A Change of Heart

She started up like champ and revved to life. He checked the street before backing out though he was sure no one would be using this road at this time of day anyway. As he got onto the main road. "Okay? Where to?"

He nodded and took a left to get them in the direction of the nearest highway ramp. "What's playing right now?" He asked, stealing a glance at her. The roads were relatively dead, a fact for which he was grateful.

"Okay." So they'd just wing it. There had to be something playing. A few moments passed in silence, and Izzy grew uncomfortable. "So..." He began without knowing how to finish. He decided to just make it up as he went along. "How was your day?"

Mei chuckled. "Well, ok I guess. You know what happened, so I don't really need to tell you again." she said.

He nodded. "Yeah..." He merged onto the highway with a surge of adrenaline-it always seemed so risky!

"So what are your... I don't know, hobbies?" He asked, trying to break the ice.

"Fun," he said, glancing around for the exit. It couldn't be far. "You're a senior, right?"

A few minutes passed until they finally reached their ramp. "Do you prefer comedy or action?"

As the pulled into the theater parking lot, he glanced at the now showing posters plastering the outer walls. "I suppose there are a few possibilities."

He approached the ticket seller and paid for two tickets to theist interesting looking movie that was playing and ushered the girl past the concessions and to the theater, where they promptly took their seats near the front.

"Well, clearly you've never sat next to any true men," Izzy laughed. He jokingly beat his chest. "I am the manliest man!"

He laughed at his own joke, then paused to amend his statement. "Second manliest. I forgot about Channing Tatum."

Mei chuckled. "Yeah. And yet I could throw your friend." She said. "I still feel bad about that."

He smiled; it was good to know she had some sort of conscience. "These previews take forever!"
