Fantasy A Quest to Die For

Attacking the large fissures in the golem's stone flesh, explosives worked plenty well on rocks. She had three more bombs, they reacted... explosively... upon contact with air. After verifying their crystal was indeed safe, she bounds across the playing field without hitting an extra trap. She was obviously concerned with Ta'lak, but he was strong and could handle a little bit of crushing.
Abel nimbly ducks under and away from potential attacks, using her sword to give her enough leverage to climb higher up and reach for the more vital bits of this monster.

I would have sighed, but out of respect, I held it in. Though was it really true that the White Peak wasn't involved? The Emperor must've had a few too many drinks to summon this group. I continued to watch the battle: my eyes fell upon the deadra attacking the stone golem, heaving his greatsword into it's cracked leg. They were certainly excellent at fighting... some of them... but all that filled my mind was how they would manage to survive this supposedly life risking quest. And evetually, that train of thought led me to ponder upon my father.

Instantly, the scenery around me changed... no, not now! Not again! This was the worst time to enter this state! Even so, I couldn't control my vision as I so desired, and so I just waited until it disappeared. Through my waiting time, I tried to ignore the joyful field of flowers gazing up at the bright blue cloudless sky. I apparently stood in the middle of a road, the dirt creating a division between the flowered field and the thick forest on the opposite side. The sounds of battle had vanished, replaced with chirping birds and a gentle whisper from the breeze.

The nature was beautiful, but I only received a glance. For as long as I could, I kept my eyes shut tight, waiting for this vision to end. Just as I thought it had, I heard a distant sound of... metal armor rustling? I took a chance to see what was going on. About fifty yards away, a group of knights turned around the bend, walking towards me. I stood still, waiting to see if they posed friend or foe.

Not even a second later, two of the soldiers near the forest were lying on the ground, an arrow pierced through his helmet. A small pool of fresh blood started to form around the dead knight, and the others quickly backed up into the flower field to hide themselves. Two more died on the way, two arrows respectively ending their lives by a landing in their hearts. I started to follow the soldiers into the field, only until they took their helmets off, to which I assumed was for cover purposes. As I quickly scanned their faces, I noticed one stick out... father. I froze, knowing this wasn't real... but he was right there. His features looked as real as anything else.

As soon as my senses overcame shock, I rushed towards father through the weeds and flowers. Perhaps her had not heard me, for I arrived kneeling next to him and he didn't make a move. I would have whispered, had a few knights in darker armor charge from within the forest. Before I could stop him or myself, my father and I kept ourselves pressed against the ground... but it was no use. The weeds weren't tall enough, and the since the enemy knights had been closer, they easily spotted us betwixt the fauna. Father rushed forwards, drawing his sword and releasing an intimidating war cry. I pulled my own sword out, but stayed where I was. Didn't he know this was a trap for the archers?

"Wait, father!" His sword clashed against the enemy's, sending high shrills of screaming metal through the open air. One enemy down... another... and... Just as my heartbeat reached it's maximum, an arrow left it's home from the trees and landed directly in father's chest. His armor did nothing to stop the penetration, and he fell kneeling. Time seemed to slow down as I watched his face bury itself into the ground. I let out a mournful shout and my body suddenly felt more... powerful.

Jolting my head towards the forest, I charged in, faster than any normal human. Ten seconds was all I had... and all I needed. Little did I know that I had actually run and jumped off the overwatch, joining the battle, though I saw none of what was really in front of me. Just many trees, low branches, and enemies to kill. which had actually been the stone pillars and goblins, mixed with the flames and traps. Nothing else stuck out though, so I got to work, sending my first jab towards one of the dark armored warriors. I slashed through the monsters, in reality, the goblins. They deserved to die... for what they did to my father! My rage had motivated me further, but I only had eight seconds left, and had I not been in a hallucination, I would have tried to NOT stab Kylr Fall.

