Realistic or Modern A Summer to Remember

The boy who had introduced himself as Kai was certainly enthusiastic, Delilah reprimanded herself for thinking otherwise based off of his previous actions. Kaede, was it? Yes, Kaede seemed to be a magnet for the others which was both hilarious and wondrous at the same time. Delilah would not be averse to supplying food if it was needed and she felt excited for the get-together. "I am able to supply us with snacks if needed or food if that is amenable.."

"Yeah, so long as someone comes along to help carry everything. I'll take my parents' car," replied the blonde. Things were moving swiftly and smoothly, which was good. No mosying around and wondering whether they'd get into trouble.

Just then, something hit the nape of her neck. An arm, leading to that Kai fellow. Looks like she already had one volunteer. His eagerness didn't bother her at all. In fact, she could probably give him the bulk of the stuff to lift with that enthusiasm. "We should all pitch in on the costs, so no one ends up totally broke."

Aiden chuckled with amusement as the blonde girl gave him an obvious exaggerated wink, rolling his eyes teasingly. He looked over as a boy with a Southern drawl joined the group to offer some beer. "Of course, man. We're not a very exclusive group," he told the newcomer, referring to the fact that everyone had all just met each other.

His light brown gaze redirected over to the rest of the group. "So everyone choose something to bring and we can meet up at his house?" he suggested, looking at the guy who had offered his house. "We'll take care of the hard liquor," he smiled, glad that Eliott had offered to come to the store with him. "And we can all split the total cost at the end once we add everything up," he added when the blonde mentioned to pitch in.

Michael agreed with the plan, but nobody still seemed to be moving. He gave a silent nod and backtracked towards his boat to get the rest of his drinks. He grabbed what was left of his original rack, and also pocketed a traveler size of Bean that was in his tackle box. Beer in tow, he walked back to the group. They seemed like nice folk, and the ladies weren't bad on the eyes, either. Michael had never seen this many people at the lake, nor such a wide diversity. As he swaggered back to the group, he fumbled with a pack of cigarettes with his free hand, and struck up a Marlboro as he walked.

"We got somethin' even more important to discuss before we move!" Michael said loudly to the group as he returned. He allowed a momentary pause before continuing and jokingly but seriously said,

"I need to know all of yer names!"

"What if I said I wasn't that broke?" Elliot chimed in lowly. Hopefully, this was a group he could trust...becasue he had 400 USD alone to blow for the day, not including funds on his bank card. He was going to hit up some Mall, but this seemed like a better way to spend the day. "First, we get breakfast!" He said triumphantly, unhitching himself off his post and turning around. On the inside, he was nothing but giddy. He'd made a boat load of friends without really trying. "Cop check!" he called out, half serious. It wouldn't look good on BBC News if he was arressted for a petty charge--especially since his father was one of the producers.

Delilah smiled slightly at the man's accent, she had always found Southerners to be intriguing and held a fascination for the confident but limited linguistics down South. She considered his question before deeming to answer, the smile which had graced her features sliding into a permanent poker face. "I am Delilah Muniere, at your service and you are?" She had only caught a few of the introductions from the others.

Does everyone smoke on the mainland? Kai wondered as another cigarette was lit. He kept the thought to himself, repeating the words he'd said twice today already. "I'm Kai!"

The boy was eager to make friends, clearly. He looked to the British man, who was apparently pretty well-off. Kai felt a twinge of something in his chest, but he didn't know what. Shaking it off, he leaned more comfortably on the blonde girl. "Whose a cop? And you haven't even eaten breakfast yet?"

"Beer and crisps can be breakfast," stated Kaede, another humoured grin splaying across her lips. The blonde began to walk, dragging Kai with her since he was pretty much glued to her side at the moment. "And, I'm Kaede."

If Elliot wanted to pay for the bulk of it, she wasn't going to complain. He must be quite wealthy then, she assumed. It suited his accent.

"I'm Mike Knowles." Michael said to Delilah and all the others there. He gave a grin and a small tip of his hat as he did so. His Marlboro was still hanging loosely out of the corner of his lips. He heard Kai's comment about cigarettes, but all he could manage was a shrug. Michael smoked for himself and drank for himself. None of it was to impress or offend anybody. He absentmindedly brought his hand up to his face to rub his scruff that'd been steadily annoying him for the past few days.

