Fandom Beast Boy and Raven (Closed)

Garfield felt as if though he let Cheetah get away with harming him but he didn’t want to hurt Rachel. Were his feeling of revenge greater than his feelings of passion towards Rachel? He didn’t feel like he let the Beast out but he for certain felt more capable in taking out Cheetah.

He would totally know if the Beast was out and there was no way that was now. He wasn’t even big and hairy so how could he be in control. “If I beat her alone that would make me better than her too.” Garfield added as he watched Rachel sit on the ground. This was a confusing gesture but she didn’t budge one bit.

“I don’t wanna sit down I wanna go beat up some bad guys!” He demanded as he kicked the gravel that was on top of the roof. Once it was clear Rachel wasn’t going to move he grumbled and sat down in front of her and crossed his legs. “There I did the stupid breathing can we go now?”

Rachel opened one eye. “That’s funny. I thought your goal was to save people, not flex your big beasts muscles,” Rachel said sarcastically. “The bad guys can wait. Sit down.”

She closed her eye again as he sat down across from her. After what seemed like less than a moment, and no deep breaths, he was already grumbling about leaving.

“You’re acting like a child,” Rachel sighed. “And I’m no good with kids.” Her eyes opened up and she leaned her head on her hand. “I’m trying over here, but you have to help too. Is that what you really want, Gar? To beat up people because you can? You really want to turn into dragon and burn down the city?”

Rachel was ready to go into his mind and push him in the right direction, but she didn’t want to. He could wake himself up, she knew he could.

Garfield furrowed his brow and closed his eyes like Rachel suggested after a little bit of thinking. Of course he didn’t want to necessarily burn the city to the ground but if it meant getting to his target…. There was no reason for him to do that though, he loved jump city. But they do not like you…

He cleared the voice in his mind, forcing it to the back while giving it a moment to process the calm normal Garfield she knew and cared for. Gar opened his eyes and laid down on his back, feeling much better now. He exhaled and looked at the sky.

“That’s not fair…she just gets away with hurting me but I can’t hurt her.” Garfield put his arms behind his head and laid there without a care for anything else. He tried his best to stay calm and see the alleged brighter side. At least he wasn’t actually dead or anything serious, and that was thanks to Rachel.

“I don’t want burn the city down Rae, I just wanna feel better about almost dying…” Garfield started to calm down and realize the courses of his actions. “You’re right Rae….”

Rachel took a breath if relief. Finally he was sounding more like himself again. She had expected an emotional reaction, but not to this extent. It made her wonder if it really all was in Gar’s control or if something else was at play here. But no, that’s leftover fear from Red Raven. Rachel had been in Gar’s mind and he was fine. The problem isn’t always outsourced.

Perhaps this was in part her fault for making him think he needed to be stronger. Rachel scooted over and laid down next to him, no longer on edge from the lash out. “I’m sorry I made you feel weak by not wanting you to come. We didn’t know what she was capable of, she could have scratched me just as she had you,” she said, staring at the clouds. “That was wrong of me. You don’t need to prove anything to anyone.”

The initial shock of seeing Gar turn into an enormous dragon for the first time would always stay with her, but she didn’t think he even noticed yet what exactly he did. Cheetah was terrified. “I don’t think she’ll be scratching anyone soon, not after what you showed her. I’m betting she’ll be having nightmares of you in her prison cell for a very long time. And to top it all off, you’re not dead, which is what she wanted. Isn’t that payback enough?”

A small piece of him wanted to not respond to Rachel’s apology because it was true in a sense. He was weak in comparison to her at least. Then again could he become more powerful? Hopefully. That was the plan in his mind. Never needing to be cared over like he was still just a kid.

Garfield shrugged “It’s all good. I didn’t hafta be a big baby about it.” He agreed while trying not to get upset about it once more. It all reminded him of how he felt as a Titan. Garfield always assumed he was the weakest of the bunch. Robin didn’t even have power yet he proved more capable than Beast Boy in the past. Rachel was herself, Cyborg was good enough to get recruited by the Justice League, and Starfire was just like a girl version of Superman.

Most of what happened was a blur to Garfield but Rachel’s words pulled him out of his self loathing thoughts. “I guess that is pretty cool. Man I was really gonna kill her huh?…” He placed his hands on his face embarrassed at the realization that he would’ve went through it one hundred percent if Rachel hadn’t been there.

