Advent Online ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Following the disasters of Sword Art Online and Alfheim Online, the world seed was released. This allowed anyone to create their own virtual worlds within the Virtual Reality System. Two months after this release, a new controversy arose. Advent Online was the most advertised game since the seed was released. It claimed to be a Sword Art reboot, promising that all the bugs were fixed. The biggest selling point was the fact that the game had expanded with multiple new game modes and quests. Also, because of the seed, it allowed for greater user customization. With all of these positives, does it seem too good to be true?

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Unique Overview:

A unique is typically one quality, weapon or ability that is given to a player from an unknown source. Usually gifted, the effects begin to take place as soon as the email in-game is closed out of. Acting almost like a virus, players cannot escape a unique from affecting gameplay. There is a .002% chance for a player to obtain a unique after killing a random enemy. This leads to an extremely low level of player having uniques in-game – only two players can share the same unique as well.

  • Two weapons at once. Combo possibilities are extended. These characters are known for their relentless offensive prowess.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Style Overview:

Styles are set abilities, given to every player from the beginning of the game. Each player is allowed to have two styles, and can activate these styles as much as they please. There is a cooldown reduction of three to four posts between each use of styles, which last up to five posts. Each player can use both styles at once if they please.

  • Fire Style

    1. Passive: Flame aura surrounds user throughout duration.
    2. Weapon is enveloped in fire at all times, allowing for use of fire projectiles as well.

    Shadow Style

    1. Passive: User is invisible to the naked eye throughout the duration.
    2. Shadow tendrils grow from the spine. Attacks and projectiles come from those.

    Lightning Style

    1. Passive: Lightning encircles user's frame and weapon throughout the duration.
    2. Lightning can be summoned at will from the sky or weapon.

    Energy Style

    1. Passive: User’s body turns to pure energy, disintegrating anything that comes into contact.
    2. This style entails a lot of energy-based projectiles without any hand-to-hand capabilities.

The
1st Floor of Aincrad is geographically the largest floor. It is almost completely circular with a diameter of 10 kilometers. The 1st Floor is roughly the same size as Saitama Prefacture Kawagoe City. The main settlement on the 1st Floor is the Starting City, but there are also numerous other towns and villages on this floor.

  • The Town of Beginnings

    The Crescent Moon Pub

[*]The Purple Forest

[*]Tortuga City

The 2nd Floor of Aincrad has a generally mountainous topography. The terrain is rocky, full of hills, and not particularly diverse. Most of the landscape is predominantly flat-topped mountains, which are topped with lush green grass. It is primarily inhabited by large ox-type monsters. The main settlement of the second floor is the town, Urbus.

  • Town of Urbus

The
8th Floor of Aincrad is a forest-themed floor.

  • Woodland City

The
22nd Floor of Aincrad is one of the most sparsely populated areas in Aincrad. Although it is one of the lower floors, with around 9km in diameter, most of the floor's surface is occupied by lakes and forests. Monsters only seldom appear within this floor and even the Labyrinth on this floor had a very mild difficulty. The floor is also known for not having any Field Bosses, unlike most of the other floors.

The
24th Floor of Aincrad is a limnetic floor mostly covered in water.

The
25th Floor of Aincrad was a floor that was exceedingly more difficult than the 24th Floor, possessing abnormally strong monsters, complex topography and was thus the site of many deaths in Sword Art Online.

The
27th Floor of Aincrad is a floor of perpetual darkness, with very few openings in the exterior of the floor, meaning that no sunlight shines in the floor even during the day. The floor is rich in ore items, therefore, the floor was popular among the artisan players in Sword Art Online.

The
35th Floor of Aincrad is home to the Forest of Wandering and the Christmas event boss, Nicholas The Renegade.

  • The Forest of Wandering

The
47th Floor of Aincrad is a garden-themed floor and is therefore nicknamed as the "Flower Garden".

The
55th Floor of Aincrad is a geographically varied floor and is the floor where the Knights of the Blood Oath headquarters is located later in the game.

The
61st Floor of Aincrad is a lake-themed floor which was nicknamed as "Insect Land" due to its abundance in bug-type monsters and was the equivalent of hell for the majority of women in Sword Art Online.

The
74th Floor of Aincrad is a mostly hilly floor and the 2nd to last floor to be reached in the original Aincrad before Sword Art Online was cleared.

The
100th Floor of Aincrad is the final floor. When the players reach this floor, the game is completed.

  • Name: Akio Masure

    Sex: Male

    Age: 17

    Username: PanifestDestiny

Engineer's sentry shot down yet another Scout trying to steal the intelligence.

It was a regular Friday evening after school for Akio Masure, playing on his PC and putting off any homework he was assigned until Sunday evening. He set up a dispenser, took a swig of soda, and sighed. As much as he loved the hat collector that was Team Fortress 2, he had a craving for a different genre. An MMO, perhaps? No, those weren't fun anymore.

Ever since the VRMMO seed was released, and people weren't getting trapped in them anymore, games like WoW and Rift were ghost towns. What he really needed, and wanted, was a Nerve Gear helmet. He had begged his parents for weeks upon weeks, and his birthday was nearing close. He had a feeling he might get one then, certainly not from his parents, but his siblings or aunt might pull through. But the waiting was very hard. There are only so many times a person can play through games like Portal 2 and Ocarina of Time before they get a bit old.

