    Allsehendes Königreich

The Königreich has one of the most prestigious industries on the continent, with imports and exports to almost every other state at any given time. Early factories and agricultural assets are to be found on almost any province the Königreich is in possession of. While some focus more on furs, and farming spices, factories in the Königreich have a huge affect on it's military organization and mood when trading to other sovereign nations. The major towns of the Königreich are mainly focused on imports of oil, and hubs for the smallfolk to deliver more rural goods. The religious head of state has somewhat of an effect on what foodstuffs are imported and made, banning several obsolete dishes, against the southern heretics. Railroads are also spread across most of the Königreich, making internal trade and growth slightly easier. The huge surplus of resources needed to build war machines is very present in the Königreich.

    Exports:

    • Furs
    • Silver
    • Tungsten
    • Spices
    • Machinery

    Imports:
    • Oil
    • Rubber
    • Chromium
    • Aluminum
    • Livestock (Horses, Cattle)
    Wunderwirtschaft

The Königreich is based around supply being so high, that demand may not ever need to touch the market in terms of prices. The Regency Council had many plans to tackle this, but alas, none had done what they were meant to do. In the past several years, the Königreich's economy has recovered from the once disastrous position it was in, and is now stabilized. Though much of the working class is still in somewhat of an impoverished position, the standing of the entire state's trade has increased. However, money is now becoming worth less and less, and the federal bank is profiting off of corruption from the lesser nobility of the land. Weapons are used as buffers to maximize trade between barons, and the denizens of major cities are almost all contributing to the economy of the land. Will the royal family stand by, while the economy is once again plummeting into high hell?

    Details:

    Tariffs: ~0.5%
    Average Federal Sales Tax: ~10%
    Inflation: ~4.5%/year
    Currency: Reichsmark
    GDP Growth: -3.4%-4.7%/year
    GDP per Capita: ~$75,000

Would it be alright if I claimed a pair of miniscule islands on the coast of the large northern peninsula? Don't want to be that guy, so checking with you all first.

Math Math

Great sheet! So, I was thinking about placement on the map. Would you oppose to being placed on the large landmass inbetween my and Warlord Tom Warlord Tom 's nations? To me it seems like a suitable location. We could also go with something above the large bay, closer to Winter_Wolf Winter_Wolf ?

former sounds great! actually had more progress on the cs than i expected to, so it may be done later tonight, or around tomorrow evening.

Hmm I was just thinking about population; I might increase Shanowinn's population if that's alright. The land size seems like it could take many more, and also most other nations seem to have like an exponentially larger population than Shanowinn at the moment lol.

Also for determining realistic military manpower, it might be easy to use Hearts of Iron IV's conscription law options as guidelines. Not that we need to literally use them, but just to get an idea of how large militaries might be depending on their circumstances (ideology, intentions, threats, losing a war).

Disarmed Nation: 1% of the population can be in the military
Volunteer Only: 1.5% of the population
Limited Conscription: 2.5% of the population
Extensive Conscription: 5% of the population
Service by Requirement: 10% of the population
All Adults Serve: 20% of the population
Scraping the Barrel: 25% of the population

(Keep in mind that in game, the last 3 options really cut into your economy, with the last one making construction and factory output 40% slower, and training time 50% more, so they're designed as last ditch things. The effects on the economy/industry seem realistic enough.)

Just for fun I calculated that if Shanowinn right now scraped the barrel, it could have a total military population of less than 1,250,000--but goodbye economy! Less than 75,000 total personnel with 1.5%.

Direct Democracy

His Excellency Grand Chancellor Josef Hauge

Josef Hauge has been described by friends, family and the press as "Kind" and "intellectual", as well as "the kind of intelligent thinker and humanitarian this world needs...", Hauge is married to Marie Hauge and has 4 children, 3 boys and 1 girl, all under the age of 15. The children have been described as kind and friendly like their father, however he has tried to hide them away from the public eye and they attend public schooling.

Capital: Luzion

Currency: Raoumarke

Political tenets:
No state religion, the government can't dictate what happens in any religion, and vice versa.
The death penalty is only for the most serious of crimes, such as mass murder.
The right to bear arms shall not be restricted in any way, shape, or form.
Religion, race, gender, or sexual orientation may not constitute as a reason for denying or terminating employment in any government agency.
Line of succession is Grand Chancellor, Vice Chancellor, Madame Chancellor, Chief Foreign Affairs Officer, and General of the Army. The Grand and Vice Chancellor are elected by the people and serve 5 year terms, whilst the CFAO and General of The Army are chosen by the Grand Chancellor.

