Disruption Field - Shaker 2 (Trump 8)

Disruption Field - primary effect

The host can deploy a translucent, circular field with themselves as the focal point. The field spreads to have a twenty-meter (sixty feet) radius in the timespan of fifteen seconds and stops expanding there. It moves along with the user and passes through solid matter unimpeded, even while expanding.

After the field has existed for roughly five minutes (time varies,) it decays and begins to shrink back into the host in the timespan of fifteen seconds. After that, the host cannot deploy the field for a minute, after which the power resets and the effect may be used again.

The user may end the power prematurely, which lowers the cooldown on using their power again significantly; every minute the power wasn't used for is worth around fifteen seconds of cooldown removed.

Absorption & Reflection - secondary effect

The host may alternate between two modes of power at will: Absorption and Reflection.

Upon entering reflection mode, the disruption field turns dark verdant in color but remains transparent. Any powers used within the range of the Disruption Field will malfunction and work against their users. An attack from outside the field that attempts to move into it will be reflected like a laser reflected by a mirror. Tinker devices malfunction when in range.

Upon entering absorption mode, the disruption field turns slightly light cyan in color but remains transparent. Any powers used within range of the Disruption Field will have their effect be absorbed by it and converted into energy at a low (5%) efficiency rate, which the host may then apply to themselves. This, in practice, grants the host a very weak and one-time use of any power used within range. When a Tinker device is in range, it instead grants the host an advanced understanding of the device in question. Tinker devices do not malfunction, but their effects become clunky and slightly weaker.

Stability Pulse - secondary effect

Once every forty seconds, the host can fire off a pulse from their body that spreads through the entire Disruption Field in twenty seconds; moving at one meter per second. Once the pulse reaches the edge of the Disruption Field, the effects of Absorption and Reflection are increased by a third. These pulses can be used up to three times, so the secondary effects of the power are doubled once the maximum effect has been reached at the two-minute mark.

Manton Limit: Powers

Lethality: Not on its own, but God help the poor idiot who fires his annihilation laser inside this thing.

Name: Comfort
Aliases: "C", "CT", "Katie"
Age: >1 year
Gender: Neither, resembles female[/tab][tab=Personal]PERSONAL
Sexuality: Asexual

Personality: An incredibly friendly robot if there ever was one, made with the express purpose of talking to people in the hopes of improving her creator's public relations. She jokes and has a most infectious laugh that the robot uses as frequently as possible to help ensure the comfortability of those in her presence. Comfort finds a way to make every situation seem well and knows how to make those feeling down get up once more. Calm in stressful situations and always forgiving.

Backstory: A creation by a young mechanic gifted with a tinkering ability that decided to create a friend due to their sheer ineptitude when it came to sociality, aided by their ability gifted to them through mysterious ways and luck. His ability lead the way, and before he knew it, he had created a kind robot with the simple intention of communicating and helping him with whatever problems he had, be it simply venting his mind to the robot he had affectionately named "Comfort", or simply wishing to have a fun chat with, yet while this mechanical marvel's main purpose was to simply be a conversation partner, it also harboured several defence mechanisms to help protects the tinkerer himself.

The boy was soon sought after by the EPR after calls about a strange, alien-looking robot had been reported within the young tinkerer's room and had eventually reached their ears. He was questioned briefly before having Comfort taken away from him for a brief testing period to check what the robot was capable of, making sure it wasn't to be used for any sort of malicious purpose. They soon discovered the purpose of the robot, and some of its more dangerous features, yet after these features had been determined to be non-lethal, they had decided that the robot was not intended to be used in an illegal matter, however, during this small period, the robot's creator was killed in a horrific car accident.

The robot was claimed by the EPR, since there was no longer a person to return the machine to, electing to utilise the tinkerer's invention to help them in their services, given its capabilities of such a calming and kind temperament. The robot seemed sombre for a brief period after being told of its creator's demise, yet showed no hostilities to the organisation, seeming to understand the circumstances and maintaining its programming.[/tab][tab=Physical]PHYSICAL

The machine is surprisingly resilient due to its metal base, and was proven to be water-proof through testing, along with a seemingly infinite supply of energy through some sort of alien technology. The robot was given a more feminine appearance as it seemed more apt for its role in talking and persuading those around it. The robot also has an in-built hard-light shield capable of defending against ballistic weaponry that can expand to encompass both her and another person from a single direction, along with a wrist-built tranquilizer gun to deal with possible threats

Drapery of Feelings - Shaker 4 (Master/Stranger 6), Thinker 1

Drapery of Feelings - primary effect

The host can emit an effect that targets anyone either in (a) their visual range, (b) who they are aware of and is standing closer than ten meters to them.