A knock was heard from his door, probably his Mom telling him to to go to bed soon. Akio goes idle and opens the door. "Yeah Mom, you don't need to-"

It was his Aunt.

"Auntie Yuka?" He was confused. His aunt never came up to his room, despite her being the most understanding of his weird technology passion.

"Hello, dear." She said with a bright smile. "I know your birthday isn't for about a week, but I wanted to give you an early gift. Your parents would be furious if they knew I gave it to you, so I have to do it in secret!"

Oh my god.

She didn't.

She couldn't.

She fucking did!

Item Obtained Nerve Gear:

A virtual reality headset, used to play one of the most revolutionary genres of gaming, the VRMMO. it even has Advent Online, a remake of Sword Art, installed as a tie in! Neat!

"NERVE GEAR?" Akio was overjoyed. "Auntie, you're amazing!" He hugged her incredibly tight. "It's all I've ever wanted! Thank you so much! I've got to try it out!" He knew that Advent online, the remake of the horrible trainwreck that was SAO, was installed in every Nerve Gear, similar to tie in games like Super Mario 64 or Sonic The Hedgehog.

The old woman laughed. "I'm glad you like it. I expect to be repaid in full cash, you know." She joked to him.

He gave her a kiss on a forehead and ran over to his bed. "I need to give this a try right now! Sorry to leave you, Auntie, but this is too fantastic to resist!" He was like a small child on Christmas day, overwhelmed by the new bike he got from Santa.

Auntie Yuka nods. "Enjoy." She said.

That was the last he heard of her.

Character creation. So many options! He made the character look similar to himself, but also a lot cooler and better looking. This was what he always did in games like these, it was almost his persona away from persona. He put in his stats, skills, everything was fine tuned to just the way he liked it. The last step in the process appeared. His Username.

That was an easy one.

Known widely online, be it Roleplay forums, Steam games, even on Miiverse, by the name of PanifestDestiny, or "Pan" by his closer friends. He had a strong interest in American history, and the phrase of similar name (MANifest Destiny :P ) had always stuck with him. The idea to fulfill your destiny and explore the unknown!

He was ready to do just that.

Aki looked around her room. She stared at the gear she had on her table. It had been a while since she had gone in. She left off at lever 1, just to meet beginners. She sighed, running her hand though her hair. She wanted to start back up again, but she was just a bit afraid. There was always that nagging fear in the bottom of her mind. The fear of never coming back, the fear of never seeing the light again. The fear of disappearing among the pixels.

Picking up the old helmet, she looked at it. She knew the machine like the back of her hand. The way it fit snugly on her head, the way the world seemed to fade. The way you felt light as a feather. She sighed, plugging in the chords. She placed the helmet on her head. She took one last glance at her room before lying down and saying.

Lumiere
  • The Purple Forest - Floor 1

Striking crimson hues would take a backseat to closed eyelids, the seemingly-sporadic movements of Lumiere's fingers promptly clamping down and shutting out the breezes of air that could possibly escape through any possible avenue of the Ocarina he was playing. Resting on a branch high up into the air, leaning back against the rather thick trunk of a large tree would be the young man's form, hidden away from the ground below. The Purple Forest, as the location was named, had actually been the first real wilderness located in Advent Online after the first town that users are spawned into. Lately, there had been an adequate amount of reports on bandits who had been making their end's meat by ripping off new players who traversed the area, or recruiting them. Not one to be so happy about hearing that his new home had been plagued with such players, Lumiere traveled from his purchased home in a town named Tortuga City, located in the middle of the map, to check out the issue while possibly gathering some purple flowers which were indigenous to the area.

Really, the flower was only used as a spice for food within the virtual reality video game, but it was delicious - something nice to have in case any visitors ever made themselves comfortable in his abode. Though it hadn't happened yet, Lumiere didn't expect to continue playing the game solo for too much longer. The weather on the day in Advent Online happened to be fair in the first district, fairly sunny with high winds. Something that didn't bother Lumiere so much, anyway. As he continued playing his tune, which contorted to various volumes consisting of multiple pitches at a whim, Lumiere's ears would pick up something from a decent distance away. Luckily enough, his listening ability was more than accurate and leveled enough to pick up the vibrations which traveled through the air into his canals.

The direction was directly below him. Continuing to play the Ocarina at a subconscious level, the prowess of his ability to play the instrument would dumb down to the most simple state it could. Leaning his body over, eyes would catch on to a sight that was quite pleasing to the occuli connected to his brain.

Three men, absolutely bandits. One woman pleading with them to leave her alone, a new player judging by her attire and body language. She had been easily intimidated by the men, allowing for an easy target. The thing about starting players, was that their inventory usually withheld a decent amount of value when sold in TOTAL. New players were often stripped down to their underwear and sent off as so, when bumping into such men. The first man, or leader of the trio, had been a rough-looking man with a large spear and choppy black hair. The other two were dressed just as appropriately, one being a man wearing a red bandana and holding a bow, while the other held a broadsword.