Civil services:
There are several state funded hospitals in the nation, mostly located in major cities in the nation. In addition, there are police outposts in most backwater towns. Citizens may band to form neighborhood watches if they like, however approval must be earned from an outpost captain. There is a form of welfare, however the welfare is a bit meager as it was introduced recently, and benefits decrease the longer a recipient is unemployed.

Diplomacy: (Allies and Enemies)
A recently opened Kastocolonian mission in Shanowinn acts as an embassy for Strassberg-Shanowinn relations, however the chancellor has expressed desire to build a physical Strassbergian embassy within the country.

Geography and Culture

Map
(I prefer to be placed on some big-ish islands or something of the sort, if not a small to medium chunk of coastline is neat too.)

Population:
1,200,000, most of the population resides in the major cities, whereas the rest are scattered in small towns across the country.

Language:
German. Referred to as Brau.

Natural resources:
Wood
Coal
Sand
Fish and other seafood
Iron
Wheat

Major Cities:
(80,000) Mittelberg: Mittelberg is on the border of the Frontier (the big woods behind the country). Mittelberg serves as a mining and logging town for the country, and is quite sleepy as of late. The town is most notable as the birthplace of the People's Resistance and Liberation organization that liberated the country from the Hoschat Tyranny.

(100,000) Bellou: Bellou is one of the biggest towns in the country, located on the seafront. The town is most known for its olives, sand exports, and seafood, as well as the home of the shipyard for the Navy, in addition to the Bellou National Museum of Art.

(100,000)Anzio: Another coastal town of the country, Anzio isn't as big as Bellou, but it surely makes up for it in its splendor and beauty. Anzio is famous for its Opera house, which the Grand Chancellor makes sure to attend at least once a month, and its beaches, which the Chancellor also visits at least once a month on vacation. The city also hosts Strassberg University, the state university for the most prestigious minds of the country. Although Anzio isn't economically important, it was the site of the old capital and helped culturally enrich the nation as a whole.

(10,000) Wasu: The heartland of machining and coal for the country, Wasu is most known as the birthplace and manufacturer of the Gasden rifles used by the country's military, as well as a shipyard for boats and other machines. The city also produces coal and generally is quite sleepy and would like to keep it that way.

(95,000) Luzion: The capital of the nation, Luzion is known for the tallest building in the nation: Strassberg Hall (where the legislature meets). Speaking of legislature, senators are elected by the people to represent every town, major and minor, and serve two year terms. They can revise the Constitution (which requires 3/4's of the legislature to agree with any proposed measure), however any revisions can be overturned with a petition with at least over half of the country agreeing against it, and the revision shall not be discussed in future meetings. The legislature meets every 5 days a week to discuss diplomacy, the economic status of the country, or potential expansion. In addition, with a petition from a home city with 80% of the population signing on to it, the senator must discuss it in front of his colleagues, and as such they may vote on a petition. There are 100 senators. Strassberg Hall's first floor contains the waiting room for meeting with a senator, the second and third floors serve as offices for said senators, and the fourth one contains the Meeting room, covered in ornate stained glass and seating.
There are 15,000 residents that are scattered across the countryside in either small towns or small villages, and individual homes.

Landmarks:
-The Clean Sword: The tavern in which the PRL was first organized and its leaders chosen, the Clean Sword is a national landmark and protected by the government. It is a family owned tavern that has owned it for generations, and is known for its Lager and Brandy, as well as food and room and board.
-Bellou Shipyard: The shipyard was originally a decrepit warehouse before being massively renovated and produces both commercial and navy ships. Visitors may tour the site and a small restaurant provides fresh seafood, Bellou Olives and wine.
-Bellou National Museum of Art: If the country's highest forms of artwork aren't publically displayed or not shown in the Anzio National Opera House, then it's here. A recent addition to the country's list of landmarks, the National Museum of Art houses statues and paintings, as well as propaganda posters, seized by the new government after the Hoschatian Tyranny. In addition, the most famous artists of the country, living or dead, have their artwork displayed here to the public. Admission is a small fee, depending on the amount of patrons in one party, however the artwork is on another level of awe and splendor that the country shows on an almost normal level.
-Anzio Beach: Anzio Beach has long been considered one of the most beautiful beaches in the entire country. White sand blankets the beach, and the water is as clear as glass, with a coral reef not to far from the shore for adventurers. Anzio beach is open to the public 24/7 and lifeguards and patrol boats constantly are on the lookout for a drowning patron. A small beach house is nearby where swimmers can change into swimwear and use the restroom, as well as shower. A nationally protected landmark.
-The Anzio National Opera House: Also a nationally protected landmark, the Anzio National Opera House is well known for its stained glass, large seating, and spectacular setpieces. Public shows require a small fee for entrance, but receive very good ratings and any playwright or composer is allowed to organize a performance. Nationally Protected and guarded by a small division of the Army, the Opera House Guards. Their uniforms are black and yellow and are ceremonial in design.
-Strassberg Hall: Obviously, Strassberg Hall is one of the most important landmarks in the nation, as it serves as the nation's home to its legislature. Guided tours are available for a small fee, and the architecture of the hall provides a view into the nation's bloody history: the Tyranny of the Hoschat regime, the rise of the PRL, and the nation as it is today, with the country's most renown architects designing the colossal figures seen on the sides of the building that depict the history of the nation.

