Aliana Cartwright

There was something restless inside of Ali that made it difficult for her to sleep. It could be between Lucy's wedding and the excitement of attending or the mission Conor and the boys were on. She was nervous when he had to be taken in for questioning, but knew she couldn't allow herself to dwell on that too much. If she did, she would freak herself out and then she'd have a real issue on her hands. She was supposed to be the rock for the rock; Sinead's rock so she would be strong enough for Lucy and not freak out themselves. But when Ali saw Conor's face the next day, she knew everything was going to be fine and that she shouldn't worry. Instead, she was going to enjoy the wedding along with everyone else.

The wedding altogether was something she was glad she got to be a part of. Watching James and Lucy say their vows, the smiles and looks on their faces made her start to think about her own relationship with Conor. He had gotten rid of the men who took everything from her. Tommy's life was now avenged along with Leo's. They hadn't died in vain and the people who took their lives were now gone; they got exactly what they deserved. Granted, the two of them were never going to come back after this, but she would not only have mementos of them but a better conscience.

Once the wedding was over, Ali said her congratulations to the newly married couple and thanked James. She didn't have to specify for what, knowing that he'd understand exactly what it was she was speaking on. Afterward, she found herself walking around with a champagne flute in her hand, taking everything in. Her life was peaceful now and she wouldn't have to keep looking over her shoulder to see who was going to take away someone she loved next. Instead, she could spend her time with her boyfriend, who she seemed to have thought up. She felt his arm wrap around her waist and smiled, looking over her shoulder at him.

She playfully rolled her eyes at him and shrugged her shoulders. "I only wanted to say I love you once in my life and I have. To you." She took a deep sigh and sipped her drink before she continued. "So, unfortunately, you're stuck with me." When he mentioned if they were going to get drunk she happily nodded her head. "Is that even a question? Then after, we can go to either my place or yours, you can choose since-" she cut herself off, pulling out a small silver key and putting it into his pocket, "-you have keys to both." She winked at him, finally doing something she had wanted for a while. Before he could respond, she gave him a serious look. "Conor... Thank you. For, everything really."

Lucy Smiling gif.gif The rest of the night had gone as smoothly as to be expected and after far too many drinks, Lucy had passed out fully clothed on her bed. She woke early the next morning due to the excitement she was feeling for the wedding, waking before the others, she had moved downstairs to start the coffee. The preparations for the wedding were just as stressful as they had been the first time even though everything was set and ready to go. All that had been missing was the men and Lucy had begun to worry, pacing her room upstairs as she wondered aloud what could have possibly gone wrong for them to have been missing like they were. Eventually, the men called and showed up not too long after, the wedding got off to a late start.

Lucy didn't care, only feeling relief that her husband was back in the safety of their home, ready to marry her for the second time around. Walking down the aisle again was just as scary as the first time around and Lucy blushed deeply under everyone's stare, forcing herself to look to James instead, his smile did wonders for her nerves and she stood taller as she made it to him at the end. Everything about this ceremony wasn't new to them but it felt like the first time all over again. When James stuttered, Lucy squeezed his hands gently and smiled. The blonde knew how he was feeling. At any moment she was expecting something to happen, something that would be too far out of their reach to control.

As she exchanged her own vows, Lucy struggled to keep her calm composure, as always. But both of them had made it and once the rings were exchanged, the pair didn't waste any time sealing the deal with a passionate kiss. Lucy was relieved and she found herself looking to her children after it was all over, feeling so blessed that they were able to witness this special moment, and this time around they were safe. The party started and Lucy was pulled into James' arms for a dance.

He spoke to her softly and the words filled her with even more warmth as they swayed gently from side to side. He had provided her with the best wedding present of all, safety for herself and those around her. A smile grew on her red lips as she looked into his eyes, "I love you so much." She whispered, slowly shaking her head in disbelief. "Seems like those IWU were all talk.." With that, she decided that all talk of business could wait for another day.

The blonde looked around as others joined them around the dance floor and Lucy slowly leaned her head down to rest it against James' shoulder. "You look so handsome." She commented gently, "I can't believe I get to have you all to myself again."