The laser fired didn't affect the nekomimi as much as she feared. Her pupils merely contracted severely and gradually dilated again, adjusting to the amount of lighting although the period of adjustment annoyed her to say the least. Seconds after the flash one of the goblins managed to sink its teeth into her right forearm and was rewarded with a sharp crack on the head. Perhaps that will give it a concussion, she thought hopefully. She retreated a few paces then pressed back against the wave more viciously than before, using her whip to cause a series of tripping and falling bodies where they were gathered the thickest. Meanwhile, she noted that the golem was being attacked, big hulking thing it was. The soldier she had glimpsed before shouted something but the roar of the battle was too loud. Once she took care of the majority of the enemies on her side she called to the expert swordsman... Saladin, she recalled, was his name. "There's not much left, hold off the rest while I help the others!" He had seemed to hear and acknowledge her previous praise with a bow, no doubt he would hear her now.

As she entered the fray, it did cross her mind that their teamwork could use major improvement. If they merely capitalized on how to use the great strength of some of them, perhaps success in this Quest would be within reach. Lithely dashing around the fighting pairs she strategically shot the senbon at her thigh at several goblins that were causing more difficulty. Her accurate aim and knowledge of pressure points allowed her to successfully paralyze or otherwise incapacitate several large brutes. Being focused on accuracy and avoiding pressure plates led her to be caught in a sudden pincer attacks. The pitiful creatures DO have brains? she thought with a smirk, ducked low at the final moment, letting them hit each other squarely in the face. ...Nevermind.

She began to look for an opening, the best would be direct access to the core. A few needles to the golem's source of animation would at least disable it enough for the other warriors to deal a finishing blow.

Note to self: riding on a golem's back is a lot harder than it sounds. That was the thought circulating through my mind and more or less bouncing off the walls of my skull as I dug both of the blades into two cracks on the golem's back. Twisting the hilts, I clenched my fists to the point where I knew my knuckles were bone white as the golem spun around erratically, its arms flailing as it attempted to both fend off the others attacking it as well as trying to grab at me. For a few seconds, it was actually working in our favor, with Ta'lak nailing the golem in the back of the knee. Sadly, that's also when things started to go downhill as the golem swatted the large daedra into a nearby pillar before managing to actually grab my leg.

"Oh plough it all!" I shouted in pain before I being torn away from my blades, hanging upside-down in front of the golem. It regarded me almost like one would an insect before I found myself being flung through the air almost absentmindedly, slamming into a pillar and falling down to the dirt floor below. Coughing and spitting out a mixture of blood and saliva, I groaned out before forcing myself to my feet.
Oh...okay, ready for more..." I forced out, struggling somewhat to breathe. I kept telling myself it was just another sparring lesson with Flint, forcing myself to get back into the game. I took a brief moment to examine myself, thankfully finding that my rib cage wasn't broken. The Lords of Shadow may have a right bunch of bastards, but their armor, especially the mottled gray and black leathers, was quite sturdy. Shaking my head, I focused on a strategy. i was weaponless, and hurting but if I could just-

I broke off my chain of thought as I barely noticed a sword thrusting towards me. Twisting violently, I let the sword pass me, attempting to reach for the owner of the blade's hand before I stopped short as I realized it was just a young man around my age with...red tinted silver hair? I didn't have time to properly scrutinize his appearance as he stopped suddenly, turning on his heel and launching another attack, which I ducked under. What was wrong with this guy?

One knight in particular dodged my swift attack. But that didn't matter. I continued to attack. Six seconds left, six moves left. I quickly conjured up a complicated combo. Within moments, I used all six seconds to execute it, pulling off every move to the best of my ability with my increased speed. Swipe left, acting as though I as using two hands, but take my right one off. Dash forward with my right arm, elbow extended. Swipe feet with left foot, and jump back while slicing upward with the sword in my left hand. Dash in once again, carefully leading with my sword as to not overextend myself, and... my time was up. But I could still fight. However, I would have to use less complex combos. I couldn't humanly move that fast.

How do I get out of this? Oh wait! My fire magic, realized Eric. He tried controlling the fire nearby to burn the net in which he was trapped in. Luckily, he was able to to burn the net. "All right. What was my plan again?"  He questioned. "Oh yeah! Fellow people, step on the pressure plates! One of them should be able to turn off the traps!" He hoped the announcement was able to through the others' heads.

