he basically swallowed his grilled cheese whole. Does he even chew?

“Yeah. Let’s get out of here,” she said. They flagged down their waitress, paid the bill, and headed out of the diner.

The next few days were crazy but in the best way possible. Rachel and Gar settled all the paperwork with Kory for the Town house and started the moving in process. Both apartments were put on the market and Rachel packed away all of her things and brought them to her new room. Next step was Gar’s apartment, but they weren’t rushing on that trip.

It was a brisk winter morning, so Rachel wrapped herself up in a blanket before floating downstairs from her bedroom. She flipped on the TV in the living room and turned on the news before heading to the kitchen to make herself some morning tea.

It had become a new morning tradition since moving to the townhouse for Rachel to watch the news with her tea. She still wasn’t really one for watching shows, but they no longer had a titans alarm system. If there was something going on in the city, Rachel wanted to know. Lately, Jump City had been quiet, no sign of Luthor or the Brotherhood. She didn’t like it.

Rachel held her warm mug close to her as she got comfortable on the couch, only barely listening to the news. Nothing of interest was being shown. Stocks and sales, sports, a children’s choir singing to the mayor. She shut her eyes and sniffed her tea, allowing the heat to warm up her face.

Garfield was glad to have time where he and Rachel weren’t fighting bad guys or preparing to fight bad guys, making things quite smooth in their life. It did pick up in pace when they began financial malarkey that was way beyond his scope so he just let Star and Rae handle it, giving them his information so he could help pay for whatever with the leftover money he made from his first and latest “job”.

Gar enjoyed having a room to call his own once again, having his games, clothes and all back in their place. Unfortunately he did leave all his comics in his old apartment so there was a few missing aesthetics to the place but felt like home nonetheless. He wondered if taking the risk to get his comics and other items was as worth it as Rachel said. He could wait another lifetime if it meant not dealing with that talking organ and his gorilla companion.

He woke up with a stretch and exhaled before getting up to start his day. Garfield gave himself a look in the mirror before scrubbing his teeth briefly and spitting the excess out. He made his way out the door and to the stairs, rubbing his eyes and hearing the TV. “Morning R-“

Garfield tripped and started to fall, not opening his eyes to walk down the stairs foolishly enough. Quickly he became an armadillo and bounced down the stairs as a rolled up ball. He uncurled himself and laughed a little, embarrassment riddling his tone. “The stairs are pretty slippery” Garfield lied, slowly making his way over to the couch still in animal form.

Rachel jumped at the sudden tumbling noise if an armadillo rolling down the stairs, some of her tea spilling on her lap. She turned from the TV and watched the little green mammal make his way to the couch.

“That’s one way to make an entrance,” she commented. “Good morning to you too. Want some tea or coffee to wake you up or would you rather some ants?”

A napkin floated from the kitchen over to her and she dried the tea stain, not too concerned about it. They hadn’t been living here for long, but Rachel already thought of this place as home. She was not in the least bit concerned about her or Gar using their powers. Kory made sure there were no nosy neighbors who may wish to get to know them.

“I don’t think anyone would notice if you went outside and bit a few-“ Rachel was continuing on with her teasing when something on the news grabbed her attention.

“-storage unit behind the museum. Civilian witnesses claims that the perpetrator has what appears to be a long rope that is taking away free will. While details of the scene play out, we will show what our reporters on the scene are viewing.”

Rachel stared at the screen as Cheetah strutted out of a bland building just behind the history museum. Civilians ran away screaming as she cracked her whip, grinning widely.

“It appears she has received one of the collection items from the new Greek Mythology exhibit. Sources say this was the same item that was fought over just days ago. Why this item is so desirable is up for interpretation. The museum curator declined to comment on the matter.”

Rachel’s blood froze as she watched Cheetah on the screen, remembering what happened the last time they fought her. She stood up from the couch. “I have to stop her. Now. Gar, stay here,” she said, bringing her unfinished tea to the sink and heading to the stairs.

Garfield climbed up onto the couch as he struggled a little, tiny legs flailing. He finally achieved the desired goal and sat with his back to the couch while turning back into himself. It was nice being able to use his powers after not being able to for a short time. It was like not being able to walk for normal people.

Gar shook his head “No way, I want some berries or fruit over some bugs.” He made a face before laughing. It was pretty silly to imagine himself eating some bugs. Then again an armadillo would look fine doing it so he didn’t overthink anything as there was a bigger problem at foot.