Garfield shook his head and sat up. “Now people are definitely gonna hate us and it’s all my fault. I didn’t hurt anyone innocent, right?” All he could recollect was that he hadn’t harmed anyone but that may have been wrong considering he didn’t remember much. Garfield did realize he became a dragon but the time for a celebrated mental breakthrough wasn’t right now.

He hopped to his feet and pulled Rachel up with him, giving her a hug, his full emotions returning to normal. “I’m sorry Rae I totally almost killed someone!” Garfield’s hands went to his hair as he began panicking. No way the civilians could tell that he was trying to kill Cheetah right? Maybe they thought it was a regular old fight?

Rachel was worried about how the civilians would view this fight, but she wouldn’t voice her concerns now when Gar was clearly back to his senses.

“You didn’t hurt anyone, and they don’t hate us. No one can blame you for fighting back. Besides, I think they’ll be too busy talking about the fact that this is the third public villain appearance in just a few weeks.” Rachel comforted whilst in the hug. “If anything, they’ll be at least tolerant to the fact that we’re back. And if they’re not, that’s fine too. We didn’t become heroes to receive praise.”

Breaking the hug, Rachel created a portal. “Let’s get out of here. I didn’t finish my morning tea. You’re lucky I’m not as cranky as you were,” she said in an attempt to joke…. Perhaps it was too soon.

They appeared back in their home, the TV showing some hockey game having never been turned off before they left. “See, they’re not even talking about it on the news channel,” Rachel commented as she went over to her kettle to warm up some more water.

Garfield quickly pulled himself together as the portal opened next to him. He followed Rachel in with a dry laugh following her poor joke. “Ha ha real funny Rae. I dunno if I could stop you though…” He most certainly wouldn’t have been smart enough to use the lasso on her in that exact moment.

He stretched his arms out and hopped over the back of the couch, plopping down in a reclined position. Garfield’s eyes were stuck on the TV as something more erratic began showing on the screen. “Uhh I think I know why they’re not showing the museum thing…”

On the screen a breaking news flashed across the hockey game and the scene switched to a bank. The entire building was a frozen block of ice, armed guards on the outside now statues instead of protecting the place. “It seems villain Mr. Freeze has made his way to Jump City and is attempting to rob the city’s bank. First fire at the museum minutes ago and now ice at the bank. It seems this time it was the work of villains instead of acting against them.”

Garfield scratched his head “How’d he get here if he was in Gotham with Batman? You think we can get there in time?” He said watching an ice beam burst through the frozen doors of the bank and the villain in question making his get away.

Rachel sourly poured the water out of her tea kettle. “So it’s going to be one of those days. Brilliant.”

She walked over to the Tv and crossed her arms. “Two villains in one day. Now I remember why we just hung out in our uniforms most days.” Rachel was going to ask if Gar was up to it, but decided against it, not wanting him to get the wrong idea by her question. A portal appeared in front of them and Rachel lead the way through it with her focus on what the TV screen showed, the side of the frozen bank building.

They appeared where Rachel had focused on, and immediately Rachel felt the change in temperature. Freezing winds from blasted ice made her shiver and wish for her tea.

“It’s cold enough in the winter. Why’d it have to be Mr. Freeze?” She moaned. Mr. Freeze meanwhile was heading to a frozen vehicle right in front of the bank with his two lackeys, all holding big guns. One of the lackeys shot a bystander, who froze in a running position.

“Ok, don’t get shot. Good to know,” Rachel said. “We have to figure out how to crank up the heat.”

Garfield groaned slightly and stood up, stretching out behind Rachel while they walked through the portal. It wasn’t that he didn’t want to save the people but two in one day? That’s a little overkill in terms of fighting people.

He shivered and rubbed his hands on his arms before becoming a green polar bear. He nearly forgot he wasn’t in costume so he needed to protect his identity. Garfield watched as the ray hit a pedestrian and froze the man in place. His eyes widened and he stood on two feet.

“Chase me if you want failed heroes but the hypothermia will get to the innocent bystanders before you can return. I hope you understand I only do this for Nora…” Mr Freeze said. Garfield scratched his head “Who’s Nora?” He asked as the car sped off.

What could he do to quickly melt the ice? Wait, duh. Garfield knew exactly what to do. “I can melt them while you get Mr popsicle. You can like signal me or something where you’re at.” He turned into a familiar looking dragon and walked over to the recently frozen man. Garfield let his fire build up a little before blowing a much smaller flame, in comparison to what happened a couple minutes prior, next to the man and watching the water pour off of him.

