Fantasy Aether: The Age of Light OOC [being rebooted]

Found this video while watching youtube. Really interesting, and it talks about how people would usually walk up till about the 1500's.

there's a whole channel that breaks down medieval stuff from how they fought to what weapons they accurately used. it's all really interesting especially since i love writing my stories in realistic kind of settings to offset the fantasy taking place. much like what we are doing now :)

I too like writing realistically. But I am going to have to restrain myself from nitpicking every scientific error at times so as to not ruin the fun and etc.

oh, yeah. you definitely have to restrict yourself. I mean, it's still fantasy. and nitpicking just makes things unfun.

Aether as a whole is far more advanced than a standard medival society. The Church also educates a lot if people.

Some handy channels worth looking into for those who enjoy injecting some realism into their fantasy. I like the first three especially because they actually think about what would work in fantasy environments from a historical perspective. I.E., what medieval fighting style/weapon would actually suit a typical fantasy dwarf/elf/etc, or how would the existence of magic and/or mythological creatures (i.e. dragons or griffons) affect mundane medieval things like castle sieges. They also tend to do very in depth analyses of popular fantasy tropes in TV and novels, like how fantasy castles tend to look compared to real ones or how the military tactics shown in a Game of Thrones battle scene (for example) compare to tactics used in real battles throughout history. Very interesting stuff, if you like taking books, TV shows, and video games way too seriously for your own good like we all apparently do.

maybe i should've tagged Dalamus Ulom Dalamus Ulom cuz the i would think the this incident would get back to the "King of Thieves"

hell, now that I think about how rare mages actually are, this is gonna end up being the talk of the town... unexpected consequences

Working on and off on the post for 12PM, but we got plenty of time. Might do a NPC sheet for the King as well.

Seems that you've raised the ire of the Spiders, and every other thieves organization in town. Eyes will be watching, lad.

Yeah, I think I'll resign from this roleplay lads; I'm too far behind at the moment and ye see to have a good flow with the roleplay as it is; sorry I didn't get involved sooner!