His eyes grew wide as the spotted anthropomorphic woman eased down the stairs of the very place they first met her. “She got out? That fast!?” This was frustrating news as his hand instinctively went to his wounds caused by Cheetah.

When Rachel stood he stood as well before hearing what she said. “You think imma let you go by yourself? I’m coming too and you can’t stop me!” Garfield said going to follow his partner. It was ridiculous to think Gar would allow her to fight someone who nearly overwhelmed them both alone. He was more cautious and prepared to what Cheetah’s most dangerous assets were. Speed and poison.

Don’t let the fast poison lady touch you. Piece of cake…

Rachel glared at him as if thinking of all the ways she could stop him from going. “She nearly killed you last time,” she said. But she softened after saying that. Any villain could nearly kill him, that was the whole reason they had each other to make sure that didn’t happen.

“Fine. Fine.” Rachel portaled up to her room and in a minute came back down again in her uniform. “But you stay away from her claws, ok? Or put on a shell, ninja turtle.”

Meanwhile, outside of the museum, Cheetah was making a scene. Civilians ran screaming as she cracked her newly obtained lasso around. A security guard was caught in the crossfire, wrapped up in the rope. Cheetah walked over to him and whispered in his ear. “You work for me now, little man. Protect me as you protect your museum.”

Releasing the man from her could, he picked up his gun and shot it aimed at the sky, a warning shot. “Everybody freeze! Listen ti the queen of Jump City!”

“Ooh, Queen. A nice touch. But I am only here for two things. I have one of them, but now I need your pathetic little human help,” Cheetah said, eyeing the pedestrians who were frozen in fear in front of her.

“Where is your little protector?” She asked, stopping in front of an old man who was scared but staring defiantly at her.

“The Teen Titans are gone, young lady. We protect ourselves here in Jump City,” the man declared. Cheetah smiled at that and punched him to the ground, sending gasps across the masses.

“You’re doing a poor job of it, then,” she responded before looking for someone else to ask. “Not all of you are as blind as the old man. Where is your protector? Where is your little witch?”

Rachel had portaled herself and Gar to the top of a building close to the scene in play. She listened closely and was surprised to find that Cheetah was looking for her. Why? She got the lasso she had come for, why make the scene?

“She thinks she killed you and I’m alone. Maybe we can use that,” Rachel suggested to Gar. “We have to be very careful with her. Now she has that lasso to make people submit to her.”

He felt a bit disrespected by the fact Rachel brought that up, though not without good reason. It was as if she saw him as weak, which he was certainly not. All he knew was she needed to make up her mind if he was genuinely powerful or so weak he needed to be protected.

Garfield didn’t even say anything to Rachel as the words she said festered in his mind like an infected wound. He had forgotten that he no longer had a costume that fit him so he just headed through the portal with her, crouching down at the edge of the buildings roof. It was weird to see Cheetah not immediately run away after getting the very item she was prepared to kill him over.

He shrugged his shoulders and briefly thought about jumping down at her. Very briefly. “So what do we do? Just sit here and let her beat these people up?” Garfield asked angrily. Never has he spoke in this tone to Rachel but her and now just seeing Cheetah was getting his riled up.

“Of course not,” Rachel replied assuredly. She sensed his agitation, but she had simply attested it to the fact he was seeing Cheetah again.

“I’ll head down and distract her, then you can come up from behind and take that lasso from her. We can use it on her, just like we did last time.” Rachel looked Gar up and down. She had forgotten he didn’t have a uniform.

“Don’t let her see you in human form, ok?” She told him before phasing down into the ground.

“I’ll ask one more time before I stop being nice. Where is your witch?” Cheetah asked. She had now stepped in front of a woman with a coffee cup in hand.

“Please. My lunch hour’s almost over,” the woman begged. Cheetah laughed in the woman’s face.

“Really? That’s all you’re worried about? Here, let me help you sort your priorities.” Cheetah flexed her nails in preparation for a strike, but before she could, a black shield appeared in front of the woman. Rachel was behind the shield, ushering the civilians away.

“There you are,” Cheetah said with a wide fanged smile. “I wanted to offer my sincere condolences for your loss. I would have come to the funeral, but I was otherwise indisposed.”

“You’re going to pay for what you did,” Rachel said, not taking the bait.

