1x1 with Beowulf

"Look, I understand you've had hardships in Malkier. But we have to. I am not saying this just because. It is the truth. I know everyone has problems and I am not saying I'm better then anyone."She growled softly as she looked at him.

((Bis später, gute Nacht))

"Of course you aren't. You are simply the princess of Algoria." Connor said before getting up. "I think I have learned enough. Good day, m'lady." he said before leaving. Not better then anyone else. Ha! She as royalty, others were peasants. Simple as that. Royalty and nobility were simply higher class then the peasantry.

Aria growled softly."I'm not any better then you!"She called after him. Shr knew she was higher up then the peasants but she had been talking about her being better then Conner, which she really wasn't much better then him.

"What ever you say princess." he says over his shoulder as he walked out the door. Better army and generals, ha. She didn't know how well her countries economy was doing. Malkier was doing well, with it's trading in fish from it's numerous lakes and gems and metals from the surrounding hills. He needed to calm down, and practicing the forms would certainly calm him down. The Oneness with the world always did.

Ariana growled softly but she turned, going back to the library. She sighed softly as she searched the books, looking for information on the trade of her kingdom. She did need tp learn about the rest of her kingdom and what all went on.

A WHILE LATER!!

Connor was in some courtyard, gods only knew which one. His dad always liked to sit in courtyards, he never knew why. Especially when it was in the middle of ine of the fierce Malkier snow storms. He could appreciate the beauty of it all, but nit sit and look at it. He was practicing the forms for swordsmanship. His blade was out of it's scabbard, and he was slowly and smoothly moving from position to position. Hummingbird Kisses the Rose to Two Strokes of Lightning, Boar Rushes Down the Mountain to Lizard on Hot Sands. All these together, and it seemed like he was dancing. A very odd dance, considering the sword and all, but a dance none the less.

The Young Princess looked out the library window, watching him as she leaned against the sill. He was quite good with his sword. Better then a couple of her Generals. But then, they didn't practice as much as he did. She couldn't help but admit that he was quite good looking as he practiced. She would never admit it to him though, never. Ariana let out a sigh before leaving the library to go to the courtyard to try again with him.

He was in the middle of the Void, a place inside him with nothing in it. No anger, no envy, no joy or pleasure, nothing. Nothing was there, yet he felt a part if everything. The sword he was holding was nit a seperate thing, but a part of him. Then something came into his little world, something he did not know. He swiftly turned towards the something, Eagle Catching the Fish, and stopped the blade well short of actually hitting the princess. "Apologies." he said in a flat voice. He did not try to sound rude, tye Void effected everything he did when he was in it. But that emptiness was hard to maintane, for a lightning bolt of irritation pricked the bubble tgat was the Void, shattering it and letting emotion rush back in. Sheathing his sword, he says "You know, you should necer sneak up on a swords man who is practicing."

Ariana stepped back slightly."I did not mean to sneak up on you."She said slowly as she looked at him."You are quite good with the way of the sword. Better then a couple of my generals."She said softly as she looked at him. The Princess herself, was pretty good with a bow and arrow, but did not always have the time to practice with her studies.

"Speak up, I can barely hear you." Connor said, not even a little out of breath. It's not like he would need to use his skills with the sword. As the future king, it would be made sure that he was safely swaddled in the back surrounded by nothing but the best. "Your generals all must be very good then." he said, leaving out how generals were often at the back of the fighting, they were expected to lead not die.

"Well, yeah, I guess they are. I don't personally watch their training but I do get reports."She said softly as she looked at him."Aside from a couple who just sit on their butts all day."She said softly as she looked at him, fixing a few stray strands of her hair.

"Then they are planning." he told her. "Just because there is no war, does not mean that they stop planning. One of Malkier's generals is like some of your generals, and bat crazy to. I heard he once had his men cut down a whole oak grove because he thought they were looking at him funny. And then insisted that they get proper burial rights. I was surprised to hear that his men didn't mutiny. But that just shows you how good of a general he is."

"That's quite a tale. But I'm pretty sure they're just sitting around doing nothing. I hardly see them do anything, even planning."She said as she looked at him with a soft sigh. She really wasn't sure what to think of her two generals. It's not like she could tell them what to do anyway.

"Then they do not deserve to be generals." he quickly told her. Generals that did nothing but sit about were an embarrassment to any empire, so he believed. "They are little better then common soldiers, and should be paid like one." Soldiers did little else when they had nothing to do. If left to their own in times of peace, they get drunk, fight, and do nothing.

"Yes, well, my father seems happy with them so I can't do a thing about it until I rule."She said as she crossed her arms over her chest quietly. She agreed completely with him. They did not deserve to be generals but she once again, could do nothing about it yet.

"A little threat never hurts." he said. "Just a small 'Things will be different once I rule' will do it. But if your father is ok with them, they must be at least decent with what they do." He would have to have a look at them himself if he was to know if they were good or not. This marriage would put him in control of them eventually, and he didn't want lay abouts running the army.

"Except they know I can't do a thing about it yet. So a threat wouldn't hurt, but they wouldn't take it too serous."She said as she looked at him."We do have a few wonderful Generals and I wish they would learn from them."She said as she looked at him."I'm sure if we went to see them, at least one of them would be asleep."

"Well then, shall we go and see these generals you are talking about?" he said before offering her his arm. Should could guide him like that, and it would get the rumor started that they are hitting it off nicely. The second part would only be a rumor, however.

Ariana politely took his arm and nodded."If you wish."She said softly before beginning to walk to the General's Quarters, where at least one was napping.

Connr saw the sleeping general, and immediatly disliked him. Releasing Ariana's arm from his, he walked over to tge slumbering general, preparing to do something he was probably going to regret. "Get up, maggot!" he shouted, kicking the stool the general was sitting on out from underneath him. The general hit tge floor with a thud, then quickly scrambled to his feet, reacting on instinct before realizing who was in front of him.

((Can you do the general? I hate talking to myself in rps.))

((Of course. Same with me))

The General was jolted awaje and drew his sword quickly, pointing the tip at Connor's throat, before realizing who it was."I apologize Sir."He said quickly, sheathing his sword and shooting a brief, hardly noticeable, glare to Ariana.

"None taken. At least you remember how to handle a sword." The general must have been nobly born, and from a family that was in good graces with the current king. "Now tell me, why were you asleep?"

"Because I wanted to nap."He said plainly as he looked at them."The troops are training just fine without me and I wanted to nap."He said as he looked at him."Besides, I was tired from going to town last night."He said quickly to hopefully get away with this.

"Oh, and did you have a good time in the town." he asked, deceptively calm. A general, out in the town, no doubt drinking and doing who knew what else. Generals were supposed to set an example as much as lead their troops. Their enemy could have been marching on the city, and he wouldn't know about it until he got a sword through the chest.

"Yes Sir, I did actually have fun."He said as he looked up at him."Met a girl. A very nice girl."He said as he looked at him with a soft smile."Might be seeing her again tonight."He said smiling, thinking he was happy with them.
