Naddy sigh in relief as the blizzard slowly died down. She waited patiently for Gavreel, standing by the main gate. Her men had already gone ahead of her, scouting the village, double-checking all possible hiding places. Tortuga was a big chunk of land, going on a one man hunt was very hard.

Gavreel saw Naddy and he rushed towards her. He was then next to naddy breathing heavily


"Stopping that blizzard took a bit of my energy" He said, looked at naddy and smiled


"So.. what are we gonna do next?" He smiled "You're the one leading this search"

Naddy grinned. It was an odd feeling, being appointed by authority.


"Getting out of shape?" She teased him a bit, despite the situation. She eased up, now that the blizzard was gone.


"I've had my men hunting him down in all of Tortuga. I dont have the authority to ask Alistair, Katherine, or Major Oliver, they're under you, Gavreel." She looked ahead of her. "My officer's orders are to scout and alert me when he's found. They are not to engage. MacWatt's formidable, and I wont have any more casualties." She said, her strategy going over and over in her head. She prayed that it would work.

He then looked at the sky


"Yes, never engage MacWatt" he said with fury in his eyes.

Katherine heard running foot steps outside her door and decided to check it out. She peeks out and sees Garveel running towards the entrance. She quickly changes into her uniform and heads in the direction of Garveel. Outside she sees Naddy and Garveel, what could they be doing this late at night?


"Sir, mam, what is going on?"

Naddy stopped walking, bring both her and Gavreel to a halt. She looks back and sees Petty Officer Katherine dashing towards them. She nodded, acknowledging her presence.


"Officer Katherine." She greeted her. "We're hunting down MacWatt, I believe that he, and not Gavreel, is responsible for the weather anomalies." She eyed Gavreel as she talked.


"Orders are to scout and hunt. Do not engage. Do not." She grit her teeth, remembering the men in the medical bay, the men in body bags to be shipped home to their families. Her heart ached. This is the cost of being an admiral in the navy.

"Didn't plan on it." she says walking up to them. The cold weather had died down but it was still cold. "So Admiral, could you give me the run down on who this MacWatt is? Ive only been here a couple days and really haven't gotten any information on what is going on."

Naddy frowned.


"James MacWatt was a great man from the Navy once. He disgraced himself and the Navy's name with gross misconduct. He was stripped of his position, and now he's wanted for multiple crimes such as piracy and murder." She said calmly as they waked.

"Really." She looks at Naddy. "I'm sorry, I didn't mean to make you upset." She didn't know how but she could tell that talking about McWatt made her upset.

MacWatt grimaced. His blizzard had stopped; that could only mean one thing. Sol's around here... He looked around, and saw that his snow was already starting to melt under the sun. Damn sun.


Well, then, MacWatt thought to himself. If that's how they want to play it...





MacWatt piled a large mound of snow, melted it, and boiled it, and send it as a large wave through out the town, with the purpose of enveloping all of the Navymen in a flood of scalding water.


Freeze that, "Admiral," MacWatt grinned to himself.

The PTD buzzed like there's no tomorrow.


"He's been spotted! He's headed towards the base he's he-" the rest of the transmission drowned in static. Naddy tsked and started running to the town. He'll surely be there.


"Katherine, are you armed?" She said in a rush. She had a bad feeling in her gut… and it hurts her because so far, she hasn't been wrong.


Strange. It's… warmer. Naddy cursed under her breath when she saw the wave that's going to wipe out her officers. Without saying goodbye, she ran in a flash knowing that Katherine and Gavreel would catch up soon enough, pushing as many of them out of the way as she can… but she couldn't get all of them. Rage fueled the Admiral. He's going to pay.


"WHERE ARE YOU, YOU STUPID OLD PIRATE?!" She shouted.

"Righ' here" MacWatt said calmly. He walked past the mass of dead officers and stopped when he was in talking distance of Naddy.


"What's wrong, Navy lapdogs? Ne'er seen a real pirate before?" MacWatt mocked the look on his "aggressors'" faces. "Yeh lot wanted me, well here I am. Make yer move, girl..."