“Oh, don’t worry, I will. It pays to know people who pay well,” Cheetah answered before bolting around the shield at a quicker pace. Rachel was confused by her words, and with the quick speed of the Cheetah, she didn’t have time to react, getting knocked down by the villain’s punch. Rachel quickly recovered and phased down out of Cheetah’s grasp, appearing behind her and blasting her with black discs.

Garfield rolled his eyes and grumbled as his partner melted into the ground like putty. He wondered what would be the best way to attack Cheetah with a mix of Justice and vengeance. He wanted to make her pay for what she did to him, she couldn’t just get off easy for that.

He turned into a wasp and flew around the area, knowing that no one should be able to recognize him like this. Who takes the time to look at a wasp? Garfield buzzed around watching the beginning of the fight take place waiting for an opportune moment to strike. When Cheetah turned her back to the sight of black discs Garfield landed on the ground and green kangaroo kicked the villain in the back sending her flying towards Rachel.

“You suck at stealing stuff AND killing people. Why are you even a bad guy?” Gar taunted as he hopped over to her downed body. His tone was more vicious as he held back laughter seeing the downed villain. Just as quickly as he flung her she got up to attempt another slice at the marsupial.

There was nothing to swing at as he became a wasp again, flying to a height she couldn’t reach. It seemed as if he had become more adept to changing creatures overnight, becoming a new dragon mid flight. “Look who’s too slow this time. Man I really can’t wait to do this…” The air around the dragon felt like an over as his stomach and throat became superheated.

Garfield had every intention of killing this woman without hesitation as he charged up his fire. The blast was let out, spanning wide enough to reach the entirety of the stairs of the museum. He wasn’t even worried about the safety of the civilians who luckily ran as Garfield looked amongst the flame hoping to see a burnt woman.

Rachel dodged just in time as Cheetah’s body was hurled at her. “Watch it, Beast Boy, you almost got me.” It didn’t seem like Gar heard or cared at all, his focus solely on the villain. She was also going to tell him that he was being a bit much with the taunting, but her words got caught in her throat as he grew bigger and bigger until he was, for the first ever so far as she knew, a giant fire-breathing dragon.

Her eyes widened and she instinctively took a step back along with the rest of the remaining civilians.

“Holy Hera,” Rachel hear Cheetah whisper as she scrambled backwards on her back, unable yet to stand. The air around them became heated, and Rachel understood what he was about to do.

“STOP!” Rachel held her hands out and created a huge domed-shield around herself, Cheetah, and a couple bystanders. The flames smacked against shield, but inevitably took its course elsewhere, surrounding but never penetrating. People outside of the shield were running away screaming. One person dropped to the ground and crawled.

“I surrender! Just keep that thing away from me!” Cheetah called out to Rachel.

As the flames subsided, the affected ground was scorched. Rachel lowered her shield with the flame, staring daggers as the Dragon.

“Stand down, Beast Boy. You made your point quite clear. Cheetah surrendered,” Rachel ordered.

The sound of sirens reached her ears, but Rachel did not want to look away from Gar. He was out of control right now, and she needed to get him back.

Garfield’s nose steamed as the cold air around him instantly turned to steam. He blow smoke out his nostrils and watched the fire clear only to see a black dome lower and Rachel next to Cheetah. He grew angry but the sight of the cowering villain made him chuckle.

“What’s wrong? It’s not funny?” The dragon waltzed over gracefully as if this were his kingdom he conquered. “Aren’t you gonna kill me or somethin?” Garfield shook his head towards Rachel with his mind set on one thing. Revenge.

“Why are you protecting her? She almost killed me just like you said right? I’m just doing the same.” Garfield chomped his jaws in front of them, teeth as big as their heads. The sound resembles the doors of a prison shutting but a briefer amount of time. His eyes were filled with hate as he picked Rachel up and put her away from Cheetah.

The air began to reheat once again and Garfield put his large hand on the villain’s legs so she couldn’t run anywhere. “Let’s do it for real this time.” Garfield’s chest and throat began glowing as he readied to aim a more concentrated blast at the target.

Rachel felt herself be lifted and put aside like nothing. He wasn’t listening to her anymore. His eyes were clouded with vengeance.

Cheetah scrambled under the giant dragon claw. She scratched at the nail, but not even her sharp nails could penetrate it. Poison wasn’t going to work this time.

Her face kept switching back between fear and anger. “Let me go! I surrendered. I thought you were a hero!”

Rachel looked around to see what she could do. She noticed that Cheetah had dropped her lasso. Rachel picked it up and swung it around the dragon’s leg.

