Fandom Beast Boy and Raven (Closed)

Garfield started checking his body for other marks, not knowing what else could’ve appeared on his body. The scar seemed the same. Just as fresh as when Rachel fixed it so that was good. While she flipped through books he simply finished checking on his body. “I don’t see no more…”

When she talked about his proximity to her he backed up a step and shrugged his shoulders. “She had something on my face so I couldn’t see…” Garfield scratched his head. He wasn’t being very helpful at the moment so he thought harder about the entire nightmare.

“Uhh I think I was in a chair this time and not a bed…” He closed his eyes and the feelings of the rope around his hands and ankles returned. “I was tied up…and for some reason I couldn’t turn into nothing…” That part frustrated Garfield the most. He couldn’t even fight back.

Rachel frowned, bringing the book over to the bed. “That sounds like more than a nightmare to me.” Now that she thought about it, he hadn’t transformed into an animal since the incident, not that there was much cause for him to do so. The fact that he was tied up was also concerning.

“I think when I healed you, part of my soul self stayed behind,” Rachel explained, pointing to a passage in her book. The text was in demonic, but she of course could read it. “She could be blocking your ability to change. In a way, you are paralyzed, your mind is just depicting that as being tied up. I’m not sure you can change right now if you tried.”

Rachel looked apologetically at him, then turned back to her book. “We have to get her out of you. We do that by going into your mind, untie you, and banish her.”

Garfield figured it was a regular scary thing that was in his mind but he was being told it was Rachel’s soul attached to his on. Normally that would’ve sounded like a wholesome thing but of course it was the demon portion of her.

“I can’t change?! But that just makes me lame and not a hero…” He frowned looking down at his wound. He rubbed it a little and looked back at Rachel. Personally he felt more awkward in his own skin than ever. Now he was just green with no other awesome after effects of what happened that day.

Garfield looked up at Rachel and nodded his head. “What we gotta do to get her out?…” He thought about all the scary movies he had ever seen and shivered. “Are you gonna do like a exorcism?…”

Rachel looks up from her book at his comment. “You without powers doesn’t make you lame or not a hero,” she stated assuredly. “… but I can’t deny we need you with your powers right now more than we do without. And I know just how we’re going to do that.”

Rachel closed her eyes, book floating up into the air to rest just below her hands.

“Speculum animae porta ad mentem. Azarath Metrion Zinthos,” she chanted with her hands drawing an oval in the air. The oval gained substance and slowly formed into a handheld mirror, not unlike the one Rachel already owned. The aesthetic of the mirror was different, it being green, the handle in the shape of a paw, and scratch marks on the back.

“Remember when you once entered my mind?” Rachel asked, opening her eyes again and taking the mirror in her hands. “This mirror will allow us to do the same for yours. We go in there. Banish the demon, and get out,” she explained. “You will have an advantage, it’s your mind after all, but she’ll be clever.”

Garfield was always weary of a spell sucking him into a book or something so when she started he backed away again. Was it a valid fear? After seeing what Rachel could do, there was no way he would take his chances. Being in a book sounded boring anyways.

He remained quiet after her statement and while chanting took place, not wanting to mess up the work and have multiverses collide all because he couldn’t shut up while someone was doing a spell. When the mirror fell down into her hands, Garfield immediately knew what was about to take place and was nervous. Would going into his mind even be a good thing?

Garfield looked nervous but nodded with a swallow of the foul taste in his mouth suddenly. “Alright but don’t be looking in my brain and stuff…” He joked remembering Rachel’s warning from before.

The next thing he knew they were in the mind of a Beast and in a room that looked similar to his old apartment. There was bed in the middle of the room but Garfield was very much in that bed, tied up. Wait. But he was standing next to Rachel and in the bed? Oh no. That meant there were more than one of him just like the Rachel’s?

Garfield sniffed the room and shuddered. “She was definitely here…” The Beast Boy in the bed was identical to Garfield in every way down to no shirt, but his sweat pants were orange. He didn’t own any orange pants though. “Look he’s sleep….” Garfield said as he walked up to the emoticlone of himself.

Garfield poked his own cheek repeatedly until the Beast Boy opened his eyes. The emoticlone happened to have orange eyes as well but opened them very slowly. “Dude, why’d you wake me? I was just chilling out…” It seemed with no Red Raven there to torture him he had no problem being tied to a bed.

“Dude, where did Red go? We gotta find her?…”

“Dude, I dunno…She went out the window after like three times of doing that thing to my stomach or something…”

It seemed that this Beast Boy didn’t even know he had a scar on his abs thanks to Red Raven but rather wanted sleep instead. Garfield found this fair but very unhelpful, seeing as he too wanted to sleep right now but they needed to do this.

“Oh dude, she’s right there…” He pointed his tied up hand at Rachel who stood next to Garfield, Beast Boy having a lack of urgency even though it was obvious that Red was out to get them and he thought Rachel was her.

