Apocalypse.

Pausing for a second to make sure the bullets where in the magazine properly, Roland finished reloading his pistol and continued shooting. "I guess you could say that. It has been seven years. I was twelve when it started. I didn't even know what was happening. People where attacking people. All the roads where jammed full of cars. Death. A lot of death. I don't really know how i even got out of there. I just started running and never looked back. After a few years you just kinda get used to it." After he finished talking, he moved back to reload once again. Roland only had one magazine, as he couldn't find anymore of the right kind. "Alright. Move away from the window a bit more. They are getting a bit too close."

Nodding she moved back, pulling the gun out and swigging it to her left side as she walked over to the bag. Crouching down she searched for some more bullets, counting them out on her palm in the other hand. "Long time t-to be alone.. didn't you ever find anyone else?"

Looking over to him for a moment ,she stood back up. Sliding the bullet into place as she headed back to the window. Keeping in mind to keep her distance as she aimed another shot.

As the horde hit the building, they grew experimentally louder. The metal bars scraping on the metal rails that hold them in place making a loud squealing noise. "Yeah. I met a few people here and there. None are alive anymore though. People start to let their guard down when in larger groups, expecting others to pick up the slack." Roland told X. His past wasn't exactly the brightest, as expected of someone who was living in the apocalypse. Yet he always seemed to manage to put one foot in-front of the other and keep walking forwards.

As the pair fought the horde at the front of the house, a certain zombie with well above average intelligence wandered around the back. The strange zombie, often just called a smart zombie, grabbed the bars at the back of the house, and started inching it sideways, unlike it's brethren who tried to just push through it.

Wincing at the noise she moved away from the bars a little more as she continued to shoot down the zombies whom got closer, making it less likely for her to miss her target at the closer range. "Well.. y-you're certainly head strong for some who has dealt with so much. I-I don't think someone like me c-could handle losing so many...Let alone one.." 'I'd probably get too attached' She thought, while quickly moving back as she grabbed another handful of bullets and moved back to the windows, quickly resuming aim.'Heck I'm already afraid that I'll h-have to leave'

Shaking her head of those thoughts she glaces over to him "S-so how long until the sun comes back exactly? " instead thinking about how different it was here.. or at-least it felt that way.

Bishop almost started laughing when he heard what X said. "Dealt with it? I've been running away from it since day one. But now? I'm kinda tired of running. I know it sounds stupid. An entire world covered in zombies. But i want to clear out the city and block it off one day. You know, make it a haven for those who are also tired of running. It would properly take me my entire life, but i don't exactly have much else to be doing." He told X. Perhaps it was the fact he hadn't had a real conversation in over a year, perhaps he just needed someone to validate his stupid dreams, but Roland really had no clue why he was telling X so much, expectantly when he tended to be quiet for days on end. Mainly because there was no one to talk to.

As the pair where talking, the smart zombie had almost gottern the bars out. Once it had, a loud bang could be heard behind the pair. Before either could even react, the smart zombie was already through the window and charging the closer of the pair, who happened to be Roland.

As Roland turned, pistol already up, the zombie lept at him, pinning him to ground. His pistol went flying out of his hand. One of his arms where pinned to the ground, and the other holding that zombie's head away from his neck. The zombie's spit and saliva being spat all over his mask. "Shit! Help!" He called out to X while trying to keep the zombie from biting him.

Smiling a little she looked over to him "That sounds r-really sweet.. I'm sure heaps of people would love to escape here... w-without the zombies that is."

Jumping slightly at the sound she quickly turned looking panicked for a moment and looking to Roland.

In the quick moment that followed she re-asses what was happening 'Shooting it would be waay too risky' She didn't trust her aim enough, let alone risk shooting Roland. Her gaze flicked between the two for a moment before her gaze hardened.

She placed down the gun and swiftly moved behind the zombie, her dagger sliding down the soft fabric of her shirt and into her grasp. With a quick flick of her wrist she slit its throat. She moved her hand back and pierced the dagger through the back of the zombie using the support to fling its body away from Roland. 'Oh my gosh.. i-I didn't just -?'

Blinking a few times she wiped her brow with the back of her arm before reaching one hand down to Roland. Although they were both visibly shaking as she slides the knife him her pocket with the other before offering them both to him to stand. "W-Well t-that w-was intense h-huh?"

After X had killed the zombie, Roland lay on the ground for a few moments, breathing heavily. "Th-thanks." He told her as he wiped away some of the spit and blood from his gas-mask. Taking the offered hand, he let himself be helped up. "I think i am going to jump into the reservoir tomorrow." He told X as he quickly looked around for his pistol. Finding it, he quickly picked it up and made sure it wasn't broken or anything.

"To answer what you said before, it's still early into the night. So we have a long time to wait yet. But once these guys are dead, then we can get some more sleep." He told X. Annoyed with his disgustingly dirty mask, he took it off and threw it to the side. "Would you mind putting the bars back on the window dear?" Roland asked as he walked over to the horde, still trying to get through the window, and shot a few round into them from close range. The closer range allowed for each kill to only take one shot.

