Fantasy A Union in Chaos

Paladins that rush to violence over prayer? What kind of...listen you're some sorry Paladin if that's so! I'm not saying fighting is bad, but don't you try peace first?? " He laughed and smoked his pipe, making colorful smoke rings. "I'm sure you didn't just threaten me. While I can't kill your little club here I can sure as hell slow it down. And I never asked you to respect everyone, but I thought paladins did! Paladins really have changed since my day, when they fought for justice and goodness, not declaring themselves the keepers of order!"

(Never say that. I don't know if you believe if a God, or just dumb luck, but for whatever reason you ARE here. Do you want them to feel as you do? Would you wish that upon them?! You want them here, but shit I want my cousin back. I don't know why he did what he did, he's never been like that, but for whatever reason, he did. And every day I remember the pain it caused my family, and every day I strive to not be like that, because I'm not going to cause more pain. Whoever you are, you have potential. Look I don't know who you are, but if nobody else, we all care for you, and there's always someone to back you up. I don't get why shit happens to people. I just keep going. Because death is absolute, and you can only hope when you go, after you LIVE a long life, they'll be waiting for you. Don't think about wishing you were dead. It causes pain around you, and you have so much to live for. If nothing else, be an author.
((I just don't understand. People like them shouldn't have died, and I'm really really sorry about your cousin.))

He turned around, then responded "Of course we try peace first, but you can't argue with demons, heretics, or people corrupt from evil power. Those are the kind of scum that my order deals with. We are Rivannian representatives, approved by King Amadeus Valerian the III" with an annoyed voice, then turned back around and continued walking. "Slowing us down is counter-productive. We are trying to prevent the end of all existence. Slowing us down could mean your own death. The apocalypse that will happen. Will shatter all realms. Not just the physical world. And as I said, I do not declare myself the keeper of order. I have been declared the keeper of order."

"OK ok that's good we got somewhere. I take back what I said, that's what a Paladin order ID supposed to do. And know, I have sensed something coming as well...why else did I just show up here. Now last question as we march, at least until I think of more" he winked, "who declared you this? And where have you been!" @Birdsie

I am going to be back in an hour, so I pumped out this last post for now, for yah. You'll have what to interact with :D

Kaldor Dreigo

He sighed. "Around the country? Purging it of danger, demons, vampires, necromancers, warlocks and other diabolical threats? The Sons of Korhal while being warriors in heavy armor, prefer to perform their duty in a discrete way. Over the last... 300 years that my Order existed, we were always active. Do you even realize how long we have been around? And I was declared the Chapter-Master of the Sons of Korhal nearly 20 years ago, by King Firo Valerian the Great. The one that came before Leon Valerian, who went too far into demonic deals that he couldn't get out from." he explained, with the voice of someone that would have to explain things to a lonesome, uneducated child with no idea of how the world works.

Kaldor continued walking, with a very neutral facial expression. You could sense his annoyance and slight hostility despite him wearing a helmet. The years of fighting demons, and corrupted scum left a clear mark on him. A burning passion to the battlefield and to the purge of all that is evil, but it also clearly left him more aggressive than one would expect from a Paladin, even for a Chapter-Master. His old age, however, as you could also tell, gave him a lot of wisdom and strength. His prime passed long ago, but he is still as intelligent, smart and wise as if he was in it. Kaldor took a short glance at the hourglass attached to his belt. It had inscriptions on it... 95 hours left. They still had plenty of time to research the rift that would appear. Even despite being rather away from Toron, and being sensitive and slightly trained in the very basics of magic, even Kaldor could slowly begin to fear some weakening in the Void. A weak hole in the very weave of the universe. It was fearsome and the destructive energies that created the universe. It nearly felt as if they could pour inside any minute.