Garfield shook his head.
“No Dude that’s regular Rae, she’s good.” He explained as Beast Boy nodded his head yawning. It looked like now that there were seemingly no more questions for him and he wasn’t in danger, he closed his eyes and was immediately asleep again.

Garfield looked at Rachel and smiled. “I was only in two places so she gots to be where we see the next me, right?” He said walking to the window, which was opened. Out the window in the far distance there was a singular figure that Garfield couldn’t see from here, without becoming an animal. It was a grassy giant field with a few trees here and there. That would’ve explained the breeze He was feeling a few minutes prior.

Rachel closed her eyes as they were sucked up into the mirror. When they opened again, she was looking at two different Beast Boys. It was expected, but it was a strange sight to say the least.

With the orange Beast Boy falling back asleep, Rachel moved closer to untie him. He didn’t wake up as she did so, only moving to get more comfortable on the bed. She took the opportunity to check out his stomach as well. The scar looked like Gar’s, and she didn’t sense any demonic presence in him. Whatever she was her plan was, orange wasn’t in it.

“Something tells me this guy would tell her what she wants without too much probing,” Rachel said. She walked over to the window to look out too. “All we have to do is find the you she’s looking for.” It looked like Gar was being drawn in that direction, so Rachel determined it must be the way to go.

“Hang on,” Rachel said, taking his hand and lifting them up with a black disc beneath their feet. They flew out the window, which disappeared behind them as they were transported into a whole new area of his mind.

A large field, trees breaking up the otherwise empty space. Rachel was half expecting deer to prance across the meadow, but as of right now there was nothing.

“Hmm. I would have thought the mind of Beast Boy would have more… beasts,” Rachel said as they floated passed it all. Just then, she noticed a figure in the far distance. Small. Was it a bird? She lead them closer, lowering down closer to the grass. As they reached the ground and just a few feet away from the figure, Rachel realized she was right. A little bird sat tweeting alone in the wide open field.

Rachel let go of Gar’s hand and approached the bird, crouching down closer to its level. “Why are you the only one here, little guy?”

Garfield looked around at the room one last time, jealous that his orange counterpart was able to sleep in, before he and Rachel stepped onto the black disc. He stood next to her and bent down like he was on a surfboard. If it was his mind that means he couldn’t die or anything right?

Garfield would’ve agreed with Rachel but with Red running rampant who knew what was still in his mind in normal condition. Once they were off of the magic surfboard he wobbled off and steadied himself. The little bird began frantically chirping and fluttering it’s wings at the sight of Rachel.

Garfield found the sight a little aggravating that there wasn’t peace in his mind as the bird darted to his shoulder and chirped loudly in his ear. His eyes widened and he took the bird in his finger. Chirping back to him in a soft tone. “He thought you were Red too and apparently she’s been scaring all the little dudes looking for me? It’s hard to understand him he’s kinda like talking fast.”

Garfield had assured the bird Rachel was a friend and the bird cautiously hopped over to her, chirping quickly. “He says Sorry.” The bird hopped in Rachel’s hand and rubbed his head against her wrist. Before there was anything else to be said a familiar voice was heard yelling out.

“Heyyyy! Where you are! Don’t be a scared little bitch Red!”

Garfield looked at Rachel, finding it weird hearing his own voice from so far but not moving his lips. “Let’s go get me…” He smiled before heading towards the voice. In a minute or two they came across a Beast Boy who was similarly dressed like Garfield and tied to a chair but with blindfold and blue sweatpants.

This Beast Boy however, was standing with his arms tied behind the chair and ankles to the legs. He moves around and sniffed the air. “Is that…me?” Garfield walked towards himself and sat him down. With Rachel’s hello they untied him and took his blindfold off, revealing his dark blue eyes.

“Hey man I know this is weird and stuff but-“ He stopped when he realized this Beast Boy’s wound was still bleeding. “Dude! Rae can you make him not bleed?..” The emoticlone shook his head. “I don’t need healing right now we gotta find Red and get her out our head dude!” All Garfield could think of was helping his blue self while Beast Boy only thought of capturing Red.

Suddenly, with the power of the mind, Beast Boy’s wound was a scar while he shrugged it off. “Thanks I guess…Hey Rae you think I could fight you and like practice for when I beat Red’s ass?” Garfield stepped in between the two before that could happen and shook his head. “No dude we gotta find her and put her back in Rachel.” Beast Boy nodded “Yeah but that means we get to fight her right?” Garfield turned to Rachel for an answer.

Rachel was really starting to hate the fact the initial thought upon seeing herself in Gar’s mind was fear/anger. Even the lazy side of him was weary. It was warranted of course, but still. As the little bird cuddled into her hand Rachel became more determined than ever to put Red back where she came from, and this time under lock and key so she never gets out again.

Blue Beast Boy’s stomach healed and he looked ready for a fight. Rachel did not like the idea of sparring with him, even if it were for practice. Her Brave self usually is not afraid to take things too far. However, that was going to be needed for what they needed to do.