"N-Not a problem.." she replied, wiping her hands and knife on her jeans. The goo however merely absorbing into the fabric with a small florescent goo patch appearing before quickly fading. 'That sounds like a good idea..'

'Great..' she thought scratching at her arm lightly before grabbing the metal bars off of the floor and sliding them back into place. Shoving them hard to make sure they would stay put. Carefully not be be grabbed by any stray arm as she moved away from them to pick-up the discarded gun. She glanced over at his mask for a moment before sliding another bullet into place and taking a place at another window across from Roland.

Soon the pair had defeated the horde, and gotten a small amount of sleep before the sun came up back over the mountains and the first rays of dawn. "You up?" Roland says, slightly louder then normal to wake X up encase she isn't. They had a full day today, and it was best to start soon. They had no food, little water, and next to no ammo after last night.

Roland was waiting by the front door for X to answer him. His plan was to grab the water jugs and trolley from the small shed. Use the trolley to transport the jugs of water to and from the reservoir. Luckily the road that way was in good condition still, so it would be rather easy. Just a long trip. An hour there, and hour and a half back. Perhaps thirty mins of so of swimming and ten or so of filling up the water jugs. The water should last roughly two weeks between two people, so it wasn't a trip that had to happen often.

Although she had slept a little the tremors she had,had caused her to wake up rather early and she sat watching the window and fiddling with her badge.

Hearing his movements she placed the badge carefully back on her shirt. At his question she turned her head slightly and spoke in rather soft tones "Yeah..I'm up. Y-you,uh 'sleep' well?" watching his movements for a moment she pulled off her jacket and dragged over her satchel placing it folded up inside.

She slide it over her shirt careful not to hook it on the badge before looking at her leg. 'Completely forgot..' Looking down at it she decided to leave it be for now, she was confident it was ok but it be easy to remove it later. Getting to her feet she dusted off her legs on her pants "S-so what's the plan?"

"Barely any." Roland told X. After that horde attack he could barely close his eyes without seeing the maws of the zombie right in his face. "The plan for today is a long and hard one. First, we need more water. So we get to go to the reservoir. Then we need more food. After that we need some chains, some more metal, and some locks. I am going to make it so that the bars are locked into place. It will take longer to put them up and take them down, but after last night, it will be worth it. Just let me grab the water jugs and trolley and we can be off."

After finishing talking, he went around the back of the house and opened the shed door. Inside was an old motorbike with a wheel missing and half an engine, a shovel, and a trolley with a bunch of empty water tubs on it. Grabbing the trolley by the handle, Roland slowly pulled it out onto the road. "Ready to go?" He called out to X.

"Got it" She made a mental list and grabbed her knife from its sheath sliding in her sleeve again and feeling comforted by the goo sticking slightly to her skin, which thankfully stopped it from moving up her arm.

She walked over to the door and waited nodding as he came back and shut the door behind her. "Ready.."

Nodding at X, Roland started away from the city, headed out to the reservoir. It would be a long walk, but an uneventful one. With a horde dead, there shouldn't be any real threats around for a while. Zombies tend to stick together, so when a horde is defeated, there seems to be a gap until the next one is seen. After a while of walking in silence, the pair came to a very large hill. It wasn't that steep, just long. The way up was very uneventful, other then the occasional grunt of effort. But once they got to the top, Roland did something rather strange. He got into the trolley.

"It's quicker to ride down this hill. It cuts about ten minutes from the walk." He told the girl, offering his hand to her to help her into the cart, while keeping it steady with a leg on the ground. "You can walk if you want, i'll wait once i'm at the bottom. But this is a lot quicker."

She continue'd to fiddle with the badge, occasionally as the walked. Placing it back on her chest as he had stopped, and looking at him quizzically.

Looking at his hand and the hill and then the trolley she nervously accepted his hand and being rather slender fitted herself behind him without much trouble. Curling her legs to her chest, her hand on her arm tensely although not scratching it. She then sat there silently, 'This is nuts' she thought looking at the bottom of the hill however a very, very small part of her smiled 'Although..i-i-t might be fun?'

Roland smile as X took his hand and got in the cart. He remembered the first time he did this. He thought he was insane, but didn't really care. He thought it was a better way to die then being eaten. As it turned out, the trolley was rather good as keeping upright. Pushing with his leg, the pair began to roll down the hill. "Hold on dear." He told her. They moved slowly at first, but they quickly gained speed. The empty jugs rattled in the back, but stayed on. Using the handle on the front to keep them from crashing into a tree or rock, the pair rolled quite a ways beyond they hill, saving plenty of time. Though part of it was rather bumpy, overall it was a smooth ride. Well, as smooth as riding in a trolley gets, so not smooth at all.

Once they had slowed down to a turtles speed, Roland stepped out of the trolley and offered his hand to X once again. "So, how was that?" He asked, a smile playing on his lips.

She gripped the her left hand on the bottom of the trolley and the other was tightly holding her left arm. On the way down she stayed silent, although inside she was mostly screaming.

