Realistic or Modern Age of Vikings (Always Accepting!)

She scoffed, "too much mead last night" a laugh slipped her lips, "it was starting to make me ill, and the noise of the hall, I just needed some quiet" she watched him carefully, "she was very pretty, Agnar would be lucky to have her" she forced a smile. She paused listening to him speak, watching him move to the rock, "The water has helped, I am feeling a lot better" the cold finally nipping at her toes and fingers, "I don't suppose you would keep your eyes the other way while I get out" she blushed, "I would have gone further away for this, but I thought everyone would be in the hall" her hands collected her hair to one side of her neck, swaying in the water.

"Ha! you think you drank a lot?" He scoffed. "I passed out on the street, I drank so much." The man bellowed. Astrid soon moved on to speaking of the wife Agnar had been presented. "Yes, he would. Not to mention her high status would help our earl out very much." Magnus sighed, watching Astrid in the water. She was simply breathtaking, as her fair skin contrasted beautifully with the dark water. She spoke of getting out, but the cool water seemed to beckon, along with...other things. Maybe it would help with his hangover as it helped Astrid with hers. "Heh, of course. But I hope you don't mind me stepping in as well. I won't try anything, I promise." He smirked, stripping off his shirt without waiting for an answer.

She stayed in the water as he got in, watching him cautiously, after the way he acted with the slave yesterday she was keeping her distance. She slipped out of the water, making her way to her clothes, she dressed quickly, wrapping herself up in her cape, purching herself on the rock he once sat. "What was the battle like?" she asked, she had been absent for it, her skills as a shield maiden were nothing compared to her knowledge as a healer. She collected her hair again to one side, running her fingers through it as she watched the skies.

@John Raptorfist

The water was sharply cooler than even he had expected, it chilled him to his bones, but his head soon began to clear. He treaded water, as Astrid perched herself on the rock he was sitting on just moments ago and asked about the battle in England. "It was...quick. That one slave girl who you were talking to last night. She was a real nuisance." He said, with a tinge of annoyance when speaking about the slave girl. "Wasn't much of anything, to be honest." He mumbled, closing his eyes and floating on his back.

@Sharkiee

Astrid gasped, "Curses, I forgot about her" she pushed herself off the rock, "What sort of healer can I be if I forget about my patients" she muttered, she looked up at Magnus a playful smile across her face, "Thank you though Magnus, for checking on me, I'm sure you enjoyed what ever you saw" she waved, she turned to walk back to the village stopping to turn around after a few steps, "You can walk me back if you're quick" she spun around again walking slowly back towards the village.

@John Raptorfist

"Sure did." He smirked jokingly when she said 'I'm sure you enjoyed what you saw'. He closed his eyes once again. "Go ahead, I'll catch up in a bit." Magnus floated in the dark blue water for a while more as she walked away, hearing the soft breeze rustle through the pine trees and the loons emit theirs eerie calls over the still water. After this moment of utter peace, the man dragged himself from the cold water, hastily slipping his clothes back on and jogging down the path. Soon, Astrid came into sight and Magnus fell in behind her about fifty seconds later. Slightly out of breath, and still soaking wet, he spoke. "I told you I'd only be a bit."

@Sharkiee

"Water was amazing this morning" she stretched as she walked, her hair still dripping wet. She watched him from the corner of her eye, "what is your deal?" she spoke, "I mean... why are you so angry all the time?" she frowned recalling how he was in Merica, on the boat and how he was in the hall. "I have yet to meet a man more angry and violent than you" she turned searching his face.

They got closer to the village, it appeared that whatever had been going on in the hall had finished, she had stoppped by the wharf again, awaiting an answer from Magnus.

He smiled slightly at Astrid's question, though he didn't really know why. "I...I honestly don't know. Maybe I was raised that way." He sighed, becoming slightly more somber. "Maybe it's because the gods hate me. Everything that's ever happened to me has turned out being disatourus." His gaze shied away as she looked at him. Magnus realized he was acting like a kid, and looked her back in the eyes. "Maybe because I'm just an idiot." He said with a shrug.

@Sharkiee

She laughed, "Ok Sir idiot, I need to find that Slave girl, I mean Azura" She looked towards the hall, "it's cleared out now, I'm sure Agnar won't mind if I tend to her" she drifted forwards towards the village as she spoke, "do you have any idea where he keeps his prisoners? or um.. Slaves" she dwelled on the last word.

@John Raptorfist

Azura banged on her door as she heard voices. "I am NOT in here." Azura yelled from behind the door. She now lay face down in her straw bed, feeling hungover.

Magnus lightly punched Astrid on the shoulder in a joking matter with a chuckle, though he was now lingering on the time he had gone on a raid with his tribe. The name suited him, 'sir idiot'. "Azura, eh? That's her name then?" He said with a bit of bitterness in his voice. Astrid asked where Agnar kept his slaves, and Magnus had to think for a second. "Hmm...I think he has a room off to the side of his own where he keeps the slaves." He yawned, stretching his arms. "This may sound strange, but you remind me of my last wife in some ways."

@Sharkiee

She let out a grunt and he lightly punched her shoulder, her face switching from a smile to a look of sorrow, "your wife?" she swallowed,

"what happened to her?" she asked looking at him with wide eyes, she never knew he had a wife, but it explained his recklessness. Her eyes shot up to the sound of Azura's voice, she took hold of Magnus's hand leading him towards the sound.