“I have a spell that will send her back to me,” Rachel explained. “…But she does know about this spell, and will be doing everything she can not to let me finish it. You will need to face your fear of her.” She looked apologetically at Gar, then to Blue Beast Boy. “He’ll need a lot of your help.”

The sound of thunder in the distance caught her ears, Rachel had sensed it long before hearing it, since they first found Blue Beast Boy still bleeding. Red found what she was looking for.

“We don’t have much time,” Rachel said. She turned in the direction of the thunder strike and saw clouds forming in the distance.

Garfield figured Rachel was going to say something he wouldn’t like completely. Blue Beast Boy on the other hand was excited for this fight to occur. When Rachel indicated they would need his help, he smiled and boldly put his arm around her shoulder. “You know I can totally take her. I’m the demon slayer.” He winked.

This ignited a jealous reaction out of Garfield but he wanted to remain calm so he pulled his blue self from Rachel, placing the mental personification on his left and Rae on his right. “Dude we gotta focus on Red...” Blue Beast Boy redirected his sights. “Yeah yeah my bad.”

Beast Boy heard the thunder and had a smile, now knowing the location of the demon to be slayed. Garfield was not as excited but equally prepared. It’s like being around his blue self made him feel like he wasn’t supposed to be afraid of anything.

“Alright so here’s the plan-“

“I already know dude, you’re me…”

“Oh..yeah you’re right. Well let’s banish this chick outta our mind!”

As they arrived to the scene, Blue Beast Boy spoke up a little before anyone could even say a word. “Just so we know if I beat her and she’s the strongest Rae, I’m stronger than you right?”

Garfield shook his head “Dude! This isn’t the time to say that we gotta all work like a team…” He said while readying himself for battle. Regardless of how he was feeling, it was his brain, he could just feel better anytime he wanted. Wasn’t that how it worked?

Rachel outwardly ignored the blue Beast Boy, but she hoped what he said was true and that this coming fight wouldn’t be evenly matched.

As they approached the storm, the field changed to what looked like a forest after a wildfire. Blackened trees sporadically blocked the straightforward path, the ground a dry dark dirt. Even the sky changed from a bright blue to grey and foggy. This eerie scene didn’t seem to bother Blue in the slightest, in fact it seemed to motivate him more.

Rachel raised an eyebrow at him. “You do remember we just untied you from a chair, right? You’re not stronger than her alone, blue boy.” She looked to Gar. “Luckily, there’s more of us than there is of her. If we work together, there’s hope.”

Hope. What a pointless thing. Just like your little plan to banish me.

Rachel’s own voice filled her head, but the thought was not her own. She looked at the two Beast Boys, based on the look on their faces, they must have heard it as well.

“We’re close,” Rachel said, continuing on. She put up a front of not caring, but really she was just about fed up with this demonic side.

I’m so glad you decided to visit me, Demon Slayer, I don’t understand why you brought her, though. Didn’t you enjoy the fun we were having together? You can push her out of your mind if you want. Did you know you can do that? I bet she didn’t tell you. I warned you, Ninja Turtle, she’s huuuunnnnnggggrrryyy.

“You mistake me for yourself,” Rachel growled, shooting dark magic in a random direction. There was a cry in the distance, the arrow hitting its mark. Red Raven appeared from behind a tree, wiping the dark magic off her cloak.

“That was a little uncalled for, don’t you think? I was just starting conversation.” Red said with a pout. She pointed to each of the three as if counting, then tsked her tongue. “Three against one? That doesn’t seem like a fair fight. Anyone want to switch sides? Come on, Gar. You said you wanted to be friends.”

Blue Beast Boy wasn’t passed by Rachel’s correct observation and instead gave a quick excuse. “That’s only cause she snuck up on me, but now I can take her for sure.” He drove his fist into the opposite hand and stepped forwards.

Garfield was looking around at the destruction and got the feeling similar to that when he saw what a villain had done to Jump City. This was his home and they needed to be removed. Forcefully.

The twins exchanged a look of confusion when the voice erupted into their eardrums. Garfield started using his finger like a q-tip and dig the sound out while Blue Beast Boy did the same.

Garfield hate the way Red sounded like Rachel, knowing she was trying to trick him. Blue looked around the forest and got a bit frustrated. “Stop hiding you chicken! I am so gonna slay you when I find you!” He yelled out before Rachel did his job for him.

Once Red addressed Garfield directly he turned to Blue and the two understood each other instantly. “I was but you kept trying to hurt me!..” He said as Blue Beast Boy and himself began moving around Red. They stopped once Rachel, Garfield, and Blue formed a triangle with Red in the center.

