Clever thoughts mean nothing unless acted upon.
Ryan Donahue
He nodded at Sinead's suggestion to join the go talk to the couple although he was tempted to feign offense to her calling the car a toy. Still, Sinead wasn't wrong as Ryan did indeed want to examine the vehicle, especially the engine, but he figured he would see it sooner or later as he and the car would share a similar space in the future. Ryan could see that James' mind was obviously not on the new Bentley and he wasn't about interrupt the moment to talk shop. So he listened as the women talked briefly and picked up the gist of why James' looked so cheery before they headed inside. Figuring that he'd let the man bask in the moment and he would be able to congratulate the man sometime later during the night, Ryan held off for the time being.***
Having taken off his cardigan and tucked it away somewhere out of the way, Ryan had been keeping a low profile near the fringes of the party. He sat in a rather plush chair, nursing a glass of whiskey as he watched everyone around him interact. Even though he made small talk with some of his fellow mobsters, Ryan couldn't help but feel a little lonely as he had been in Dublin for not even two months and hadn't really connected the local crew yet. Those that he had known from before had become distant in their own ways. Conor's relationship with Alex Romano had put a major rift between the two once friends and although Ryan was slowly coming to terms with it, they weren't on the best of terms for the time being. James had become the head of the family and was constantly busy with work, while they still had similar interests and he was still very loyal to the man, Ryan and James' haven't had many instances to actually pave out the rough spots of their friendship that had developed over the last decade. While Sinead had grown into a woman over the course of ten years, her base personality hadn't changed. Ryan however felt conflicted as he still felt protective of her but knew he had to keep her at a distance for his own well being. His mind wandered to the youngest Sullivan, Carrick, for moment as he moved a glass of whiskey in circular motion. Ryan had heard hide nor hair of him since his return to Chicago and thought that he had moved to Dublin with the rest of the family but had heard nary a word about him. Making a mental note to ask someone later about him, Ryan let his memories of Carrick slip back into the recesses of his mind.
While he had come to be on friendly terms with Finn, he was currently talking to Conor. Jackson had seemed to sociable fellow but Ryan thought that he ought to avoid the man for the evening as he prefered to be conscious for the job later that evening. Not wanting to be tempted by Jackson's riling of the partygoers, Ryan left the comfort of the chair and made his way the front of the manor and out on to the front porch. The sun had made its way below the horizon and he could feel temperature dropping but he paid little attention to it as leaned against one of the many support columns and looked over towards the garage, letting the thoughts of metal and oil occupy his thoughts until the cold would eventually drive him back inside.