Gar smiled and the man ran off without a word while the dragon lugged over to the actual bank. He squeezed his head through the doors and let off a blast towards the ceiling that began rapidly heating the entire room. In a minute or so there were people running out of the bank past the dragon that was simply warning them up and melting them with the goodness of his heart.

Rachel was hesitant to leave Gar alone after his morning display, but there wasn’t time think of another plan. She lifted herself up in the air, watching the dragon for a moment before taking off.

He’ll be fine. It was just a reaction to Cheetah. He wouldn’t hurt a fly, he’s been a fly before. This is his chance to save civilians and feel like a hero again.

The ice mobile sped down the road way over the speed limit, so Rachel left her thoughts behind and dove after them. It seemed the iced men saw her, because Mr. Freeze and one of his lackeys each stuck their head and gun out of the car and aimed at her.

Blasts of frozen air shot at her, causing Rachel to fly to the left and right to dodge it. Between dodges, Rachel shot back with her own black magic, causing the vehicle to swerve on the road as well. Luckily there wasn’t much traffic on the road this morning, although some car were slammed into and pushed aside.

The direction of the vehicle was sporadic, making it difficult to follow especially while dodging, but eventually Rachel realized where they were heading. The abandoned building Gar and Rachel had searched only a few days ago was coming into view. Now knowing where they were heading, Rachel stopped the chase and decided to meet Mr. Freeze there.

She created a portal and stepped through to arrive in the abandoned building. What she didn’t expect was the abandoned building was no longer abandoned. Rachel found herself surrounded by people all clad in astronaut-looking suits and ice rays, all pointed at her. Rachel was going to quick phase down into the ground, but she wasn’t fast enough. She felt a blast from behind her and watched as her body went stiff, now enclosed in ice.

Mr. Freeze stepped into the abandoned building and walk past his circle of henchmen to get to Rachel, a smile on his face.

“I want you to know. This does not give me pleasure. I have no quarrel with you or Jump City, but I will do what I must to save Nora. All my years of research will finally pay off once Luthor gets what he wants, which I am sad to say, my dear, is you and your friend,” Mr. Freeze explained. Rachel wondered why he was telling her his whole villainous plot, but this of course was the least of her problems.

“Get her ready for travel. Her friend will arrive soon to save her. Reset the trap,” Mr. Freeze told his lackeys.

Rachel’s body was unable to move, but luckily for her, her soul didn’t need to stay in her body. A black Raven flew out of the Raven ice sculpture and shot into the sky. It flew over the buildings and back to the bank and giant green dragon.

“Gar. I’m frozen. There’s a trap in the abandoned building,” The Raven cawed into the dragon’s mind.

Garfield hadn’t experienced being a dragon at this size for very long so there was a bit of clumsiness to his movement while melting the bank. He knocked over a few potted plants, broke a couple window, but all in all he was doing an excellent job of making sure each and every person got out safe.

He helped everyone outside, some glad to be warm while others were skeptical of the reptilian. Garfield nearly backed into the building when the voice of Rachel jumped into his head. “Abandoned building? What building? The old bad dude place?” He started to panic before taking off into the air causing a stir up of wind and debris.

Gar was flying faster than nearly any creature he could think of as a million thoughts went through his mind even faster. There was no way he could simply allow Rae to be hurt, not after all they’ve been through. Garfield busted through the ceiling, landing on a few of the henchmen that were unfortunate to be crushed by a 20 ton creature.

“Seize him!” Mr Freeze yelled out before the green dragon was shot at by the ice rays courtesy of the lackies that weren’t crushed. Garfield gave a deep breath and blasted fire to clash with the lasers. After a few moments he overwhelmed the technology and the henchmen jumped out of the path of the fire blast.

“Rae! Are you okay?” He asked while the villains were recuperating. He quickly gave a weak blast to Rachel’s frozen body and turned to protect her while she got herself together. Garfield watched Mr Freeze beginning to type into a machine so he decided to shoot his fire towards it, attempting to destroy it.

The Raven followed after the dragon, just barely keeping up with the pace it had set. As the dragon crashed through the ceiling, the Raven went back home into Rachel’s frozen body.

She shivered as the ice melted off of her. “C-c-couldn’t be b-b-better,” she chattered. Rachel leaned against the dragon’s foot as support until she could feel her legs again, which was thankfully happening quickly due to the heat emanating from the dragon. Pins and needles pricked her senses, but she shook them off to focus on the task at hand.

Gar had just set flames against whatever machine it was Mr. Freeze had been typing on, but there seemed to be some sort of shield protecting it from fire and ice. Rachel didn’t know why, but she had a hunch that this was Lexcorp technology.