“Hurt you? Don’t be silly…If anything I was trying to help you. Just ask the Timid one…if you find him.” Red smirked. Garfield shook his head “You healed me big deal but you don’t gotta torture me too!…” It seemed Garfield didn’t understand the help that Red Raven spoke of which pleased her to no end. Though she was smart enough to let him believe what he wanted to believe. Blue Beast Boy grimaced at the mention of Gray. That was a brother to him, his very own Cyborg in a way. “What did you do to him!?”

He dashed at Red and jumped into the air, aiming to land in her with a punch. Garfield simultaneously took off but was a tad slower due to his condition. While Blue was in the air Gar knew exactly what he was thinks so went in for Red’s legs.

While the Beast Boys distracted Red with chatter, Rachel prepared herself for her spell, closing her eyes and beginning to chant. “domini speculatoris orientis, domini caeli-“

Red smiled as black tentacles shot out from her mouth. One reached up and wrapped around Blue and tossed him aside. The rest of her focus went to Gar. Much like when he was healed, the tentacles forced their way into the stomach.

“Your fear feeds me. It makes me strong,” her darkened voice explained. “Mm. So much fear. You can’t fight me, Gar. And that’s ok. I’ll take good care of you.”

“Let him go!” Rachel stopped her chanting to send a black blade to slice through the tentacles. She surged forward and blocked Red from Gar, eyes glowing brightly.

Without turning to Gar, she spoke in his mind. You need to summon all of your selves. My demon self is trying to block you from all of your abilities, but when you are whole, she has no power over you. Join them all. I’ll hold her back. Hurry, Ninja Turtle.

“I was in the middle of something, Rachel, why don’t you go back to your books. At least they tolerate you,” Red Sneered.

“You really need new source material. It’s predictable and boring,” Rachel replied, shoving her shield forward, pushing Red backwards.

“Fine. You want to play? Let’s play. But remember, you were the one who wanted me here. You asked for this!”

Garfield heard a familiar yell through the air as Blue Beast Boy was swung away with ease. Gar focused all his mind into creating a giant baseball mitt to catch him, getting grabbed around the waist by Red as a result.

He was turned upside down and Blue recovered his senses after being forcefully thrown into the leather object. Garfield screamed out in pain as the tentacles invaded his body. He was tempted to just relax in Red’s grip from the voices in his head, hearing multiple different sentences all at once and driving him insane.

Thankfully Rachel came and saved him as his last mental thread almost broke. Garfield got up, hearing her words in his head which was like a glass of water after running a marathon. “I got it!” He nodded as he ran off towards the woods. Blue Beast Boy recovered his senses and went to run past Garfield but the real one of the two grabbed his brave self and pulled him along their new path. “We gotta get the other me’s and I bet you know where they are.”

Blue frowned wanting to face Red once more. He didn’t argue though, being able to tell his complete self was serious without even having the same thoughts. The two set off back to the apartment to quickly get Orange since he would surely be in the same spot. They both forced him to his feet and Orange leaned against Blue as Garfield spoke to him.

“Who’s the next easiest to find... We gotta hurry up for Rae!…”

“Well I bet yellow is at the zoo or aquarium.” Orange yawned.

Blue nodded “I know where that is but you gotta make a rocket and let us parachute down to the aquarium!”

Garfield shook his head. “Dude we don’t have time come on.”

Without really know where to go, Gar’s instincts slowly led him to the aquarium. Inside there was a version of him with neat hair but he was clothed in a yellow sweater and yellow jeans. Yellow turned around and waved. “Hey man, you here because of this I bet?” The clone raised his shirt and there was a scar.

Garfield nodded, surprised he even had a smart version of himself. “Uh yeah we gotta go and get the others.” Yellow nodded and casually walked over. “Sweet. I know where they’re at too.” Gar smiled. “Sweet!..Where at!”

The group left with Yellow now being the shoulder for Orange to lean on. Garfield figured he’d let his smart self lead the way while asking him questions. “So if you’re smart me what typa stuff do you know.”

“Well first off I know how to talk proper English. Yeah I know it’s faster to speak like you do but that’s not me.”

Garfield was going to say that exact point but it seems yellow beat him to it. “Y’know what, I believe you.” He said before Yellow smiled.

“Wait Pink is in there.”

Ahead was Titan Tower which meant that the Beast Boy inside must’ve been happiness. For some reason on top of the tower was a shimmering replica of the town house he and Rachel was supposed to buy from Star, fading in and out of his mind.

“How are we supposed to get to it with all this water?…”

“He just has to use his brain.”

Garfield rubbed his head and had a eureka moment. “Oh I know!” Suddenly the water rippled and a giant escalator appeared from underground that led from them to the tower. Yellow nodded in approval while Blue crossed his arms. “Parachuting was a way better idea…”

The four entered the Tower through a door that was partially cracked only for Blue, who had grown impatient, to be drenched by a water bucket over the doorway. Garfield laughed a little but even more laughter erupted from the living room couch. Pink had hidden behind it waiting on them to come in before they entered the doorway.

“No way you fell for the oldest trick in the book!”

