Happy to play her as a woman, maybe have her as a princess and the entire fact that she is the Avatar is considered a negative by her family. They even try to hide it because they did want to attract the attention of the fire nation and needed her for political reason i.e. marriage. Her water bending master, maybe a white lotus member, notices who she is and tries to help her as best he can. Embolden by his help she rejects the marriage and the scorned lover collaborates with the fire nation to get at the tribe and her in return to be made ruler. Where this goes writes itself.

I’ll be the air bender, going on a nomadic journey between temples who can’t help but be worried about the war. So they instead help the avatar and friends.

My non-bender will be the son of an old Earth kingdom bladesmith who's made aware of the underground alliance between the Earth and Fire nations. With the morals of tradition boiling in his father, due to him being to old to make an impact, his eldest son (my character) is ordered to try however he can to stop the Fire nation. Travelling, fighting, rebelling wherever he can until he stumbles upon the group.

(Not sure what avatar we are going with now. So this is kinda just a working idea outside what adjustments will be made according to the avatar/starting point and etc plus still relearning the series and shaking off the rusty knowledge. But since everyone has shared I shall too....)

(Northern tribe exterminated?)

Yuu born to the northern Water tribe an orphan, he worked his way from lowly stature to relative prominence and respect. Utilizing a dedication to hard work and expanding his mind as well as his body, Yuu did well in his studies onto training as a Water bender where moved up through the ranks. Meanwhile during his teen years to young adulthood he developed a illness that weakened him to some degree forcing himself to work harder and find alternative ways to maintain his strength to fight by becoming more spiritual and open minded to alternative healing methods and more natural methods, all the while hiding his illness to the best of his ability to retain his presence and not be looked upon differently or treated differently.... the will and pride of him wouldn't allow it.

Tensions eventually grew as the state of the war and the decision reached and was seeming to become a reality was nearing, Yuu felt it only right to go against his people for the good of all and not allow this nation to be undone by fools looking to preserve themselves in what he saw as merely a short term save for a limited and soon controlled or destroyed people. No.... He looked back at his years in school learning history, strategy and all studies they taught, he saw a bigger picture that others seemed determined to ignore or overlook and would sacrifice their only hope of overcoming the fire nations strength in due time.

A proud, brave man with a stubborn streak about him, often overshadowing his gentle nature. Yuu took it upon himself to take the avatar away from the north before they could hand her over to the fire nation. Branded a traitor was a worthy brand to bare if it meant she was safe and the future was a tad brighter. He may have kept certain secrets to shield her from the knowledge and potential distraction of knowing she was the avatar, allowing her in his mind to focus purely on water bending and teaching her the best he way he knew how and doing what he could to preserve her spirit til such a time when she would need to and must learn of her true being of this generations avatar.

All the while his illness and regular cough he hides and merely claims it's a pesky cold he's been battling for days.

(Well worked in one of the ideas, but editing to fit whichever route we go I can do. Using the one idea thrown out just helped fill out an area that was still a wip for me with Yuu.)

Thanks! Depending on how things turn out plot and start and character relation wise and etc, it could be altered a fair bit. But seeing others ideas and convos about plots helped further him along. Out of laziness at the moment, rust of mind, what's the qualifications for a white lotus member? I can only remember Iroh from the lotus.

No real qualifications, but it's made up only of scholars, artists, Pai Sho players, and masters in certain other arts.

Hmm.... curious idea. Don't think he'd quite fit in, but he's fairly decent history buff wise and has some artistic ways if you consider his dancers side of him. Kinda poetic too. But overall may not fit still curious to learn more on, thanks!

We have the avatar, 4 bending masters, and a non-bender so far. There might be someone else, but I'm not sure. Not 100% sure on the whole "role" thing, either, that would be a question for TheFluffiestCat TheFluffiestCat since they started this.

So far we've only discussed lore, like worldbuilding, and reasons for each character to join the avatar.

Yeah, I read over most of it I think. From what I've gotten, the character are gonna meet up along the way, yeah? And the Fire Nation have also attacked in this world?

What if this all took place after the fire nation has attacked? Like, Sozin put all the other nations through a near complete genocide. Majority of the world is now taken up by fire benders and other benders are very few an far between. I feel like it would help drive the characters to help the avatar even more and make their connection stronger. 'Cause, "Where else am I gonna get an air bending teacher? This guy's a blessing!"

But, if all of that is too different from what people wanna do, I get it. Just thought it would be more interesting to go through a different type of plot than in the original.

I'm down to talk about the idea, but I'd rather wait for the others to get on since they're also a part of the process (especially the main GM).

Agreed. I'll be on for a while longer tonight, then I'll try to hop on tomorrow evening.
I honestly prefer the scenario we had. For repeating "roles", im not sure about that, but maybe we can find something for you that isnt exactly repeating something we already have?

I must concur with the others. Another comparison I'd make is like Star Wars the last Jedi era and leaves little left of Avatar to make it plausible to build on. Just my two cents though. I also liked the other scenario we had previously quite a bit.

Since this seems to be the general consensus, I think we're keeping the scenario we had. Also, we should probably get to the CS skeleton since we have a good amount of people and a plot decided.

So for a CS, i think we need the basics, like Name, Age, Apperance, etc.

Then maybe personality, definetly a backstory. Also maybe kingdom of origin?

Should we make a own part for Combat, where both, bending abilities and styles can be mentioned as well as non-bending abilities? For bending abilities, since we have the masters to an avatar, i´d assume they are quite capable? Maybe not on their peak, either having surpassed it or not yet reached it, but in terms of potential?

Name, Age, Appearance, Personality, Backstory, Kingdom of Origin, Combat Abilities all seem perfectly sensible. As for their skill in bending, it's fair to assume that they're not at their peak since that'd be a little OP for the beginning of the story, so I like that. Other than that, maybe we could add an Equipment section that says what they carry on them, and a "Role" section that says what they are/were before going on their journey (princess, general, teacher, etc.).