Just then, he saw the huge, destructive rock golem. "Now that could be interesting!" exclaimed Eric. Dashing while purposely stepping on the pressure plates towards the golem, he wore a cocky expression. He jumped into the air with sword in hand, preparing to kill it from the back. "YAH!" cried out the arrogant knight. The sword did pierce the back, but, didn't seem very effective. The golem showed it by throwing Eric at a pillar. "I-impossible! That should've injured it at least!" whined Eric.

@The Lord of Sunlight

Verna groaned. The soldier had... stepped into the fight area... and proceeded to attack Kylr? This better not be another test from the Elf. And not only that, but he was fast. Inhumanly fast. From what she could tell, Kylr had been shaken loose by the golem and was already injured. From her vantage point and the shifting bodies blocking her view, she wasn't sure if he was injured or not. If he wasn't, then that put him a notch or two above the new entry. Before she could think up some plan of what to do in response, the maniac who had rushed out in a hot-headed frenzy and set off a bunch of traps was at it again, now apparently free from the net. She bashed two goblins in frustration sending them tumbling. At this point, she had various nicks and scratches from the terrain and enemy, nothing that her purr couldn't fix later on. For now, they exerted a small drain from her stamina.

Conscious of the fatiguing fighters, some more than others, an idea came to her mind to prevent anyone from setting off any traps. She focused her mind and chanted the spell words for Overfrost but directed it towards all the panels she could see. As most of the fighters were accruing near the pedestal she focused her energies there. After several minutes of dodging and weaving the trigger panels were frozen. The only downside was that if anyone stepped on one they would be in for a fall. Well, if they were that clumsy maybe they'd deserve it...? She chuckled to herself at the thought.

Eyes widening as the guy moved almost faster than I could track, i jumped backwards, just barely out of range of the horizontal attack, before I was bomb-rushed, catching an elbow to the gut. Flexing my abdomen, I held my breath and was actually ready for the leg sweep that followed, stopping it short with my ankle. However, I couldn't dodge out of the way of the next slash fast enough, having to duck under using the beginning of the set of Gabel's Game. It didn't save me entirely though, as when I straightened and pirouetted back, I found a cut doing diagonally up my chest. No time to worry about that though as he came charging at me once again, before his speed drastically decreased. It was a strange change, almost like he was sudden;y trudging through quicksand.

Smirking, I awaited the upward swing to come to just the right moment before weaving out of the way and attempting to gab onto the wrist, throwing an open palm out. If it connected, he would fall onto his back and be disarmed.

As soon as the boy stepped on the next pressure plate, a large square hole opened up on the roof and out slid what seemed to be a focusing crystal of some sort. Electricity crackled to life inside of it, and it shot out a great burst of lightning that hit the ground of the arena. The Golem let out a shriek of pain before it crumpled away into nothing but rock and earth, and all remaining goblins on the ground were incinerated.

However, the lightning began to travel between the trap pillars, still shooting fire and whirring saws and spikes around, but now gates of electricity began to leap between pillars. It would not be wise to touch them...

To top everything off, an ears plotting roar, one that sounded eerily close like a lion, reverberated through the dome, the echo of it making it seem much louder than it was. Stomps that shook the very earth began, and from the left gate, something else, something big, began to emerge from the shadows.

The first thing revealed was the head of a lion, it's man a dark brown and it's fur a dirty blonde. It's teeth were certain to be razor sharp, and it stared at the warriors with hungry eyes. As it moved into the light, something seemed off about it. The head of a goat was sticking out of its back, and it let out a bleat as it too, stared at the warriors. The beasts hind legs were that of a goat, while its front had the paws of a lion. Another sound pierced the air; a loud, awful hiss, and on the back of the beast, where the tail of a lion should be, was a great long snake. It flicked it's forked tongue in intimidation.

This beast was a Chimera, an amalgamate between a lion, a goat, and a snake. The lion roared once more before it charged at the nearest person it could find, which just happened to be a Daedra, the snake spitting poison and a magical sigil appearing from the mouth of the goat...

(And anyone else I've forgotten.)

Legault raised an eyebrow as he saw Lucius act a little strangely; his eyes had glazed over and his body was trembling. He was about to ask what was wrong when he suddenly leaped over the railing and fell down into the arena, charging at the nearest warrior, which happened to be the shady looking man from before. Legault was just about to jump after him, but the Emperor held out a hand and shook his head.

