Your Guardian

"I'm sorry, I left you blind on all this." She kissed his forehead, in hopes of letting him see the monster that was attacking. "I promise I'll explain everything after this.."

The kiss left him more confused but he turned around to see a dark figure hovering over him.

"S-Saber..?" Declan glanced back at her real quick.

"You see it! That's good! Well.. Not good, but you don't think I'm crazy." She smiled, before summoning a sword into her hand. "Now please stay back, I don't want you to get hurt." She blocked the monster's claw that was about to come down on him again.

His eyes widened at the sword and wondered if anyone else could see this right now, or if they looked like a bunch of crazy people running around.

Declan ran behind Saber and watched in awe. This was the most interesting thing that's ever happened in his life, although he felt bad he couldn't help and that it was his fault she had to fight this thing.

A scowl crossed his face as he looked to the ground.

Saber glanced back at Declan noticing the scowl that had taken over his face. She sighed, turned her attention back to the monster, jumping back a bit before charging at it, plunging her sword into and pulling it upward. Saber watched the thing slowly start to disappear. "Are you alright?" She asked, turning towards him.

He quickly looked up after Sabers words and noticed it was gone.

"Yeah, I'm fine." Declan nodded then walked up to her.

"What's going on...?" Genuinely confused, he thought maybe it was a dream.

She rubbed her arm, obviously getting nervous. "I didn't think I'd have to explain so early on. It's only the first day." She looked down to her feet, glancing over to her sword. "I'm your guardian angel. That thing... I'm not exactly sure what it wanted from you, but there will be more."

"Oh" was all he could say, looking down again. Someone to watch over him? This all seemed so surreal in a matter of seconds.

"I'm going home.." He clutched his bags strap and walked passed Saber without saying anything else. Declan felt tired and the monotone look returned to his face.

She reached out her hand to stop him, but she dropped it back to her side. "Did I do something wrong?" She asked him, slowly trailing behind him.

Declan stopped again and looked back.

"No, I'm just really tired and some things are bugging me." He didn't dare say how much he was overthinking things right now. The fact that he had a problem with it and how stupid the thoughts were. It was getting colder in the evenings now, Declan watched his breath swirl into the air then at the sky.

"I guess you have to follow me, being my guardian angel and all, huh?"

"Do you need someone to tell? I wouldn't mind listening." Had she made mistake for getting too close in the beginning? Should she had just appear to just take of the demons that had decided they wanted to get too close to Declan. Had she messed up? She had a small smile on her, barely visible, but there. She pulled her jacket closer to her.

"Well yea.. But! I can just be a few feet away from you or more if you want space! Or..." She was trying her best to do what was comfortable for him without her being there. "If you need me just call for me, I'll be there in a jiffy!" She shrugged, looking down to her feet.

(Heads up, I may not be on for the next couple days. One being I have training, studying for a interview, and a family party to go to and the next day I have the said job interview. x_x)

((Alright! Good luck with everything! ♥️))

Sighing, he looked back at Saber. He could tell she was trying her best and really didn't do anything wrong. This is why he hated himself, he didn't know how to keep a friendship going.

"Hey...listen.." Declan scratched the back of his head then the point of his nose.

"My uncle hasn't been home in a while, I don't think he'll be coming back for a long time either..." Sometimes his uncle would do that so he was used to being on his own.

"You're..umm welcome to come stay I guess..."

((Thanks! Please enjoy your teenager years/Highschool years, adult life isn't fun. v_v; Maybe college life will be fun? I don't know..))

Saber's eyes widen at the offer. "Oh.. Uhm.. You really don't have to. I feel like that'd be asking for too much." She had her gaze fixated on the ground. She didn't want to suddenly intrude in his living space and she didn't want to suffocate him with her constant guarding. "I don't want to be a bother." She bowed her head slightly.

((Oh I will ! I've got some time left to be free and I'll enjoy it as best I can > :) ))

"My place is gross anyways, I doubt you'd wanna stay.." He cringed at the thought of what he was about to do.

"You know, it's okay. I just have some...." Declan paused for a moment.