Mr. Freeze had given up on the machine, or did what he had meant to do with it, and was now running in the opposite direction towards his getaway car. Rachel reached her hands out and blocked the exit with broken up bits of ceiling.

“Now it’s your turn to Freeze,” Rachel said. Pipes from the walls soared over to Mr. Freeze and coiled around him and a few nearby lackeys.

“Beast Boy, take care of that machine. Whatever it’s doing it can’t be good,” Rachel said.

Garfield nodded his head and clapped his wings once, enough to get him across the room. If fire didn’t work then maybe he could just smash it or something with his claws. He went and swiped at the shield but when he touched it the energy shot through him, electrocuting Gar. He stumbled back as Mr Freeze chuckled.

“It seems you are going to assist your fool. There isn’t a temperature on Earth that can get through that shield, we made sure of that.” Victor Fries was confident in his cocreation with Lex Luthor but he hadn’t accounted for Garfield’s unstable mental state. “Although I’m surprised. That shock was intended to kill anyone who dared touch it.”

Gar felt a surge of anger after a few seconds of realizing the shock was meant to kill him. The dragon’s throat and stomach grew hot, so much so that the room started dripping water. A fiery green column left his mouth as the shield absorbed the blast as much as it could but Garfield wasn’t out of steam yet. Seconds later, the shield bursted and the computer was melted almost instantly.

Mr Freeze’s face remained calm but his shock was heard through his voice. “Impossible. It should’ve withstood anything below 3000 °Celsius.” “In your face Frosty!” He said back to his senses slightly. Unfortunately for them Garfield’s breath had melted the metal walls and support beams inside them. The building began creaking, threatening to collapse on the three.

Rachel watched impressed as the machine melted instantly upon the heat of the flames. "Looks like there's no longer reason for you to be in Jump City," Rachel said to Mr. Freeze, wiping sweat off her brow. It was getting pretty toasty in here.

"You've made a glacial mistake," Mr. Freeze said, struggling against his restraints. "Your heated friend will have doomed us all if you don't get us out of here." Rachel frowned, trying to understand what Mr. Freeze meant.

A block of ceiling fell and clunked one of the lackeys on the head. Rachel looked up and saw that the whole building was collapsing. Rachel formed a huge dome around the villains and dragon just as the walls began to cave in. She struggled at the pressure of the debris falling on top of her shield. The sound of the collapsing building was deafening, and smoke surrounded them as Rachel finally let the shield go.

Rachel coughed and swiped her hand in front of her, trying to move the smoke out of the way so she could see more than an inch in front of her. Luckily, it wasn't hard to find where she left Mr. Freeze and the two henchmen she had caught.

"We're ok? Incredible," Mr. Freeze said, flabbergasted. "Luthor said you were weak young fools."

Garfield laughed a little at Fries’ choice of words, enjoying the play on words before the villain to his left was bonked on the head by a sizable brick. This too was funny but him figuring the rest of the building was crumbling, not so much. He bent down to make Rachel’s dome fit around them with more easier as it disappeared moments later.

Gar flapped his wings a few times and the smoke around them cleared, rising into the open sky above them. He walked around them, pushing over any large pieces of walls that threatened to fall towards them with his tail. Once there was no immediate hazards he nodded his head at Mr. Freeze “That’s cuz he’s always fighting Superman and stuff and that guy is crazy strong. But we’re still stronger than you.” He pointed out.

Victor muttered a few grumbling words but ultimately kept to himself. There was no doubt that Lex would be displeased with his performance, treated as a toy for this underestimated duo. Sirens were heard in the distance as Gar tugged on Rachel’s hood with his claw, lifting her slightly to her toes a couple of times.

“Maybe we should let the cops take him away and go back….to the tower?” The words left his mouth as a question since he wasn’t sure what their base of operations be called. Could he say home without clueing the villains in to their daily lives. Once the slight confusion had passed he took to the sky waiting for Rachel and flew alongside her. “That was so awesome!” He said with a familiar enthusiasm riddling his tone.

Rachel waved her hand at the dragon to let go of her hood, but nodded in agreement that they should probably make their grand exit. She turned to Mr. Freeze one final time and tightened the pipes around him.

“You won’t be seeing Lex Luthor for a long time, but if you do, you can tell him he’s not welcome in Jump City. We will not stand idly by,” Rachel told Mr. Freeze, before lifting herself in the air and soaring after the dragon.

