Sword Art Online. It's complete garbage, between the main character being the go-to example of a Mary Sue, the villains all being either one-note or sex predators (sometimes both), and the weird not-quite-a-harem, but I just kept watching, for some reason. Like, I can't tell if I'm hate-watching or watching unironically half the time. But I never felt inclined to quit.

At least until the current season. It's three episodes in by now and they're still handing out exposition. I might actually find the willpower to stop watching if no one dies next week.

SAO did, in fact, finally become bad enough for me to stop watching it.

Although now that I'm Marie Kondo-ing the shows that I watch, RWBY is also pretty close to getting chopped. It's just... a completely different show than it was when I started. I think I'm clinging to false hopes that it'll get its shit together.

The lore dump that covered all of that also revealed that the broken moon, one of the most iconic setting elements of the show, was a total red herring, and told us jack shit about the origins of two even bigger elements, Faunus and Dust.

It's one of the few books I will literally be tempted to read multiple times (I have).
And it makes me feel weird that I do considering the subject matter and the main character might seem a bit edgy most of the time....
Also, I wish I could remember the name of the narrator of the audiobook version because it was great and that's saying something considering I frigging hate audiobooks most of the time.

American Horror Story. The actual writing is usually nonsensical and terrible, but the actors and overall atmosphere is fantastic. I think my favorite season is a tie between Coven and Freak show -- Coven because of how it handled the way witches use their powers and set up their societies, and Freak Show because of the time period and the fact they humanize individuals with rare genetic disorders.

I mean... I guess Mirmo? The thing is, I don't really consider my pleasures guilty if I'm the one enjoying them, because usually, I have a fitting reason for it?
In Mirmo's case, or Selfish Fairy Mirmo, for the full title, it's a Shoujou about a girl who wishes this dude in her class was her lover, so she gets a wishing mug to make that happen. Turns out that if she pours hot chocolate into the said mug, a "Muglox" will show up and turn her wish into reality.
Which, to her complete and very realistic surprise, actually happens.
So, yeah, it doesn't sound like something a boy would watch, but...

A: It has absurd-based comedy in many of the episodes, which is just funny if you like that.
B: Mirmo is selfish to a hilarious degree, but learns to care about those he cares about overtime, which... Is... Cute.
C: The main character, through this selfish wish and its various consequences, also learns not to resort to magic to get her wishes to happen. There's this one episode where she learns that her crush wants to be a writer; So she spends the whole day making a magic pen that'll make him good writing. Then he completely loses it (a surprise, as he's usually calm) and refuses the gift, stating that he wants to achieve his dream by his own ability. Which... is just cool? Stuff like that is why I don't really consider it a guilty pleasure, but eh, society would consider that it is, so, there you have it!

Oh, and D: They have a Team Rocket, called the Warumo Gang. They use instruments to perform magic. And their theme... Is... Freaking... AWESOME.

I have a couple of these lol. For television it was Pretty Little Liars and Gilmore Girls. It started off as a joke but I ended up watching every week. Both of these shows were over the top in drama and after a while it got cheesy but I loved them. lol.

Also there was this Korean drama called Rooftop Room Cat or Attic Cat. I watched it religiously and when my mom would come into the room I'd change the channel quickly leading her to question what I was watching.

But if I had to name some that others would think are guilty pleasures, hoo boy, here we go:
Shadow Hunters, Legacies, The Originals, The Order and to some extent, Netflix's Sabrina.

Basically supernatural/fantastical tween nonsense is one of my favorite things ever. I put a hard stop on Vampire Diaries just because the writing/acting bothered me so much, but I can and will watch any terrible twee campy fantasy thing that graces my television. It's comfort food, having grown up with Buffy (which is a very smart show, but also sort of made the blueprint for all the other ones).

I Won't Become a Villainess! I'm Just a "Normal" Duke's Daughter.
It's not incredibly written, not much makes sense, and there's an... unsavory theme to it if you pay too much attention (most of the story takes place when the mc is physically 3, 7, and 14).
But it's super cute and fluffy for a light read with an amazing world and magic system!

Outer Banks. I am not really so much a fan of the teenager stuff but this show really surprised me. I ended up binging it in 2-3 days then watched it again with my husband(he likes it too). Hopefully there will be a second season.

I love it and I am very interested about things like what happened, what kind of species there were and so on, but I do not mention this to any of my friends. Like ever.
Only my hubby knows about this really, since he doesn't judge me by it heh and he likes stuff like that too.

Once asked one of my irl friends about this stuff and they thought I was nuts because I believed that dinosaurs, like raptors, sauruses etc. once existed. I was so confused and never mentioned about it with any of them again.
