Aquatic Discovery

"That's not really necessary..." Aria assured her "I'm fine with staying here if you need me to." Certainly, there were more advantages to staying here than disadvantages. The largest being that she didn't have to worry about predators such as sharks here.

"I took your out of your natural habitat. It's not exactly very ncie of me in order to keep you here." She sat down, sighing. She'd hoped with her heart that when mermaids came out of water they grew legs. It was a myth, yet it'd make her life on land so much easier.

Aria looked down. Acacia was right, she was still technically kidnapped. She wondered if the silly thoughts weren't that she'd grown attached to this place so quickly, but that she'd attached herself to it so strongly that she already preferred it over her original home... This thought depressed her, and this showed on her face. She didn't know what to say anymore.

Acacia lifted her back up and into the tank, "I'm sorry, I didn't mean to say that." She laid Acacia bck into it and then made sure hte wter settings were fine. She looked up, "If you want, we could attach something ot you that'd trakc your movements.'

Aria uprighted herself and looked at Acacia. She honestly didn't know what to think anymore. Was it wrong to want to stay? Was she actually being selfish by declining Acacia's offer to take her back to the ocean? These thoughts continued eating at her mind, and worst of all she didn't have an answer for any of them.

Acacia sat down and then laid down on the cot, ignoring the wetness and just laying there. She yawned and soon her mind gave out from says of continually going at this. Aria watched as the human fell asleep.

Aria being left alone to her thoughts, she let herself sink to the bottom of the tank, onto her stomach. She considered everything that happened, and whether or not she was being reasonable. She should want to return to the ocean, but something - Some kind of invisible link, was the best she could figure - held her back. She remained like this for a long time, simply consumed in her thoughts.

Acacia woke up after af ew hours, yawning and feeling refreshed moer than ever before. She smiled to herself and then turned to the tnk, noticing how Aria was lying. She blinked, "Aria?"

Aria, herself, had drifted off to sleep as well. She was still in the same position in the tank, lying at the bottom. Her mind had started to wander, and before she knew it, she had fallen asleep.

She checked that Aria was still breathing before she smiled and sat down beside the tank, humming a little tune as she began to keep taking notes.

After a while, Aria's eyes fluttered open. Yawning and rubbing her eyes, she flicked her tail to send her upright "Mm... Oh, hi Acacia. I must've fallen asleep or something too."

Aria nodded "Sure." She replied as she swam up to the surface, reaching out for Acacia to grab onto her.

Acacia lifted Aria out and then got an idea. She laid her on the cot and called "I'll be right back!" In a few minutes, she came in with a wheelchair, smiling, "This way you can move on land."

Aria tilted her head at the object Acacia just brought in "What's that?" She asked. It didn't look... Comfortable, for someone of her body type.

She leaned the back of the chair down and helped her into it. It was specially made for people with broken legs, so her tail slid smoothly and comfortably into an intention. Her back was leaned against the chair and arms on the wheel, "there!"

(My cousin has one, he's paralysed in his left leg)

Aria sat in the odd device. It was surprisingly more comfortable than she thought it'd be "Where did you get this?"

Aria was once again surprised. She had no idea the Humans made things like this! This was unimaginable up until now... A thought crossed her mind "There are Humans who can't move their legs?" Aria asked as she tried wheeling herself around.

She nodded, "some are born that way, sometimes they break their bones and can't move them." She smiled, walking up and helping her adjust, "there, better?"

Aria nodded "Yeah, thanks. This is... I don't even know what to say..." Aria said. She was still amazed that this existed. With this, so many possibilities opened up...! She could actually explore the surface world! Before, that prospect seemed impossibly out of reach, but now it didn't seem nearly as much anymore.

She smiled. "If they allow me, I might take you to my home. You are a human, and I have a large pool you can swim in." She walked to the door and opened it.

"Really? You think they'll let you?" Aria asked. She admitted she may be getting a bit too excited about this, but she'd never seen a Human home before. She was curious about what it would be like.

She gave a swift nod, "I think so, they might as long as I say it's for research. It'll benefit you to explore the surface world." She smiled and waved for Aria to follow.
