Realistic or Modern You’ll Live to Regret It

Carmen smiled watching him some. “That sounds pretty good actually.” She murmured, leaning back and closing her eyes “I still got a couple bits to do.” She mumbled playing with his hand until they got there

Colby nods a little and parks at the lot, getting out and heading over to the trees with her. “What kind you want this year?” He asks and looks around.

“Well we only need something to make it feel a little more Christmas-y.” She smiled “no trying to pick up 10-foot ones.” She pointed at him and giggled, “they fit in the house just not on the car.” She reminded him, taking his hand while they walked around. It took them a good half an hour of wandering but finally they found the perfect one and she headed inside to pay while he got it ready to go on the car, watching him out the window sighing a little, having the break for them was going to help them she still thought and she was determined to make sure that if he screwed up again she stuck to her word and said enough.

Colby takes the tree and gets it tied down and on top of the car. He runs a hand through his hair and leans agaisnt the car as he waits for her to come back. When he sees her walking out he beckons her over and pulls her into his arms, kissing her forehead. “Where do you wanna get lunch?”

She shrugged a bit, slipping her arms around him. “I dunno.... ooh there’s a Qdoba that’s just opened up near home.” She pointed out and smiled, swaying with him a little, “we can always take the tree home first.” She said softly, getting into the car.

Colby nods a little and watches her. He gets in the car and heads back to the house. “Want me to just go pick up the food and we can eat and decorate?” He asks and rubs her thigh softly.

She looked out the window thoughtfully then nodded. “Actually that sounds better, while you’re picking up lunch I got a quick errand to run and then I’ll get back, probably before you anyway.” She smiled taking his hand in hers til they got home and she kissed his cheek, grabbing her keys and changing over to her car.

Colby nods and watches her leave. He brings the tree inside and gets it set up in the living room. He gets it all unbundled and heads out to get the food afterwards.

The house was still empty when he got back and even after he’d been home an hour longer there was no sign of her, her phone going straight through to voicemail a couple times.

Colby frowns a paces a little, starting to get worried about her. She shouldn’t be taking this long and she never had her phone off. He wanted to go look for her but he had no clue where she had gone. He sighs and tries her phone one more time.

It went straight through to voicemail again but this time once he’d hung up his phone received a call from a strange number with someone on the other end “hello? Mr. Colby Lopez? This is Jackie calling from County General, your wife is Carmen Lopez yes?” She asked him, “there’s been a car accident and she was brought in about half an hour ago, sir I think it would be best that you come down here.” She told him frowning.

Colby frowns at the number and quickly answers. When he gets the news he almost drops the phone. “I’ll be there soon.” He tells the girl and hangs up, rushing out of the house and into his car, heading straight for the hospital.

it was just starting to be covered by news and traffic stations and on the tv in the waiting room he would be able to see where the semi had pulled out and pushed carmens car all the way across the road, flipping it on its side and crumpling it against some trees.

Colby rushes into the hospital, noticing the news was covering a crash and watching in horror at what had happened. He goes over to the front desk. “I’m here for Carmen Lopez.”

The receptionist nodded and looked up a couple things, frowning at her screen for a moment. “Right, you’re gonna need to go to the intensive care unit, let them know who you’re there to see, theyll wanna see ID, they should let her assigned consultant know that you’re here to speak to as well.” She explained to him giving him directions then sent him away.

Colby frowns and heads to the intensive care unit. He didn’t like the sound of this and he was shaking by the time he made it to the desk, fumbling to get his ID out. Was she even still alive?

The nurse there raised an eyebrow as she saw who was walking towards her, “Colby Lopez right? How can I help?” She asked him, a fan of wwe, nodding some when emir explained and she got him an access badge to hold onto plus paged the consultant and finally got up to lead him through to where his wife was fighting to stay alive, hardly recognisable under all the wires and tubes going everywhere.

Colby sees her in the bed and frowns. He heads over to her and carefully take her hand, sinking into the chair by her bed. He watches her and rubs her hand softly. “Don’t leave me like this baby.”

She was out cold so there would be no response from her at the very least until she woke up and so now it was just the waiting game until her consultant was free to come talk to him, eventually making it over to her room for them to speak. “Mr. Lopez, sorry to have you here under these circumstances, your wife isn’t doing very well. ... we’re very concerned about brain damage as there is extensive head trauma, several lacerations to internal organs from the momentum of the vehicle but there was a lot of blood loss as well, you are welcome to stay here with her as much as you need to and there will be nurses in and out of here.” She sssured him. “Any questions?” She asked him. The media would be all over this one but the hospital was ready to stop that from happening

Colby shakes his head and glances back at his wife. “I just don’t want any paparazzi or media poking around.” He mutters and sighs softly. When he was assured they wouldn’t be, he head back to Carmen and takes her hand again. He kisses it softly and leans back.

It wasn’t long before they released the name of the owner of the vehicle and people realised it was the wife of Seth Rollins, Stephanie McMahon being the first person to call him. “Hey Colby, it’s all over the news, how you doing? You need me to extend your time off?” She asked him.

Colby sighs softly and nods. “Yeah.” He murmurs but ignores the question about how he was. He runs his hand through his hair and sighs.

“If you need anything that we can do just give us a call,” she assured him then hung up.

it waant long after that that Carmen started coming around again a little and frowned at the bright lights, not entirely sure how she had got there but knowing she was in a lot of pain and couldn’t move very well.

Colby nods and hangs up. He contacts his parents afterwards letting them know that He wasn’t gonna be able to pick them up tomorrow but he was arranging a car for them. After talking to them a bit he heads back into the room and sees she’s awake. “Carmen?”

She frowned a little hearing a voice and turned her head ever so slightly before flinching and keeping it in the same position just trying to see who it belonged to, feeling panic rise in her chest seeing a complete stranger standing next to her bed, her heart rate showing how freaked out she was, starting to pass out again already.
