My Interest Check
Hey all. Has anyone here ever had a sudden downturn in your RP communities or endeavors, perhaps key members ghosting, or some undesired drama, something along those lines that put you on the backfoot…

But then you were able to rebound somehow and kick things off again? I did. Remaining community members and new allies arrived to help revive a storytelling project that was otherwise set to be abandoned in my case.

What about yall? What are your rebound stories?

I'm living this right now.

I was at my last RP site for eight years and had a blast for probably six of them, but over the last two years, the site started to steadily die and this prevailing apathy began to spread over every game. No one started anything with the intention of success and if you pointed out the general malaise, the staff would tell you nothing was wrong. I hung on for as long as I could stand it and tried to rally what I thought would be solid people, but just got the same result. At that point, after almost a decade and over 1k posts, I decided it was finally time to go.

It was tough leaving, but I was completely put off by the last experience. I didn’t write anything for months and had no desire. I genuinely put a lot of time, heart and thought into my writing and games and to be met (again) with indifference and ghosting, it was just too much.

Hopefully it goes better here.

I don’t think everyone recognizes how damaging silence and indifference can be. In biblical terms, the direct opposite of love is indifference.

I get it, it’s hard. There are many out there who lack the faith, time, and energy these days. But it’s okay to hold on to hope for something better. There’s always a light at the end of the tunnel. Even when it feels like you’re walking through a desolate waste, there’s a diamond in the rough, somewhere out there.

Just gotta keep looking. Hang in there, my friend.

We switched genres. Lost one player, but the story is really taking off and overall people are more engaged and having more fun I think. Some people made AUs of their characters from the first setting and others made new characters, some did both.