"No. Let us see what fate has in store for this one."

Legault, obviously annoyed, sighed at hearing this, but folded his arms together again.

"As you wish."

@Endronus

Abel's agility and lower point on the golem saved her from being thrown off, she wasn't equipped to handle crashing impacts as well as the others. Noticing the cat girl was a relief, noticing that idiot escaping his net was the complete opposite of a relief."Can I kill him!?" She demands Legault over the chaos, alerting the stone monstrosity to her presence as she climbs slightly higher with the aid of a forgotten blade.
She was struggling to pull out one of her explosives without breaking or spilling any of her other dangerous concoctions. Poison and acid were doubtful answers to this predicament. She steadies herself, verifying that Sylverna was still there, and holds a rather frightening jar up for everyone to see.
"You-- Cat! I'm gonna stick this explosive in a crack in his chest, you listening?" She calls, finally realizing that even her poor strategic skills were better than none,"I'm gonna stick it in there and can you reach from there? I have my bow, just shoot the damn thing before it falls out." She hadn't made the move yet, needing to verify that she wasn't going to kill herself with this awful idea. No one else was doing anything!

Just about then, there is electricity and the stone golem she was currently clinging to crumbles away. Instead of protecting herself from the fall, she angles herself so she can throw the improvised bomb before it went off in her hands. She had enough time to almost catch herself gracefully, but she ultimately failed. She landed heavily on her right side and a look of horror fills her eyes. She had either just noticed the chimera, or that sound of shattering glass was a vial of acid she kept stored on her belt. It hadn't eaten through the leather of her pants yet, and she had enough self presence not to strip her pants off in the middle of an arena.
Who knew acid could hurt so bad? She wonders with an absent sort of bemused horror.
She straightens with about as much dignity one could muster after falling off a golem and spilling acid off herself. "Hey, I'm pretty familiar with goats and snakes from where I'm from." She made an attempt to be witty, but was ultimately just trying to maintain her ego.

Eric stood up and realized he didn't have "his" sword. "Oh no, it's on the back of the golem," groaned Eric. But, the golem somehow go from a giant monster into a pile of stones. Not only that, the goblins incinerated and the pillars were now electric pillars. Before he even moved away from the pillar, Eric got hit with electricity. "GAH!!!" He cried out. Eric felt too weak to get up from the ground. "I-I need to get up...!"

Eric used a healing spell on himself to get up. Although, it only got rid of the pain from the electricity. "No matter, I can still- What in the Emperor's name is that thing!?" questioned Eric. It was the chimera. An ugly but poor animal, mixing a lion, a goat and a snake into one. "I need to protect the crystal from that thing!" panicked Eric. He jolted to the middle to secure the crystal. During his accelerated running, he thought to himself, Why are we even protect the crystal? It doesn't seem too important. We've wasted so much time protecting it! He slipped on the frozen pressure plates for thinking too long. "Why's it slippery now?" asked Eric.

Ta'lak heard a lot of noises, none of which could be singled out. His entire body was in pain. A low bearable pain, but pain nonetheless. His armor had saved his life, without a doubt. Luckily, he could see light through some cracks in the rubble around him. Good... Not completely buried. Though he was in a decent amount of pain, Ta'lak would definitely live; unbeknownst to him, his armor's glow was quite strong. Coughing, it dawned on him that this was all that human's fault. Damn mortals and their foolishness. Very rare was the occasion that Ta'lak got angry, however, this was a moment that fits the bill. He began to think of what he would do to the human once he got his hands on him.

With an extremely angry growl, Ta'lak exploded out of the debris. Well, he more or less just let most of it slide past him. He was seeing red, and in that red haze was a chimera, a decent sized one too. A Chimera! Bastard beast! Ta'lak had fought his share of them, but never was he alone and never was he without a weapon. His greatsword was lost to the crumbled pillar. Though his rage provided no actual bonuses to his strength, The fierce daedra no longer felt his pain or was hindered by it. The amount of adrenaline that was coursing through his veins was paramount. As he steadied himself, the Chimera started after him.