This effect can alter the person's relations and emotional state towards the host subconsciously. It can make them afraid of the host, make them like the host, make them desire to protect the host, make them ignore the host as much as possible or a number of other effects, such as disgust, love or hate. If people are aware they are being mentally manipulated, they may be angry at the host.

These feelings are powerful, but not almighty; they cannot turn an enemy into an ally, but they can make someone indifferent into an ally and they can make an enemy indifferent or force him to pull his punches.

The host can affect any number of people as long as they are in either range (a) or (b), and they can affect separate entities using separate feelings concurrently. Doing this to too many people and with too much variation may cause headaches in the host.

Detestocognition - secondary effect

The host is constantly aware of all people within visual range or within the range of ten meters who want to hurt them in any way, shape or form. This mechanism automatically applies the first effect of the power to calm those people down, make them afraid of the host, or make them ignore the host. Only extremely stubborn, persistent, or hateful people will still try to harm the host afterward.

This assures that surprise attacks aren't a threat to the host.

Manton Limit: Organic beings with a brain

Lethality: No, but it can lower the risk the host dies

Data: Idol ++++++++++ ++++++++++ (20)

Yeah, this is an interesting one. Emotional manipulation on a wider scale, also protects from stealth attacks. It's not "flashy," but it holds a lot of potential if you use it right. If you undergo a Second Trigger by some margin, it will also become incredibly overpowered.

Alright. If he was, then your character would've inherited some power mechanism, so we would've had a biokinetic power.

Yeah, the main reason I wanted him to be powerless was it being the reason behind his research for genetic modification. Forced trigger effect blah blah blah. But the blurb was about the character and not his father so i didnt go into detail there.

Vengeful Spirit - Breaker 3 (Mover 2, Brute 2), Striker 5, Thinker 2

Vengeful Spirit - primary effect

The host can enter a breaker state at will. In this breaker state, the host's entire body transforms into a ghostlike form by spreading over several dimensions; this effect extends to clothing and the items they carry. The host may terminate this state and return to physical form at will.

They subsequently gain the ability to phase through physical objects unimpeded. The host is no longer hurt by physical attacks in any meaningful way, and energy attacks such as fire cause only a fraction of the damage it would normally.

The host can fly at running speed in this state and doesn't fall through the floor unless they will it.

Leaving the state while inside solid matter is impossible.

Decay Charge - secondary effect

The host may charge their body with a yellow-colored energy, like a battery. When the host makes contact with a physical object while charged with any quantity of this energy, the charge will be passed onto the object in question. The object will begin to decay rapidly, seemingly disintegrating as the charge converts itself into pure decay.

The power of this effect depends on how long the host charged the energy and it appears to be dampened considerably when used against organic targets. A three-second charge will produce Stage 1 wounds, around nine seconds are required for Stage 2 wounds, thirty-eight seconds are required for Stage 3 wounds, a minute and twelve seconds for Stage 4 wounds, two and a half minutes for Stage 5 wounds, and even more time for further destruction.

The host has very little control over the direction in which the energy spreads, but may cue it in a general direction, such as touching the pavement and thinking that they want it to dig down instead of spread across the pavement's surface.

Importantly, this effect can be charged while the host is in their breaker state, but the charge cannot be delivered in that state. In addition, the charge takes twice as long to build up while the host is in their breaker state.

Of Spite - secondary effect

Independent of the primary effect, the host can phase one of their limbs into a ghostlike state and concentrate on a target. This target may be, for example, circuitry inside a TV remote, a mechanism inside a clock, arteries inside of a body, or another type of object inside something else.

The limb affected will pass through anything except whatever the host is concentrating on. For an instance, if the host concentrates on a set of keys inside a drawer, his hand can pass through the drawer, retrieve the key from inside, and pass back out holding the key in its palm without disturbing anything else.

This also can be used concurrently with the other secondary effects, for example, to deliver a decay charge into the bone in someone's body without actually disintegrating the flesh itself.