Garfield laughed while a towel was tossed to Blue by Pink. “That was actually pretty good, but we need your help…”

“I’m in.”

“But we didn’t even tell you.”

Who cares I’m in. You guys are like my best friends, why wouldn’t I help you.” Pink walked in between the group and put his arms around Garfield and Yellow. “So where to next.”

“Now we just need Purple and then we can help Rachel.”

“Oh that’s easy. He’s in Raven’s room.”

Garfield felt a bit embarrassed knowing exactly what emotion this was and pointed to Blue. “Can you get him dude?… It’ll be waaaay faster…” Yellow nodded in agreement. “He’s right.” He said before Blue ran off, accepting that his other selves knew he was the most superior for the job.

In a minute or two, Blue came back with Purple who was actually leading the way. “Where’s Rae, is she okay? What’s wrong with her? Did Red hurt her!?” Orange put a hand on Purple’s shoulder. “Dude…chill out. We’re gonna go help her right now.

Yellow shook his head. “We still need Timidity.” Garfield looked a bit confused. “I’m guessing that’s gray?” Yellow nodded, proud Gar pieced that together.

“If Red got to him then he’s probably hiding in the woods still.”

Garfield took lead this time and they all ran back to the woods, Orange being carried by Purple and Blue who motivated by passion and bravery. They eventually made it back to the forest and could hear Red and Raven going back and forth. “If I’m right it’s been about 10 minutes since you first left Garfield so Rachel doesn’t have long.”

Garfield nodded and the six of them combed the forest surrounding the duel from the two Raven’s looking for Gray. Eventually Pink yelled out for them to come to him and they all did. Gray was sitting behind some bushes with his knees to his chest and his arms around them. He was dressed in gray from head to toe though he wore a hoodie with his hood up.

“I’m sorry guys…I didn’t want to make her mad and she said she would keep hurting us if I didn’t give her what she wanted….”

“Wait what did sh-“

Yellow was cut off by Garfield who helped his gray self up. “There’s no time. And we forgive you dude just come with us.”

The Garfields all ran back to the battle ground and looked at Rachel. “Now what!” All of them but yellow yelled out as he thought about what Red could’ve possibly wanted from Garfield himself.

As Gar ran off with Blue, Red opened her hands wide and grabbed hold of Rachel's shield, clapping her hands together to make it disappear. Red locked her four eyes on Rachel and sent the dark energy right back at her, shoving Rachel to the ground. Rachel made a quick recovery, lifting herself up from the ground and into the air, but it was enough time for Red to realize that they were now alone.

"Wanted me all to yourself, weak one? Or are you just jealous I'm all he thinks about now?" Red asked.

"You are the worst parts of me. How can I ever be jealous of you?" Rachel replied, lifting up nearby trees and hurling them at Red, who easily dodged them by flying up higher in the air.

"You're problem is you're too much like your mother. Naive. Stupid. Weak. That's why you'll never get rid of me, Raven. You need me, you always have and you always will."

Rachel rose higher after Red. "I defeated my father without you, with the help of my friends. I reversed the fate of the universe, the prophecy was fulfilled, then unfulfilled. Your role to be by my father's side is gone. He'll never come for you. I don't need you. No one needs you."

Red's eyes flared and she created a giant magical hand to grab hold of Rachel, but Rachel portaled out of the way, starting to get the hang of fighting herself. It was Red's turn to be on the offensive, tentacles shot out, swatting at Rachel. Rachel shot back, destroying the tentacles as they came.

Suddenly, Red stopped and started to laugh, her laugh a dark multi-voiced demonic laugh that even sent shivers down Rachel's spine.
"You needed me to save him. His pain became mine. If you no longer want my help, I'll just give it back." Red said before phasing away. Rachel looked around frantically for her, but found something else instead.

There, back on the ground, she saw a figure in grey curled up on the ground, eyes closed and shivering. Beneath the grey she saw the familiar green skin. "Gar!" Rachel shot back down to the ground to him. "I told you to get the others. What are you still doing here?" She reached out to touch him.

"I don't understand. Why won't you leave me alone? Why do you have to be so creepy?" Gar cried, flinching away from her touch. Rachel frowned, an old wound opening again.

"Gar, it's me. I'm not going to hurt you," She said, trying again to reach out. This time, he shot up and darted away, but Rachel grabbed on to his arm. "Wait! I'm sorry. I'm sorry I did this to you. I'm not trying to be creepy. I'm just trying to save you. Look at me, please? I need you,"

Gar shook as he slowly turned around to face her. Grey eyes stared back at her, realization hitting him.
"Rae! It's really you!" He looked scared again, eyes downcast. "I'm sorry. I'm the worst. I was just so scared. Now you're going to be mad at me."

Rachel was relieved that it was Grey and not what she thought it was. "Don't apologize. We don't have time. You have to get out of here and find the others."

