Fantasy Anything Goes

He lit a fresh cigarette and sat down again, lounging with one foot propped on his thigh. "Well, that all depends. You said you had a handgun, right?" First, he'd teach her the basics of shooting. If he was truly going to go through with this, he might as well teach her to defend herself, in case they got separated.

He got to his feet and stepped out into the front yard. "Go get it. I'll teach you a few things." He said as he unholstered his Glock and began to remove the suppressor, gently twisting the metal cylinder as he waited for her to join him. The sub-compact pistol was barely larger than his fist, but he prefered small handguns in certain situations. He was one of the few who did not believe in a "perfect weapon" that could do it all, and he kept a wide variety of weapons to emphasise that point.

Victoria nods and walks back inside. She goes into her room and opens a drawer in her dresser. She digs through her clothes until she finds the gun. She closes her dresser and goes back outside.

He took a drag of his cigarette and gestured for her to stand beside him. "How you stand doesn't matter. The biggest thing is to relax. Don't think. React." He explained as he demonstrated a basic shooting grip. "Hold your hands just like I am. One on the grip, the other on the bottom of the gun, like a coffee cup."

He kept his eyes forward, focusing on the sights of his pistol as he continued the demonstration. "Let's not get into that one right now." He replied as he sat down and leaned backwards, keeping one leg slightly propped up and both his heels dug into the dirt. "See how I'm laying? It's not always smart to stay on your feet. Sometimes, you have to lay down to stay hidden or behind a solid object while you're shooting."

Victoria giggles slightly. "You look like James Bond." She clears her throat and tries to be serious again. "I'm sorry. It just crossed my mind."

He smirked at the idea as he tried to picture himself in a tuxedo. "A sense of humor's a good thing, y'know. Hang on to that. You'll need it."

((I gotta take off for a bit and run some errands, but I should be back soon.))

Zodiac found himself on the ground. His head was buzzing with amnesia and pain as he looked at his surroundings. He noticed he was under the same tree he was Yesterday. He raised his palms to his face and felt it. He still didn't have his mask. With a sigh of relief, he stood up and bean to walk toward the centre of town. He head a massive headache that clouded his vision. He decided to rest on a bench to let the headache subside but Zodiac already saw the sidewalk coming upward to meet his face.

Hunter had been moving through the tunnels for almost an hour (to him at least) and and avoid deadly darts, a pit of baby serpent hydras, a giant bolder rolling after, and was finally at the chamber he was looking for, it was large with three statues in it, two being humans holding swords one big mad of white marble the other made of onyx, this surprised him as these swords were what he was looking for, but didn't expect to find both at once, the third statue was of Orthus, Cerberus's two headed sibling. The blade with the marble statue was almost snow white with hilt having cross detailing that was made of gold, the onyx statue's sword was the exact opposite of the first with a blade that looked like it was made of pure darkness and upside down crosses made of ebony on the hilt, the only thing they hand in common was the aura of a primordial they both released. Bringing the case he grabbed from his backpack earlier he opened it open and pulled out both swords from the statues, getting a surge of raw power as he touched them, they both shrunk down to a dagger as he pulled them out 'That's useful' he thought as he put them into the case confident the runes within it would hide the aura of both. As he turned around, with the case in hand, he came face to muzzle with the Orthus statue, which became animated at some point, "uh, hi?" The blonde said to the angry statue sheepishly, jumping away as it snapped at him, and ran faster than he thought possible with the stone hellhound right after him dodging the traps all the way "WHY ME!?" he shouted.

Shinu spent the majority of the afternoon and evening teaching Victoria the basics of shooting and defensive tactics. People didn't turn into trained killers overnight, but the girl did have talent, and he applauded her with every success. Once he felt confident that she would be alright, he instructed her to go inside and find comfortable, loose clothing with plenty of pockets. "Black or grey. Deep dark blue colors are good too, but don't mix and match. Pick a color and match everything to it." He told her as he re-laced his boots. He'd taken time between lessons to modify her handgun to fit a suppressor, and built one from spare parts and material he had on hand. It wouldn't last very long, maybe one full magazine at most, but it was better than nothing. As he sat on the porch and finished a miniature cigar, he checked his pistol one last time. If he was going to take her with him, he had to be at his very best, in case something went wrong.

(5 hours working a church dinner is exhausting.)

Victoria steps out onto the porch, clad in all black. "Will this work?" She asks. She didn't like wearing all one color, but she expected she wouldn't be seen anyway.

He nodded approvingly as he rose to his feet. "Perfect. Now, you'll be following me, so you won't need a bag or any extra gear." He said as he approached her, inspecting for anything he might not have thought of. Her gloves were tightly fitted, her shoes were of good quality for climbing and running, and she'd done well to cover her face. She looked ready. "Now, I want you to promise me two things." He said as he began to tie the shemagh around his head.

Victoria nods and pulls on her gloves. "Okay." She was beginning to get nervous, but the feeling was overcome by adrenaline.

"Number one, like I said before. Do exactly as I say, without hesitation. And number two..." He said as he finished securing his head scarf. With a confident look in his eyes, he locked his gaze with hers and handed her the pistol, now fitted with the homemade suppressor. "Only shoot when I tell you, and only aim what you can kill. One shot, one kill. Ready to go?" He wasn't about to deny that he was nervous, but something told him they would be alright. No one had been in the store for two days in a row, which was strange, but he felt confident.

He turned and pointed towards the center of town with a serious look in his eyes. "We're going to the bookstore. And we travel on foot, so no one knows it's us." He said as he started walking. He couldn't help but wonder if tonight would be the same as before. He wanted something solid, some real evidence to work with, and he sincerely hoped tonight would be the night he discovered the owner of the mysterious book.

He nodded and quietly bit his lower lip. "Yes. That's where I've been both nights. I'm looking for a very powerful book, and I think I know who owns it. But I need to be sure before I do anything." He explained, hoping she wasn't upset by the news of his activity.

He pondered for a moment before speaking. "Remember yesterday? The black haired wolf that attacked you? That was my brother." He explained. "This book reminds me of him. Its energy is dark, and powerful. I want to know who owns it. If it's in good hands, then so be it. If not, we do what needs doing."

"What if we get the book? What are we going to do with it?" Victoria looks at the ground, knowing she shouldn't be asking so many questions.

"Figure out what's inside, what secrets it has. Destroy it, if we have to. So it doean't fall into the wrong hands, or corrupt us." He said as they reached the edge of town. "Time to go to work. From now until we reach home, we keep silent, okay?" He said as he took her hand in his, drawing his pistol with the other. Keeping to the shadows, he led her through the town, stopping every so often to listen and sniff the air, in case there were any followers or unwelcome visitors in the area.
