I have to say, Â I don't have too much of a problem with min maxing as long as the player roleplays well, and given the power level of Exalted, I often find that there is always scope for putting dots in areas outside of your specialisation. Â I will often warn players ahead of time if I'm going...
That seems like a good rule of thumb I might try using that and see what happens next session. Â I was thinking about not allowing extra's to spend willpower but that doesn't work either as then they could just be ordered around too easily.
Cheers
I'm not so much concerned about the dice or even to what extent Exalted mirrors reality but rather that the players of social characters don't feel shortchanged when their detailed and well thought out argument doesn't work despite all the effort they put in just because to resist social attacks...
I might have been giving my PC's targets more willpower than they deserve to be fair, but as I pointed out earlier, it's more about the fact that a splashy roll deserves a splashy success which I don't feel the social combat situation is portraying. Â
I certainly do not feel that they should...
I was just refering to the fact that let's say that for example I hit a heroic mortal and beat his DV by 10 successes, now what happens to that mortal? Â I'm guessing, normally he'd be dead or at least severely wounded. Â It feels like the player got lucky and that achieved something, but in...
And yet even with unnatural persuasiveness all it takes is willpower  to resist and often not that much more than for natural persuasiveness. Â
But here all the excellencies do is add success or dice, and yet they are no more difficult to resist than a standard roll. Â So even with magic, it...
The bugbear might be an abbysal with an odd apperance who also likes to use wierd little zombies.
But the bugbear sounds kind of like a Fae to me, which follows on nicely from the last villain who was possibly selling to the Fae bugbear. especially with the goblin henchmen
I think that the most interesting reaction might come from the DLs as they see all their scheme's coming to naught if this Solar regains power. Â They might just have the strength to resist him, espcially if they can persuade the Realm, "better the devil you know than the anathema you fear"...
And yet resisting an argument should be more difficult the more successes are rolled. Â I can understand why they did it mechanically because obviously it would be too strong otherwise, but it still feels harsh to say to the player who just made and inspriring attempt to convert somebody and...
Last time I created a calender, I randomly decided to have 5 days a week, following the fine tradition of 5 being an important number and I used very similar days  of the week to yours.  Given that I've lost my calender in the great harddrive crash of 2005, I might just use yours, good stuff
I'm just starting my first 2nd Edition Exalted game and for once my players seem to want to all play quite social characters. Â While I like the social combat rules between major NPC's, they take too long for mooks. Â It feels like it takes away something of the flavor of converting huge numbers...
These two points are pretty much irrelevant to the discussion at hand. Â It really doesn't matter what the specifics of what he gave you are. Â The point is that you feel cheated because you feel that the other character should not have been able to take them. Â The question is 'Did Kei'ron...
Quite possibly the empress is using this set up so as to trick the solar into revealing himself and coming into an area where she can capture rather than just kill him. Â The realm defences are powered by sacrifice after all so maybe now the defences require the sacrifice of a solar, possibly...
I'll be perfectly honest I hadn't bothered to look into the maintaince issue but I'm going to do so now. Â I knew it had maintaince but I forgot how stringent those requirements were. Â I'll have a look at the book when I get home but I suspect my player went well over those limits.
I know...
I've recently started running a game wherein one of the PC's starts with a very slightly modified version of the Air Dragon armor and within two sessions it's already created such an imbalance that I've had to tell him to get rid of it, which he's more than happy to do. Â The question is, what...
I regularly use the Wyld Hunt to encourage players to play smart solars. Â AT times the Wyld Hunt has been a major presence in the region and the players know that if they use their powers in public then it's likely that the Wyld hunt will follow. Â In my first game I also used it as a way to...
Region
I tend to default to the East just because its one of the areas that I feel most comfortable with in terms of geography. Â I have run and enjoyed games set in both the North and the West and played in games set in the South and the Blessed Isle but I think that for sheer variety and...
Practicality Issues
I have to say that I do think that elephant cavalry would be cool, but only in the right locations. Â I believe that elephants are supposed to be very finicky animals that require a lot of specialised care and feeding. Â They are also very expensive to maintain and panic...