Ryan Donahue
tuxedo.jpgAlthough he shared James' irritation that of the mistimed explosion that rocked the Dublin industrial district, Ryan was also relieved as he wasn't really looking forward to the prospect taking another bullet and extending his stay. Still, he did his best to enjoy the rest of the evening after changing into more appropriate attire. It resulted in a rather nasty hangover in the morning, but it helped sell his albi as the Garda grilled him. While Ryan only answered what was absolutely necessary, he tried to get as much shut eye whenever they weren't harassing him.

By the time they were released, Ryan was in much better shape. Especially so after a rather greasy brunch. The wedding, albeit delayed, went off without a hitch. But Ryan's mind was thousands of miles of away during most of it. Once the reception had gotten under way, Ryan decided it was time to make the rounds and say his final farewells. It didn't take long, and was mostly painless, although Conor did demand that they have some shots of whiskey.

Approaching bride and groom at the table, Ryan wished them well. He'd already spoken to James several days ago about his departure from not only Ireland, but the lifestyle itself. Ryan reminded the man that if he ever needed him, all he'd have to do is call. Fortunately, the music started playing, cueing the happy couple to take to the dance floor.

Saving the hardest goodbye for last, it didn't take long for Ryan to spot the petite redhead speaking to Finn. Approaching from a blind spot, Ryan overheard something he assumed he probably shouldn't have. Before tapping Sinead's shoulder, he gave doctor a dispassionate shug to show his lack of interest in the man's preferences. "Mind if borrow the Princess for a second?"

Skye couldn't help but smile when Syd told her he was the lucky one. After being made to feel worthless and unwanted during her time in the orphanage, it was still sometimes hard to believe how far she'd come. She'd found someone she cared for and in return he loved her too. Not only that, but the Porters and the Callahans had all accepted her into their homes. It was hard not to feel victorious in the knowledge that she had proved the bullies wrong and she was worthy of being cared for. "I guess we'll have to meet in the middle and agree that we're both lucky to have found each other," she sweetly reasoned.

Skye accepted the champagne from Syd and soon brought the glass to her lips so she could swallow the alcohol. "To the happily married couple and to this happily dating couple," she toasted, the latter couple being herself and Syd. There was then a brief silence as they both listened to the piano music and Syd asked her for a dance. Skye nodded her head and placed the glass down on the table next to her.

"Lead the way," she suggested. She stood close to Syd as they held hands, assuming a position so they could began dancing together. She rested the side of her face on his shoulder and softly smiled to herself as she took a little while to absorb the moment. "I wish we could dance like this forever," she softly told him.

Conor Sullivan

Conor couldn't help but smile at Aliana's words about him being the only one she wanted to profess her love to. It came as a small relief to hear such words. Having known how much of a decent guy Tommy had been and that Aliana still wore the bracelet he'd given to her, it was easy for Conor to fear he would never be good enough. Yet, he was reassured by her words and having no apparent reason to feel threatened by his deceased friend. "I wouldn't want to be stuck with anyone else, love. I ain't ever letting you go. I'll tie you up, if I have to," he playfully remarked, sending her a flirtatious wink.

"Ahhh, pissed up, it is!" he said, happy to hear her agreement about their drinking plans. Conor watched as she brought a key into view and then dropped it into his pocket. "Well... let's go back to whichever place our drunken minds can remember later tonight..." he suggested. As it registered with him that she'd actually given him a key to her place and therefore taken another step in their relationship, he couldn't help but turn serious as he acknowledged how big a step it was. He was sure by now that Aliana was the one and he couldn't wait to keep exploring their relationship. "I should be thanking you. You've been so patient with me and you make me feel like the happiest bloke in the world when we're together. I'm just glad we're here for each other and that you've helped me get my shit together... on numerous occasions." He placed a gentle kiss on her lips. "I just hope you're still thanking me when I start messing your place up. Tink once accused me of being messier than the kids!"

Sinead Callahan

1553722470284.pngSinead felt someone tapping her shoulder and quickly turned her head to see Ryan standing close by. She sent her friend a warm smile which turned to a grin when he referred to her as the "Princess" - something which he'd been calling her since they were children. She looked back to Finn and George, sending the two men a reassuring smile before giving her cousin a quick hug. "Keep smiling, honey," she told Finn.