Katherine chased after Naddy. 'What is going on?' she said as she caught up with her. When she caught up she seen her and McWatt. Dead officers laid dead on the ground. This was terrible. Katherine walks up and stays just a few inches behind Naddy. 'If the bastard wants a fight then I'm here to give it to him.' she says to herself.

Naddy badly wanted to run to him and cut his head off with her sword, but she knew better. MacWatt wasn't a pirate to be messed with. Looking around, they were surrounded by ice, water, and snow. This is his turf, I have to be careful. She calculated. She clenched her jaw. Stupid Pirates.


"I've seen many pirates and they're all the same." Naddy called back to him. "Filthy and honor-less and disgraceful." She spat.


"And you're no more than that, MacWatt. And I, Admiral Bernadette Contun, will bring you to justice." She drew out her sword, holding it with one hand. Glaring at MacWatt. She acknowledged Katherine's presence but she didn't want to risk looking at her. Her eyes were focused on the pirate.

"Tch. Yer jus' like every Navy official I've ever met. Arrogant and self-righteous. Yeh think th' Navy can do no wrong, even when it commits heinous acts that pirates can only dream o' commitin'. Let me tell yeh a story. It's about yer beloved Navy..."


MacWattthen sat down on a storage barrel and relit his pipe. When he was satisfied, he spoke again.


"Are yeh both familiar with th' New World?"

Katherine's eyes light up at his words. She had heard of the New World, but only from her brother. She glances at Naddy. She didn't think it was her place to talk to MacWatt, plus it could get them into trouble. Talking during times like this was never her strong suit.

Naddy watched him carefully. She wasn't moving, she's not taking her gaze off of him. Not taking any chances. He's not killing anyone when he's talking. Naddy told herself.


"What about it?" She replied harshly. She didn't enjoy conversations with pirates. She hated doing anything with them. She hated how they continously ruin her life… starting from her father to present. She moved back one step, placing herself beside Katherine.

"Well, my dear," MacWatt giggled to himself darkly, "sit back, 'cause it's a long story. Yeh see, one day, the most powerful Empire in th' world decided it needed more gold. It had heard about the Aztec Gold of the heathen gods that the Spaniard Cortes had found, and decided it wanted in. So, the country sent groups o' colonists teh occupy different regions an' git th' gold. When they arrived, th' natives were scared of th' new arrivals, and attempted teh defend their home. So, obviously, th' colonists thought the savages were hidin' th' gold. So the Empire sent th' Navy..."


"Do yeh know what happens next? Guess what th' Navy did, then! Go on, guess what we did!!!"

Naddy grit her teeth. She knew this story. She knew most of the Navy's dark history. She kept her lips pressed in a thin line. She didn't want to respond.

MacWatt grinned nastily at her silence.


"We razed them. Obliterated 'em. We spared no one. Not man, woman, or child. I myself took great pleasure in paintin' th' trees with their brains. And why wouldn't I? They told us they were only savages. Barely human. We were th' harbringers o' justice, an' o' death. We were th' Navy! We were always in th' right!"


At this, MacWatt began to cackle hysterically. Tears rolled down his eyes as the air was filled with his horrid laugh. After a while, he calmed down and began to speak again.


"An' yeh wanna know th' best part? After all of that, and it turns out: there was no gold! The natives were tellin' th' truth th' whole time! Ain't irony just cruel?!"

"Excuse me, 'justice'?" MacWatt spat out. "There's no such thing as justice! If justice were real, God Himself would come down from heaven and lynch EVERY...SINGLE...ONE OF US!!!" He bellowed the last few words as loud as he could. "Th' cold, hard truth is mankind is a crime against so called justice! That's th' harsh yet beautiful lesson th' Sea teaches yeh. Men lost their lives ignorin' that lesson, or worse, their souls. Sure, I had a choice, and it was teh think for myself. That is a choice I will never regret. The Navy's on'y interested in yeh as long as you'll blindly follow their orders."


MacWatt stared in the direction of the docks for a while getting a glimpse of the sea. After a while, he turned back.


"Why am I even tryin' teh explain teh yeh? Yeh Navymen never learn. Yeh think yeh rule th' sea, but the fact is, yer just...like...me...an insignificant speck, a petty lit'l zero. I jus' hope teh God yeh don' learn that th' way I did."