The entire group of people below could hear him. Lumiere knew it. Moving the mouthpiece of his Ocarina from his lips, the playing of the instrument would stop. No one seemed to care about this, much to the delight of the young man, who would return the instrument to his inventory. The grisly-leader was getting pretty close to the female below at this point, threatening her life with shouts of how he was going to murder her repetitively after the first time unless she did what he said now. That wasn't even possible in the game, of course, but ... Bad people tended to lie on all platforms and mediums. Kind of a negative quality to begin with, so it usually goes hand in hand. Not all bad people lie all the time, they just often did in order to get what they want. Basic logic! Why would bad people care about decent morals?

Lighter than a feather, Lumiere would get up to his feet, standing with complete balance on the branch he had been sitting on. It wasn't thick enough for both of his feet to rest on side-by-side, so they did so - one after the other. The female had backed up against the tree's trunk, after falling on her behind. The big man was grasping the spear on his back, getting ready to use it without hesitation. Moving to the tip of the branch, Lumiere let his body fall forward, free-falling from the top of the tree toward the ground as a result.

Twisting his body as he neared, Lumiere's feet would hit the ground between both the bandit's leader and the girl, generating a bit of space in the process. Bending his knees as to resist the shock his body could have received from the height of the fall, Lumiere knew to shift his weight so that nothing was damaged in the process. A bit of leaves, grass and air would lift off the ground immediately around the soles of his boots as a result of the landing. Taken back slightly by his appearance, the spear-clad man was surprised, thus stomping back a couple of feet into the two men behind him. Lumiere slowly rose to his feet, crimson hues staring into the angry face of the leader without saying a word.

The two men behind the leader asked if they could handle it. With a green-light on their request, both of the lackeys moved from the shadow of spear-man, one aiming an arrow at Lumiere's chest while the other came immediately running toward him, even hopping into the air and preparing to bring his broadsword down onto Lumiere's head.

The arrow was fired as the sword got close in distance from above. As quick as the entire scene was, it ran extremely slow in the eyes of Lumiere, who began easily breaking down the process of how he would maneuver out of the situation with minimal complications. Realizing the arrow would hit him before the sword, Lumiere waited until the arrow got close enough. When it did, Lumiere ripped the Katana from it's sheath, causing the bottom of the hilt to smash into the arrowhead and redirect it's momentum upward. The tip would bend violently upward, piercing through the neck of the archer's teammate above him.

Lumiere took two steps to the side as the male who hit the ground showed off an HP bar with no juice left. His body disintegrated into pixels which rose into the air, to be picked up by the proper Advent authority-guilds upon his revival. The archer shot two more arrows. Walking forward, Lumiere quickly swiped at the air, cutting both of them in half and killing their momentum in one go. Upon seeing this visual, the man with the bandana's face would contort into one that was reminiscent of the painting known as 'The Scream'. The archer began to run away, frantically shouting as if he was about to endure a horrible fate, which he undoubtedly was.

"RUN! It's actually him!"

Both tears and mucus that accumulated within the man's nostrils would seemingly release immediately in the process. The leader watched as the man ran as fast as he could, with utter confusion scribbled upon his visage.

Joanna

During the duration of her day in school, all Joanna heard about was the new Advent Online game. In the hallways and classrooms, every one of her fellow classmates were praising it with ardor, exclaiming how they couldn't wait to get home to try it for themselves. Though she didn't show it amongst her friends, she was also excited to play it once the day was over as well. Joanna wasn't the one to waste her precious time and money on games such as these but hearing how the prior game was, that being of Sword Art Online, and the constant persuasion of her best friend to just give it a try; buying it was inevitable in her perspective.

After bidding farewell to her group of friends and a few classmates after the last lecture ended, she had taken a backroad to her apartment to stop at a local store that sold the proper gear for people who played SAO and now the new AO, though the items were obviously limited for reasons. Luckily, the shop owner was a friends of her dad's so with a few mere words, Joanna was able to put an Amusphere on reserve along with a copy of a game with a discounted fee. Upon reaching the store, the girl fixed her bag on her shoulder and pushed the door open, being welcomed with a light buzz and a smile from the owner.

A few minutes had passed from conversing and catching up on the miscellaneous and Joanna wished the owner a good night before exiting the store, finally making her way home with her new equipment hugged close to her chest. Her phone had buzzed in her front pocket but she didn't think anything by it because it was most likely just a friend asking if she was home or not. All she cared about was getting upstairs to try out this new game everyone was wetting their panties for, even if it was just a 'reboot'. Walking a bit too quickly caused her to bump into one of her neighbors whom was exiting the entrance and almost drops those of valuable certain importance. Luckily, the man had sharp reflexes and was able to catch the copy of the game before it hit the floor with a laugh.

"You're going to play this too?" he asked her and she merely nodded. "Man, you must be lucky to get copy," Placing the game in her extended hand, he smiled at her and moved out of her way. "Enjoy it. I heard it's suppose to be a blast from my mates." Joanna whispered a soft 'thanks' before walking past the other and hurried up to the stairs to the floor her
apartment was on. Looking around for her keys within the bag, she founded them buried under a lot of crap and pull them out with an index finger, unlocking the door. She closed the door with her foot afterwards, throwing her keys on the couch before near the door and slipped her bag off no where particular.