“Extinguish your flame. Let her go,” Rachel said. Cheetah shut her eyes, bracing herself for impact.

Garfield felt the control of his body fade as he took his claw off of Cheetah as commanded. He looked straight up and allowed his fire to be harmlessly discharged into the sky, the pillar of flames much more condensed than the area attack he let loose previously. The dragon grumbled and took a step back before laying down on his front arms like an obedient dog.

Even with the rope around his leg, Garfield didn’t once take his clouded eyes off of Cheetah and stared at her. Once the rope was removed from him and the police arrived he grabbed Rachel and flew off into the sky without further questioning. He didn’t want to be around when the cops showed up and he also had a few words for Rachel.

Once they were far enough, Gar landed on a building and put Rachel on her feet allowing her to get her bearings. He turned back into himself and began yelling. “Why did you save her!? You saw what she did to me!” He said raising his shirt to reveal the already known scar.

Garfield put his back to Rachel and balled his fists at his sides. It seemed like she was more willing to protect a villain than to protect you… He partially listened his partner before he turned back around. “I don’t care. If she did that to you I wouldn’t care what happened to her!” He explained. If it meant Cheetah died than so be it but to blatantly stop him was infuriating.

Rachel did not enjoy being in the claws of the dragon. It reminded her of her last relationship, which for obvious reasons didn’t end well. Was she and Gar going down the same path?

No. This is Beast Boy, not some ancient being trapped in a book. He was just upset to see the woman who nearly killed him, she told herself. Finally he released her atop a building and she was about to comment when he went along and yelled at her.

“You don’t have to tell me what she did to you, I was there,” she said flatly, not even flinching at the scar. “I saved her because you were taking it too far. You could have killed her.”

He snapped at her again, speaking words she knew he only meant I this heated moment. There was no way Gar would be ok with downright murder.

“Look, I’m sorry that I had to stop you before you made a mistake, it’s not fun being controlled, but I’m not sorry I did it. I don’t care what happens to Cheetah, but I do care about you. You’re a hero, not a killer. Heroes don’t scorch down cities because of a glorified cat burglar.” Rachel reached out to touch his cheek.

“You have to calm down. Think rationally.”

Garfield felt the hand touch his face and restrained the intrusive feeling to slap it away. He grabbed Rachel’s hand and pulled it away from his face slowly as if he was trying to control himself. Only then did he turn to face his partner to reveal a couple of surprises.

“I am thinking rationally.” Gar said through clenched teeth. His eyes were that of a predator whose prey had gotten away, splotches of darker green infecting his irises. His teeth were all the same with only his canines appearing slightly larger and sharper.

The subject from earlier came back to the forefront of his mind as they talked about right and wrong. “You think I can’t fight Cheetah because she got me one time, but I’m not the same weak little kid anymore Rachel! I coulda beat her for good and we never woulda had to deal with her ever!”

A sharp headache began manifesting as the conflict in his mind had truly began. Garfield rubbed his temples while trying to talk with Rachel at the same time, proving much more aggravating now that he had the headache. “I don’t get it. People don’t even care about us, you heard that old dude they can protect themselves, but we show up and actually help them they say we’re bad guys anyways. Maybe they don’t deserve us…Garfield was so upset that he didn’t notice there was a slight change of his voice towards the end of his sentence.

Rachel flinched at the look of primal rage in his eyes. It was hard to see the man within the beast at that moment.

“I never said you were weak,” Rachel said, but she didn’t think he was listening to her with him rubbing his head. He really was too worked up about this, too much for the Gar she knew.

The change in his voice validated what had come to her mind. Years ago, Beast Boy’s DNA has been changed to include a more primal version of himself. Cyborg had given him the antidote, but Rachel remembered Beast Boy say that a lot of it came from inside of himself and that it was still there. It was her being in danger that brought out the Beast, but whether it wanted to protect her or not didn’t make it any less dangerous, especially if it was coming out again now of all times.

“I know you think you are thinking rationally, and I know that you’re upset, but you let the Beast out at the wrong time and now you’re having a hard time bringing him back in,” she explained softly.

“I know it’s hard, but this is what makes you better than Cheetah, better than all the villains and civilians who don’t believe we’re helping when we are. You know when to stop. I know you do.”

Rachel sat on the ground in front of him and crossed her legs. “And we’re going to sit here and take deep breaths until we both feel better.” She shut her eyes without waiting for him and took deep breaths.
