Fantasy A Nation In Havoc OOC (2.0)

I mean no offense, but you're really good at thinking of reasons for Ambrose not to go. Surely you could direct that creativity toward thinking of a plausible reason why he might want to? I mean, the king's decree thing works, obviously, but I find the idea of conscripting every doctor in the city to this tournament no more or less reasonable than any other multitude of science-y reasons Ambrose might have to attend.

I didn't really say any other reason than "he can't be assed". The antibiotic thing was because I am assholishly anal about stuff like that, so sorry about that.

I just think it would make sense in-universe for doctors to get a notice that goes something like: "Due to the increase in traffic because of the tournament, every capable doctor is to attend in order to guarantee the safety of the citizens and any visitors. If you do not wish to attend, you must pay a fine of X as compensation." Since we are allowed to build upon the world too, I thought it would be a nice tidbit to add, since countries in the real world do similar things. Like I said, nothing really big needs to be done, I can just mention it in my post and we go on as usual.

The reasons he provided are perfectly plausible. How is being conscripted less realistic than Ambrose trying out his new potentially dangerous medicine he had just discovered on people that would have their absence noticed by more than one person in what is arguably one of the most densely packed places in terms of people? All organised fighting, no matter how safe has some sort of medical professional. I do not understand how Ambrose cannot be the medical professional of this one.

I could care less. Honestly we should just let it happen at this point and stop arguing about it.
just have him go for SOME reason
retcon it
i dont care as long as you guys post

I didn't say he couldn't be. And I didn't say it was particularly unreasonable for there to be such a conscription. What I meant was that I don't think it's any MORE reasonable or unreasonable than Ambrose having some reason of his own to attend.

"Ambrose trying out his new potentially dangerous medicine he had just discovered on people..." is exactly the sort of thing I would expect an amoral scientist with more interest in results than patient-care to do. As for whether they're high profile or will be missed, some might be. Some, however, may not necessarily be missed by anyone important enough to concern Ambrose. Raimi and Decius, for example? Ambrose would have to find a way to make that distinction. He could use the guise of a medical questionnaire. "Do you have any family or friends you would like to contact?" or some similar question seems like something that wouldn't rouse much suspicion, but would give Ambrose a way to sort out people who would be suitable to take later on. He might ask those particular folks to check in with him for a "follow up" at a later date at some other location.

But look, it doesn't really matter. The king's decree thing works too. Either way, it all works out the same in the end.

I haven't thought of this particular idea actually, and it's pretty cool, so I'm stealing it for later.

You're welcome. I'll expect a check in the mail, thanks.

Don't use it all at once.

Man... where would Kruziik be? He's not royalty or nobility. He's a guy who has magic. Basically an on site magician for entertainment!

Where would the King put Kruziik in the parade Duke of Doge Duke of Doge ? Unless he let some "royal party planners" set things up for him.

I'd assume he would have at least some kind of mage projecting a ward over himself and Nia in case of an assassination attempt, but whether or not that guy is kruzik is up to you

WTF, I didn't receive a notification for the ooc chat, stupid website...

If there was a performance, like jugglers and crap, would that be before or after the tournament?

There's three segments, the archery competition, the melee, and the joust. I'd guess the jugglers and stuff happen between each of those to entertain people while they set up for the next part. Maybe some before the first event and some after the last as well. That's my guess, anyway.

Yeah, I might have Jen 'pretend' to be a performance act so she can show off some tech to the princess, since she doesn't trust going through other engineers who would steal her ideas.

Hm. So I guess we're all in one place now. Either the festivities can start soon or whatever plot thing is supposed to happen, I guess. Maybe the king and/or the princess should make some sort of speech to kick things off so we all know we can start posting about the competitions and/or plot stuff.

I didn't know it either. I just meant it as a colorful way of describing the axe, not a literal description. Call it a bit of unintentional foreshadowing.
