Thankfully, Cayde got past the search with no problems, though there was still one Skaven-sized issue right beside him. After they came in together, Cayde thought Kesh would've split up and gone and done her own business, but she insisted on staying. Furthermore, Kesh even asked if she could rob the church, earning a sigh of disbelief from Cayde. "Wha- do I look like a thief to you?" He retorted in a hushed tone, " And no, you can't rob Mira, the church, or anyone for that matter! I don't even know why you'd be asking me this." Cayde couldn't believe she could discuss robbery so casually, especially with a complete stranger! He'd only met her a few minutes ago, yet Kesh talked as if she had known him for years. And what was with her thing with alchemy? Cayde wasn't sure if she was doubling down on his lie or if she was genuinely interested in the trade, but it'd be hard to connect with someone who just asked for a good place to commit thievery.
Luckily, Ceylan came to the rescue and pulled Cayde away from her, though he had some questions too. It took a minute for Cayde to register what Ceylan said, notably the parts about cultists and leading a monster out of the city, but ultimately, Cayde heard his concerns, "No, no, no, Ceylan, It's nothing like that! She's not blackmailing me or trying to be my friend. It's just-" He murmured, pausing to take a peek over his shoulder at Kesh. He continued, with a soft groan, "Look, you saw what those guards did to those folk heading out the village. I didn't want to start another needless confrontation, so I might have said she was my apprentice," He admitted meekly, "I-I didn't expect her to stick around or try patting you down. I thought she'd just, y'know, leave when she got through!"
Cayde sighed and whispered, "If she's just here to rob people, she'll probably just break away. I've barely any Rykes on me, and the only thing I have is my equipment and some materials; there's nothing for her to take." He drew away from Ceylan and gave him a reassuring nod of his head, though, underneath his mask, his face showed some uncertainty. With that said, Cayde turned to respond to Mira, "Sure thing, Mira. Just lead the way."
Cayde would take another look behind him, but he'd divert his gaze away from Kesh and to a blond, armored woman behind her. His eyes immediately shot to her face, studying her scornful expression, and as a dreadful realization came to him, he gulped. Had she seen through his lie? Did she think he was a thief too? Cayde felt a wave of nervousness surge through him. Just why was she glaring at him?
He cleared his throat and awkwardly shuffled over to her, "Oh, hello, miss, you're coming with us too?" He asked, hesitantly offering a hand to shake, "Then it's best we get to know each other: I'm Cayde Whitinger, and you must be...?"