Forget about homework and forget about people calling, now was her time to try AO out once and for all. Joanna returned to her couch after everything was good and set, sitting with a sigh. She adjusted herself to lay down and held the Amusphere above her, staring at it for a moment before slipping the device on her head. A rather snug fit. She remember people mention that you had to say a certain phrase for it start or else who would be looking like a fool, staring into darkness. Was it
start? No. Turn on? No, that was just silly. Just then, a lightbulb clicked on in her head. Of course, the only phrase that could work properly was:

"Link Start?"

The technology turned on then and it was certainly a whole new experience for her. It welcomed her briefly before asking her what the username would be. For personal reasons, she couldn't just put her real name so instead, she had entered
Grace in the appropriate place. Then, it was the character creation time to shine and with fine detail due to perfectionism, it was done. She couldn't wait to start actually start playing.

Inori/Ina~

  • Name: Inori Honda (Ina)

    Age: 17

Occupation: Concert Pianist and high school student

Wheeling herself out of the metro, Inori wheeled up the ramp next to the stairs, carefully maneuvering around the people. A soft breeze hinting at the start of summer rushed past, pulling out a few strands of long chocolaty brown hair out of the neatly gathered side pony tail. Brushing away the fringe covering her eyes she moved along with the mass of people. Large baby blue orbs scanning the rapidly darkening sky, a few fat droplets of rain hit the pavement. She would have to hurry back to the apartment complex she shared with her sister. Upon reaching the door, her tucked in square white blouse and flowing pastel green skirt were drenched, and the shivering girl hugged the small plastic bag containing Advent Online to her chest, before unlocking the door. Since her younger sister was out with friends, Inori flicked on the lights of the dark and quiet house. After both her grandparents had started living in the nursery home, their father had bought them a new apartment along with a few pieces of furniture. While her sister was still a little too young to work, Inori worked as a part time musician, performing a few jigs a week at certain restaurants to help pay the rent.

Passing her beloved piano, violin, and viola, she headed to her room. Pulling herself off of her chair she sat down, lugging her limp legs up with her. Staring at the NerveGear sitting on her book shelf. This would be her real return back to the VRMMORPG world. Though she had been in Alfheim, she hadn't done much, fending off a few enemies and obtaining quite a few monster drops. Her light blue orbs stared at the game.

Lunging in to attack the back of the Skull Reaper, she watched in horror as those around her fell, and then their forms shimmering before exploding in a cloud of holographic polygons. Taking turns stabbing the Boss, she watched as Kirito and Asuna fought as a team. Striking at it's tail, Inori noticed too late that the tail was whipping towards her, the blow surely would kill her. Right before it hit her, a player jumped in front of her. "Veronica?" She had been her faithful friend to the end, the last of Inori's friends that had survived thus far. The girl smiled before disappearing in a cloud of polygons. "Veronica?" Inori whispered again-

She had been there, fighting to clear the game too. Clearing her head, she put on the Amusphere, "Link Start!"

Luckily, she was able to skip all the player info and creator, as she was transferring her current avatar, stats, and skills to this one. In a second, the bright vibrant artificial sunlight filtered through Inori's thin eye lids. Swaying slightly on her feet, she unconsciously smiled, it had been a long time since she had stood unassisted. Breathing in deeply, the girl's avatar looked around, the flowing red material swishing as she turned. The familiar bustle of the <<Starting City>> brought an ache as her thoughts traveled back to Sword art Online. Shaking them off, her long fingers wrapped around her almost painstakingly accustomed dual swords. One of them had been forged from a light purple crystal while the second one made from a black iron, both narrow and heavy straight swords. Walking in the opposite direction of the town she was in, she was off.

A flurry of pixels surrounded Pan.

It was like he was flying, a truly amazing experience. He opened his eyes and saw that he was alive. He was in another world. Looking around, he noticed a bustling town around him, many other players filled the streets, excited to start their new journey.

"So this is the town of beginnings..."

He was amazed. He could walk, talk, eat, run, jump, do anything that his regular body could do, and possibly more! He takes a look at his starting gear and is fairly satisfied with his results.

"An axe, armor, HP potions, some gold, and a brewing stand..." He remembers back to his class/profession choices, and these seemed like valid starting items.

Pan sees all people of many different shapes, professions, and specialties. Some seemed more experienced than others, but they all seemed to be thrilled at playing this breathtaking game.

The player checks his inventoer and counts his balance. "1000 gold... Perhaps I could buy some better gear with this?" He runs off to the merchant section of town, looking for things to improve his stats. He was only level 1, so anything could help him. After some browsing, he managed to haggle with some merchants and buy a couple items within his price range:

Items Obtained! 1x Mythos Blade (Level 2 BattleAxe) [7 dmg] -200 gold

A weapon that has a 25% chance to sear the opponent, giving a 15% boost in damage!

3x Rat Tails (Potion Ingredient) -125 gold

3x Blue Dust (Potion Ingredient) -125 gold

These ingredients are used to make Potions of Mana, or magic points!

Gold remaining - 550

Happy with his newly bought items, he discards his starting axe, as it has no value to the merchants. Pan then sits down on a bench, trying to fiddle with his newly acquired brewing stand.

