An Earthen Lament
- Genres: Dark Fantasy
Posting Expectations: Adept
Players: 3 - 5
The village of Hleów is a strange place to turn up.
The marshes and swamps of southern Lerenthia is a dangerous place to travel to. However, as much as it is filled with strange magicks and stranger people, there is opportunity for independence should you need to find it. The eye of the knights of Lerenthia are far enough away you can feel a certain assurance that you can be free from persecution as long as you don’t offend the local denizens. There is no presence of the Divine Order nor is there of the King’s personal justicars. If you are an illegal mage or unfairly prosecuted one, it might seem like a good place to lie low. If you aren't, it is a good place to look for opportunity.
And that opportunity, among other things will surely rear its head soon. - An Earthen Lament is a dark fantasy roleplay in the vein of Dragon Age: Origins and The Witcher. It is a world that will be generated as player and GM involvement dictates, though the style will be dictated through the darkness that permeates throughout the setting. Staples of the setting are pretty cut-and-dry at the moment. Magic is heavily restricted and dictated by the religious wing of the current monarchy otherwise known as the Divine Order of Kings and Knights. The people of Lerenthia get more superstitious and wild as you go further south toward the frontier and marshlands.
General fantasy races exists such as dwarves and elves, but they serve in similar capacity as in the World of Dragon Age. Anything else will be explained periodically or be generated through discussions and plotting. Player Characters should be characters who either fled the northern provinces for their own reasons or ventured into the south for profit.
Anybody interested in a "build-it-as-we-go" dark fantasy setting? Questions, perhaps?
