BETH HARMON
Beth believed him. She knew she believed him but there was still a part of her that was hurt by this, despite there being no reason to be. She loved him, and her love for him was driving her insane. She was acting in a way she had never acted before. Sure, she'd struggled some after her moms death, but this... this distrust, the need, and how she ached when he was away... it was so different. She didn't fully know how to comprehend it yet...
But the disappointment in his eyes made her shrink slightly. She should have told him what was going on, but she was embarrassed and that trumped what his thoughts may have been toward all this. When he pulled her in, she loosely draped her arms around his waist and rested her cheek against his chest. He hadn't been gone long, but she'd almost forgotton the smell and feel of him. It almost made her anxiety dissipate, "I was embarrased... By this, what's going on has been for a while... Which was why I was working so much. And I didn't want to burden you. Not when you could have... literally anyone. You're handsome, talented, and you have money. I have nothing to offer back... I just feel like a burden sometimes. Especially whenI see tabloids of you and women who would probably be a better pairing..."
She finally laid the truth out. It hurt, but at least now he knew and now he could make his choice. "I... I love you. And I'm coming to terms with that, because I'd never loved anyone before. I've never depended on anyone before. And not just physically, but emotionally. I miss you so much when you're gone. I swear my uncles yelled at me twenty times because of the glasses I've broken when thinking about you." The comment was more light hearted - enough to make her giggle a little and look up at him. "I missed you so much." She said quietly, her eyes roaming over his face.