“That was pretty impressive, Gar. You’ve already got a handle on this big dragon form,” Rachel grinned at him. Her face grew serious though as she thought about the two encounters of the day. Even in peak Teen Titan times there were rarely two occurrences in one day. If this was going to become more and more frequent, she needed Gar to stay in control, remember that he is a hero, not a beast, well not 100% beast.

Flying besides the dragon, she thought of his outburst. She attested it to him not feeling welcomed as a hero aside from the whole revenge thing. “I was thinking,” Rachel began. “If this is going to become a occasional activity, you’re going to need to dress the part. I think it’s time we get you a uniform that fits.”

Garfield began doing circles as they flew, his tail occasionally bumping her. “Its a piece of cake! I just like…feel what I’m ‘posed to do, you know? Like instinct.” He explained before stopping his circles. It turns out dragons can get just as dizzy as other animals. Good to know….

He often wondered if people looked up in the air and saw them flying only to be called a liar by their friends or something. That would be funny to think about but he probably shouldn’t fly down that low to test it out. The things that went through his mind.

Garfield flew above Rachel, changing into a mushu to better land on her shoulder and hear her out. “A costume? Like for superhero stuff? I think I got a idea about a costume from a movie.” He said nestling down in between her neck and shoulder.

There was something he saw in Avengers Endgame that caught his eye as something he would want to wear. It was completely different from his other costume but different was good right?

Rachel looked skeptically at the lizard with wings. “From a movie? Really?” Movies tend to over exaggerate things and bring them over the top, a reason why she stayed away from them a lot if the time.

She realized that Gar had never made his own look before, having taken his old costume from the Doom Patrol when joining the Titans. Her own costume was simply a robe from Azarath, but she chose what she wore underneath it. Besides, where does one begin with a look without taking inspiration from something else? Rachel had not seen Avengers Endgame, whatever that meant, but at least it was Avengers and not Revengers.

“As long as it’s not too flashy. I still have to be seen with you,” Rachel commented as they neared their home. She slowed as they made it to the front door and she phased right through it. It was nice not having to keep a key on her at all times anymore. She didn’t realize how much she missed using her abilities.

“Let’s draw up a design. I have some paper we can use,” she said once they were inside, and flew upstairs to get it.

Garfield shook his head at the tone Rachel took, preparing himself for a reply that wouldn’t approve of the idea before she even knew it completely. “C’mon, don’t be such a downer Rae.” He insisted while they slowed their flight speed down. He hadn’t thought the idea through all the way but he knew he wouldn’t wear a mask ever again. Those things stink at the end of the day and it made his face all sweaty.

No sooner than they left the crime scene they arrived home, coming down to the door. Garfield who was not granted the ability to phase through matter hit the door and slid down it. He rubbed his nose and turned into a gnat in order to slip through the crack at the bottom of the door only to become himself on the other side. “Even if we draw it what if we can’t find it at a store?” Gar called out while she was upstairs.

He let her grab the things while he popped a few iced breakfast pastries into the toaster for a quick snack, grabbing a glass of water to go with it. Once they finished and Rae had came back he slide to the counter to draw while he at the food at the same time. As he drew the design was relatively simple compared to other things he thought up in his mind on a daily basis.

While chewing some of his Poptart, Gar pointed at a couple of sections to explain them to Rachel without having to color them all in. “I want all this right here to be white and the other stuff to be red.”

Rachel flew back down the stairs with a pad and pencil, unable to find any crayons or markers, and sat herself down on a stool by the counter. “Im no seamstress, but I’m sure there’s a store somewhere that has stretch cotton or spandex. Maybe even some sporting goods store will have it?”

She watched him draw up a simple outline and explain the color scheme. “White and red, huh?” It was a change from the original black and purple for sure, but not a bad one. Wondering where to start, Rachel suggested, “Maybe Kory will know where to start. She probably pays more attention to this kind of thing for her client.”

The mention of Kory had the ulterior motive of improving Gar and Kory’s relationship. The past few days, it was tolerant at best. Rachel knew Gar was still hurt by Kory’s decision to not aid them in battle.

“Maybe we can pay her a visit.”

Garfield wasn’t sure what his old suit was made of but it didn’t matter since every so often it needed repairs after their fights. Whatever the material they used was, all that he cared about was that the suit was comfortable. He shoved the rest of the pastry in his mouth then wrinkled his brow.

“What does houses have to do with clothes and costumes?” He asked before shaking his head. “Who cares anyways. Not like she wants to help us or nothin…” Garfield crumpled the drawing up and threw it over his shoulder. He got up and went over to the couch and plopped back down.