There was alcohol aplenty, pretty girls at hand, and a day to be had. Michael was not a patient fellow, and was ready to see what new heights his buzz might be able to reach. "Whereabouts was this house did you say?"

Kadyn stuck to the back. Her parents approved of drinking, hell, they'd encourage her to do it. she wouldn't mind getting to know everyone either, and a drink sounded pretty fun... She smiled at all of the people. She preferred quiet, but just once she didn't mind making an exception... "I can bring a couple of wine coolers, if that's cool." She offered

"Kaede, where is this car of yours?" Elliot asked playfully. The aspect of driving on the wrong side of the road made the man giddy. He was on a natural high from the exposure to his new friends. The group was moving at more of a sheepish pace, but they were making connections. "And, can we all fit? Maybe we should take my mom's Volvo." he followed up, quirking an eyebrow at the blonde. He glanced at the Hawaiian on her shoulder. He looked young but certainly not impressionable--he hoped. His gaze then turned to Xavier. He had to admit,he liked his face too. A sharp blush lit his face, prompting the man to pull up his hood.

Aiden smiled at the man who was now smoking a cigarette, again breathing in the tempting tobacco smell. "Aiden," he replied simply, his light brown eyes tearing themselves from the cigarette to look at Elliot who had just offered to pay everything. The first thing he was going to do once they got to that store was to buy a pack of cigs. And he wasn't going to complain if the British guy wanted to cover the rest of them, although he was definitely going to pay for his own cigs. He didn't like the thought of relying on someone else.

He looked over at the girl in the back who had offered to bring wine coolers and smiled at her. "Of course that's okay. The more the merrier," he replied, locking his gaze with hers.

Aiden redirected his attention over to the blonde. "Let's get moving. I'm hungry, thirsty, and craving a pack of cigs," he said impatiently but lightheartedly.

Delilah listened in quiet reflection to the conversation going on, studying each participant before observing their actions. Almost all of them had a certain magnetism to troublesome events and Delilah felt fascinated by that aspect, what must it be like to be so carefree? To have no concerns of what others happened to think of you? It was certainly something Delilah had yet to experience.

Kai let himself be dragged along with Kaede, playing with a strand of her blonde hair as they walked further away from the others. He grabbed Delilah's wrist as they passed her and dragged her along. Kai tried not to focus too hard on any of the boys in the group, though he found himself wondering why. It's not like he normally had any problems with them. Kai's head hurt thinking about it, so he refocused his attention to the girls beside him. Relaxing in their presence, the Filipino kept smiling. "Let's hurry up!"

Delilah had not expected the hand which closed around her wrist so abruptly, dragging her onwards and she glanced back and tried to convey that she needed immediate help. She usually refrained from contact as it only served as a distraction but Kai seemed eager and she did not wish to rain on his metaphorical parade. She allowed herself to be pulled, grinning at the notion before deciding that these people weren't at all what she had expected.

Kadyn smiled, running towards the head of the pack. This would be a blast! She looked through all of the people present, running a hand through her dirty blond locks. They seemed so carefree... Fun loving, just like kids her age should be. Just for one night, this would be her cutting loose and playing hard. "The name's Kadyn." She said out loud to those she hadn't told before.

((Guys, holy crap. Seven pages in one day?))

Azaelia lifted her head slightly as a boy approached her. A smile quirked her lips at the boy's easy-feeling energy. I like him. she thought simply. Liked the way she felt at ease around him as if there, at the center of his soul, was a lake just as steady and calm as the one before them.

"Azaelia. Like the flower." she said. A puff of laughter escaped her lips as if she hadn't expected to laugh. "And this,"-she pointed to a highly irritated Poe.-"Is Poe."

Azaelia smiled again and this time it was more of a full smile. "You like Edgar Allen Poe?"

It was a joke really. Although Azaelia did pull her shoulders in at the cheesiness of it.

Her eyes wandered to the growing crowd around the lake. Voices obnoxiously filled the once still air but one voice caught her attention so much so that she stood on tip-toes to try and see who it belonged to. It was painfully familiar to listen to.

Azaelia's one and only friend, Jessie, had been from home, well London but close enough, and his accent was uncanny.

