Tyra
Socially Awkward Jelly Bean
--- Merged Double Post ---
Horns honked and cars whizzed by, the city quite a bustle as it was rush hour. Great crowds of people roamed the sidewalks and crossed the streets, which made it the perfect time to blend in. Stepping out from an alley onto the sidewalk, Tyra pulled the hood of her jacket more over head in an attempt to conceal her face. She walked at a casual pace, her gaze facing downward, so as to not attract attention. However, she couldn’t help herself and stopped to peer in a bakery window, the scent of freshly made bread and scrumptious treats torturing her heightened senses. No, she couldn’t… She hadn’t had a run in with Gemini agents in an entire two weeks, but that didn’t mean she could sit back and relax. She was a fugitive, and the sooner she got out of the hectic city the better. Constantly, she felt as if there were eyes everywhere, seeing right through her disguise. Gemini was becoming more intelligent and cunning every day, finding new ways to plant its eyes and ears in hidden places no one would ever think to look. But she was so hungry…! She winced and held her stomach as it protested loudly. It’d been a few days since she’d used up the last of her food supplies. Sooner or later, she’d have to restock, which meant walking right into Gemini’s line of sight. Growing into a powerful organization, it now had control of all food sources throughout the city. Tyra groaned a bit as hunger clawed away at her insides. “Shh, can’t you just be quiet?” she spat, looking down at her stomach. Sighing, she tugged her jacket closer about her and forced herself to continue walking. In a few hours, she was supposed to meet with her contact here in the city. Maybe…just maybe she could find a market to at least get a snack if she was going to be here until then. Spying a market not too far down the street, she hastened her pace and cautiously ventured in, keeping a sharp eye out for security cameras. She hurriedly scanned the canned food isle, her light feet making almost no sound on the tiled floor. However, she could almost tell something wasn’t right. There were barely any people roaming the store… Stuffing a few cans of soup into her bag, she beelined right towards the exit and had almost made her way out when a familiar buzzing sound met her ears. The sound of a plasma gun charging… She barely had time to look when the bright red streak zoomed past her head, just barely missing her, and collided with the door, melting its pane of glass almost instantly. Tyra had no time to think. Taking a deep breath, she rammed into the other exit door, flinging it open. Her hood flew back, revealing her cascade of light blue locks, but it didn’t matter now. It had been a set up. The sixteen year old girl barreled down the street, shoving people out of her way as she scrambled to elude the men in black, who were now in pursuit.