I plopped onto my bed laying face-up. Thinking about how boring today was, and how everyone annoyingly caused everything to have an negative effect. Girl asks Guy out, Guy rejects Girl. Girl cry's to her friends, her friends laugh about it behind her back, or pity her behind her back. Guy asks different girl out. Other Girl turns him down because of the First Girl. Guy gets upset and tells HIS friends. The cycle repeats over and over, day-in and day-out. Sighing, I grabbed my Amusphere and put it on smiling, happy that I had an outlet to show my true emotions. "Link Start!"

When he had opened his eyes again, he was back at the tavern, where he often finds people he either helps, or tricks. Or both, shaking his head a bit to focus, he scanned the room and saw some players which looked somewhat strange. "PK'ers..." He whispered to himself as he walked towards them with a smile. They looked at him confused at his friendliness, and the fact that he wore no armor at all. After he spoke with them, they were convinced that he would be an easy target, and invited him to their camp outside town. He laughed a bit at them, 'Rookie PK'ers...this will be fun...' He thought as he followed them outside town. Once they had entered the forest they tried to jump him, but he made a carbon copy to block it as he disappeared into some bushes. Confused as to the real one was, they attacked the carbon copy, and upon taking it out, he jumped out of the shadows and stabbed one right in the neck with a knife that had an added paralyze effect, so he could not warn them. As the three other bandits were high-fiveing each other, he smiled and used the knife on all of them in an instant, successfully paralyzing all of them. "Well, Well, Well, I had to use up my Styles after all it seems..."He paused and teased one of the bandits, "Here's the deal, I leave you alive, you move to the southern part of the forest. Simple as that, or is that to hard?" He smiled. At this rate, he could get enough money to buy a house on the next floor if nobody would get in the way and try to be a knight-in-shining-armor. Seeing the bandits telling him no, he put his knife into his inventory, and brought out a medium-sized sword. He proceeded to cut of one of their arms, when another one shrieked. Hearing this, he looked over, "DEAL OR NO DEAL. Simple as that." the player nodded his yes as he was crying. Laughing he put the sword away, and left the bandits to die in the 'Free-Death Zone' as he called it, happily remembering a highly territorial guild at the southern part of the forest that he had a deal with. As long as he told them when a bandit would enter their part of the forest, he would get 75% of the rewards. He went back into the starter town and laughed like a manic.

Location: outskirts of the Town of Urbus

Stats: Level: 75, exp%:0, cooldown time: seven minutes game time

Bloodstained Katana (custom item) x1

Cloak of darkness (Rare drop item) x1

Health potions x58

Gold: 950,000

Teleportation Crystal: x3

"Finally this silly chase is over" Nisshoku had finally cornered a group of PKers, he'd been paid handsomely to get rid of them and with a price like this over their heads he'd gladly end them "please no struggling, lets take this like men" Nisshoku said quietly as he drew his favorite sword, his very own creation The Bloodstained Katana this was the very weapon he used to strike down all his contract kills and he'd do so right here and now the wind blew teasingly at his long black scarf as he pulled his blade back and struck down the no good idiots he'd been paid to kill "well that's that might as well go reward myself with a drink" he said while grabbing one if his Teleportation crystals and vanishing only to reappear in the town of beginnings he'd already received his pay so there was no reason to look for the guy who gave him the assignment, he already noticed that people were staring at him as he walked he knew they wouldn't try anything for one his levels were to high for any of them, and he'd have no problems with killing everyone in Sight.

"The usual" he said to guy who had owned the pub they were associated quite well sice Nisshoku saved his life once so he'd come here after every contract for a drink to unwind and relax besides there was a no killing rule in here so he didn't have to worry about anything.

Grace

Grace appeared in the town of beginnings after her avatar completely loaded, the scintillating sun beaming down on her and the luscious field that surround the little establishment of a town. Blinking at the sudden luminous surrounding, she brought a hand up to her eyes to cover the sun and staggered a bit, trying to get use to the new realization of being an avatar. Until her eyes adjusted, she looked around at the starting point she was at to try and see where was what or who was who. She then looked down at herself and smiled at her current attire, it matched perfectly and felt comfortable enough to run if need be.

Needless to say, everything around her looked simply spectacular. "
Oh, wow." was the word that merely escaped her lips but they had pursed together soon after. Perhaps she had to get use to talking as well. Grace removed her hand that was blocking the sun from her eyes, finally getting adjusted to the light and decided that this was the best time to take her first few steps. Putting her right foot first, the heel of her boot dug into the dirt as she mimicked it with her left one. After completing her first accomplishment of movement, her hands felt on her side to make sure her sword was still there just in case for you never know what would happen in these type of VRMMOs.

Grace continued to walk further into town, her mouth agape in awe until she came across a couple of merchants and what seemed to be another player buying items from one of them. She opened her inventory as well to check what items she currently had, which wasn't much. It should've been expected since she was a new player being only just level one. She sighed and closed her archive, walking up to one of the NPC merchants who bid her a good day. Since she was a weapon master it didn't really matter what weapons she got so just just bought any that sounded and looked more dangerous than her starter sword. Good thing she started off with 1,000 pieces of gold!