"But I'm not done with him yet," Red appeared behind Grey and grabbed onto him. Grey squeaked like a mouse and covered his eyes. "This one's my second favorite. He's so afraid all the time. It tastes delicious."

"Leave him alone," Rachel growled, her eyes turning from white to four red ones, matching her demonic self. Tendrils flowed out of the bottom of her cape and surged forward, grabbing hold of the Beast Boy and pulling him out of Red's clutches without much trouble at all. Red let him run off, already over it.

"There's daddy's little girl. I knew there was a little of me still in there with you. Now let's practice using that power. Come on, try and take me down."

Rachel obliged, the battle beginning once more, only this time demon against demon. Tendrils swatted at each other, darkness blocked fiery attacks, and the ground shook upon impactful hits.

"I know what you're doing Rachel. You want all the Beast Boys to come together to defeat me. It would work, we're in his mind and when a mind is whole, a virus like me won't stand a chance. But look at what you can do with my help. Let go of your own fears, use the fear of others to empower yourself."

Rachel stopped her next tendril attack, gasping and drawing back into herself. Th red from her eyes disappeared. She didn't want what Red was saying. "I will bring you back to my mind, but as a prisoner, the gem held my father and it will hold you. I will never be you."

At the sound of Gar's voice, Rachel looked away from her opponent, a rookie mistake. Red shot dark energy at Rachel, sending her tumbling down to the ground, landing right by the enclave of Beast Boys. Rachel opened her eyes and found herself face to face with too many to count after a big blow to the head.

"Woah. Weird," Rachel commented, sitting herself back up and rubbing her head.

"So much fear, yet there's more to come. I will take what was given to me," Red said as she started to grow. Her hood fell off her head, revealing red skin and white hair. Rachel half expected her to turn into her father, but she wasn't. Trigon wasn't what Garfield feared. A giant Red Raven stood in front of them, smiling at them all as if this is what she had wanted all along.

"Remember how I said you'll have to face your fear," Rachel said. "You can defeat her, Gar, and once you do, I can put her back where she belongs. But you all have to work as one."

The Garfield’s gathered around Rachel’s body as and they crouched in a circle around their partner. “You should probably put some ice on that.“ Yellow suggested before Purple kissed Rachel’s injured head. “It’s gonna be alright Rae.”

Each Garfield gave their helping hand to Rachel standing her to her feet. Even Orange put his head on her shoulder as a sign of helping. They nodded at Rachel and grouped up in a circle, putting their arms on each other’s shoulders and leaning into whisper. “You guys ready for this?..”

Each and everyone nodded before there was a shining light where the circle had been. After a few seconds the light died down and there was a single Garfield standing with scorch ground marking where the others stood. “That was the coolest thing ever!” He felt brand new and replenished like these events ever happened.

Garfield looked up at the towering Red Raven and ran next to Rachel. “You know I think you might be a little too big to fight.” Suddenly the Raven shrunk back down to normal size and was still smiling. Garfield watched as the tentacles shot out at him and this time he became a large tiger, catching them in his mouth. He yanked Red forwards and put his paw on her chest. “What’s so funny? We win, you lose.”

It seemed Rachel was right about him becoming his whole self would result in an overwhelming victory because that was easy. Garfield kept pinned Red to the ground underneath his massive paw as he spoke to Rachel. “Now what?”

Rachel was a little sad to see all the Garfields go. She had seen the extreme of them being mad, sad, scared of her, so to have them all kindly help her up showed her that they didn't feel any of those things towards her, not really. It really was all this demon-business, which will be taken care of in just a few minutes. She watched all the personalities come together to form the ultimate Super-Gar of this universe.

Red didn't stand a chance. She shrunk on command and was promptly captured by the tiger's paw. Part of Rachel's mind was suspicious of just how easy it was and how Red didn't seem to fight it much at all, but she focused on the spell instead.

"Hold her steady," Rachel told him, shutting her eyes and beginning the incantation once again.

"Domini speculatoris orientis, domini caeli, domini flammae, aquae et terrae, conjunge spiritum Azarath. Pelle hunc daemonium in gemmam Azaris. Sume clavem et claude eam!"

Red Raven locked eyes with the tiger on top of her as the incantation tugged at her essence, a big smile on her face. Two of the four eyes winked at him as the final words were recited. Rachel opened her eyes and raised her hands up to trace around the cracked gem on her forehead. In response, Red transformed into red dust, floating into the sky and being sucked up into the gem. Once all the dust was inside, Rachel placed her hands over the gem.

"Azarath Metrion Zinthos." She released her hands from the gem, which now was completely mended, not a crack to be seen. Rachel sighed in relief. It was all over now.

"Nice work, Gar. I knew you could do it." Rachel said with a smile.

Garfield nodded his head while holding down the demon, making sure she didn’t move from his grasp. For a moment the Intelligent part of him was trying to think of what Red had wanted with Timidity as Rachel began chanting.