It was clear he didn’t want to contact Starfire given the recent disagreements they had together. Garfield didn’t want to even hear more about the Tamaranian so he rolled into his stomach and covered his head with the pillow. He didn’t know why it bothered him that their comrade didn’t want to help them fight to protect the city but he certainly wasn’t ready to talk with or about her, not anytime soon anyways.

Rachel sighed audibly, expecting this response but hoping for a different one. It had been hard on her being the monkey in the middle of Gar and Kory’s relationship. Kory of course was devastated that Gar seemingly didn’t want to be friends, but she kept her distance on Rachel’s suggestion to give him time to come to terms with the new reality. Rachel just wished he would hurry up already and move on, but that was never Gar’s way. He wasn’t one for moving on.

Rachel walked over to the drawing and smoothed it out. Deciding to leave the Starfire issue alone for now, she said, “I think I can get used to the white and red. How hard can it be to find some supplies and throw it together?” In her mind she noted a couple places they could try close to home. “I’m pretty sure I saw a Soul of Halloween store about a block from here on the way back. Want to try there first?”

Looking up from the paper she saw a green human ball hiding under the couch pillow. She floated over and tapped three times on the pillow. “Hey, Ninja Turtle. You gonna come out of your shell or am I costume shopping alone?” Rachel thought about it and grinned. “Then again, if I’m shopping alone maybe I’ll make some changes to your costume. Maybe mouse ears? Cotton tail? I could probably find some makeup to draw on some whiskers.”

Garfield was glad that Starfire was no longer in mention as he felt the pillow indent from Rachel’s finger. He didn’t move at first but jolted to sit up at the mention of the lame choices she was naming off in her list of what to get him. “No way I’m wearing a tail on my suit.” He said putting the pillow in his lap.

“I wanna go too and make sure you don’t make things all lame. I wanna look cool!” Gar explained while getting to his feet and taking the picture from Rachel in a way that didn’t insinuate rudeness. “No tall no ears no nothing.” He explained while pointing at the respective body parts to show there was nothing there.

Garfield looked Rachel in the back heading her towards the door, more motivated to go to the store now that he wasn’t sure if the correct items would be obtained. “Let’s go let’s go let’s go let’s go!” He was pumped to go to Soul of Halloween and see what they had for him to pick.

“I bet you can magic the stuff together and make something awesome, can’t you Rae?” Garfield’s eyes were filled with awe just imagining his partner doing something so cool. Every once in a while he wondered if he could do the stuff she could do, el at least the easy stuff anyways.

Well that was easy, Rachel thought at the quick change in mood from Gar. She rose from the couch and grabbed her purse. Having changed while she was upstairs getting the paper, she was already in regular clothes and ready to go.

“With the right materials, sure. I guess I can. I’ve never made a costume before, so we’ll need to stop at a craft store for a sewing needle and thread,” Rachel said, thinking about the items she would need.

“Let’s see what we can find.” Rachel opened a portal beside them and stepped through. They were on the side of two buildings by a couple of trash cans; the smell made Rachel scrunch her nose. “Lovely,” she said sarcastically. A few squeaks from the cans replied, and she wondered just how long this garbage has been out there.

She stepped out from the alleyway and welcomed the fresh air. Soul of Halloween was to the right of the alleyway, and it looked all but abandoned. Rachel suddenly remembered that it was a long time until Halloween, and so this building might in face be closed. No one seemed to be going inside.

Lo and behold, upon pulling the door handle, the store was in fact opened. A dead-looking man stood behind the counter, not even flinching at the door chimes, but besides him the place was deserted. Maybe that was a good thing, though, because the store was massive and covered from head to toe in costume apparel.

“Well, at least no one will wonder what we’re looking for,” Rachel commented, raising her eyebrow at some mechanical ghoulish robot thing cackling and waiving it’s arms from side to side.

Of course Garfield was already in civilian clothing, hence the entire reason they were going out in the first place, so he didn’t even need to change. He was excited to actually have a costume again so maybe people would recognize him as a hero again

He smiled and pumped his fist. “Well let’s go get that material then!” Gar nearly sprinted through the portal when it opened and tripped, catching himself on the wall behind said trash cans. He shuddered “You don’t wanna know what’s going on in there…” Garfield advised Rachel.

Upon entering the building his nose wrinkled at the smell of old spiders and rat droppings throughout the building. “Dude this place reeks…” Gar whispered to Rachel. He tried to be a little polite considering the guy was right in front of them but it was loud enough for him to hear it of course.
