hey! How're you doing?Eyyyy
I'm doing good! How are you??hey! How're you doing?
I‘m pretty good. Just stressed out. Being a waitress is really tiring, even if the hotel has only 15 tables it‘s quite hard to remember all the rules etc.I'm doing good! How are you??
Oof I know the feeling, I was a waiter for nursing home a few years back. It's stressful, but fun to doI‘m pretty good. Just stressed out. Being a waitress is really tiring, even if the hotel has only 15 tables it‘s quite hard to remember all the rules etc.
Ooofffff. I'm sorryAnd I‘m kinda annoyed that I have to go work for a second time in about an hour :/
True. It‘s more entertaining than folding pillow covers for 2 hours, though I don’t really like it too much. Don’t know why but yeah. I‘m glad I don’t have to do that for the rest of my life tbhOof I know the feeling, I was a waiter for nursing home a few years back. It's stressful, but fun to do
Nope. But you barely make any money. Like 4‘000 dollars brutto. That‘s almost not enough to live. With tips you can either keep them yourself, or they go in a pool and everyone gets an equal amount or the owners of the restaurant just keep it. But since I‘m working at a hotel, I‘m also not getting any tips.Do restaurants in Germany do that thing where they use tips as an excuse to pay you less than minimum wage?
About the same amount. And the 4‘000 franks are 4‘000 a monthHow much is that in USD?
Cuz I typed it on my phone that has a German keyboard and I‘m more used to using apostrophes, cuz we don’t use decimal points for thousandsWait, do you use apostrophes instead of decimal points?
Yup. I doWait, do you use apostrophes instead of decimal points?
Average salary here is like 7‘000 dollars. 4‘000 really covers basically just the bare minimum to liveWait, you're making 4000 dollars waiting tables? I couldn't make that much working at a restaurant for a year.
YupIs this monthly?
Yes I know. We always do the current 18%-20% sometimes more if the service was really good or we‘re close to going home again and just dump all the loose change we haveNever mind then, I ran the math and I'd make close to but still less than that in a month at minimum wage. Except most restaurants don't pay minimum wage around here because they expect to make it up with tips. And by expect I mean they don't expect and just want an excuse to pay less than minimum wage. Pro-Tip for traveling to the US: always tip your waiter if you can. It's the right thing to do.
What do you mean? We've kind of slowed to a crawl.things don't look to be slowing down here any time soon orz
Ooooh. My bad.at my job I mean, it's nuts