Iron Blade
Able to equip at LVL 2 (x1) -100 gold

Iron Bow
Able to equip at LVL 2 (x1) -100 gold

Iron Spear
Able to equip at LVL 2 (x1) -100 gold

After buying the three items, Grace checked her inventory again to place them in there and discarded the weathered sword. She equipped the Iron Blade this time and said 'thank you' to the merchant, not knowing if that would mean anything or not. Taking a couple of steps back, she unsheathed her new appointed sword to hold it up and watched as it glimmered in the sun. She twirled it in her hands and experimented her available, basic moves. She flipped backwards only to land on her feet gracefully, holding the sword behind her back and used the hand grasping it to throw it up; catching it with her other hand. Alright, at least she could show off some flashy sword wielding crap but what about when it came down to combat? Grace sighed to herself at the fact she would probably have to venture out to find some monster to kill.

Makishiru

  • Username: Makishiru

  • Level: 70

    Unique: Weapon Master

    Location: The Town of Beginnings

Koshiro disappeared into a vacuum for a moment until he was dragged into the new world. He had entered advent online. As Makioku Koshiro opened his eyes, he became his old self. He was Makishiru.

Makishiru stood in the Town of Beginnings as the wind ruffled his hair. The city was ablaze with life as new players continued to funnel in. Yet Makishiru was frozen, eyes wide as if he were staring down the barrel of a gun. The last time he had entered this world, something horrible had happened, and it was all coming back to him. After a moment, he couldn't breathe. Entering Advent Online had only worsened his problem. He had to say it. He had to say her name. He had to let it out. He had to accept it. So that he could stop it from happening again.

"Ts-tsu… tsugu… ts-Tsugumi," Makishiru dropped to one knee, looking to the ground, "Tsugumi, I won't let it happen again. I'll find the answer. I won't give up."

Rising to his feet, Makishiru whipped a tear from his eye. Then he started to hear the noises of the surrounding town. So many new players. There's bound to be some confusion. I won't drag it down with my own problems. Forcing on a smile, he pressed forward. Suddenly, he heard some yelling from a part of the town. Now was his first chance to make things right.

Sprinting to the scene, Makishiru found a few players driving a younger girl into a corner. They weren't trying to hurt or kill her necessarily, which meant they had other motives. Immediately, Makishiru imagined Tsugumi in the girl's place. Makishiru felt sick as he charged forward.

"Don't touch her! Get away you bastards!" Throwing a hard punch to the lead man's face, he let out a cry of anger. Immediately, he was tackled by the other two pursuers. Makishiru wriggled for a moment, finding himself stuck. They had his arms stuck behind his back and someone was holding his legs. He could feel an arm constricting around his neck as well.

How could this happen? They must have been pretty high leveled themselves to be able to handle him like this. What would happen to the girl? Some of the things that were permissible in this game could still scar a young girl like that for life. Just because it was a virtual world, didn't make it any less wrong.
No, this can't be it. Makishiru has never died. If he dies…

Letting out another cry, Makishiru engaged his ab muscles. He engaged any muscles he could. He wouldn't be beaten. He pried a hand free and used it to stick a pressure point. One of the men let out a yelp of pain and reeled back. There were ways to play with the pain gauge, and being the weapon master, Makishiru knew everything about exploiting them.

Using his free arm for leverage, he tripped another pursuer and was able to spin free. Then he threw a few offensive front kicks at the men. He had no intention of killing anybody, just stopping the injustice. Yet the players wouldn't have it. Suddenly Makishiru found himself staring at two spears and an axe. Giving them a sneer, he reached for his katana. But then one of the men yelled something.

"Y-you're Makishiro! The Weapon Master! I-I'm sorry. We'll stop!" With that, the men staggered away as quick as they could. Makishiro turned to the girl and made sure she was alright. Then he gave her 600 Col to buy some upgrades to help defend herself. Then he continued walking. If he were going to try helping people like this. He would need a team.

Opening the player menu, he navigated to the guilds tab and selected 'Initiate New Guild
'. What to call it? Justice League? Too American. Guardians Guild? That would work.

Sakura opened her eyes, her character on level one. She looked around, her eyes darting from place to place. She sighed, feeling her ears again. She sighed, her tails twitching one by one. She sighed. "So good to be back." She said, looking around. She saw a strange fellow fend away guys from a girl in a corner and walked away. She walked up to him and tapped his shoulder. "Hey." She said.

Pan's first attempt at brewery backfired.

At lower levels, brewing can have a 50% chance of not working and blowing up in the player's face. Unluckily enough, it didn't.

"This is to be expected..." He said calmly, taking out another Rat Tail and Blue dust and trying again.

Success!

You have Crafted a Mana Potion! +1x Mana Potion

-1x Rat Tail (Failed)

-1x Rat Tail

-1x Blue Dust (Failed)

-1x Blue Dust

Gained 15 exp!

He happily put his new potion and brewing stand back into his inventory. "Not bad... A guy could get used to this sort of thing. Now to find a group. A group would be nice..."

He walked through town, just watching the other players around him. His best bet would be to get a few more supplies and hoof it to the gates of town, all players looking for a party would be around that area. Pan goes to yet another merchant and goes ahead and buys some new armor.

Items Obtained! Buccaneer's Gear [+4 Def] (Level 2 Armor) -200 Gold

Remaining Gold - 350

Once he was set, he made his way through town and to the gates. "There has to be some good parties forming here, right?" He takes a look around and see's what he could do best for a party. He'd be a decent tank. A healer, maybe? Pan was unsure how he'd fit in best.