Giving out a guttural growl fit for the demon that he was, Ta'lak chuckled and yelled loud enough to shake the very earth beneath him. "Give me your all, Damned Beast!" At the provocation, The "Damned Beast" charged toward Ta'lak. With a grin, he ran straight for it, feeling his blood boil with hate. At this point, Ta'lak had forgotten that he was very likely to be killed by such an act. The two monsters met head on. The Chimera had opened its massive jaws to crunch him to a pulp but Ta'lak slugged its lower jaw with an uppercut and grasped the beast's head in his large arms. While holding his ground, he began to throw more heavy fists at the Chimera's face. During this, Ta'lak had not bothered to notice the goat head belching flames upon him. Nor did he see the giant snake rearing up, preparing to strike.

@Everyone, lol

When the giant monster walked into the arena, Tsuka watched as the weaker goblins and other enemies quickly ran away.

This monster wasn't something Tsuka wanted to fight - especially not in this strange arena designed to test him.

However, there were many others here. Strong allies. And people that could serve as a distraction. The emperor hadn't brought them here to kill them, this was a test. Tsuka acted accordingly.

The swordsman ran toward the person the chimera was charging at (Ta'lak). Tsuka didn't dare try to stop the monster from charging, but he did jump into the air, into the path of the snake's acid. Creating a shield made of darkness, Tsuka blocked the others from being hit by the snake's spray.

Creating this solid form of a shadow shield tapped into the darkness inside of Tsuka, but he kept it under control.

Falling back to the ground, Tsuka landed and moved back away from the monster.

"Everyone, listen! There are at least three parts of this beast. The lion has strength, the snake is cunning and agile. The goat appears to have magic.

"The most agile of us should distract the snake, those with strength fend off the lion. Anyone with long range attacks or magic should fight the goat!"

He didn't know if anyone would listen to him, working together was the best way to win here.

"I'll be distracting the snake if anyone wants to help me. Defeat the lion, stop the goat and distract the snake."

Tsuka ran toward the back of the huge enemy, standing under the snake and jumping up towards it.

Well, goddamn.
Not only was Ta'lak alive and well, he had just attacked a chimera alone with no weapon. That hit must have really taken a toll on his cognitive function. Abel may be a little loony, but she was smart enough to know that the Daedra was being an idiot. He was lucky that she was there to save his poor hide. That damned human was worthless, and the rest were otherwise preoccupied. She had at least retrieved her sword, along with a similarly sized one she had plucked from a corpse. She was making no attempts at stealth, booted feet slapping through puddles of blood and viscera with little care to volume. "You're a fool!" She howls in both frustration and amusement, it would have been hilarious did she not care whether or not this demon lived or died.
You may be unholy, but this wretch is an abomination. Slaughter it.

She knew a lot about snakes and their behaviour, so she had already begun her journey towards the chimera before the snake head had coiled into a striking position. She was admittedly undaunted by the goat head's flaming breath, not as bad as the acid eating through her clothing. She swiftly grabbed the reptilian third of the monster, blade singing across the monstrosity's flesh. Well, that's what she was aiming to do. A lot could happen within this short timespan.
"Did you know, it is extremely hard to suffocate a snake?" Abel hisses between her sharp teeth, keeping an eye on whatever other funny business my rear it's ugly head.

Eric stood back up and kept dashing towards the middle with caution. Of course, he made it to the crystal. "Hey! Hex woman! Help me out, please?!" requested Eric. Eric heard a stranger, wanting assistance to defeat the chimera or whatever it was. Defeating the lion, stopping the goat using magic or long ranged attacks, and distracting the snake. Eric summoned several fireball and launched at the goat and snake part of the chimera. "This should be very effective!" exclaimed the prideful knight. After blasting it with his magic, he looked at the crystal on its place, however, something felt suspicious about it.

Our task is to protect this crystal. But, we've wasted a lot of time protecting it. It looks way too normal for a crystal, thought Eric. Would something happen if I were to shatter it? With that question, he took out his ordinary dagger. It seemed like he was going to do something either idiotic or wise. "Maybe I should shatter it?..." questioned Eric in a hesitant mood. But, his thoughts vanished once the chimera roared. Oh yeah, we have to defeat the chimera...