"..Some issues I guess I'd say...my own problems I cant help sometimes..."

With that he walked up and grabbed Sabers hand and began walking towards the way of his house. It was a daring move on his part but he somehow he didn't regret it.

((Wise words from a high school graduate x_x;))

"If you insist.." Her smiled became wider from before. She had to admit she was already having a blast with her time here, more than the other times she was down here, but she cherished every moment she had experienced from before. "If you don't mind me asking, but where is your uncle?"

After she decided to come with him, Declan let go of her hand blushing a bit and looking away.

"Oh, I don't really know..." Pausing for a moment, he thought.

"Sometimes he just leaves without warning and stays at other people's house. One time he claimed to be stuck at this hotel with no escape or something..." He scoffed, his uncle was someone he didn't really like all that much. It didn't matter, without him there he could sleep and do nothing all he wanted.

Thinking about his house, he cringed. It was a mess, clothes and stuff all over the place. Especially his room.

"Doesn't it..." She paused for moment, hoping she wasn't asking too much. "You know.. Get lonely?" She slightly cringed at the excuse of being 'stuck in a hotel with no escape'. Though it definitely made her think about how he got out of the hotel to tell the story. "He doesn't sound very nice."

"I could really care less if I'm alone most of the time, it's always been that way." He turned and smiled softly at Saber, definitely not real smile either.

"My uncle has good intentions, but we don't talk probably because he told me once that I look like my mom and he can't stand seeing his dead sisters face..." Declan started laughing really hard then slowly stopped only to frown.

He realized that Saber didn't know about his family much, unless she was told before being sent. Figuring she might ask soon or question things.

"Death is a hard thing to get over..." She trailed off, shaking a thought away. "I've been asking a lot of questions, I'm perfectly okay with you wanting to ask any." She shrugged, rubbing her arm.

"Oh no it's alright, I guess I'd rather not know much about people, you just end up hurt that way sometimes.."

He was starting to show his real self, the hurt, and miserable one. They were nearing his house, he pulled out a small ring of three keys with a small blue bear charm on it and held it looped on his finger.

She probably won't even want to be around me soon, guardian angel or not. Thinking to himself he sighed quietly.

Saber tilted her head in confusion. "Hurt? What do you mean?" A look of concern washed over her face, she hated seeing people this way and the urge to ask him about such problems so she can fix it was rather overwhelming. She decided against it, pushing him to tell such things to her wasn't right, she just needed to give it time.

She threw her arm around his shoulder, giving it a squeeze. "Well I guess you won't be alone anymore. You're stuck with me!" She tried lighten up the mood.

He laughed nervously and looked away for a moment.

"And I kind of feel bad that you are." Declan smiled and played with the key ring on his fingers. It couldn't be that bad, having her around and all. In between thoughts he wondered if she actually cared, it was just him being negative as usual.

"What?! I enjoy your company!" She nudged him a little. "We'll have a blast, trust me." She gave him a thumbs up, a smile stretching over her face. She really hope she wasn't causing too much trouble for him.

He nodded and blushed a bit, truly hoping everything would be okay, especially with a pathetic guy like him. Soon after they approached the small apartment building with an old brick exterior, only three floors high on the corner of busy road. A half run down convenience store around the corner and a few other buildings like it. Billboards scattered the area around with all sorts of ads.

"Well...here we are.." Declan's voice held reluctance as he opened the main door for Saber, walking in after her. They made their way up two staircases and came to a white door with old rusty numbers, 201 bolted under the peep hole. He fumbled with the old lock and jammed his keys in it, only to open it with force, flying back and hitting the door stop on the wall.

"Oops.." Inside was a messy apartment with clothes, papers and random things all over the place. It was pretty clean, more cluttered if anything. With junk.

"Damn...I gotta clean this place, I'm really sorry."

Saber took a look around the place, taking a step further in. It was messy, but it was something she really didn't mind. She was just thankful that he had offered her a place to stay, which was definitely better than staying outside wandering the place. "Sorry about what?" She gave him a soft smile. "I can always clean up, you are giving me a place to stay, it's the least I can do."