Her hand was almost white from how tightly she had held the trolley. She looked at him her eyes almost fearful for a moment before accepting his hand with a shaky grip.Looking back up the hill she just stood for a moment before responding. " It- It wasn't uh t-that bad I guess?" she couldn't really find words to answer him so she continued to stand there focusing her gaze on the hill. Her hand resting on her neck while she stood close to shock. 'n-Not gonna accept that offer again..' she thought turning to face him with a still pale face.

The first thing that Roland noticed was how pale X had gotten. She was already pale, but this was on a totally different level. Not to mention she was shaking like a leaf in the middle of winter. "Hey, you alright?" Roland asked as he put his hand on her shoulder, worried that he had frightened her. He knew that he was a bit reckless, who wouldn't be after playing with death so many times, but this girl was different. She didn't remember anything. She didn't know what the different kinds of Zombies where. Didn't know anything really. She was just thrown into it and left alone.

"I-it's..- I'm ok, d-Don't worry." She look up to him nodding, she couldn't continue to worry the man. On top of that feeling of his hand on her shoulder made her self conscious and tense under his touch. She politely moved it off as she reached into her bag to grab her jacket. She grabbed her badge gently off her shirt before putting her jacket back on,and clutched it tightly in her hand. Mustering what strength she could she willed the worry out of her mind and eyes.. "S-so where we heading next?"

Bishop's worry for the girl didn't cease at all. He had willed his own fears down plenty of times, hell, he was still doing it each time he stepped outside, so he knew what she was trying to do. But he didn't press the issue. X would either tell him with time, or won't. There is no point in trying to push it. "We haven't changed where we are headed. The reservoir is just up ahead." He told her as he continued to push the trolley.

The pair quickly arrived at the reservoir. It was a giant concrete wall holding up an immense body of water, basically a man-made lake. Since no one was here to man the controls, the water often flows over the top and into the river down below, so it was not safe to walk across. But lucky the filtration system was on this side, so they only needed to walk other there and fill up the water jugs from the tap connected to it. "Here we are. Don't drink the water in the lake though, it's nasty."

Nodding, she began walking beside him, her head down as she fiddled restlessly with her badge. Occasionally muttering things to it such as 'Stupid' or 'Useless'

Looking up from the badge and sliding it into her satchel instead on putting it back on. She looked over to the water. Something about watching the clear essence calming her frazzled nerves. "Hm, o-ok then." she said quietly, slightly entranced as she watched the water.

Roland began pulling the trolley over towards the water filtration building, but as he did so, he called out to X. "You can have a swim if you want. It will be a bit cold, but after that trip i imagine it would do a world of good." Roland knew that he needed to jump in. Pulling the cart so far had made him work up a sweat, and the way back will be worse. Not to mention that his clothes where still covered in zombie blood. His plan was to jump in fully clothed, then take them off once they where clean and relax in the nice cold water.

Once he had pushed the trolley to the filtration system, he began unpacking the water jugs and filling them up. While they where being filled, he looked over to X to see what she was doing.

She walked over to a dry and safe looking chunk of ledge near the water. Observing it for a moment before deciding taking a seat. Resting her legs up on the hard cement, she pulled off her jacket and slid her satchel off placing her jacket inside again. She stared at the waters surface for a bit, her hands laying on her leg.

Tearing her eyes away she looked down at her leg and proceed to carefully unravelled the bandages. She then rolled her jean legs up, inspecting her leg and flexing it experimentally. "Hm, Clearly it wasn't as broken as I thought.." she mumbled aloud, moving her legs slowly above the water before gingerly dipping a toe in. "h-how odd.." she whispered, moving her middle toe around the new substance. Her foot was rather flexible, in fact she had control over each toe, rather like a hand. Wiggling them she flicked the water, taking a few deep breaths as she relaxed. "T-This isn't s-so bad..." she breathed placing her foot it carefully and continuing to just rest.

Soon the water jugs where filled up and ready to be packed away, so Roland did just that. He then pulled the trolley back over towards X. To him, it didn't seem like she was going to be jumping into the water anytime soon, so that meant he could leave the water with her and not worry about it being stolen. "Hey. Enjoying yourself?" He asked, mainly to start up some conversation before asking her to watch the water. After she had answered, he asked her to watch the water. "Would you mind watching the water while i take a dip and cool off?"

Snapping from her relaxed state she tilted her head, cracking it before turning around and pulling her feet out of the water. "Huh? Oh.. y-yeah..It's n-nice.." She moved her self round completely and pulled her jeans back down, reaching a hand into her satchel and slipping out her jacket followed by a pair of thin fabrics. Sliding the jacket on she opened up the fabrics and slipped them on her feet.

"Y-Yeah sure" she stood up, and walked over to the trolley standing guard beside it.She reached back in her satchel and continued to fiddle with the badge, glancing up occasionally at him and the water.

Roland laughed lightly at the girl. "You didn't have to stop because of me. Just keep an eye on it occasionally." He told her as he walked over to the edge, took out his pistol from it's holster, and sat it on the ground. After doing that, he dived into the water, producing a small splash. After a few seconds he re-emerged from underwater. With his shirt now clean from zombie blood, or as clean as it will get without soap, he quickly took it off and threw it up near the cart, long with his jacket. "Just relax and have a bit of fun!" He called out to X as he begain to swim away from her, towards the center of the reservoir.