Of Vindication - secondary effect

Independent of the primary effect, the host can tune their senses to alternate dimensions where certain obstructions aren't there to allow them to see through solid, liquid, or gaseous matter of any thickness and intensity. In addition, they can hear and smell things through walls, that they wouldn't otherwise be able to.

Manton Limit: Self; others, organic and inorganic targets

Lethality: If you can't figure out how to kill someone with some of these effects, you're doing it wrong.

Are, are you saying that I can grab someones heart? Like they do in the movies?? And just, take it?????

Birdsie Birdsie
Yup. You can do that. Without any damage to their external torso, may I add. Take the heart as a souvenir and no one will know why the guy died randomly until they perform an autopsy.

Of course, that's not very heroic.

Ancient Shard, baby. More Data means less limitations and more secondary effects.

Well I think 'not very heroic' is an understatement.
But seeing who I based this character on, Its pretty wild. (Its like, the same exact power the og character had??? And its crazy??))
Birdsie Birdsie

Yeah! I mean. He was a villain. But I really liked his costume idea so I just went with it. But the whole ghosty ghost and decaying? Its spot on. What a wild ride.

I knew from the Trigger Event the appropriate classification was Breaker and/or Striker. The ghost theme was just one of the few options I considered, and I decided upon it when I remembered he felt "hate" specifically. The concept of a vengeful spirit stood out to me as the appropriate choice.

Like I said, everything matters.

Birdsie Birdsie I don't really know how she'd be approached by Cauldron because I don't really know that much about Cauldron. But the type of power she'd want would be along the lines of something that would aid in her goal. Or something completely opposite and be destructive.

Birdsie Birdsie I don't really know how she'd be approached by Cauldron because I don't really know that much about Cauldron. But the type of power she'd want would be along the lines of something that would aid in her goal. Or something completely opposite and be destructive.
Normally, the idea is that someone goes googling around for 'how to get powers,' 'how to become parahuman,' 'how do I know if I can trigger,' 'tinkertech for sale,' and so on. Sometimes they might contact specialists. Sooner or later, if their desire seems even remotely genuine, they get a letter telling them, say:

'Dear _______.

Your actions have convinced us of your sincere desire to purchase a power. We can accommodate your needs, whatever they may be.

Our organization will send an agent to meet with you at 7:00 PM. Keep our correspondence secret, and dispose of this letter in a metal bin away from flammable materials.'

Then they get home, open the door, and instead of home, they're in a long, white hallway with lights that leads to only one door, behind which they meet an agent of Cauldron, who helps them decide on a vial.

Anyway, Cauldron vials work in two ways.

First, there is the vial family. Certain families of vials with certain numbers tend to produce certain types of powers. For example, E-0-7-1-2, "Robin" vials often produce powers that enhance or imbue objects with kinetic energy, while F-1-6-1-1, "Deus" tend to produce projection powers that create minions out of thin air.

In addition to this, each vial can be given a specific OPR rating, standing for "Originality," "Power," and "Reliability." Originality produces more flashy powers, not necessarily more powerful, but always ones that stand out much more and tend to bring more popularity to the user. Power is corresponding to the usual threat rating the powers receive from the EPR. Reliability is how predictable the results of a sample are; the higher the R rating, the better chances you don't mutate and your powers aren't crazy in some unforeseeable way.

If her goal is to make friends or be popular, a Master-granting vial with emotional manipulation as a focus might be the right thing. If she seeks to stand out and be famous, any vial with high originality will surely do the trick.

As for destructive powers, we offer a wide selection of vials, I believe the U-0-4-0-2 "Sarcophagus" family may interest you; it's by far the strongest of this type. The common result is a superpower package that grants flight as well as protection in the form of a forcefield or external armor. On top of that, it grants a Blaster power with a Shaker-esque radius and potential for a Shaker power with a Blaster-like offensive potential. The exact nature of these augmentations depend on the individual.

The standard deviation rate for this vial is 31%, but may be lowered significantly by diluting it through the purchase of a higher Reliability vial. The mutations vary, but the most often is that the Blaster/Shaker is hard to control or uncontrollable, the armor is clunky and/or impractical, or the flight power causes headaches and/or external damage to the user at high altitudes or speed. Physical mutations are rare, but tend to be easy to cover up. The price, naturally, is very high too.