"I suppose we are nearly at the destined location." he said, turning around briefly to his men and to Solymere. They stood proudly, their black-white armor. Blue visors and golden decorations, along with short, but noble-white horns on their helmets all shining and glittering in the darkness that surrounded them. It was already sunset, so it was not that bright anymore. Kaldor said "Honorable Battle-Brothers, and you; Mage." he said, tilting his head to Solymere. "We have gathered here, on a quest, however it's purpose is much different of our average destination. You are all masters of your craft. All masters of killing." he said, turning back to his men. His voice changed a little, to one that tries to inspire a sense of duty, it was a convicing one, one of a leader. "Now I expect you to do something else! We will research that tear, and stop it from growing and expanding. Unlike your other brothers, you are all chosen. Chosen by me, personally. You are all scholarly, a lot of you skilled and sensitive in magic! So come now, and let us set up a camp, so that tomorrow we begin our work!" he yelled. All of his men yelled back "With courage and honor!" and started setting up the camp. Kaldor sat down on a nearby rock, of a rather big size. He sat down to take a break from the long march they endured. Straight from Korhal to Toron is quite the long way, anyone would be tired.

Solymere would insult him back for speaking to him in such a tone, but he figured that this man has a lot to deal with. Too bad he thinks he's better then everyone else, not very Paladin like. Sometimes people don't get when others play stupid...well that's why he was smarter then the paladins. "Would you rather I fight demons or do something else?"

He sighed and said "You have so much power. A mage. But you would rather indulge in foolishness and pretend to be stupid." in annoyance. "I don't care what you'll do. We do not need you here. I am not sure why you followed us in the first place." he added, sighing. He wanted for the mage to leave him alone, with his men. He did not like people who used magic to prolong their life. He did not trust mages that much to begin with. To him, using magic to extend your lifespan was as good as making a deal with a demon, except for weak people, rather than powerful people. Powerful people would have something to offer to a demon, and would even know how to summon one.

"The way that you expand your life with magic is a sign of weakness." he said, closing his eyes and trying to focus on something.

(Ok. I back. what'd I miss?)
(Not that much tbh. You can read through it.

Here's a short version if you don't feel like it.

Recap
 • The Sons of Korhal are passing by, who as I'd remind you know the wherebouts of one of the books.
 • Curiously, one of the books is one of the books is known to be in Castle Riverskull, more exactly the Hall of Wisdom.
 • Jacen is yelling at Ari and Arabelle about them passing through.
 • Kaldor Dreigo is being stalked by Solymere, kindof.
 • Nothing else, really.

)

"Stay here Jacen. Those men are big as hell and don't seem the talking type."

Ari chased after the passing Paladins until he caught up with the leader. Ari was full aware that he could be brushed off. Still though. "I'm Ari Waesmore. I know you have urgent work, but we've been notified that you have some knowledge of one of books: Either Body, Mind or Soul. We've met with someone who believes that the power to stop the oblivion lies in those books. I honestly believe it's a futile effort, but we believe it to be at least worth a shot."

Kaldor put on his helmet and drew out his sword. "The Book of Mind was the order's secret since our creation. How do you know of it? That's impossible!" he said, then pointed at Ari threatningly. The red eyes of his helmet glowing. You could feel the man's strength, just by looking at the size of his armor. The other Paladins surrounded Ari, drawing out their weapons, such as hammers, axes and rarely even swords.

"What are you? How did you discover this? I have to know, or I will be forced to silence you down." he said, with an inqusitive voice. His voice sounded as if it was impossible to know about the books' very existence. It sounded as if a man just saw something impossible happen and manifest before his own eyes. He even seemed slightly afraid, for a Paladin. Once again, Kaldor was surprised. Thinking he's seen everything in life that could be seen, only to be changed by the unknown person's words.

"Ah fuck. Azriel's trying to get us killed," Ari muttered.