Unable to dodged in the limited space, Korala braced Pandora's energy attack against her sword, 12% easily chunked away her to half hp. The black wave exploded on impact, pushing Korala back against the wall, her heels skidding on the checkered floor. With hip jazz playing on a gramophone in the background, she dashed back into the fight. Her blade grinded against Pandora's blacken claws, slowly chipping away 5%. They continued trading blows in Pandora's favor as Korala waited for the time to strike. Her lifesteal and self-sustain had helped in prolonging the fight, although she couldn't last much longer at 23%.

Korala's eyes focused as she anticipated a certain attack. Pandora suddenly swiped horizontally with her claws, wisps of black energy trailing each point as it slices though the air. She had jumped down sideways, predicting the attack as the claws were a moment too slow, barely grazing her dress. With her light style, Korala kept levitated on her side, twisting suddenly as she brought her large weapon up at the unsuspecting boss. She continued to follow through her first attack with more rapid successions of slashes before the boss could respond in time. Streams of blood-colored energy started to spiral out her weapon as it clashed against the monster's own dark surge of energy before Korala finally halted her attack, landing gracefully back onto her feet. She sheathed her sword as Pandora disintegrated into light particles behind her. No drops though, hella wack.

Korala stretched nonchantly, it was normal for these runs to end her at 1-5% hp, which is quite a feat for someone 5 levels under. After about 32-33 runs, she managed to grind about 70% from this, which was amazing actually because level gains start to become incredibly tedious the higher level you are. She exited the dungeon, mentally exhausted from grinding repetitively. Korala began to make her trip back to floor one to sell the loot at the market place, yet was too trash to buy herself a teleportation crystal, though it wasn't that long of a trip when you already cleared everything.

"Thanks for the drink" Nasshoku said as he placed fifty gold on the table as he got up and left the pub, once outside he saw that there were way more players out than before some very well known ones and some more newbs he even caught a glimpse of Makishiru the weapon master or so he was called but Nisshoku had never really worked along side him "ah so many new faces, some of will be future contracts" he said while pulling up the hood of his cloak, as he made his way to the towns center where he usually hung around and waited for something to pop up but today it seemed a bit crowded so he headed to the outskirts of the town and sat under a fairly large tree "so boring nowadays where's all the excitement? "

Nisshoku watched newbies attempt to train up and raise their levels he remembered those days striving with the same ambition as them to be the strongest player with the best items, planning to join the highest ranked guild but that was just a pipe dream he knew because he had gave up on that idea to him the best way to do things was on your own that way you only had to worry about one person: yourself.

After he had told the guild at the southern forest about the bandits via message, he got bored again. He decided that since he did something for himself already he maybe should balance it out. He went to the center of the square to look for any rookies, but sadly none of them seemed the least bit interesting. Seeing that their was a player at the gates looking like he was checking his inventory, it worried him, since that once that player stepped foot outside those gates, you were free game to anyone who wasn't afraid to PK. Sighing he walked over to the player, noticing that he had some Buccaneer's Gear, and annoyed a bit that he might not have much money. He equipped a Pure Hide Robe, that had been colored black by a tailor that owed him some money. After putting the hood up, and covering his mouth with his scarf, the only things you could see was his mouth, besides the fact that he wore no armor. He got out his normal sword, the same one he WANTED to use on those bandits, but he would get over that soon enough. Pulling back his arm, he hit the player with a sideways slash, knowing it would cause any non-strength type to be knocked on the ground flat, because attacks in towns only cause knockback, no actual damage. Smiling while awaiting the result, he wondered if he had gotten a bounty yet in the beginner town.

Inori/Ina~

  • Name: Inori Honda (Ina)

    Age: 17

Occupation: Concert Pianist and high school student

Passing many of the same destinations that had existed in Sword art Online, the dark haired girl couldn't help but let her memories swarm her. Unaware of where she was headed to, Inori let her feet propel her. Hitting another player's back, Inori looked up startled. Looking up, she noticed just now, that she had been surrounded by ten other players.
"Excuse me?" She asked softly, trying to shove her way by. Though she had just been walking by, she had noticed multiple cases of gang violence. The looming man turned around, towering over the small tense girl.

"I'm sorry, but we just can't let you go. We know you're a former player of SAO, and that you transferred that avatar here. You must have a lot of Col and items." The tallest man said, he seemed to be the leader of this. They had managed to trap her in an alley, like a puppy cowering against a corner. In truth, she had sold most of her items before coming here, as she didn't need half of them.

"You realize though that we are in a town, therefore in a safezone your HP can't be depleted, so I can beat you guys all up multiple times." Smirking, she lowered her hip, the long sleeves of her outfit rustling as a soft breeze blew by. Hands on her dual swords, she drew them as a couple of the players advancing towards her with multiple weapons.

Attack, she easily sidestepped the first avatar's attack, stabbing him in the side.
"You're foot works too messy." She whispered to his ear before going in with a side kick to the ribs that knocked the man against a wall. "Who's next?"

It would take a few more minutes before only three of the group were still standing. They were the stronger ones, and, Inori noted with annoyance that they were still blocking the exit.
"Let me go!" She cried, fuming with rage. One of them attacked, hitting her shoulder, and she winced out of slight pain. Kicking off of the ground, she jumped as high as she could, her left arm propping the rest of her body up as she did a one handed round off off of the leader's head, landing so that her back was facing the rest of the town, and the remaining three players were in the alley way. "You're obviously going to lose." Smiling confidently, she brandished her sword. "I suggest you run."