@John Raptorfist @DarknessSpirit

"Uh.." His voice shook ever so slightly as he spoke, Magnus had never really shared this with anybody before. "I had just returned from a raid into Rus, in which many men, including my father died in an ambush the Slavs set up. A handful of men and I made it back to my village, but...but it was torched by some other clan. Everybody was slaughtered..." He tried to hold the tears back, he couldn't look like a child in front of Astrid. Clearing his throat, he began to speak once more. "My mother...my wife...my unborn child...all dead." He spat, as the red-hot anger began to churn within him. "Her name was Auslaug. She was my, joy and my light. All to be some man's axe-fodder?! There is not a day that goes by when I don't ask the gods what I did to diserve that." He spoke, shakily. "She was like you in a few ways, actually. Mainly your voices...strikingly similar." But soon, he was being pulled along by Astrid, so he followed.

@Sharkiee

She stopped and turned to Magnus, her eyes welling up with tears, "The gods can be unfair" she breathed her hand catching a tear as it escaped down her check. Forcing a smile she looked him in the eye, "Odin needed them more than you did, they are now feasting in Valhalla" her eyes locked with his. She pulled herself back, catching her breath and drying her eyes, she turned again making her way towards the hall.

@John Raptorfist

Wiping a stray tear off Astrid's cheek with his thumb, nodded solemnly. "I think you're right, thank you. The gods may have something in store for me." Magnus said, clearing his throat once again as they walked towards where Azura was. "How about we talk about something else, huh? Something that doesn't bring back bad memories." He suggested, thinking of something causal to speak of. "So...What do you think of Agnar?"

She shurgged, "Agnar is our Earl, he is a great man" she smiled, watching as the people around them got on with life, a couple of kids ran ahead of them playing tag, her eyes watched them as they danced around, "he would be happy with his new wife, I assume he agreed to the Earls offers" they continued through the hall doors, her voice dropping to a whispers worried of Agnar being in ears reach, "He would make her very happy" she said finally, "So where will I find her?" she pulled her satchel to her front digging around for some ointments.

@John Raptorfist @DarknessSpirit @JacobLoL

"Aye. He must carry on his line, after all." Magnus grunted. He sometimes thought of Agnar as a little bit too perfect, but he was his earl, and that was all Magnus needed to know that he was loyal to Agnar. As Astrid was rifling around her pouch for something, she asked where she'd find Azura. Magnus used his seax to point to a room across the hall, blocked by a thick, wooden door. "I'll just wait out here. She'll probably not be to glad see me anyway...and I doubt I'll be glad to see her anyway as well." He said with a sigh. "Well since I told you that story, I think deserve a reward. Maybe...I don't know...a quick kiss from a beautiful woman?" Magnus said with a wry grin, slumping down outside the door to Azura's room."

Astrid blushed at the request, she leant down, kissing him softly on the cheek, "your wife was lucky to have you" she smiled then slipped through the door, "Azura?" she called as she closed the door behind her, she squinted through the dully lit room, "are you in here?" she spied the girl in a ball in the corner, a smell of booze mixed in the air, "by gods girl, we need to get you cleaned up" She crouched to her side.

Azura groaned, her hair was poorly redone, her nails were dirty, as was her skin, and smelled like straw. Azura looked at Astrid and grimaced "I haven't taken a bath since Mercia" she said semi hoarsely, she looked hungover from the night before.

Astrid frowned and turned back towards the door popping her head out to call one of the slaves cleaning the hall, "Please can you bring a bucket of water and something warm of mine to wear" she smiled as the slave nodded at her and disapeared outside, she returned back to her side, "let me check your wrist please, I need to put more ointment on it so it can heal faster" she reached for her wrist watching Azura as she did.

Azura rolled her eyes and held out her arms "Not like I can do much else." She watched her for a moment before blurting out. "Okay I've gotta say it, is it Magnus or Agnar, or do you love them both?" She asked slyly.

Her eyes widened by the sudden out burst, "What are you talking about?" she felt her face flush, a knock at the door meant the bucket was here. She got to her feet and let the woman in, she placed the bucket next to Azura and a cloth to clean herself with. As she left she handed Astrid a set of fresh clothes, she thanked her and shut the door, "Asura, I do not think either of these men concider me as a likely wife, one has already had an offer today, the other is still grieving the loss of his own wife" she shifted awkwardly, glancing around the messy room. She placed the clothes down by the door, joining Azura's side again, rubbing a sage ointment along the scab of her wound, "Shall I give you have bathing?" she smiled.

@DarknessSpirit

Azura looked at her with raised eyebrows "Your a good healer but a terrible liar Astrid. Agnar politely declined the marriage offer and Magnus is just a peice of shit in general." She said looking at her nails. "Not playing favorites." She added. Azura looked up "Bathe me? You've got to be kidding." She says in disbelief.

Astrids heart leaped slightly hearing he declined the offer, "I am a great liar..." she pouted splashing the water around with her hand. She laughed her eyes watching Azura "Magnus has his moments, he is a viking, it is how they are" she handed her the wet cloth with a grin, "Is that not what you Saxon do, in your fancy castles?" she recalled stories told by previous slaves. She turned sitting with her back to Asura, "you won't get your own privacy til you settle down" she spoke calmly, "I won't leave out of fear you try drown yourself in the bucket" She teased.

@DarknessSpirit

Azura laughed as she mentioned her drowning in a bucket, "Oh Shutup!!" She shouted playfully Her laugh sounded weird to her, it was empty, hollow, she hadn't laughed for real this time. Azura's voice started to less hoarse and more normal again, her Bulgarian accent starting to return stronger and stronger. She looked at Astrid scoldingly "Moments? Riiiight. Just really long, 24 hour every day moments, right?" Azura said somewhat sarcastically. She raised her finger "And I've only been a castle once, we bathe ourselves." She said matter of factly with a grin.