@slachance6 @Tsuna @The Lord of Sunlight

She had just finished freezing the last triggered panel when a burst of electricity and the scent of burning flesh reached her. The golem was now a pile of rocks but out of the darkness came a Chimera a horrible, unnatural creature. They were supposed to be fairly rare and she wondered how the Emperor got ahold of it. Ta'lak then burst out from beneath rubble, charging it without a weapon. Brute strength, eh? The other demonic warrior assisted him and the fighters began to focus on the new monster. But instead of going for the monster, she spotted from the corner of her eye the idiot-human going for the crystal. What in the five skies is he thinking? She decided she would confront the idiot himself; if he wasn't going to be an asset, he sure as sure wasn't going to be a hindrance. Perhaps she should incapacitate him on the spot before he could do any more harm?  Mm, better not. Better question him first. So she reluctantly began after the guy.

"WHAT are you THINKING?" She shouted to the warrior. And then she murmured, "If he doesn't have a good answer I'm sticking him with these needles..."

Ezra retreated to the center near the crystal to form a last line of defense, beginning to concentrate on a powerful spell that would be centered on the chimera. It was still an extremely fierce creature that didn't seem to be affected at all by her glamour, but she felt safe behind the more physically tough fighters. "Attack its snake and goat heads," she commanded. "The lion seems to be the central head. I might have an easier time taking it out when I'm not dealing with one creature instead of three fused ones. Especially the goat, it'll weaken the magic resistance."

Saladin Yusuf

The black robed Arabian had been doing all in his power to help the group achieve their objectives. The fight with the golem may have been messy and tired many of them but before they could earn a moment's breath, a new obstacle had presented itself. A Chimaera. This one is a mixture of a snake, goat and a lion. Saladin pondered for a brief moment how the Emperor came into possession of such a creature. While there are various possibilities that the Chimaera came about, he recalled briefly of a fight against a similar creature a decade ago. A fight where Saladin shouldn't have survive.

From the right flanks, Saladin was about to assist the others to take down the Chimaera when he caught a glimpse of the silver armored knight attempting to tamper with the small crystal they were instructed to protect. The cat-like lady was there too, questioning the knight. In an instant, he rushed to her side without a moment's pause. Saladin held his palm out towards the knight,

"Hold your dagger friend! We know not of the crystal's powers and it's best we leave it as it is. It is unwise to disturb an artifact that could be capable of untold destructive capabilities. We're here to protect it, not destroy it."  @NextGenRolePlayer@Nyctophiliac

I already knew my time was up... I felt it. And my enemy must've too, because as soon as I leaped towards them, they sidestepped and went for a grab to my wrist. Luckily, I already knew his intended action. During my military career, I had learned to guide the battle; to use moves that would make your enemy use certain counters. It was a tricky thing to do, but I could always think ten steps ahead. Some of the well-known soldiers could think up to twenty moves, but they had studied the art for years beyond my count. It was basically their job.

As fast as I could, I turned my back towards the enemy's grab. Luckily, I had blocked his wrist, but unluckily, everything around me... disappeared? Not the scenery but... where were all the others? Something else bothered me too. The trees began to emanate odd crackling sounds, as though a deep electrical current ran within them. But I needed to focus; my back had been turned to the enemy. As soon as my next foot landed, I side flipped forwards, holding my blade out at an angle to prevent a predicted block.

Ta'lak was too focused on holding the giant lion head still to notice what was going on around him. Not the flames, both from the Chimera and his fellow companions. Nor did he notice when they jumped in to save his skin. All of Ta'lak's being was hell-bent on killing the beast. Still in a stalemate grab for leverage, He did see that the Chimera was bleeding from his nonstop punches. Good. Bleed some more while you are at it. Ta'lak had lost none of his rage, constantly feeding thoughts of why he had been put in this position into his mind. Grrrr! Time to end this!

After that thought, he reared back his arm. Instead of going for a punch, Ta'lak shoved his hand into the Chimera's mouth and grabbed its tongue. Before anything further could happen, it closed its jaws around his arm. The sharp teeth went through his armor and deep into his flesh, causing Ta'lak to roar in anger more than pain. Without thought toward his own self-injury, he ripped his appendage out of the large, teeth-filled mouth. Mangled arm and all, he grabbed both sides of the Chimera's head and threw all of his strength into a headbutt, horns first. There was a crunch as the horns of his helm broke through the softer bone of the beast's nose. For the first time, it bellowed in pain and dashed backward, getting away from Ta'lak.

