Fandom A Chance Meeting at Ilex Forest

"Sure!" she says, jumping up,, acting as if nothing had happened. "Sorry for falling asleep." she continued, not meaning to interrupt everyone's day.

"You don't need to apologize," says Balaa. "I must say I am very impressed by your strength, daughter. I believe we may want to try again later today, but before we go there, let's eat."

"I think Danielle is going to be the most powerful and beautiful Ninetales in the world..." murmurs Simon.

She went over with a spring in her step happy that she did so well. At Simons comment she blushed. As powerful as mommy? She thought, even though the answer was obvious.

Balaa gently pushes some warmed berries in front of you and Simon. "Strengthen yourself, sweethearts. We have much to do."

"Can I be your sidekick?" asks Simon with awe in his tone. Balaa smiles at his simple approach.

"Definitely!" she said back, she always wanted Simon there. She dug in to some berries, the warmth made her stomach feel nice.

He munches along, and then Balaa takes her seat between you two.

"The mantle of guardian is not inherited. It must be earned -- if you can prove your mind stronger than mine, you will become the next forest guardian, Danielle. And so I would request that after dinner, we try the exercise again. I wish to confirm what I believe."

"Can I watch again?" asks Simon quietly.

Mommy wants to make me guardian? but im not ready... She thought thinking that she meant tonight. "Ok mommy" She said aloud before munching another berry.

A half-hour later dinner is finished.

"Now then," says Balaa, "We'll be practicing here. Do the same thing as last time, but...do not let fear of what may happen hold you back."

Simon watches with anticipation.

"Ok" she said, mentally preparing herself. Her eyes shut once more and the lids glowed slight blue. "You belong to me"

Balaa shudders for a moment, but doesn't quite give way. Her defenses are strong.

"I do...not...belong to you..."

She didn't hold back, she wanted to make mommy proud. "You are mine" Her eyes strained in focus.

This second onslaught throws Balaa off-balance. In your mind you can actually see her struggling to stay upright.

"No...ungh...I'm Ba--"

She can't quite finish -- it's taking her full strength to hold it together.

Her eyes crammed shut even more, and her eyes glowed brighter. "You are mine!" She said louder than she meant to, more out of trying hard than out of aggression.

It's enough. You hear an audible snap as the last of Balaa's willpower breaks. She straightens up and looks at her child directly in the eye, completely under her control.

"Wow..." Simon murmurs.

Balaa does not move, does not speak -- she's waiting for orders.

She opens her eyes, sweat can be seen all over her, and shes breathing rater hard, but she's still standing. "D..did it work?" though she was fairly certain it did.

The blank expression and stiff posture of the Ninetales answers the question.

"I think," whispers Simon, "I think she's waiting for you to make her do something."

"Walk over there." she said indicating the corner of the room.

Balaa silently does so without a pause or a nod.

"What else can you make her do?" he asks.

The feeling of power is...oddly gratifying.

"I... I don't know, I should probably let her go." she said looking down thoughtfully.

"Already?" he asks, sounding a bit disappointed. "I mean...you worked hard on it, didn't you?"

Balaa has not moved since going where she was told.

"Well…. yeah but, she jst wanted to know if I could, I should leaver her alone...." she said though her friends words were making her doubt

"Well, it's your decision, Danielle. I just...if I had the forest guardian under my control I dunno if I'd just...let her go. But like I said, your decision!"

On the other hand... having such a creature...one you admire...and being able to direct her every move... it's a strange but grand feeling.

The thoughts of power floated around for just a second, but if she controlled mommy then she couldn't give her cuddles, or sleep in her tails. She released her grasp.

Balaa comes to as if waking up from a dream. She shakes her head a few more times, then looks down at you with a combination of pride and awe.

"I have never been controlled by any beast, Pokemon, or human. You are only a child, and yet you reduced my proud mind to your control in only minutes. I can only imagine how strong you will be. Very well done, Danielle."

Her warm smile is covered by her wrapping the Vulpix back up in her tails.