Architecture:
The architecture of the Federal Republic of Strassberg as Baroque. Many buildings place an emphasis fluid, moving scenes of contrast between the current one and the next, as well as exquisite detail and surprise to achieve a sense of awe and power in oneself. Figures of the country's history as well as in the folklore of the nation are present on many of the country's buildings and public places. Statues are of realistic proportion and of high quality and detail, yet are displayed with elegance and class. The architectural style of the Republic is something else yet to be seen in most other parts of the world.

Culture: The culture of the country revolves around self-improvement and a heavy emphasis on learning. Children are taught from an early age to care for those sick and hurt, and to help themselves and not to rely on others when they can do it themselves. Most of the country is generally very friendly and will help strangers with anything they need, and more than willing to talk to those they do not know. The mornings are filled with song and cheer from the rooftop maidens who do laundry, and reek of strong cigars and tea. Afternoons are spent doing whatever one needs to do and large lunch groups in bars or cafes alive with chatter are common. As the sun sets, parties and other social gatherings are common, if one needs to do extra work or watch children they may do so. When night falls, everyone falls asleep and the process is repeated.

Religion

State religion:
N O N E

Religious groups:
Since the Republic is near the coast, religious groups come and go, but one real religion that at least 75% of the country identify as is Kastocolism. It is monotheistic with one God, and it proclaims that God is an artist who made the world and the laws and patterns that inhabit it. God rarely interacts with the daily lives of people unless they call to him for strength or for healing. Prayers for earthly want are ignored and only those who seek to get closer to Him will be answered. Before all of creation, God has spoken to those with him in his domain as to what they would like out of life, or what they deem necessary for the balance of good and evil in the world. Once both an unborn person agrees with their place, their memory is wiped and they are born into the world. There is no central authority however missions and churches are spread about the nation that serve as places of worship, prayer, discussion, healing, and recovery. These are headed by Friars appointed by the community and they are allowed to marry.

Economics

Economy:
Typical Capitalist economy, the stock market exists, and companies provide goods and services that the government can't provide, like clothes or bricks. You get the message.

Infrastructure:
There are many strong bridges in the FRS, capable of holding thousands of pounds of people and equipment left over from the old government. The idea of a country-wide railroad is appealing to the Chancellor, however the manpower to undertake a project is what is holding such an idea back. Ships are used extensively to transport cargo into the main capital and other coastal parts of the country, and cart wagons driven by horses and mules are common as well.

Military

Army: (ignore the helmet and feathers)
Consisting of 800,000 on and off duty units, the Army of the Republic is considered one of the most battle hardened in the world, considering the history of the nation. The army employs the concept of the "Universal Infantryman". This idea is that the Infantryman should be taught to excel in as many areas as possible: from marksmanship to cooking. This lessens the strain of having specialized units and allows more men to be recruited. The Army fields the Gasden Rifle: A bullpup, bolt action state of the art infantry rifle that chambers in .308 Berthier. The other concept the Army fields is the Universal Infantry Rifle and the embrace of bullets over muskets and swords. The Gasden Rifle can be cut down into a carbine if need be, and a sniper scope can be attached to it enhance accuracy, as well as a multi purpose bayonet can be attached to the weapon. Soldiers are allowed to decorate their weapon and customize it to suit their needs. There are reconnaissance balloon units as well.

Navy: (ignore the helmet)
100,000 men and women consist of the Republic's navy. This navy is not as well organized as the Army as the navy is a rather new part of the military. Mostly, the navy is made up of logistics and transport ships that are not armed, which help move equipment and men from place to place. There is one massive ship, that of a new type of class of ship, that being the Dreadnought. The Dreadnought is supposed to be the combination of a battleship and an aircraft carrier: It can carry the entire army if need be and as many landing and torpedo boats as possible and acts as a portable artillery set, capable of coastal bombardment. It is a relic from the Hoschat era, a secret project that was halfway complete.