Sinead got up from her seat and turned to face Ryan. "I was going to come find you next," she told him. Regardless, she was glad he'd come to find her first. They hadn't spent much time together at all since the evening he'd admitted his feelings to her, and she'd often felt that distance between them, even when distracted by Peter and the children. Figuring Ryan might want to talk to only her, she walked with him around a quiet area of the large garden. "How are you doing, stranger?" she asked him, maintaining a bright smile on her face. "We haven't talked much at all since... for quite some time," she pointed out. "I've missed ya."

Ryan had hoped to make the farewell brief, as the dull ache in his chest reminded him as to why. Saying nothing as Sinead led the way to a more secluded route of the garden, as he wasn't sure how to honestly answer Sinead's initial question. Intrinsically, he was fine, but knowing what potentially awaited for him back in the U.S., his head was a mess. It took a second for him to catch what Sinead was referring to, and when it did, the weight of it showed in his dour expression.

Not wanting to seem off-handed, Ryan sat down on the marble stone bench that was nearby, "It's not the only reason why I came to speak with you, but yes. What I said that evening wasn't fair of me, so I'm sorry for bringing it up." Ryan had worried that he would struggle when it time came to say the words, but it came out surprisingly fluid. He gave her a moment to take in what he said before continuing. "With that being said, I'm leaving, Princess. I need to go back to the States, sooner the better," as he spoke, Ryan found his thoughts starting to drift, and paused as he wrangled them.

When Ryan seated himself down on the bench, Sinead remained standing but faced him directly. She absent-mindedly began curling a strand of her red hair around her index finger as he began to speak. When he apologised for what he'd said on the evening he told her how he felt about her. She let out a sigh before sitting down on the bench next to her friend. "That's okay. I understand it can't have been easy. Both harbouring those feelings and telling me about them must have been equally difficult for you," she reasoned. She gazed straight ahead as she observed a group of wedding guests socialising further down the garden. She hoped that Ryan and her could maintain their friendship, regardless of what had been said some months ago,

The subject soon travelled down an unexpected path when Ryan spoke up to inform he was returning to America, and soon. Sinead awkwardly bit her bottom lip as she looked down to her hands which were clasped together on her lap. The way he spoke seemed somewhat abrupt, like it was a rushed or hasty decision to leave Dublin. "Why?" she asked, her voice quivering slightly. She took a deep breath and loosened her tense shoulders before turning her head to look up to his face. "It seems so sudden, Ryan. Are you sure... do you really have to go? Is something wrong with your mother?" she worriedly asked. "Conor is going to miss you, y'know." She cleared her throat and shrugged her shoulders. "And I'll miss you."

The reassurance of Conor's love for her was something she knew she would constantly need. She had a feeling Conor knew this too, and decided things would be okay. He made her being in a relationship non-regrettable and something she was glad she was able to try out. This whole love thing was not as bad as she thought it was. In fact, it was one of the best things she had ever gone through and outweighed all of the bad. Catching Conor's wink she playfully narrowed her eyes at him and shook her head. "Preferably with a scarf. I wouldn't want my mother to see the marks." She returned his wink before taking his hand and walking over to the bar.

She was holding her breath, waiting to see what kind of reaction he would give her to the key situation. She wasn't asking him to move in or anything yet, but she did want him to be able to have access whenever he pleased. Plus, he could make runs to her home if she ever needed him to. She grabbed two glasses and started fixing their drinks, listening to him thank her as a response to her thanking him. A smile grew wider on her lips when he kissed her and she kissed back. His over all love for her made her heart flutter as she handed him his own glass. "Well, we balance each other. I'm almost sure that's what people are supposed to do when they're in love with each other." She raised her glass to him in a small toast before smirking. "Let's just hope we can keep it up and not drive each other crazy, huh?" She took a sip of her drink before shaking her head at him. "Don't tell me I've made a mistake in giving you a key. I may not show it, but I'm a slight neat freak when it comes to my apartment, sir."

The fragrance had been pleasantly faint before, something that seemed to drift in and out of existence as they walked. But now that Sinead had sat down next to him, it persistently teased him. Ryan stared at the shrubbery in an attempt to ignore the fact that the woman who still held a special place in his heart sat next to him, pretty as painting, asking him why he had to leave. That she'd miss him. And yet, her presence still couldn't stifle what the letter had infected his mind with.