Walking away, she left the men there. Her outfit had been ruined, a few slash marks and burn marks from one of the players that had activated their style.
"I'll either have to get a new one or fix this." She muttered quietly to herself. Gosh I'm out of shape. A group of bandits wouldn't have landed a single blow if we were still in Sword art Online. I need to work on my foot work and strikes. The small girl's avatar thought quietly to herself as she continued on her way, getting a few strange stares for her ripped attire. Stepping into a store, she asked the NPC if she could fix this. Nodding, the NPC, taking the forum of an elderly woman held out her hand for Inori's skirts.

After paying, the brown haired girl walked out again, the breeze bantering with her hair, pulled back by a large white bow.

Samantha walked out of the upstairs wing of the establishment down to the main floor. "One Redberry Ale please," she said to the bartender as the counter came within sight. Pulling up a stool to wait for the order, a light pulsation could be felt deep in her left ear. A message..from SnowFox? Ha. It sure has been a while.

"What the?!"

HP Player PanifestDestiny has taken 55 damage.

He jumps away from the other player.

"Holy shit, man! What's your deal? I thought this was a no PVP zone!"
He rubbed his arm where he was sliced. It stung like getting cut in real life.

He looks back up at the player by the name of "SilverKeon302"

"Wait, I've heard of you guys. You're the type of people that pick on noobs to make an easy buck." He draws his axe, thinking it would make a difference.

"Look, I just want to play the game and have a bit of fun. Do you really think it'd be worth it to pick on suck a money-less new player like me?"
He smiles nervously, this wasn't working.

Pan slowly begins to back away. "There certainly are a lot more dicks in this game than in regular MMOs..." He thinks to himself. He slowly shifts into a sprint, running from this player killing player as fast as possible.

He was confused, instead of knocking back the player like normally in towns, he did damage? Sighing, he quickly sent a gift containing 3,000 Gold and an Wolf's Cloak that allowed players to disguise the armor they were wearing as a grey robe to the guy, instead of chasing him. Strangely his player icon was still green, so he decided to find an assassin and tell them to kill someone before they left town, so he could test this out. Walking into one of the Pubs until he could find a player that looked high enough, he walked into the pub, and whispered into the player's ears,"Niissshookuu.......Kill someone...besides me and a player named PanifestDestiny, anyone else doesn't matter, and you get 30,000 gold? I can go higher if you wish, although I'm only testing some things out......so try not to make me broke cause' they are other people who can do the job too.." He sent a contact request to the player named 'Nisshoku' and left the pub. Afterwards he sent a message to a 'Police-Guild' that punished assassins and criminal players, and told them that a player named 'Nisshoku' is going to murder an innocent player and is currently in town. 'If the assassin completes the job, and takes out the guild, then I'll pay him double for passing my test. If he doesn't take the job, and takes out the guild, then I'll be put on his hit-list and will be taken out within a month's time, that is if I am able to survive that long. If he gets taken out by the guild, or they take each other out, either way I win.' He thought, at least that is how most high level assassins worked. At level 56, he didn't focus on his primary level much since he had already hit his cap as a solo player, and most guilds didn't allow his kind of play-style even though he had never directly killed anyone. He did join a party once, but it didn't end very well.

Grace

A bit after Grace looked at her sword, it had disappeared from her grasp and dispersed into tiny pixelated fragments before message appeared in front of her saying that the item couldn't be used until she reached level two. She swiped her hand to bring up the menu and opened the inventory to see what the fuss was about, it being true of course. The weapons that she previously bought were 'x'd out because of her current level and all of them couldn't be used at once since she didn't have the "unique" yet. She groaned and exited the menu with another swipe of the hand. Now she didn't even have a starter weapon to fight with since she had discarded it. God, how do you play this game?

Grace looked around again and went back to the merchant who bid her good day, again, and lucky for her the weathered sword was able to be purchased. With it bought, and another said '
thanks', she walked back and tried to figure out where she needed to go in order to level up. Of course, the town was surrounded almost endless fields and this was only floor one so perhaps low level monsters could be roaming around just waiting to be killed. She had began to notice more other new players alongside those whom looked to be at high levels and questioned why they would be at the starting point. If she was them, she'd be working her ass up the floors to reach the end. How did this game even work? With a twirl of her sword, she began to make her way to the town's exit.

As he finally slowed into a walk, Pan's health began to regen. He sighed and started the walk to his destination once again, the gate.

A text box suddenly appeared in front of him.

You have been gifted Items by Player SilverKeon302! 3000 gold

1x Wolf's Cloak(Disguise)

Do you accept?

>Yes

No

That was strange. The player who took a swipe at Pan is now trying to give him items? Despite the gift being shady, he shrugged and accepted the items anyway. It couldn't hurt to use them to his advantage. He pressed "Yes" and the items appeared in his inventory. Looking them over, he noticed that the cloak could be used to disguise his armor. "Is my armor incredibly wanted or something? Did he give me this to hide it?" He was still incredibly confused by the random act of generosity. Regardless, he applied the Cloak to his Buccaneer's Gear and continued his trek to the gates.