Other Units:
The Shocktruppen
, or shock troops are one of the most feared battalions of the army. The Shocktruppen quickly storm enemy positions, wreck as much havoc as they can with their diesel bombs and Gasden rifles converted to semi automatic clip fed shotguns. They soon retreat and report positions to the advancing infantry. Wear masks and armor, as well as beige fatigues.
The Grey Ghosts are the Special Operations division of the Army. The Grey Ghosts are the longest existing unit of the Army, as its current assets and many members used to a part of the secret police during the Hoschatian Tyranny. The day before an assault, they will sneak behind enemy lines and relay strategic positions to infantry and disrupt enemy logistics before making it back home. The Grey Ghosts are known for their grey uniforms that are quickly dispatched for enemy uniforms.
The Blue Hats serve as the coast guard, as well as responsible for the evacuation and treatment of soldiers if need be. The Blue Hats are excellent medics and drivers for the military, and as such a valuable asset.

There are several minor divisions in the army, however they are of minor note and usually are tasked with security of people or places.

Technology:
Typical of the era, wagons and walking are typically used to get from place to place. Artillery is used to great effect and as such artillery pieces are small and portable. Landing Boats may be used for invasion from sea.

Interventions:

History
The history of the Federal Republic of Strassberg is quite a long one. For the longest time, the country was known as the land of the brutal fascist dictatorship of Supreme Director Robert Hoschat. His regime controlled all facets of life and killed those that did not fit his vision. Religion and worship was prohibited and those caught worshipping or having religious iconography in their homes were dragged away by the secret police never to be seen again. Beggars and the sick were executed on public display. Art and the sciences were appropriated to fit the vision of the Director. However, after a century and even more (Most simply had forgotten how long the Hoschat regime was in power) of oppression by Hoschat and his ilk, the people began an insurgency. Led by idealist and brilliant strategist Josef Hauge, the People's Resistance and Liberation resistance movement came to be. Employing the Universal Infantryman and Universal Infantry Rifle concepts, the war ended in a year and a half, and Hoschat was executed on public display, and his body cast into the sea. Josef Hauge was crowned leader of the country, and set to work rebuilding the country. The arts and sciences were allowed to flourish without government dictation, religion was allowed to be worshipped without fear of intervention from the government, and many personal freedoms were restored. Hauge has transformed a nation known for its tyranny into a nation of freedom and true human expression. Today, the Federal Republic of Strassberg prides itself on its geography, its total and complete freedom for the people, and its culture that have changed dramatically in the 10 years Hauge has been in power.

Conclusion: The Federal Republic of Strassberg in this world is the equivalent combination of Austria, Greece, as well as some Slavic influence. The country's bloody history, combined with its renown and exquisite culture, and the advanced military tactics employed by its military, among other things described in this sheet, make Strassberg a formidable foe, and a strong ally and friend if need be.

That went fast! Cool sheet so far! Looking at your religion it seems one i'd like to have a relevant minority of my population adapt it, perhaps solidifying some sort of diplomatic connection between us?

Just redid my flag! Any opinions?

EDIT: the coat of arms had a very drab grey rider, horse, and dragon in the original, and the central triskel swirl was black not red.

I think some sorts of relationships are in order between Shanowinn and Strassberg. Economically, Strassberg sounds like a good outlet for Owinn alcohol and tobacco (Shanowinn's a great influence on the world, eh?) imports. We'll take some recordings of the maiden songs and call it a deal if possible...anyways perhaps a Kastocolist mission could exist in Shanowinn as well. There wouldn't be a huge following but traditional Owinn spiritual beliefs have some similar concepts, like there are elders which are similar to Frers apparently, and there isn't really (supposed to be) a central authority.

Unrelated edit: I added more about Owinn beliefs in my nation profile since before I had nothing on it.

your guys' sheets are looking pretty good! actually, it might be wise if we all bumped our populations a bit, because if we went along with HOI4 conscription laws as a baseline, our armies would still be minuscule compared to the armies of world powers during ww1.

Oh, sure! I was thinkning there could be a mission or maybe two in your country, and we could have an embassy there.

Yeah! I'd totally like a relationship with your country, economically or religouswise!

Sounds reasnoable enough, about how much should be an ample increase?