Ezra, the girl who had been in Glamour (which obviously did not work on the new beast), approached the pedestal area and began shouting orders, apparently wanting to get a good shot with one of her spells. The rest of the warriors were busy at work trying to injure one of the three heads of the monster. Saladin neared the place she was standing as well since the goblins were now fried or otherwise gone. Luckily his words would bring some sense to the boy who had wreaked so much destruction already. The actions of the soldier recaptured her attention again. With her sharp eyesight, it looked as if he was moving somewhat unnaturally. Not that he wasn't moving with grace and skill, but that there was something off about the way he recklessly attacked Kylr without reason as if he were an enemy. Strange... but the Emperor didn't seem to mind watching safely at a distance. He  certainly was in no mortal danger.

A bellowing roar of pain caused her to turn. Oh good... it's the Chimera and not one of us. The Daedra seemed to have given it a good beating and then some. Good for him!

I smiled as the soldier blocked my wrist and evaded in the correct, though predictable, counter. The side-flip was a nice touch, though still, without that burst of...whatever it was, he was still fighting as a soldier would: predictable and structured. However, I dare not let myself grow overconfident, as that loss of speed could very well be a fluke made only to catch me off guard. Reversing my grip on the poniard, I watched as his blade already came out, expecting to block a blade, which meant the best course of action would be Goromand's Dive. Leaping forward the moment his feet touched the ground, I lead with my bade before pivoting into a shoulder bash meant to stun, while I continued the turn with my poniard extended in a reverse-diagonal arc. I was starting to show a couple cards in my hand, so to speak, with this move as it wasn't the most common, but I was banking on that being the reason I succeeded in it.

The moment my blade kept swinging without any interception, I knew I had to do something quick. I half expected the enemy to attack during that move, but thankfully, I had already thought ahead. My earlier move had been used to gain some distance, which I quickly became grateful for when I heard the rush of footsteps. Out of the corner of my eye, I saw the foe charging towards me with a reversed grip upon his sharp tipped daggers, and a shoulder leading his direction. I had just the move for this. As soon as I could, I fell onto one knee, expertly faking a hallucination transition. I had heard enough from others to know what to do. Letting my body tremble, and raising my hand to my head, I let out a scream, filled with the agony I felt from when I watched my father die. Hopefully it had been enough to startle the foe, but I didn't dare take a glance. One wrong move and it was all over. But why was I cowering? Simply because one never expects another to cower in battle in such a way, but to me, it wasn't much of a cower. It was more along the lines of deception. Either way, I still had my sword firmly grasped in my right hand, and my right leg was ready to extend, causing my opponent to fall. It wasn't a whole fluke... just a test.

Aside from the various shouts, yells, and occasional cursing from the chimaera fight, it was the soldier boy that caught her attention. He seemed to have gone mad. Wandering into a chaotic arena, attacking one of her teammates (they were all teammates at this point, she supposed) and then he fell to one knee and screamed. Was the guy mad?! she mused. Seeing that the idiot-boy wasn't going to do anything too stupid any time soon-- and Saladin could take care of him if he did-- she dashed over to the ensuing battle between the two men, casually but deftly flicking a senbon needle at his knee to make sure he really was incapacitated. She wasn't going to watch her teammate fight alone. The least she could do was attempt backup.

The soldier fell to his knees, and I continued in my diagonal descent, only to have my eyes widen in shock as numerous mishaps erupted at once. The first being the soldier screaming in complete pain before my shin collided with something in the middle of my movement, causing me to stumbled while still turning. The soldier collapsed under me, and raised an arm, whether to attack or ward off I didn't know, but it soon became apparent that the small detail didn't matter as my poniard slid into his arm with the slick sound of a shoddy blade meeting skin and most likely muscle tissue. I didn't have time to savor the small victory, as I finished my topple on top of him, my forehead slamming into his chest plate, leaving me open to counter attack and utterly stunned, unable to tell which direction was up. The sound of some creature roaring did nothing to clear my senses.