His thoughts faded from figuring Red out when she winked at him, which was slightly horrifying in terms of watching it happen, but it made him mad regardless. The tiger sneered with a low growl emitting from his throat. No way was she so cocky even as they were in the midst of defeating her with the ease they had.

Garfield felt his paw hit the ground after sinking in the dust that floated into Rachel’s gem. He turned back into himself and exhaled. “That was super crazy. I’d never knew we could go into my mind like yours.” He explained while stretching his back, retracting once his skin stretched on his scar.

It was clear this trip into his mind was a healing experience, with expelling Red giving him a fresh start again. “I couldn’t have done it without you…” Garfield said taking Rachel’s hand in his own and interlocking their fingers. It didn’t take long as he bumped hips with her. “Y’know after all that I’m starvin!” He stated with a playful overtone.

Rachel rolled her eyes, “of course your first thought demon-free would be on food.” She waved her free hand in the air, creating a portal above them.

“I think I’ve had enough of this place too. Way too much you to go around,” she commented, recalling the daunting moment of being surrounded. She floated up towards the portal, taking Gar with her. As an afterthought, she added, “Although purple was pretty nice.”

As suddenly as they were transported in were they sent back to Rachel’s room in her apartment. The mirror innocently laying on the bed in front of them. Rachel picked it up and handed it to Gar. “It’s your mind, you decide what to do with it.”

Rachel left the room so that he may decide, heading over to the bathroom to look at herself in the mirror. The gem on her forehead looked shiny and new, not a crack to be seen. She sighed in relief. Her demon was back where it belonged, always there, that’ll never change, but in a place where she couldn’t do any harm.

Whatever Red was working on didn’t work. Gar was fine, everything would be ok. Who knows, maybe they finally earned the right to be happy again.

Garfield felt a bit strange about leaving this place, even if his mind wasn’t to be toyed with it was a fun place. When Rachel mentioned Purple he smiled “Me and him are like the same so I guess that means I get a kiss too?” He teased before being handed the mirror. When she left Garfield stood there looking at the back of the mirror.

He turned it over to see a wild, primitive creature staring back at him. Garfield flinched, losing sight of the reflective surface and looked back at it only to see a handsome young man. Was that real or was it his imagination? Of course it was his imagination, the mirror led to his brain duh! What he didn’t know was Yellow used that as a clue, a representation of what Red wanted with them.

“This shouldn’t be left lying around, right?” He didn’t think to break it since they might need it again. The best place to keep it was definitely with the person he trusted most.

Garfield slipped it under Rachel’s bed for safe keeping and walked out the door, leaning against the bathroom frame while he spoke. “This is sweet! I feel way better now.” He explained while eyeing Rae. “Sooo…about that kiss?” He gave a goofy grin that paired well with his lively attitude and freshly rejuvenated mind and soul.

Rachel groaned, tapping her head on the bathroom mirror. “I regret everything. Now it’s going to go to your head.”

She took her head off the mirror and crossed her arms at him. He looked just like his old self again, full of life and ready to take on the world again. It was hard not to smile back. No, she didn’t regret everything.

“Listen, you. Just because I was momentarily charmed, doesn’t mean your charming, ok?” She said with a forced straight face. “I must have got knocked upside the head harder than I thought anyway.”

Rachel walked up to him, head cocked to the side, eyes locked on his. Purple was in there somewhere. She finally let a smile out and lightly pushed him aside so she can get out of the bathroom. “Yep. A lapse in judgement, for sure.”

Garfield put his hands over his lower face and tapped his lower finger, trying to think of a way to have this work in his favor. “But Rae, I can charm you a bunch.” He pointed out with confidence. When she walked over to him Garfield looked down, getting more nervous the longer Rachel looked him in his eyes.

He moved like a door when she pushed through him, but wasn’t prepared to give up just yet though. Garfield put his arm around Rachel and walked next to her, bending a little to reach her height. “Whoa whoa don’t count me out yet. I can totally be charming too.”

Even Garfield had a little doubt in him with that statement but stuck firm on the viewpoint…not for long though. “Maybe we could celebrate beating Red?” He said shifting the subject slightly figuring he should let it happen more naturally in the large chances he’d mess something up.

“What abooout…” He stood up straighter and rubbed his head. What would be a good way to celebrate. Garfield turned to look at the window and saw it was getting late. They had done more today even before the trek into his mind.

“Let’s go do something fun! We could go ice skating!” He suggested even though he had never been. It was a simple activity that they could perform even though it was cold outside and then they could eat afterwards.

Rachel rolled her eyes at his attempts to be charming, debating whether to gag, laugh, or simply appreciate the gesture.

“Ice skating? Really?” She had never been ice skating, nor did she understand the appeal of glorified walking on a slippery surface. However, she did know from reading and people watching that it was a thing couples did to have a good time.

They were due for a good time. Garfield obviously felt a whole lot better. The town house was only a few filled out forms away. Gem was secure. In short, why the hell not?

