The idea can only get bigger as we could have a parade welcoming the foreign warriors, like
augmentedspartan
said, merchants form all over the world and Dalania could line their stalls up in a certain market area near the stadium where they can sell great goods. We could have the feast later which would give Nia a reason and a chance to interact with the other characters.
Also, I think that Duke of Doge 's idea of wooden weapons are better. Simply because, against heavy armour, a sword is the worst possible choice of a weapon there could be. You see, in medieval times, people did not just whack away at each other's armour hoping for one to fall. I know it sounds crazy, but they would grab the blade with their hand and use the sword as a spear to stab the openings of their opponent's armour with. Or they would even hold the blade with both hands and use the pommel and the hilt of the sword as an improvised mace.
It is the craziest shit I've read recently but apparently if you get the right grip, you can hold the blade without cutting your hand.
So really, the only good weapons vs armour would be ones with weight with Hammers being the best, followed closely by Maces, then Axes due to their weight and then with the sword and the spear lagging behind. Although, depending on the skill of the fighter, the curvatures of the axe could be used to take control the enemy weapon/arm or whatever meaning that a skilled axe user in armour could potentially be better than a hammer user in armour simply because the axe allows for the development of skill instead of simply hitting shit with the hammer.
Bit of a tangent but point is, no swords. The wooden weapons are better.