Ari threw his hands up, surprised at how fast he had blades at his throat. He knew how to pick his fights. He could escape, but that would be seen as aggression. "Woah woah. Did you hear anything I just said? Let me explain.........my wife was kidnapped and taken by some guy named Azriel and put in some dimension. Apparently he's been researching something about the oblivion that's supposed to happen. He said a possible way to stop this oblivion is to get those 3 books. I know jack shit about them, nor do I give a damn about them. All I know is that we were told to gather them and that you know the whereabouts of one of them. If I stumbled upon some secret cult shit, I know nothing."

Kaldor seemed surprised, he took a step back and looked confused, but then returned to his aggressive stance. Kaldor yelled "What?! Liar! That insane warlock has been dead for years. How do you explain that? Did he make a deal with some demon, for a new body? Or maybe a God? If he is truly the one who told you of this book, you should not have trusted him!" with an aggressive, threatning tone.

Kaldor's voice suddenly changed, as he rose his eyebrows thinking "From the other side though... He could indeed- Wait. It makes sense now... Yes. I understand now... I know what he wants to do, but there's no way that it can work... Or can it? Perhaps... But, I still don't know what all of them contain..." he was speaking to himself, thinking out loud. "I am conflicted. I don't know. Why should I trust you, or that robed, deluded fool with the book?" he asked Ari.

"You shouldn't! Clearly I have no fucking idea what the hell's going on. You know what these books are about. I don't. I just want my wife and kids to not die. Whatever is in those books, it's not something I want to learn about, or get involved in if it means taking this on." By this, he was referring to the blades at his throat and the leader himself. Ari seemed weirdly calm now but the urgency and honesty was clear.

Celia tied down the cargo on her ship. She was to sail out to another dock nearby. Not because she wanted to, but because she was hired to. She was to transport the cargo to the town across the waters on the island nearby.

(Anyone want to ask Celia about these mysterious books? @Kylesar1 @Birdsie I am sure Celia, a pirate that has travelled 90 % of the world time and time again, has heard of them)
(What books have been found? If the soul has not been found then I have an Idea)
(None of them, but I think Body is in the Castle, Mind is being revealed, and Soul is unknown)

One of Kaldor's lieutentants looked at him and said "The Book is too dangerous. It corrupts the mind of the reader, even Azriel isn't-" one other person cut him off and said "Azriel is an insane warlock, but he's a warlock. He studied magic! He knows what he's doin-" only to be cut off by another one of them. All of the Paladins started arguing about the situation.

Kaldor yelled "SILENCE!" with an angry voice. Then he turned his attention back to Ari "This is the end of the world, so I will put my trust in you. Our order's whole point was to guard the Book of the Mind, and find the three others. You see. Long ago, even the Ancients didn't know magic. The Elder God gave them the books, to help them learn it. However, the books are too dangerous for mortal men. All of them contain knowledge that gives great power, but it also corrupts. Both not literally, as literally. They make a person power-hungry, lusting for the other books. But they also corrupt what each book is about. The book of the body corrupts the body, the mind corrupts the mind, the book of the soul corrupts the soul. Put together, they corrupt the user to incredible status and also give him magic on the level of an ancient god. To not be corrupted by them, you would have to study and meditate for years. Or prepare some sort of protection..."

Kaldor sighed "I will give you the book, but only Azriel can read it. I see that he wants to stop fate and prevent this, so I will help him." he said, rather reluctantly. Then said "The Book is in the deepest dungeon of our Citadel in Korhal. I will send my men to retrieve it." as he turned around, starting to form up his men. He sent about half of the people with him back to Korhal, to get the book...

"Still can't believe you knew about that we have one of them. Or that they exist at all... astonishing." he said, turning to Ari again, clearly impressed.

"I'm not gonna open them. Never cared to, and I'm gonna guard them with my life. We'll get them to Azriel and be done with it," Ari nodded.

(Why do I get the feeling that either Azriel or Jacen is gonna open the book and turn evil?)

The rest of the Paladins lowered their weapons and sheathed them, with Kaldor doing the same nearly synchornically. He sat back on the rock from before and did not speak at all.