“Ok. Sure. Let’s go ice skating. Don’t look at me if you make a fool of yourself, though,” Rachel said. She phased down into the floor out of his arm and appeared behind him back towards her room. “Put something warm on! Don’t want you getting frost bite on the ice from all the times you’re going to fall,” she called as she went back into her room to put on more layers of clothing.

Rachel hummed a little as she dressed in her monotoned tone-death way. There was no doubt in her mind that she’d be better at ice skating than Gar. His attempts would be fun to watch, though. Good thing she had practice in not laughing.

A few minutes later she came out of her room, bundled up in her winter jacket and snow boots. “I think I remember seeing an outdoor ice rink by the movie theater,” she said as she walked out. “If you’re ready, we can try there.”

Garfield stumbled his next few steps when Rachel was suddenly sucked into the ground due to her own actions. He chuckled on his way to his bags “Yeah but if we’re falling together it’s more fun that way.” He yelled back, bending down and searching through his things.

He had to have packed a thicker jacket than why he’s been wearing before he just needed to find it. He then came across a black winter coat that was just what he needed along with some jeans and boots.

Garfield figured Rachel would be well prepared for the winter chill as well as he threw on a long sleeve shirt then the jacket. He was hopping on one leg to put his jeans on, quickly putting them on fully once he heard Rachel coming. No amount of mirror travel would’ve deleted the embarrassment of her catching him changing.

He nodded his head looking up from tying his shoes. “Uh do you think they’ll have food and stuff nearby? Or maybe we can just come home and order something.” It seemed the days of eating less was starting to get to him.

Garfield smiled and opened the door for Rae. “After you madam.” He bowed waiting for her to walk out before locking the door and joining her. He patted his butt pocket to make sure he wasn’t forgetting his wallet and took Rachel’s hand in his. “See? I’m charming too.” He teased.

Rachel groaned again at the charming remark. “If I told you you are, would you let it go?” She asked, shoving him playfully away but not letting go of his hand.

“I’m sure there’ll be something at the ice rink we can get so your not starving to death on the ice,” she said as they walked out onto the streets of Jump City. Rachel wasn’t as hungry as him, she never was, but she did go out with Kory for coffee and pastries. Gar only had the few cookies she brought home for him, so there was no wonder he was hungry.

Rachel remembered she still had to tell him what Kory told her. There was just so much going on there wasn’t any time. But not tonight. There’s always Tomorrow.

Speaking of the night, thanks to it being winter, the sun was already just about set, making the streets a little bit chillier than in the day. Besides that, though, it was a calm not too windy night. A perfect time to go ice skating.

The movie theater was on the way to the rink, and Rachel couldn’t help but think of their first day back in touch. The movie was ruined by Overload, she had been so afraid to use her powers just those few days ago.

Bringing herself back into focus, the outdoor ice rink was just coming into view. There were a few people already on the ice, some couples, a family of four trying to keep each from falling (or were they trying to push each other over?), and a little girl who made it look all too easy. Besides the rink there were food stands and tables for pedestrians to enjoy. Rachel squinted her eyes, trying to read the names.

“Gorilla Cheese, Phil’s Steaks, Dub Pies, Jolly Fat Pig, Cozy Comforts, and The Mac Machine. Interesting name choices,” Rachel commented.

Garfield strayed from their path when he was pushed and chuckled. It was good to see Rachel also enjoy herself after having to fight in his mindscape against her evil self. He pulled himself back to her and smiled. “Okay I get it, I get it.”

As they walked he found himself distracted by little things that normally he would block out. Being quiet would do that to him. The way the sun was already down, not knowing how long they were in his brain. The people around them seemed in rather good spirits, no cars honking, no road rage despite the traffic of employees trying to get home.

The night was live with Jump City’s lights and even the movie theater was back up and functioning. Overload was a big dude and destroyed a lot of stuff in the place but they had it back up in running within a few weeks. That was one thing Garfield loved about Jump City, there was no keeping them down for long.

Upon seeing the rink Gar’s eyes lit up, never before seeing it at night. There was music playing in the background on speakers that was loud enough to be heard at nearby restaurants but not so loud that it disturbed the environment. Thankfully it wasn’t snowing or they could rule out eating outside.

“No way I’m eating steak and I bet that pig place has meat too.” Garfield ruled out those two immediately. He raised a brow “Cozy comforts sounds like good food, right?” After getting Rachel’s input he pulled her towards the ice skate rental. “But let’s skate first!”

When they arrived the vendor was a teenager, working this job over winter break. “Welcome to the Rink, what size shoe do you both wear?” The boy seemed very bored and ready to go home as he didn’t even bother greet them and got straight to the point.

“Uh I wear a size…” Garfield bent down to check his tag before standing back up. “A size 11!” The boy turned around to get his skates, handing them to the green skinned hero. “What about you ma’am?…” The boy asked Rachel.