"What do you think they're doing?" she asked Matt, gesturing to the crowd with a tilt of her chin.

She didn't care all that much but she'd use any excuse to get closer to someone from home.

Matt smiled again. "Nice to meet you, Azaelia. And you too Poe." He said, saluting the raven jokingly. "And I don't know all that much about Edgar Allen Poe, but I've heard of him." Matt said, following her gaze to the group of teens at another part of the lake. He was thankful he didn't have to join their group. Sure, he could fake being a friendly 'I love the world' kind of guy, but groups were still not his thing. "I'm not sure. Maybe they are just introducing themselves. Do you want to go over and say hello?" He asked, grinning a bit lopsidedly. He didn't really want to go over, but if she wanted to know what they were doing she was probably a little bored.

"Sure we'll fit," was Kaede's response as she headed in the direction of the lake house she was staying in. There was a jeep parked out front. It was going to be a tight fit using only one car, obviously, but if people didn't mind squeezing in and sitting on top of each other, it'd all be fine.

"I'm driving," she stated as the jeep was reached, "since I still don't know who's actually good at driving and who'll just wreck the jeep," Kaede added, a mischievous expression plastering itself onto her features.

Xavier offered a smile at the ground, wondering what this 'party' would be like. He bit his lip as he watched the Kaede and Aiden flirting obviously. So he was straight. Xavier wasn't sure if there was even someone here that he could form a relationship with. He smiled at the others, faking a somewhat excited expression. "Now, or tonight?" He asked, wondering as he began to follow the others.

After cooling down a bit, Elliott turned his head to Xavier's question. "Well, I was thinking noon. More sun, and I have a feeling some of our companios are gonna turn into pumpkins." When he actually looked at Xavier's expression, he recognized it and lingered on his face. There was something...if he could just put a finger on it. See, Elliott was the type of person who was only happy if you were too. He was empathic, and, while it was a little obnoxious sometimes, all his gestures came from the heart. "We can chill before-hand. If you want." He said to Xavier, wondering what was going on in that particular head.

Xavier glanced at Elliot when he spoke to him. He shook his head quickly. "No, it's fine. It's better than doing nothing anyway." He said, smiling as he dropped his skateboard once he got on the pavement. Xavier hopped on it, bending his knees as he rode downwards to Elliot's house. He laughed, almost a genuine happy as the wind rushed absinthe his face.

Kadyn waited for other people to get in so she could squeeze in after. She was compact and light, so space or sitting on someone wasn't really an issue to her, she'd make due with what was left.

Azaelia ducked her head in an attempt to hide the growing smirk on her face. Honestly, she'd expected Matt to make the connection between the poem Nevermore and why she had named him Poe but... oh well. It was amusing none the less.

At Matt's next words, Azaelia raised her head. She arched her eyebrows at his question, very aware that she was wearing a nightgown which only consisted of white cotton and straps. Not to mention the bruises forming under her eyes from her sleepless night. But then she spotted something that made all of those petty worries go away. Something that made her chest tighten with slight panic.

The boy with the British accent was slipping away and she didn't know if this would be her last chance to get close to someone not so foreign.

"We could go with them. If you don't like crowds." she said so quickly that her accent slipped.

Not patient enough to wait for an answer, Azaelia grabs Matt's wrist and practically runs towards the two boys.

Poe had had enough and nipped her ear before flying off to their earlier resting spot in the pine tree. But Azaelia barely felt the nip. She barely felt her nightgown billowing up behind her and the rough pavement scratching the sensitive pads of her feet as the grass gave way to asphalt.

"Hey! Where are you two going?" she called to the boys, nearly tripping over her nightgown as she came to a halt at their sides. "We wanna come too."

Matt cocked his head in slight confusion as he thought he heard a sudden accent in her voice. He didn't have time to ask about it before she grabbed his wrist and dragged him towards the group. He nearly did a face-plant before he was able to lengthen his strides to catch up to her. He glanced over at her, wondering what had caused her sudden panic. He looked away as her nightgown flew up a little. He skidded to a halt and blushed as she announced that they wanted to join the group. He ran his hand through his hair and sighed quietly. He really wished his mother hadn't thought of going on a vacation in the first place. Maybe she would get bored and want to leave sooner than originally planned.