His tone was soft, as he made an attempt to reassure the redhead, "No, Princess. Ma is fine. She's gossiping and playing bridge as always, none the wiser," he found the idea of his mother not knowing what she forwarded to him a bit comical, but it didn't last long as Ryan garnered the courage to finally say it out loud for the first time.

"Sinead. I found out I have a son. His name is Owen, and he's eight years old, almost nine. He and his mother live in Los Angeles, down in California." Ryan stared blankly as his mind went through a second revelation, as if saying the words aloud made it concrete. So many emotions swirled through his head that he felt unsure of what he was actually feeling, although doubt was never one. Excited and scared at the prospect, and angry that he'd not known sooner. A small part of him couldn't help but feel like he betrayed the feelings he had for the woman next to him, even though he was trying to abstain from them. As silly as it was, he couldn't bring himself to look at her because of it.

"So, yeah. I gotta go, and I'm taking it as my cue to try and go legit as well. Get a job, probably working on cars. Because let's face it, Princess, being a gangster isn't exactly safe work," he tried to laugh at his obvious understatement, but it died as he looked at his hands. For first time, Ryan realized how weathered his hands looked, and remembered how they got that way. The unpleasant trip down memory lane was fortunately brief, so he was able to collect himself before continuing, "I'm sorry if it seems like I'm leaving suddenly, but it's not like I'm going to drop off the map. Besides, I'm sure your family will keep you preoccupied. I'm almost certain Conor will have his hands full for awhile, and he's got other drinking buddies."

Sinead couldn't help but smile as Ryan reassured her that his mother was still okay and doing well. "Oh, that's a relief," she softly told him. She was about to go on to say how she hadn't seen the lady in a long time, but Ryan had dropped something of an expected bombshell. "A son?!" she asked, for a moment speechless as the shock took over her. She looked away for a moment as she processed the news, not quite sure how to feel about it - not quite sure how Ryan felt. She let out a deep breath before turning to look back at her friend and sent him a reassuring smile. "You have to meet him, Ryan. I don't know what happened with you and his mother, nor why you only just found this out... But you have to see him. He'd be better off for it - you'd be a great dad."

Sinead looked into the man's eyes when he told her he was going to give up on the criminal life and get a normal job. How could she judge him or talk him out of that? "You're right. It isn't safe work," she agreed. She looked over her shoulder and her eyes sought out Peter in the distance. She then turned away again and looked down to the ground for a short time. "I'd be a hypocrite if I talked you out of quitting working for James. I've spent long enough trying to convince Peter to do the same..." she trailed off.

She turned her body so she was facing Ryan directly. "Whilst I'd prefer you stayed, I can't talk you out of leaving. You have Owen to think about and a safer life to pursue," she reasoned. "Please just.... please keep in touch..." she began. Her voice faltered and she struggled to say much more. Instead, she wrapped her arms around Ryan's shoulders and gave him a tight hug. "I will hunt you down if you forget about me!" she sternly warned him, mumbling into his ear.

All Ryan could do when he was attacked by Sinead was suck in air in ragged manner as he fought against the initial panic. He could feel his heartbeat double even as Ryan managed to relax his body in order to maintain his initial collected facade. Although it was a bit awkward as they sat, he patted Sinead's head to comfort her.

"Yes, we can write one another," Ryan chuckled a bit at the thought of Sinead trying to carry out her threat, "You say that as if it were possible, Princess."

Even though people would miss him when he left, Ryan couldn't help but feel like an odd puzzle piece in the life that James and the Sullivans had built in Dublin. He cared for them all greatly, but therein laid the problem. It was a life that no one really knew what was around the corner, there's always a chance that someone wasn't coming back, no matter how small the job. Ryan had closed himself off, and it helped him do what needed to be done. However, Sinny, along with everyone else, made it difficult to maintain that wall. For him, it was a path that Ryan was well-equipped to go down, but he needed to walk it alone. He was tired of being alone. It pained him in some ways, as he sat there in Sinead's grip until she got her fill. After which, Ryan eased himself off the bench, holding out his hand to Sinead.

"Alright, Princess. Let's get you back to the wedding before I steal you away," he chuckled at the ridiculousness of the idea, as tempting as it was, "Besides, I haven't heard you sing the whole time I've been on this island. So how about it? One for the road?" Ryan inquired as he gently led the redheaded vision back to reception.
